This is a big noooooo restaurant! The bone marrow was incredibly oily, resulting in a serious food attack. It gave me a hard time for the rest of the evening. Their fried rice was equally disappointing – salty and oily. I dont usually use harsh words for restaurants, but I cant recommend this one.

Ah-mazing! We went in for brunch on a Sunday. Had 1 oclock reservations and were sat immediately on arrival. Service was attentive and the food was spectacular!We also ordered the ube French toast and ox tail hash. Those were devoured before we could take photos. I cant recommend this place enough and cant wait to try their dinner menu.Their Asian twist to American classics blew me away. The bone broth was to die for! Great drink selection as well. A must try place in Old Town. Make reservations!!

Food here is really good. Get the Korean ribs. Nice atmosphere for a nicer date or a birthday dinner. Food meant to be shared. Noodles were good and they pour the broth from a thermos so it’s piping hot. Cocktails reasonably priced, like 12 to 15 bucks. Pricey but definitely pay what you get here.

One of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. Extremely good food!! Great cocktails too. I’ve been here 3x and get something different off the menu each time. It never fails! Amazing food and somehow not a long wait time at all. I’ll be coming back until the wheels fall off.

Really good Asian Fusion brunch! Aesthetic interior and food options make it a good weekend brunch spot.The Chicken Katsu sando was my favorite dish. Super crispy and flavorful. Much more like a chicken sandwich though than a sando.The Chilaquiles was also delicious.For drinks, the white wine sangria was good.

I got the sisig and added on rice to make it an entree. I wish it was a bigger portion!! its delicious, definitely worth a try. I also had the calamansi juice and for an appetizer the table ordered mapo tofu fries.service was fast and plenty friendly. they were very quick to refill water and checked on our table often to clear plates. they also made sure to check for allergies after we ordered. we ate inside so the lighting was pretty low, but there were tables outside as well.if Im ever in the area again, I will definitely come back for more sisig. thanks bone kettle for the great meal. :)

I am now both a believer in bone broth & oxtail! broth is so comforting & the oxtail option is honestly enough for two people. I did not like Oxtail & the way it is done here, very good! we also tried the clams & Chinese donuts just because it sounded interesting - clams were great but as much as l love Chinese donuts, they still belong w congee :)

Oxtail dumplings are INSANE!!! Head-spinning good, even for foodies. I loved this place after moving here from NYC/Brooklyn. If you’re a fan of Chinese Soup Dumplings, you’ll go as nuts or more for these!!ALTHOUGH…I also got the chicken wings after asking the order taker guy what’s good or popular. They look good/interesting, but in the mouth they’re just hot, crunchy, and the flavor of deep fried fat. So disappointing! I’ve had incredible Asian wings, Thai in particular, so expectations where higher after those dumplings, and for the price tag. But as much as I kept wanting to like them, no…waste of fat calories and money. Like, simple fried chicken would be more enjoyable.Still, I suspect this cook does well with more sophisticated dishes like the entrees, so give them a try, and day-um, just get the oxtail dumplings - SUBLIME!!!

Their food was good, but nothing popped! I enjoyed the e mapo tofu fries. Nasi goreng was ok. Papaya salad was good but not enough flavor. I got the meatball noodle soup and could not taste what country the cuisine came from, it was not distinct enough and very mild in flavor. Great service and beautiful setting.

We had a great dinner here with friends! The 4 of us got to try many dishes. My favorite dishes were oxtail dumpling and soup with sirloin. Make sure you eat the soup while hot! The other dishes were good but a bit heavy for my taste: cauliflower, bone marrow, carbonara, tofu fries. Service was great at first but we felt forgotten as the place filled up. Didnt save room for dessert but wish I had! Overall great experience but would like to try other restaurants in this price range.

Love the innovative menu - however it didn’t meet my expectations. In no way it wasn’t good, it just wasn’t deliciously good. It’s what I would describe as almost there. Ox tail hash is quite enjoyable. Love how clean and well kept the restaurant is too. The space is absolutely beautiful.I think the dinner options are supposed to be better than brunch, but I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back to try it.Biggest disappointments are the broth (lacking dimension and strong flavors - just salty) and weirdly, the latte (tastes like cheap motel coffee).

Great service, generous portions, fun cocktails! My favorite was the prawns appetizer 👌🏼The oxtail dumplings were just OK for me but I know it’s a popular dish. Lots of seating on the inside - great for groups. We got hot sitting in the back indoor patio section though they had air conditioning units throughout. Would love to come back to try more dishes!

Disclaimer: They add a mandatory 20 percent service charge to your bill regardless of party size.Service was quick but nothing special which is why Im a bit bitter about service charge. With the reasoning on the receipt that they are trying to provide a livable wage for their staff. That should be the restaurants responsibility not the patrons?And I have been a server in California on and off for 10 years and I have always tipped because I understand that servers live off of tips. But to add a mandatory service charge with a written justification on the receipt in a form of guilt to be put on the patrons isnt it. And if youre going to put a 20 percent service charge, then the service needs to be amazing and personable and last night wasnt it. Being quick doesnt equate to excellent service.Okay now that my rant is over lets talk about the food.Food is amazing. We started off w/ the bone marrow and oxtail dumplings. The oxtail dumplings has a strong flavor with each bite but 6 was just right between my boyfriend and me. Bone marrow was good but could have done more with the bread. I wouldnt get the oxtail dumplings again because the flavor was a bit over powering.My bf ordered the short ribs carbonara and I ordered the nasi goreng with wagyu. And both of our dishes packed with so much flavor. The best nasi goreng I have had and the wagyu had a lasting garlic taste to it. Super tender and sooooo flavorful.With our 4 items, the bill was about 105 (before service charge). Which isnt bad for what we got.Would we come back? Maybe. Even with the mandatory service charge, the food is good. Ambiance was in a dark setting so it felt romantic

Amended after going for brunch here for the first time! The restaurant has expanded so much with a large front patio and another set of rooms in the back, very nice. Food wise the brunch is certainly different as it introduces a lot of SE Asian flavors. The island plate is definitely worth sharing along with the duck confit and pandan waffles.It’s delicious but I think I prefer their lunch/dinner fare better. The cocktail program was delectable with all sorts of options to choose from.Service was fast and efficient.

Their bone kettle noddles & broth is fantastic. We tried the ox tail and the brisket and both meats were good.We also had a papaya salad which was the worst papaya salad we’ve had in our lives. Very very acidic, and different from the regular papaya salad you can eat at Thai places.They add 20% service charge by default no matter the party side.

My friends and I came here Tuesday night and Sonny was our server. He was great and explained some dishes to us. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We loved the atmosphere and how intimate the seating was. The drinks, main dishes, appetizer, and desserts were amazing!! The crispy garlic prawns appetizer was our favorite plate of the night! The garlic noodles aren’t on the menu anymore but Sonny let us know it’s still available to order. The nasi goreng was so good with the duck and dipping sauce it came with. The rendang carbonara was very creamy and had a good flavor. The sea bass also had a great flavor but was kind of a small portion. We got the ube cheesecake for dessert and I loved how the cheesecake had a whipped texture. Sonny gave us a complimentary birthday pandan crème brûlée and it was delicious! Would definitely come back.

Food is good! It is a hybrid of authentic Indonesian food with other dishes. I tried the half chicken, love the meatball chicken... comes with the noodles... fried oxtail appetizer is good as well. Will come back to try other menu next time. Price wise is a little bit pricey, but I understand the process of long cook with fresh n fine ingredients, and they also presented the meals pretty good. Ambience of the restaurant is also nice. Worth to try for an experience. Just expect to spend.

We made a reservation for Sunday evening through Yelp which was super simple. We were seated right away in their patio space which was really nice. The service was okay and did not justify the automatic 20% service charge.Lychee Dragonfruit ($5): I got this since I saw a lot of great reviews but it didnt taste good to me. The lychee flavor was subtle and the Dragonfruit flavor wasnt strange. It wasnt sweet at all.Yujeans Elixir Cocktail ($12): Pretty good whiskey barrel infused sake. It was better than the lychee Dragonfruit for sure.Oxtail Dumplings ($17): This was also highly rated so we had to try it. It was different but the filling was too mushy like that undercooked/raw meat texture so that was a turn off.Prime Fatty Brisket Bone Kettle Noodles & Broth ($24): They gave a generous amount of brisket but theyre more on the lean side than fatty. The noodles tasted like packaged noodles, tasteless, and were clumped together. The best thing about this dish is the bone broth which is their specialty. The broth is flavorful and reminded me of pho broth but its not umami enough to be like ramen.Nasi Goreng ($14) + Add Garlic Wagyu Ribeye Cap ($16) + Add Bone Marrow ($12): The sauce for this is amazing! Its an umami bomb that has so much flavor that we added some into our bone kettle broth lol The fried rice and wagyu were good, particularly with the sauce. The wagyu wasnt as soft and tasted more like your typical steak. The bone marrow was mid (and ugly looking) so you can pass on this.

Bone Kettle has been on my list for months so when I came here for Dine LA, I was not disappointed! The food here is heavily influenced by Indonesian food, though I would say it’s more of a fusion kind of food style. I got the braised oxtail bone broth with noodles and the broth was so flavorful and comforting. Great selection of desserts as well. Price point is a bit higher but it was a great dining experience! We made reservations for 8:45 and we were allowed 90 mins of seating despite the restaurant closing at 9 (I believe it’s just last call at 9pm?). Great service, delicious food!

November 2022:Came here for brunch on a Saturday. My overall impression of the brunch is three star ✨ ☹️.Heres why. We started with the spicy papaya salad which I thought was tasty but lacked the spiciness. Perhaps it needed some chili 🌶️. This alone wasnt a big deal.The signature dish that I was excited to try was the broth and ramen. We ordered the chicken. The presentation was very nice. They presented the dish without broth which was nice because you can see the presentation and taste the noodles first. Then the server came and poured their signature broth. It looked really tasty.But heres where it didnt meet expectations: the chicken was chewy and didnt seem fully cooked (you can see some pink in the middle of the breast... Perhaps it wasnt poached long enough because that has happened to me when I have poached a chicken). The broth also was not hot... It was lukewarm which was puzzling. We came at noon so I wasnt sure if the broth was from an earlier batch but it was not like what I would get at a standard ramen restaurant (and I have eaten a lot of ramen 😀). Lastly, for a signature dish, the broth was not very tasty. Maybe I am unfairly comparing this to a Japanese miso or shoyu broth... Which may or may not be a fair comparison. But that is my bar when it comes to ramen.When we pointed out to the worker that the chicken was not fully cooked, he took the chicken and brought back fully sliced chicken that was better. I would have expected them to take the entire dish back and redo it instead of leaving us with the dish that was exposed to undercooked chicken 🐔.The last dish we tried was the soft shell crab 🦀 and waffle with squid 🦑 ink 🔏. This was overall okay. There wasnt anything wrong with the ingredients. Its just that the salad topped on the waffle didnt really work. It would have been better served on the side so you can decide if you want to eat it with the crab+waffle or separately.I knew beforehand that they would charge 20% service charge automatically. Which I dont have an issue if I enjoy the meal and the service. The service was attentive and friendly but completely missed on how they handled undercooked chicken 👎. I have an issue with a mandatory service charge for food and service that fell way short of expectations.

This Filipino & Indonesian inspired restaurant has my heart 🥺 the food is high quality and thoughtful as they put a lot of heart into each dish❣️🍽Ordered:1. Nasi goreng with wagyu rib-eye cap: 10/10 the fried rice was so flavorful and tasted nostalgic2. Prime top sirloin bone broth noodles: 10/10!! The broth is simmered for 36 hours and you can really tell once you take a sip😌 the broth is rich and the beef is perfectly tender3. Oxtail dumplings: 8/10 the dumplings didn’t have as much filling as I would’ve expected but they were still delicious!4. Fried cauliflower: 10/10 I love how this dish had savory shredded pork floss in it ;o it added such an unique flavor and texture5. Chicken wings: 8/10 the wings had a really great crunch and the citrus flavor paired well6. Garlic prawns: 10/10 this reminded me of Smorgasburg’s shrimp daddy dish 🤣 I love fried shrimp too so this was automatically a win in my book7. Service was exceptional from our host to our server. We loved everything we ordered. I’m a huge fan of yuzu and the drink in combination with raspberry was amazing. One marrow 4.5/5: i thought the salad was a nice touch to cut the fat, but maybe season the marrow too which i thought it said they did.Sigsig 4.5/5: usually made with scrap parts of the pig which is delicious, but they only use pork bellyGarlic shrimp 6/5. The food and drinks were both very good, and our server was very helpful. Only knocking off 1 star because we felt pressured to leave as soon as we were done with our plates. The server came by with the check in hand even though my friend had wanted to order another beverage. The highlight of the meal was probably the waffle stack. This is a solid place, but it’s debatable whether or not I would return, only because there are so many other great restaurants in the area.

Took a date to check out this place and pretty proud of my choice especially we both foodie and Im Indonesian so I have high expectations given the reviews.I am both impressed and proud of the food quality and service, and my date said similar thing. We had the garlic prawns, oxtail dumplings, nasi goreng with soft shell crab, and rendang carbonara. I also had the passionfruit mojito (very delish and refreshing btw)Food 5/5 - first time having Indonesian fusion especially on a fancy venue. Flavors were on point, the nasi goreng reminded me of childhood memories of my moms cooking. Rendang carbonara is an awesome twist to traditional rendang dish, as as the oxtail dumplingsService and ambiance 4/5 - pretty upscale venue, nice decor, and attentive server (I forgot her name, sorry ) that asked us about food allergies first before putting in our orders and provided other recommendations for my date as she has several food allergies.The only downside is that they charge 20% surcharge for dine-in regardless of your party size, but it was worth it for us because of the pleasant dining experience and great food. Definitely wont be the last visit for me

Really great service from before we even stepped foot in the restaurant. I reached out over email inquiring about vegan options, and Thea sent me the most comprehensive guide on how to order vegan that I’ve ever seen a restaurant compile. Our server was fantastic as well, and the food was delicious. The gado-gado was probably our favorite. Great non-alcoholic options as well! It’s obvious they put a lot of care into everything they do, and we’ll definitely be back.

Beware, theres an automatic 20% service charge to all bills and you have to pay tax on this service charge. Therefore the final cost of your meal will be 30% more than the listed price. Waitress argued with me and tried to discredit my concerns with my meal also lied and said I told her I liked the food earlier & also said I ate all the food I clearly did not it was right in front of her eyes! total scam restaurant with a forced 20% gratuity sickly sweet bone broth and overly salted what tasted like dog grade grain fed bone marrow. My buddy’s oxtail was coated in a soy bean oil lacquer and he feels nauseous after getting home and also the completely flavorless mostly bone $50+ sea bass rip off, I’m surprised this restaurant has any positive reviews it’s absolutely horrendous and tries to scoot by the low cost and quality food they up sell with the upscale atmosphere.

Ridiculously good brunch. Every plate was well done and delicious. The bone broth noodles with oxtail was my absolute favorite - the broth was tasty, noodles were tender, and oxtail was perfectly juicy. Also loved the spicy papaya salad and fried oxtail tip. We did the ube and pandan pancake stack for dinner to top everything off. Soooo happy!Only complaint is that theres so AC on the back patio, so make sure to order a cold drink or youll be sweating through your meal in the summer!

OK BONE KETTLE. I am a fan. The service, the food, and the vibes were all top notch.My girlfriend and I went for our valentines dinner and we decided to go with several small plates.The Kokoda and Chicken Wings were our favorite dishes and I would definitely recommend. The garlic prawns were a little bit too salty for us but thankfully the donuts helped settle it down.We also got the passion fruit mojito and the dragonfruit lychee lemonade w/ a shot of soju. The mojito was delicious but the lemonade tasted a little watered down and tasted overpowered by the soju. Id probably get it without the soju next time.Overall, we had a great experience and cant wait to try out the other menu items.

Overall, not impressed by the food. Maybe Ive traveled to Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore too many times, these dishes reminded me common street food but overpriced here. Bone Kettle says its a Southeastern Restaurant, but the menu suggests otherwise. One look at the menu will confuse even the most open-minded eater. What is an italian carbonara and chinese mapo tofu dish doing being served here? I do not know. On top of this, the flavors are unfocused and scattered. The dishes do not complement each other.Protein portion sizes on the Oxtail dumplings and Sissig are pitiful, making it hard for anyone eating here to feel justified paying $20 for veggies and carbs. And a guaranteed 20% service charge disincentivizes good service. Food arrived late without apology; servers didn’t check in on dining experience; checks were delivered to the wrong table; customers needed to help servers clear the table when new dishes arrived.Overall, I was confused and disappointed with the entire experience here and do not recommend anyone dining here unless they want confusing flavors and underwhelming service charged at a premium.My girlfriend and I had the Sissig, Oxtail Dumplings, Bone Marrow, Fried Rice with Wagyu, and Carbonara. Sadly, the Carbonara dish was the only dish we enjoyed.

We came to this restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and noticed that there was a Dine LA event going on. We thought that the Dine LA event wouldnt be too bad, and we assumed that the food would be decent. It was $55 per person plus a predetermined 20% tip, and we also ordered $13 cocktails. At that moment, we thought it wouldnt be too bad, but we were later greatly disappointed.For the first course, we ordered the carrot salad and yellowtail. The carrot salad portion was so small that it was shockingly inadequate, not even enough for a dog. The yellowtail was not fresh at all, and there were only four small slices. We understand that its an appetizer, but we had expected better.For the second course, we ordered shrimp and sausage. There were only four shrimp! Whats going on? The sausage was very average, like something youd buy at the supermarket. For the main course, we each ordered beef noodles and fried rice. The noodles were definitely store-bought, with a few slices of carrot and three pieces of beef (beef was good btw, maybe the only good thing throughout all the dishes). The fried rice was very ordinary, just soy sauce fried rice with a fried egg on top.Finally, for dessert, there was a bowl with three balls (I forgot their name), but it seemed like they were just unpackaged items from the supermarket, all tasting like artificial flavorings. Between 3 of us, we barely finished half of that dessert. Im 50/50 whether or not Id go back. The presentation of the dishes overcompensate for the taste.

Idk if it was just slow but 4 different people came to the table to take my drink and food order after it was already placed ( not to check up but to actually take the order). This restaurant serves a nice mixture of asian dishes, mostly tuned to the Western palate. Portions are on the somewhat larger size, and made the small outdoor table a little difficult to manage. The drinks are limited to wine, beer -- though no draught that night-- and sake-based cocktails. Everything was tasty, not overly spicy or salty. Service was quick and very (!) enthusiastic, bordering on intense. Parking is a bit difficult but there are paid lots nearby. Prices were a bit high but not outrageous, as long as you dont order the wagyu (see menu pic). Recommended for fans of southeast Asian food.

Had an early dinner here on a Friday night and the place was already busy. The staff informed us as we sat down that they were fully committed that night and dining was limited to 90 minutes. The brisket was delicious on its own and fall-apart soft.We didnt have room for dessert, but bought 2 cookies home to enjoy: an ube cookie & pandan cookie. After a delicious meal, the cookies were a disappointment. We couldnt really taste the ube or pandan. Indifferent food.We said that our friend would be a bit late, and they checked every few minutes on our order, but when she showed up it took 15+ minutes and I had to get up and flag down a waiter. As for drinks we had the dragonfruit lychee lemonade and the blood orange Fresca. Both excellent choices but make sure to buy a bottle of soju. It only costs $9 and you can add as much as you want or make multiple cocktails.Overall great experience. Highly recommended. There was absolutely way to much rice (I guess a way to charge more for the price for the portion). The steak was okay, no seasoning as well but potatoes were good. The one thing that was my favorite was the cocktail we got. I definitely wouldn’t come here. And it sucks as they charge 20% gratuity for a table of 2 when they usually charge that for a party of 5 or more. I definitely wouldn’t come back here but that’s just my partner and I’s opinion but I’m sure others will think it’s good of course. Definitely more for the ambiance and not authentic Filipino dishes

Very nice place. Very cozy, well managed. Servers could smile more since it’s a service restaurant type of place... so I could feel even more welcomed. Try the chicken wings it has a zing flavor and those chillis make it very different than your regular hot wings somewhere else. I would skip the bone marrow appetizer since it’s not from a good selection of bone... I guess they just bought it... that’s what they got... that’s what they sell. I’ve been to places where the same bone marrow dish is more carefully selected. Hey but overall nice food. Tip: refill of iced tea limited to one... and sodas by the bottle only; I’m guessing for the same reason. Enjoy your food here. Recommended.

Wow I was so surprised - the food, the flavors, the decor, the service - everything was so amazing. We had the oxtail dumplings (would order 2 next time- PACKED with flavor), garlic prawns (so crispy and the perfect blend of spice, basil and garlic) bone marrow (would pass next time on this one) and a couple of main dishes (including the bone marrow broth - so good) and drinks.The portions were so generous that by the time the entrees came I was kinda full. Bone Kettle was a wonderful dinner for us. We started off with the oxtail dumplings and chicken wings, both were great. Especially the dumplings, the sauce with mushrooms was exceptional. The bone broth with steak was our entrée and it did not disappoint. It was flavorful and you could taste the fresh herbs. The margarita is great too! The service was good, our server was attentive and answered our questions. The ambiance is trendy and cozy. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The food was good but the service.... they tried to clear our dishes from the table multiple times while we were very clearly still working on our plates, and even AFTER one server had taken our credit card with the check- another server came over and asked if we wanted to order anything else or if we wanted the check. There werent any other parties waiting to be seated so it didnt make sense why we were being rushed in this way. Incredibly unwelcoming atmosphere from the staff here. Maybe theyre entitled to provide inhospitable service because the 20% tip is forced on the bill regardless of party size.

We ordered more than three types of meat and every single one of them was overly oily and tasted weird and didnt bring out the texture of beef at all. The famous broth was also underwhelming- where is the essence of bone broth?? Tasted like an average bowl of noodle broth served in an southeast Asian restaurant. On top of that they charged each dish at least 30-40% more of what theyre supposed to be and an automatic 20% gratuity. I recently dined at Bone Kettle restaurant in Pasadena, and unfortunately, I have to give it a 3-star review this time. While I used to enjoy their unique Asian foods and great service, this time the service was very disappointing. Our server was rushing and looked impatient. She even forgot a few orders and never returned to check on us. It was a $500 dinner, and I expected better service. Compared to my previous experiences, the service deteriorated significantly. This is the third time Ive been to this restaurant. The last two times, the dinner service was very good. But this brunch let me down. Our waiter didnt make me feel very friendly during the whole time. Especially when she brought the dessert with the beef noodles, and I asked her if the dessert should come later because we still had two dishes to go. Our waitress said it was because I hadnt told her that dessert would be served last. I dont understand this point. Is it the customers fault? The most delicious food ever. It is challenging to find authentic Indonesian cuisine, especially one in an elegant setting but this is it. I really like Asian fusion restaurants and I came here when I was sick so I got chicken noodle soup and my dad got blue crab cake benedict. The dishes were both good but I will say for the price you are paying it is mostly for the flashy atmosphere. The ube pandan waffles are a pretty crazy dish. This is a hip young spot so I understand why people enjoy it. I would say if you come here be prepared to ball out and I’d recommend going family style in a big group so you can try several options. Didn’t try the cocktails but they seem fun.

Went there for dinner as an out-of-towner, and the food was quite good. Service was quite good as well, with lots of helpful recommendations from food to drinks. My ONLY reservation was that if you go there on a rainy day, and you bring an umbrella, bring it with you to your table. I left mine in the designated corner bucket provided by the restaurant, and it ended up either being stolen or mistakenly taken by another patron. Its a bit of a bummer when you you get there on a really rainy day to have to leave without an umbrella! f

A really amazing experience, probably the best Ive had in a restaurant in a long time. My girlfriend and I went after getting tattoos nearby, and were very hungry, as you can imagine. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, made sure we had enough to drink, but they didnt over do it and hover. They hustled the entire time we were there.The food was amazing, especially the bone broth! We ordered the sirloin bone broth, papaya salad, crispy lime chicken, pork belly, and dessert of a waffle stack. I was so impressed with each dish, but the bone broth and the ube icecream were the stars of the show.We also had plenty of space to ourselves, even as a party of two. The light on the table was adorable and perfect and lent a intimate air, despite being surrounded by so many people.Overall, I would make a special trip just to go to the Bone Kettle. Food is creative fusion with theme of south east asian cuisine. We had the garlic shrimp and the fried ox tail tip as appetizers, love both. We even ordered a side of rice to go with them! But the entree were abit disappointing. We ordered the fried rice with wagyu and the rendang cabonara as our main dish; the cabonara is quite salty, but overall tasting creative. The fried rice was below average. We love Indonesian style fried rice and it is always our go to dish when its an option on the menu, but this fried rice does not even come close to being called an Indonesian fried rice, it was a less than normal, cold fried rice. But the Wagyu on the side was really tasty though, nicely done (we asked for mediun rare). The fried garlic sauce they drizzle on there gave the beef even more flavor. Overall okay. We might or might not come back.

As it was our first time at this restaurant, we tried to order a few of items off the menu first. The server told us that the cook wanted all of the orders in at the same time and asked us to order everything. I asked her why and she did not provide any explanation other than the cook simply preferred to have all the orders in at once. She also told us that we had only ordered enough food for one person (2 orders of bone marrow, oxtail dumplings, and nasi goreng with duck confit - I think she has a different definition of one serving than most others). I told her I didn’t care what the cook wanted and that food service should be about the paying customer’s preferences. I assume she took offense to that, as she sent another server to take the rest of our order and didn’t check on our table the remainder of the night.The food was awful, we didn’t even finish the bone marrow we ordered because everything on the plate was so bland. The only thing you could taste on the plate of overcooked oxtail dumplings were the soy sauce and vinegar based sauce. The most palatable item was probably the fried cauliflower, which was extremely soggy because the moisture from the vegetable before frying it was not dealt with properly. We cancelled the rest of our orders before they came to our table because we had lost all appetite from the subpar food and service.They had the audacity at the end to charge the wrong amount for a beer and include a 20% service charge. It took them 10 minutes to figure out if they should really charge us a service charge for the terrible service we experienced.

The most frustrating dinner experience Ive ever had in Pasadena. Overpriced and overrated for low quality food. For pho, the broth is not as flavorful at all, too sweet and not rich. The bone marrow is literally like eating fat, cant finish even half of it. The noodle is not rice noodle like regualer pho, so it didnt feel like pho but a ramen with a very boring taste. For Gule, the curry has only little protein in it, and the protein requires extra pay other than the curry itself. Service fee is 20% mandatory while the service is not worthy of that much, no one checked on us besides last call. ANY pho restaurant Ive been to is FAR batter tasting and more reasonable pricing. Came in with high expectation after reading the good reviews, but it turned out to be a super disappointment.

Great new place! Have nice high quality wine with wine list constantly changing. Food is amazing! So much flavor. You need to try the broth thats cooked and marinated for 36 hours! However, a 275 course only came with a SALAD, CORN, the wagu beef, which I don’t even think it’s wagu, two broth, potatoes. The portions are fine. However, can someone tell me what makes this cost 275. I feel like I’m eating a $5 salad + $3 corn + $7 potatoes + $5 broth, and $30 beef. Never the less, the broth are so bad that I think Rosemead Pho taste 100x better. I arrived after my mom order, who does not speak English and thought it was a $75 worth course. Never come back.

In a time where take out is the primary form of service I would think that delivering a very high quality meal that satisfies would be paramount. The oxtail hash was well-prepared but the flavors kind of just ran together, and the sunnyside eggs on top werent runny at all. My friends pandan waffle was pleasing but lacked that coveted crispiness, and the duck confit paired with it was too salty.I wouldnt have minded giving the restaurant another chance before receiving the bill which had a built-in service charge of 20%. All the tastes were wonderful! The bone broth was also very flavorful and rich. Was a bit disappointed that the wings came with only 4 pieces, though. We also had the papaya salad which also tasted great. The flavors are inspired by several southeast Asian dishes, and the execution is great. All the servers are also friendly and passionate about the food as well, it seems.

Its was one of those infrequent rainy days in Pasadena so I googled soup and saw this place. I was completely blown away. I was there for lunch and had the oxtail appetizer, rice bowl, and soup and all were AMAZING! The oxtail was a little expensive, but so worth the price. The rice and soup were so thick, filling, and flavorful. Both were large enough to feed 2. I highly recommend! The lunch prices were a little cheaper than dinner, but its just so tasty it doesnt really matter.Update: I returned yesterday and to my dismay, the menu changed slightly. The oxtail was removed and rice bowl replaced with a rice plate, supposedly the lighter, spring version. Still yummy. I can theoretically appreciate the fact that they update their menu with the season, but still sad my favorite dishes were changed/removed.

A very unique restaurant that highlights Indonesian food and their signature dish is their broth. I never tried bone marrow before it was surprisingly very good. I ordered a handful of small plates, all good. I really enjoyed their fried rice and prime top sirloin noodles and broth.

As a native New Yorker Ive had my fair share of great restaurants with great service. Since moving to Pasadena, Bone Kettle is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Everything on the menu is innovative and seriously tasty. Theres always something new to try and their iconic broth is UNREAL. With COVID, we havent been able to dine in yet Bone Kettle still delivers the same amazing quality AND presentation of their delicious food... the best!

Its been said - you can judge a restaurant by its soup, salad dressing and sauces. Making each one of these takes culinary skill and separates excellent from average.And if I was judging this restaurant on its broth alone, I would give it 5 stars. The broth is heavenly. The depth of flavor makes everything you put in it better.However, I had the bone broth with chicken and noodles. The noodles were not fresh - they were dry and compact like you get in a ramen package at the supermarket. The ample chicken breast slices were actually chewy - partially because of the way they were sliced but also I fear because they had dried out too much. So A broth with D components. Perhaps theyve sacrificed their quality due to the pandemic in an effort to simplify service - but they should probably just sell the broth if theyre not going to put their best foot forward.

I came by for lunch and really enjoyed their chicken broth with noodles; my wife had their Asian chicken salad. Both dishes came out quickly and were both delicious but the decor and environment left a little to be desired. Its hard to tell if this place is fine dining or a quick lunch spot.Id recommend Bone Kettle looking to grab lunch with a date in old Town, but it didnt strike me as much more than a really good ramen stop.

Every positive thing you hear about this place is true. All of the dishes we had were amazing -- especially the nasi goreng and the bone broth noodle soup. On top of that, there were so many wonderful team members on hand to assist and make it a great experience for customers. It was our third time dining out during this whole pandemic and we loved it. The food is amazing. Ive came here twice during this pandemic. Despite the challenges they may be facing, they made sure that we were well taken care of and ensured that we were comfortable. The servers are extremely nice and the food was delicious. I recommend the Mapo Tofu Fries and Oxtail Dumplins. But what really captured my heart was the Beef Rib. Soooo juicy soft and buttery. It melts in your mouth. Make sure you get it with rice so you can soak up all the yummy drippings

Service was spectacular. Food spectacular (we had clams and also tried chicken wings and they were great). Ambience alright. You could smell the cleaning products used on floor. They could use an upgrade on cleaning supplies. We order a desert and we finished our coffees and the desert did not arrive. We cancelled the dessert and the Father of the proprietor came to the table to forcing us to have it. This gentleman ruined our experience. We drove from Santa Monica to try this restaurant because we saw it on Angelenos the documentary. The server saved the night with his terrific attitude. Note: We arrived for dinner at 5 PM and they didnt have 3 out of their 5 items in the menu. The worse part was the father of the chef attitude. NO PARKING.

Dinner her was great. Made a reservation through open table and I was seated right away when I arrived. At 7pm it started to get busy. The food was excellent. The broth portion was large and easily filled me up. My wife and I shared the meat side and had an excellent Sake and beer. Great service and great price for the quality and atmosphere.

Pretty good! Our server was very helpful and attentive, so even though it took a long time for my noodle bowl to come out I didnt really mind. The broth was poured at the table. Noodles were nicely chewy, fatty brisket was VERY fatty (I like that sort of thing). Next time Ill try the oxtail.

My husband and I love the food here. Even during Safe at Home we drove 30 minutes to pick up food. You cannot go wrong with the bone broth (we love the brisket). Another favorite of mine is the nasi goreng (fried rice). If you enjoy southeastern flavors you will love the food here.

The broth at this restaurant is fantastic. I have only tried a couple of their noodle dishes with the bone broth, but they have been delicious. I recommend ordering with a slow poached egg. The egg adds a wonderful silkiness to the broth once you mix it in.
