This place has been there for decades - aregular walk-up restaurant, but once youorder, the regular turns into amazing. The girl taking my order insisted I talk to her in spanish she only spoke spanish. Im Mexican but dont speak spanish and she was rude about it. Made me feel bad and I was buying my son and wife dinner. She was rushing to place 3 orders of burritos all at once and couldnt get my toppings right....and was making dirty looks and faces while helping me. I didnt want to eat there no matter how gd the food is

Customer service was a wonderful experience coming from a seasoned customer service world myself....The Owner was very generous with the meat and onions in the pastor burrito. There was not a lot of beans which is the way I like it. The red salsa has just the rite amount of spice while the green is mild very enjoyable . Thank you so much for serving great food!

Boca has been a favorite for over 30 years. They have added Dr. Pepper, created their own drive-thru, thrown on a fresh coat of paint and still give great bang for your buck. What you get for food hasnt changed very much, and prices are still reasonable. The pic is of their al pastor taco especial.
My dad used to take me here when I was a teenager we used to come and get tacos here he passed away in 2013 and me and my wife still drive from Hesperia to get the best tacos. Cant get tacos like this in the high desert.

If I can give this place a 0 I would. The menu is not made right, why would you put “Burrito COMBO” if it doesn’t come with at least a drink? Their combo means it has BEANS to them, which I find it very odd for being a “Mexican restaurant” the amount of onion and cabbage the put in is ridiculous, I literally couldn’t taste the meat or beans. And finishing off the cheese is not melted.
The most wanted, most asked about renoun meat they do not have and thats lengua. Thats what I been going there for years for. Thats what I think of when I think about Boca Del Rio. Its annoying that they dont do whatever it takes to get the lengua. Im not going back until they have again.

What can I say about this place. The tacos they have here are just the best tacos ever!!! There is so much flavor with every bite that your taste buds will thank you. They pack every taco and burrito with a mountain of meat (asada, pastor, chicken, lingua, carnitas) highly recommend this place! Dont judge this book by it cover its a really delicious place! Also the quesadillas r really good too! What are you waiting for go eat a taco at this place you wont be disappointed!

This place has really gone down hill. I used to eat here at least once a week. Then once a month, now Ive gone maybe twice in the last three months and have been extremely disappointed for Id say at least the last 4 visits. Staff is rude, they, in my opinion, intentionally make mistakes and act like the cost of salsa comes out of their paycheck. Ive lived in La Puente my whole life, Their service, staff and food quality is consistently getting worse every visit. But because my memories and taste buds deceive me, I go back to give it another chance. Today was the last chance. I asked for 1 red salsa and the rest to be green, they gave 1 green and 5 red. Red is a bit too spicy for us so we ate dry, hard/ stiff tortilla burritos full of tough, fatty meat but mostly gristle. 10 thumbs down! 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Often, reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt, or based on individual experiences. The encounter with this joint could really put one off. I had intended to pick up an online order yesterday afternoon. When I announced my presence, the girl simply walked away. And I mentioned my order again, she showed no concern, with lethargy written all over her, who just pointed towards the pickup window, which was crowded with visitors, while hers remained empty. Her co-worker, a mid age lady, at the pick up window who was standing right next, worse, acting as a deaf mute. I realized that if one continued, would be like pulling teeth, I simply turned around and forgot about it!

So I came to this location for a combo burrito and they have false advertisement on there pricingthe price on the combo burrito has it for $8.87 plus taxthey have no sign that states that the sour cream and avocado is $1 each extraso when you pay your thinking your paying $8.87 plus tax which would be at least $9 and change but you get hit with $11 and changenot good business at all and no signs postedthey are literally breaking the law and robbing people and they should have signs posted to let the customer be awareI have attached photosFood is good but becareful !!!!!!!!!!

Their tacos are delicious but different than the normal street taco. It comes with cabbage, jack cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. I always get the carne asada taco. It comes with a fork because theres so much toppings. You can make 2 tacos with one since it comes with 2 tortillas. The green salsa is amazing. I save some for my eggs for breakfast next day.

Ive worked in the La Puente/Hacineda Heights area for 15 years and have not found better Lengua tacos anywhere else. The tacos are fully loaded and filling, with lengua that is firm but still juicy. The only downside is the seating is outside only, so eating there on 100+ degree days is out for me. Portions are generous and the meats are prepared perfectly.
I used to recommend this place a lot but my last visit there was disappointing... the food was not fresh, the service was OK... in my opinion, this place lacks passion for fresh food... it seems like the workers are under staffed and they cook large batches of food in preparation for costumers that never arrive because it was lonely during lunch rush time that day that I went...In conclusion I will keep trying this placeand post if anything has changed in my opinion..

Been coming to Boca for years… always the best and freshest tacos and burritos. Only issue I have now is that they shortened there hours of operation. They used to be open till like 2am on Friday and Saturday nights and now only open till 8pm? What’s up with that guys?? Love some tacos/burritos after the club but it’s closed. Any thoughts on extending hours of operation like before??? Still an amazing place to eat.

Like In n Out, the menu sticks to what has always worked. They have added nachos and quesadillas, and one day Ill try them, but I come for the burritos.

This is old school! Just recently went back after 25 years and it hasnt changed one bit. Food is satisfying and filling to say the least. It was packed with people waiting in line waiting to order just like I remembered.
Love these tacos My family I been going here since I was 8-9 years old and even though I live 2 hours away the drive is always worth it. I crave it and I must do the drive thats how much I love them. The workers are amazing I started to see new faces but its nice to still have some of the people that worked there for many years. Customer service is always amazing no complaints!

Same location, same name.NOT the same FOOD,NOT the same PEOPLE.Anyone who is anyone, who’s been here before the change knows this isn’t the same restaurant.This is a poor recreation, and the speed of the service, and the lack of ingredients on their basic taco, is so far from the boca I knew, I consider this location shut down, and won’t be returning, and I’ll be letting people know not to return, because their isn’t anything to return to, Boca del Rio on Hacienda blvd is dead.

Best tacos in L.A. they do not hold back on toppings at all. Meat is grilled on a Santa Maria style grill out front of the shop. Nice heaping portions of Monterey jack cheese, cabbage, guacamole, sour cream. Go for the red sauce, spice is top notch but well worth the after burn. A meal in one taco. And worth every penny!! (2.65 is crazy cheap for the amount). Always my go to when in the area.

On Saturday, July 23rd at approximately 6pm, went to pick up dinner. We received terrible customer service from young girl making our food. She was rude, and got our order wrong to start. We ordered a cheese quesadilla, carne asada burrito and two tacos. She got the quesadilla wrong and became argumentative when we pointed it out to her. She had to remake quesadilla and was not happy. Then she proceeded to make burrito and was very sloppy about it. She was obviously bothered about the quesadilla discussion. Lastly, with the two tacos, she barely put half a spoonful of guacamole on one of the tacos. When we pointed it out, she picked up foil tacos were in to show us. In picking up foil, tacos slid off, and turned upside down. Instead of remaking tacos, she opted to pick everything up and try to rearrange in foil. It was a sloppy mess. Weve been coming here since 1990. Customer and quality has gone down. Sadly, we wont be returning.
Great food. If ordering from the drive thru make sure you check your food before leaving for accuracy. Ive been coming here for years and just recently Ive experienced numerous mistakes in my orders on several visits. They are very quick to fix the mistakes for you when you bring your food back.

The asada tacos and burritos are the best. Theyre really loaded and great tasting. Their salsas are king! You can have them the traditional way with just onions and cilantro or load them up the boca way-- sour cream, guac, chopped cabbage, and shredded cheese.Their service is friendly and fast. Ive lived in La Puente for 25 years and this is only the second Ive been here. I had my reasons but today I decided to try it again. The young lady who took my order was patient and kind. Sadly I had to go back because my order was wrong. Another kind young lady helped me when I returned. They gave me the correct order without any issues. I recognized a familiar face in the kitchen which made feel even better. I give 5 stars because their food was good and everyone there was great. I will be back soon. We travel into town from the inland empire and have always enjoyed the burritos & tacos here. We always tell people of this place and hook them and they to do the drive. Its worth it. Its a place where you eat out side & no wash room so be prepared. Other than that, yum! Enjoy!
Havent been here in atleast 6 months and noticed theyve painted the building AND have a grill outside, where Im thinking the new owner, was bbqing some carne asada. He was very friendly and welcoming, asking us when the last time weve been there and where we were coming from. They now offer a drive thru which I think is kinda cool. Didnt know what to expect, this spot has been a family favorite for some time and was pleasantly surprised that even though there has been some pretty noticeable changes the food is STILL THE SAME, DELICIOUS! 😋

Small taco shop with good tacos. It wasnt clear when I ordered when they asked if I wanted everything that it meant a higher charge with lots of toppings instead of just the usual onions, cilantro and hot sauce, and I was not expecting to pay $20 for 6 tacos (no sides). The toppings included onions, guacamole, sour cream, fresh shredded cheese and hot sauce. I appreciate all the toppings but could barely taste the taco. Carnitas pretty dry. I would try them again though, my friend really enjoyed them. They have a walk up window with small patio out front.
Extremely busy long wait!!! It was my first time!!! I had a combo burrito and a asada taco decent!!! No fat or grissle on the meat!!! Very large portions!!! Its worth the wait if you got the time!!! I will be back!!!!

Now the service on the other hand.....eehhhh.....the shorter older man that always wears the baseball cap thats been there forever has such a hard time listening to you on how you want your food. Every single time is the same, he ask what you want and dont want, you answer and he does the opposite. But food is bomb!!!!!!
$ 11 for a All meat Burrito, i remember how they were much bigger before. When i received my drive thru back i was surprised it was like light weight. Then when i looked at it, was just abit bigger than those microwave burritos. I asked for extra green sauce inside the burrito, because ill be driving, failed did not do. And the meat tasted abit burned. I wanted the food i loved before, but maybe a new owner, and cutting cost, not my enjoyment again. I really still felt still abit hungry after finishing it. Should of gone else where. Since they been getting customers back, is not the time to be soo cheap on them. They took away what we loved about this place of years ago. Quality and portions have gone way down, but the price went soo much higher. Even look at large drink portions, was a huge cup before, now its like a medium sice cup for their large choice. No more.

This place is overrated. Food is bland, no flavor. If you know Mexican food, who puts Monterey jack cheese and cabbage on El pastor tacos. This place is catered more to Americanized Mexican food, nothing authentic. Their guac is not even made on the spot its store bought out of a canister.Dont let the long lines fool you, like they did me lol.The workers and the owner seem to be really nice, but this is just my opinion on the food.
My personal favorite taqueria Ill continue to recommend this place to friends family and first timers. Usually a wait during certain days but well worth it. A variety of meats and all are tender and well marinated. They really stuff and stack fat kid size portions into burritos and tacos here. Again im definitely a fan boy of this location been going here since the age of 7 well over 20 years and the quality has never changed.
The cook had his mask on his chin and talking while preparing my burrito. I asked for a combo burrito and he ended adding guacamole and cream without asking me if I wanted extra toppings and was charged for it. The cashier wasnt wearing a mask. Ended up not finishing the burrito and throwing it away. Will never go there again!!

Worth every penny. A lot of bang for your buck and the food is delicious. Dont forget to bring your appetite and dont be afraid of the long line it moves very quickly. Be very careful with the red Chile it will put hair on your chest. If youre a light weight, stick with the green salsa, I do.
My first experience at Boca was in 1989. My roommate and I drove up from our dorm at Pepperdine. It was a bit of drive, and the area is well..... but I have been back literally 100’s of times since then. Over the years the food is consistently outstanding! Have yet to find a better “two handed” burrito in all of Los Angeles.
I love the tacos here!!! Two tacos will get you full because they pack them with meat, cabbage, and cheese. They are not stingy with their meet either. The salsas are spicy but so delicious!!

Weve been coming here for years. The food is tasty. Yet the prices have gone up recently. Also, there has been a change in staffing where the newer employees do not know what theyre doing. There is a definite issue with their register ringing up prices higher than what is on their signage. When asked about this, the cashier said the difference was taxes. Well the current tax rate in La Puente is at 9.5%. So this eatery is charging 25% in tax! Someone call the Commissioner of Weights and Measures PLEASE!!! Prepare to be gouged.

This place is under new management and its not the same a Caucasian woman and asian guy...they charged me for cheese on a bean burrito..not extra cheese just the cheese..for a carne asada burrito that automatically came with meat of choice I had to pay extra to build my burrito ..if you want sour cream, cheese avocado beans and salad same for the yummy famous tacos everything is separate to me that is ridiculous.. Millinials took over and now its build a burrito Good bye classic taco stand..we enjoyed you for over 20 years. I ordered 4 carne asada tacos 1 bean and cheese and two carne asada burrito. It has been a popular place for many years, if you have a hangover you know if your out late at night from a party you might want to stop there to get something to eat before you go home. I wouldnt say the food is absolutely the greatest but it is pretty darn good.

Im not one who has to stand there and supervise my burrito maker ensuring it has too much of everything so it cant even close. Im hapoy in the drive thru. Make it how you make it. Im good. This place has ruined me in a great way!!! I am on the east coast scouring for these flavors. I had head and tongue for the first time just to realize I had been eating Mexican wrong all my life . They let me try all the meats and for the price point well worth the 5$ they were open pretty late and let me say oohhhhhh my! They even suggested I eat it with lime which took it to another level full of Flavor. I have since come back to Ohio and have yet to find something close. Dont let the modest building and outside seating deter you. I had to eat the burrito over 2 days but mmmmmmmhmmm. This place is delicious. My only gripe is there not one in my city. If your in LA, La Puenta area stop by you wont be let down.
There was alot of hype for the location. My family just moved into this area & when in Rome do as.... but not very impressed. Sorry followers of Boca Del Rio. A simple Carne Asada did not have too much flavor, likewise the quacamole mix was missing something could figure it out, but both sub-par.. we definitely did not leave hungry, very big portions thats the plus 4 star however flavor :( ..

My favorite tacos and burritos to order here are the lengua or tongue meat. I want all the beans, cheese, lettuce, cabbage and onions on there and I like the red salsa better than the green salsa.
I have been eating at Boca for over 30+ years. The food, the service and many of the people have been the same the whole time. Although I frequent all of the locations over the years. The original location on Hacienda is my favorite. Easy menu consistent food is what keeps me coming back. When they say dont judge a book by its cover, Boca is what they are talking about!! The prices they are amazing $2.75 for a taco special, this includes avacado and sour cream...WOW...you wont get this anywhere else. Lastly dont let the line discourage you, its worth the wait, besides it gives you a chance to make up your mind. Seriously though the line moves pretty quickly!!
It took awhile for my food since the young guy was in a bad mood. Other people in line were upset that he would take 1 order at a time. The lady doing the cash register had to ask people in line what they were ordering. So that the tortillas can be warmed up ahead. That way this guy could hurry up doing the food orders.
Lived in LP for most of my life moved out to riverside county and i stull go bac km to LP just to eat at Boca Del Ruo place hasnt changed .. you dont find to many placea you can go to years after youve moved away and it still have the same owners and the food is still the same 👍👍👍👍👍

I got the carnitas burrito and it was really good. My sister got the carne asada and I had a taste and Im glad I got the carnitas. There was some thing that I just didnt like the taste in the carne asada. The place looks run down and they charge $1.00 on a $1.75 drink, where other places at least give you 1 free refill.

They make a pretty good sized burrito with a good spicy kick to it. Employees are friendly and not afraid to smile, a nice break from the poor service I have come to expect from other eating establishments in this neighborhood.

The food is good and most of the people who work here are nice. However the older gentleman with the cap who seems to be in charge is rude, a coward, and a racist. He messed up my order and when I politely asked him to correct it, he threw the plate down to the side and called me a racial slur for Chinese people in Spanish to one of his other co workers. Unfortunately I dont think he realized that even though I was Asian, I can still speak and understand Spanish. Funny how when you pretend not to speak a language how much you can ascertain about peoples true natures. Ironic too, as with him being a minority himself, he should have understood and respected other races better. As a man, if he had a problem with me, he should have said it to my face instead of calling me something hes thought I didnt understand to one of his co workers.In the end, I stayed calm, smiled at him, kept a close eye on him as he cooked my food and ultimately got my new plate, as I had already waited too long in line to just give him the satisfaction of storming off. However it will be my last time going here. From reading other reviews below, it seems as though Im not the only one who feels this way about the service here. I would suggest everyone else try Pepes Mexican food as an alternative. As a veteran who has fought for this country, I feel deeply let down that I come home to a country where I am racially prejudiced against (ironically by someone who speaks even less english than me lol)

Always great for tacos. Similar to Taco del Rio but honestly better and more flavorful. The salsa along with the tacos and burritos are a must. They all types of meat, lengua included and the asada nachos are hugee. Portions are big so dont underestimate them
A stop you have to make at least once. Huge burritos and loaded tacos. Taco special! Burrito special! Choice of meat, piled high and your choice of generous portions of onion, cilantro, shreded cabbage, lots of grated Monterey jack, sour cream, avocado, and salsa. Ive been coming here on and off for about 20 years. Theyve been consistent. Try it once...if you enjoy it, keep going back.
The asada burritos are really good but a little pricey. If its good, then you dont mind paying the price. Anyhow, like the cheese and green hot sauce.

Omg! Best carne asada burrito! The burrito is giant impossible to finish. But you still want ur own. Dont take it home and split it. The place is just a stand, has seating shade to eat under. Everything very fresh. Order salsa/chile on the side. I dont like spicey however my friend who does said its especially hot. Dont order cheese nachos we were going to split among friends not knowing how big the burrito was. Those were gross chips and cheese both were gross stick with burrito thsts excellent .
Last time we went here my husband got food poisioning. I didnt eat there because the way they were making the food looked unsanitary. I ate next door at the depot. I didnt get sick. My husband said he will never eat there again.
I absolutely love Boca Del Rio. Ive been going to this restaurant since I was a kid. If youre looking to eat tacos or a Burrito, I recommend this tiny restaurant. They have other items on the menu but my favorite is the Tacos, or Burrito.

The food was not tasty at all. To make it worse and hour after I started feeling sick. I ended up diarrhea, body ache, chills, nausea for two days. Just thinking about the food makes me me nauseous. I hope nobody goes through the same experience I went through.
Love this place been coming here since I was little visiting my aunt. Food is fresh and especially if you order burritos they use this big chunk of cheese and grated it right in front of you.

Quite possibly one of the best Mexican food joints in the area. Open until 3AM, no tax, good portions, pretty cheap ($6 flat for a burrito with all the frills). Unfortunately, no Al Pastor meat, just regular pork.

No one working there had a mask on !!! it well be a long time before I go back too this place. I called no-one answered the phone and you cant even leave a message! Not worth the risk!!! The kid working the register is rude. This is a health hazard & hazardous to your health! I would not eat there if i was paid too!!!

Tacos are stacked which make it so good, the asada can use a little seasoning though... you dont really notice how plain it is because of all the things that come on it but if they fixed that 5 stars would do no justice! Easy 10 stars would if possible

Male cook and female cashier need to have better communication. Cashier kept taking orders after closing and cook kept cursing in Spanish insulting customers because its closed and walked away. Cashier apologized for his behavior, she made him return to complete remaining orders.

That would include your choice of meat, sour cream, onions, cilantro, cabage, guacamole and lots of cheese!!!! Goodness... My mouth is watering just giving you all this review. Thats even without the savory green or red sauce. This was my wifes spot before we met. Our First Date over 13 years ago. And now a looked-forward-to 70 mile trek to get there. Open late and Closed on Sundays! Have a Blessed Time!
Anything on this menu is good. They are not stingy with there meat. Depending in whose working customer service is a hit or miss. Tho the food is always delicious.

Build your burrito however you please. No matter how you construct it your bound to get an excellent and filling meal. Ive tried all their meat offerings over the years. Asada, Lengua, Cabeza, and Carnitas. All of them are very tasty. Carnitas is the challenge to many places, because of its tendency to be dry and also harden up a bit once its cooling down. This place nails it with soft tender and very moist Carnitas. Way to go!

If you dont order ahead, you can spend quite a while standing in line. Its usually pretty busy no matter what time of day.

Growing up in LP, Ive been going to Boca since the 90s, and nothing compares imo... Im still obsessed, lol.They prepare simple Mexican menu items such as burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and nachos... all soooo delicious with such unique taste and fresh ingredients.My favorite has always been their Asada Burrito, which consists of beans, meat, cilantro, onions, cabbage, and cheese, but I also add sour cream & and avocado with both salsas. They have both green & red hot sauces (the red one is spicier than the green one, so choose depending on your tolerance or just get it on the side). An Horchata drink goes perfectly with my burrito. They are very generous with the ingredients, including the meat.Thank you, Shin family, for allowing us to enjoy Boca for decades!

2023-12-05 19:44:22This place is the bomb. I’ve been going since I was a kid, probably since I was 4 years old. I grew up in La puente and my family and I have eaten here for years. They give you tons of meat, toppings, and the service is fast. I sometimes will drive from where I live now to La puente, because I crave boca so much. It tastes the same and I can’t get enough of boca 🤤

2023-07-24 20:11:55Since day 1, this place has been my go-to location. I even met the owner on several occasions when I was younger. The best story about this place was when they put a Green Burrito restaurant right next door, and Boca Del Rio became the reigning champ. Some of the best Mexican food Ive had, and I am very picky. I recommend that you try both the green and red salsa, because nothing can compare and the food is very affordable. They have also added chicken to the menu, which they didnt provide many years ago. The only way the food could be better was if they hand-made their tortillas. This last time I went, I even purchased a shirt so I could promote this fine establishment.
