Cute place, decent food and service, reasonable price. The only thing I dont like is self-serve water. The house hotpot was plain, lobster hotpot was decent, sezhuang spicy hotpot was good, recommended. Also, the clams with vermicelli was spicy and tasty, as well as the braised pork with squail eggs rice bowl, recommended. Brown sugar milk tea was also good. No sago desserts in both visits.

Boiling Avenue is very good casual restaurant, which is really well priced. They are essentially a Japanese restaurant that serves hot pots and small dishes that are mainly Japanese style, but they also encompass other culinary styles from around the world. We found their Japanese Tonkotsu hot pot to be extremely tasty and, quite a good deal. The eggplant and meat sauce is excellent as well as their spicy cumin beef. The cucumber salad was extremely tasty but if you have an issue with raw garlic, I don’t recommend you get it because it’s loaded with raw garlic. Their Boba and Asian style tea drinks are also extremely good. Not too sweet but with lots of flavor.Overall an excellent restaurant. The best overall restaurant that I’ve visited in Sacramento.

Wow! Such an unexpected experience! Came in looking around as I was just looking for places and this restaurant intrigued me with their unique design and menu.I ordered the House Special hot pot and my goodness, phenomenal! The broth was amazing and there were so much food on the pot. For an price averaging around 16 to 20 dollars, you could really fill your stomach here.

As an avid hotpot lover, I went on the hunt to find my new favorite hotpot spot in the Sacramento area. I am happy to share that I think Ive found it in Boiling Avenue. Boiling Avenue offers individual hotpots with a variety of broth and ingredients. They also have a sizeable drink menu if youre looking for something to pair with your dinner.Just a couple logistic things to note. The complex Boiling Avenue is located in has its own parking lot, which makes parking a breeze. Although it doesnt affect the taste of the food, the interior of the restaurant is very cute and easy on the eyes; the beautiful ambiance definitely adds to the overall dining experience.We arrived around 8pm or so for a late night dinner (bonus points that this place is open til fairly late 10:30-11:30pm depending on the day) and were instructed to seat ourselves. We ordered the Japanese Miso and Vegetarian hotpot, along with their black milk tea and the kumquat lemon green tea. The hotpot broths were flavorful and the variety of ingredients in each pot were great! As for the drinks, our favorite between the two was definitely the kumquat lemon green tea which was sweet with a bit of tartness to balance it out. The black milk tea was equally good and perfect for anyone looking to satisfy a milk tea craving.If youre in the mood for hotpot, then I highly recommend giving Boiling Avenue a try! I for one will definitely be back in the future.

We came here a year ago when we were in town for a convention (two days in a row). This year, I knew we need to come back. Food is the same as last year. I think they were short staffed today but Brittany was great. Thank you, Brittany!!!Im a regular to Boiling Point in my town for more than a decade. I like their sauce and spice but Boiling Avenue has their habanero sauce that add kick to any soup.The best part about this place is that they allow you to substitute up to 3 items of equal or lesser value. I like this policy because I can have them remove anything I dont like so, it wont go to waste. Its good for me, the business and the world. Less waste of food! Thats absolutely great.The other reviewer mentioned the food comes out not fully cooked but I like it. I can cook the food to my likings and not over cooked.I highly recommend this place if you are in the mood for some Taiwanese hot pot.The portion is very generous too!The only thing I hope they might have is the dipping sauce for the hot pot. I will definitely come back.

Mini-hotpot but DEFINITELY can be shared between two and is filling for both.The house special is it!!Savory, its not spicy, and a very gentle flavor profile.Braise Pork Belly & Quail Eggs Over Rice had a very balanced marinade, the fat was dissolving in my mouth:)Popcorn chicken was your standard popcorn chicken. Friday night at 7pm and I got seated immediately. Kimchi Fried Rice for $10 with enough portions that I can eat the remainder tomorrow. Servers popped by every few minutes to check on me and refill my water. I waited less than 10 minutes for my food to arrive. Modern music playing in the background, good atmosphere. Most of the other customers were college students talking about classes.

Great personal sized hotpot restaurant with many yummy options ie House Special, tonkotsu, miso, seafood, vegetarian, etc. If there’s an ingredient in the hotpot that you don’t like you can switch it with an item of equal or lesser value. Beef is the most premium item and has no equal. Sides are good also. Wings used to be good but now so so. Still a great restaurant. Highly recommend.

Best personal hotpot, period.theyre the first in Sac, and remained the best in Sac (NorCal, really, I have yet to have a better experience in any similar establishments in the Bay Area, and yes, that includes Boiling Point).they excel in every aspect - ingredients, flavor, ambience, decor, price, (remarkable) service, and all the way down to selection of music.my all time favorite item is the house special hotpot. their chicken wings are bomb, and the shrimp skewers are amazing. they also have a good selection of sake, Japanese beer, flavored soju, etc. they got beers on tap as well.oh and their milk tea is better than all your local boba tea places.this is the one place Id go over and over. do yourself a favor and give them a try. by yourself, with family, with friends, or dates. you will surely leave the place with a smile on your face and good food in your belly.

I’d been meaning to go here before COVID happened, but didn’t get the chance to until after restaurants went takeout-only. While I’m bummed I didn’t get the full experience, the food we brought home absolutely made up for it! I got the vegetarian option which came with an amazing miso-like broth and a huge bowl of fresh seasonal vegetables, noodles, and tofu.The salt & pepper tofu was delicious too, and paired well with the provided dipping sauces.The staff was also very friendly and welcoming. Overall I’d definitely get takeout again, and when things get better we’ll be sure to come back for indoor dining.

First time having a hot pot. Really didnt know what to expect. Its kind of like the Melting Pot, with hard Ramen noodles. Had to ask the waitress to turn off the flame as our pot continued to boil our food. Ordered a Boba tea but they didnt have Boba. Gyoza and calamari appetizers were pretty good. The pieces of duck in the duck bowl were all the bony bits - more bone than meat. The plum sauce was tasty. Inside decor wasnt anything spectacular. Overall decent experience

OmgI was looking forward to eating here after seeing the pictures on their website.I decided to surprise my son for his 27th Bday, he loves Ramen. Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese we love it ALL!So I made a reservation for the 4 of us.When I pulled up I anticipated excitement from my son and he wasnt.Apparently hed been there before and wasnt impressed. The recommendations from the waitress for what hot pot that I might like best was spot on. I’ve been to many hot pot restaurants before, so I knew what to expect. The food is not cooked when it is brought out, everything is raw and must be cooked in the pot. This can take about 12 to 15 minutes. They light the flame once delivered. With some thought by management regarding the ordering process, the cook time to boil for the hot pot options, could be reduced.The Tonkatsu broth was wonderful, as was the udon noodles, two imitation crab meat sticks, two quail eggs and a few other pieces. My family also ordered the House Special with beef hot pot, extra udon noodles and the Beef hot pot.I like that the waitresses help each other’s sections and refilled drinks regularly. While our main waitress asked if we wanted to order anything extra during the initial ordering process, each waitress came by to ask the same thing. Asking if we wanted drinks, appetizers or more food four times was a bit much on the up-sale situation.I get it, they have a full bar and that’s where they will make the bigger margins.I look forward to coming back again and trying what they have on offer for Happy Hour.

Super cute hot pot place with great food and great customer service! All the workers were attentive and dedicated to making sure that you had the best experience possible. My favorite item that I got was the salt and pepper tofu. It was crispy, well seasoned, and it paired perfectly with the spicy mayo and the chili lime sauce that the server recommended. The tl;dr version: their online reservation system doesnt work, and the food takes an eternity to arrive and be cooked, but other than that the restaurant is pretty good. Full review below...I hate leaving negative reviews for local shops like this, and maybe I caught them on an off day, but they really need to work out some issues.1) Both Google and their website offers an online reservation system. I tried it and it sent off a request to somewhere for approval. I thought I was set, but when arriving at the restaurant, I was told that they only take reservations on the phone. Ended up on the waitlist for 30 mins for a table. Not the best start, but fine.2) Probably took a good 10 minutes after being seated before anyone came by with water.3) Placed our order and waited around 30 minutes for it to arrive. When the food gets to us, I find that everything is completely uncooked, the broth is lukewarm, and now I have to wait at least another 10 minutes for it to reach boiling temperature and for ingredients to cook. What is up with this. Every other hot pot place Ive been to delivers the pot to you with the pot already boiling or near-boiling, so you can usually start to dig right in. So I really found myself questioning why in the world it took a kitchen 30 minutes to throw a bunch of raw vegetables into a lukewarm broth.To be fair to the restaurant, it was a Saturday night, the place was full, and it seemed like the wait staff were a bit stretched thin. Dont know what the kitchen was like.The food and drinks, after they eventually made their way to us and got cooked, were pretty good, flavorful, and seemed authentic. Prices are fair with good serving sizes. And the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant decor itself is also very neat and pretty. My gripe was that this became almost a 2-hour dining experience when it really could have and should have been much less. I could easily have put together my own hot pot meal at home in much less time than that, though admittedly I wouldnt be able to make as good of a broth. Still wasnt worth the wait though.

It was so awesome . Personally Ive never been so fascinated with all the contents in a bowl. The staff were VERY accommodating with the questions we had with the process of when and how to eat the bowl. And they were all so friendly. Environment is relaxing and their choices of tea are amazing. I loved watching the Lobster Tail change color right before my eyes as it cooked in the bowl. It was fun. Its now on our list of restaurants to come back to.

Boiling avenue is an awesome experience. Watching the ramen cook directly in front of you is fun, the staff will keep your broth topped off, and they just have a fantastic selection of flavors and additives. First time trying this place and I could say it was absolutely delicious! Loved the ambiance and the whole shop. It was small and cozy. Perfect for colder evenings. The food portions were super big, but worth the price. Especially since its delicious too. But if I had known the portions were so big, I wouldve ordered only one bowl for two people. Its nice to eat hotpot in the winter. None of my family eat large amount. We prefer mini personalized hotpot. This place fits the profile. We shared one spicy and sour hotpot. Sure enough we were choking after the first bite in a funny way. The cost is very reasonable. Will be back again.

I enjoy going here a lot! They have a very good selection of hot pots for your picky eaters to vegetarian lovers. They also have a variety of snack foods as well, which are quite delicious. I recommend the tofu, super delicious. The environment of the restaurant is very interesting, you get an old fashion yet modern feel. Its like youre eating outdoors but youre indoors. The overall food is great and if you go, getting their flavored soju is a must!! Try out the different flavors, you wont regret ever trying it, unless you drink the entire thing by yourself. Great environment for small groups of friends who enjoy going out to eat together and definitely a place Northern California was missing out on until the arrival of Boiling Ave.

Pretty good food overall. Price per portion is okay. Little Sheep is still the best deal for hot pot around Sacramento. This place is difficult to find and has a small parking lot. Plenty of parking space at the La Bou next door. Dining hours are limited so come early, it gets busy fast and stays busy. Will definitely be back often.

Went here on a Friday evening and this place was already packed. The food is great and the hot pots that you get have a little flame that keeps it boiling hot until the gel runs out. But just a tip, the noodles are separate and the little bit of rice noodles that you get wasnt enough if you have a big appetite. Weird that you have to get the waters yourself if you want water. But overall the food is great! NOT GOOD WITH BIG GROUPS since this place is hella small.

The food was great!!! And we got there in time for happy hour! So discount on beer and boba tea!!! Its a different dining experience. Dont be afraid to ask for any help if necessary they are very willing to help. We ate with chopsticks but Im sure they have forks if your not brave enough. Also it is a small restaurant so make sure to call ahead for reserved seating because it does get packed on Saturdays. Overall very awesome place!!

Me and my wife live to eat. We eat out 3 to 4 times a week and also really enjoy cooking. This place was fun. The atmosphere was new amd the music was sexy r and b. The food was exciting and entertaining. I especially enjoyed the seafood pot and the 2 appraisers we tried the cucomber salad and salt n pepper tofu was the bomb. I loves dipping it in the spicy garlic sauce and the sesame one also. If you enjoy asian food its a must.

3.5/5: I love that hotpot is a trending food and that new places are opening up in Sac! Boiling Avenue is a hip, modern-fusion hotpot place that also has a bar and offers milk tea.They have 6 combos, but you can pretty much customize whatever bowl you want (they allow substitutions)! I had the signature boiling avenue house special #1~ they bring out a little stove with a pot that had: beef, enoki, corn, fishballs, shrimp, vermicelli, cabbage, tofu. Then they light the fire and you wait for your soup to boil.I ordered a mild spice and the flavor was decent. The ingredients were generally good: my complaints are about the fish ball and shrimp. The fish ball had weird roe inside that was not good. The shrimp were also not peeled and since its such a hassle food I did not want to clean it or eat it. I would suggest avoiding those items. Also it takes a while for the food to boil.For a different take on individual hot pot boiling avenue is off to a good start, they serve a pretty satisfying dish and Id come back again and not get the seafood.

House special hot pot is my to go to. The house special has the shrimp and lobster fish ball, spam, beef, and mixed veggies. I love hot pot here because they include lots of mixed veggies which is my favorite..The presentation of the food is always presentable and social media attractive of course..Love their drink menu they have boba drinks to soju and sake. The flavored spju is my favorite because you can mix different flavors since they mix it themselves. I tried strawberry lychee and mango guava for the next one. The soju is refreshing and definitely strong!.The interior is great decor and cute too. The outside is even cuter decor because there are patio lights during the night..Overall this place is my togo to when I have hot pot cravings. There is a bit of a learning curve to this place. We had to ask questions to figure out how to go about things. Wish they would give people a tutorial on their first visit. This is a great spot to eat. The soups are amazing with so much in them that it is more like eating a large meal soaked in delicious broth. So far the kimchee soup is my favorite with the lamb coming in a close second. If you get the miso soup, I would recommend not making it spicy. Delicate miso flavors do not pair well with habanero spice. The house special and seafood soup are also excellent. I still have a few more to try.

One night, we went in a little late, about 10:10 PM and the staff said the kitchen is closed at 10 PM. The food was really good but you better get to eating really quick. They fill the bowls up! Once the water started boiling it was a mess trying to keep the water from over flowing the bowl.

Most areas dont permit any type of replacements or would certainly simply not put anything in your pot if you want like it. Kudos to them for allowing us to sub:)My pot is composed of crab, shrimps, clam, lobster fishballs, lotus roots, enoki mushrooms, tomatoes, tofu, corn, konnyaku (potato noodles), cilantro, green onions and vermicelli noodles. Include ons are valued as: $1-$2 = veggies, tofu, noodles, fried tempura$2.50-$3 = fishballs, some seafood, spam, imitation crab sticks $3.75 = primary seafood$4.25 = sliced meatThe interior design looks extremely hipster!
