We went to Bonis for breakfast burritos on our way to Big Sur for a day trip. This was our first time here and were a little sceptical about it since it was in an industrial business area of Cambria, but this is an epic spot! I ordered the al pastor breakfast burrito and my wife ordered the potato breakfast burrito. Both were excellent, not greasy, and the salsas (green and red) were great. Remember...spicy in, spicy out. Well definitely stop in on another day trip to Big Sur.
Boni’s is awesome! We tried to find it on a Thursday. Note Google’s hours are off, check their site for the latest on when they operate. And also don’t use Apple Maps (we accidentally did one day) as it directs to their old freestanding location, when we wanted to visit the food truck always stationed by Premier Bank on Main St. So glad we stalked this spot and found it on the right morning before we left Cambria.Highly recommend the breakfast burrito, which comes in 3 sizes. We decided on sz small each, which was perfect for a quick breakie before our road trip home. We had it with their famous al pastor and, yes, the salsa verde is truly special. I almost wish we had gotten another to go for dinner.
A little off the beaten path but excellent food! I had the al pastor and carne asada tacos and my wife had the fried requires. The al pastor was absolutely delicious! Reasonably priced for this area and the place was hopping the entire time we were there so you know it’s a good spot.

My husband and I have been to cambria so many times and have always wondered about this place. Today we finally tried and i think weve found our new spot to come have lunch in the future! Everything was delicious and fresh. It was pretty crowded and we still got our food pretty quick. 5 stars hands down. We will be back again and again and again
Amazing authentic Mexican food. Had the Al Pastor Super Burrito and it was amazing! Wife had chicken enchiladas and they were amazing as well. Place is off the beaten path but worth going out of your way for. In a small industrial area. And... Did I mention the salsa was the bet I ever had. I wanted it on an IV - yes that good. Will definitely visit again. Saw lots of locals in line for food on a Tuesday during lunch, which says a lot. Cannot go wrong here!!!!

Never been disappointed at this place till today we walk up to order at 2pm the young man running it says there all taking a brake we understand people need to take there brake but in shifts not all of them and close and not take orders ridiculous!! The older guys that where running before didn’t have this unprofessional customer service!! Especially when it says they close at 5pm
The green chili taco was excellent and the al pastor was good too. The third taco I had was fine and Ive forgotten what it was as it is was not memorable. The location is in an industrial area so its take out only and no scenery. Good enough to detour to if you want some tacos.
Boni’s tacos are so good! They use fresh vegetables to make their delicious foods and you can taste the freshness right when you take a bite of the food. The employees are so nice too. The food is also filling it can last you at least 3 hours so you don’t have to worry to get more food later. If you like spicy food they have a really good spicy salsa too. Boni’s tacos is the best place to eat tacos or burritos you guys should definitely go their!❤️❤️!
Best burritos in town! I like the carne asada. The spicy red sauce is deliciously flavorful, not just hot. The milder green sauce is tasty, too. No chips, but the food is so satisfying, you dont need them.Very few seats, plan on taking your meal to go.
We have been eating at Bonis for years and the food and service have always been impeccable. Best Mexican food in SLO county, hands down!This review, however, is for their catering service. We recently had Bonis cater our rehearsal dinner and welcome party the night before our wedding. Cesar was super easy to work with, helpful, and flexible with all of our menu and scheduling requests. The food was phenomenal, and the price was great! Could not recommend Bonis enough for catering, or just a casual lunch if youre passing through the area.
$10 for a plate with three tacos, rice, and beans? And theyre really good? Seriously? Is this even California at that price? Clearly five stars. Id add photos but I ate the tacos too quickly...because tacos.
Very yummy! I had the gordita, It had a thick tasty corn tortilla; very fresh I also tried the breakfast burrito. Its was good too. I especially like the way it was grilled. Nice crunch around the soft inside. I liked the sauces too. I guess I liked everything about this place including the off the beaten path location.
We miss the original Boni. His son, Cesar, has a lot to learn about catering weddings. We went with local, small businesses only for our wedding. Others were significantly more professional than this emotional kid was. Specifically Dante & Patricia at Carlocks in Los Osos, were BEYOND EXCELLENT. Modern Symphony (Steve) was our DJ & absolutely phenomenal. Cesar at Boni’s was not. Lots of excuses and blame on us. Mallarkey. Go with a different company.I sent this message to Cesar after my husband spoke with him: “I asked my husband to speak with you today since he is more tactful than I. However he let me know your response and I’m absolutely dissatisfied with the service we received from your establishment and more disappointed you gave him a list of excuses with no apologies for the following; which will be in my review:Essentially, my issues are these:- Late arrival on day of event- You say everyone grabbed stuff, my family says you didn’t have control of situation- No dressing for salad despite requests, alleged that it was dropped off. Nothing was labeled. What was salsa? Dressing?- Chicken enchiladas had no sauce (just chicken inside tortilla? Very dry)- Chicken enchiladas were marked “cheese” and cheese enchiladas were marked “chicken” which was upsetting to our guests who are vegetarians- Unclear communication (e.g. no record of our deposit, whether we drop off chaffing dishes, and whether they should be cleaned)- Kirkland brand chips? We could have purchased that for significantly less than you charged.$1,800 is not the level of service we got.”Here’s the message we got from Cesar in return: ”Hi guys, I’m very sorry that you guys weren’t satisfied with our service.I apologize for arriving about 15 minutes late and for the lack of communication.I am 100% sure I included dressing for the salad. The woman who was helping set up had a copy of the invoice and we went over every single item to confirm it was there, and it was, she even wanted to place it in an ice bowl.I also gave you guys a VERY fair warning that our enchiladas do not hold well for travel, however you guys insisted that you wanted them. I uncovered each tray of enchiladas to add the toppings (lettuce, s/c, cheese). I saw one of your helpers put the covers back on as I was leaving, apparently in the wrong order, again that is something that I have no control overWe have also always used Kirkland brand chips. Since Mark said he used to eat at Boni’s almost everyday when working in Cambria, I assumed he knew what chips we used. We have never made our own chips and have never claimed to. Also, we don’t charge for the chips, we charge for the guacamole.We are a very small family business, run by 6 people in total. We try our absolute hardest to ensure that every event we cater goes as smoothly as possible, and that our clients are happy. However there is only so much that is under our control. Everything you ordered was delivered.If you guys still feel that writing a bad review will correct the situation, well there’s not much I can do.Best to you both.”
They know what they’re doing at Boni’s. Old style vertical rotisserie with simply amazing, richly flavored al pastor. The asada was also really good but the other main stand out is the chili verde pork. This tiny kitchen (and their truck) simply know how to do succulent, mouthwatering pork. Local favorite and so glad this tourist found it. Taco, gordita, burrito…doesn’t matter filled with their delicious meats.

This is more of a taco stand than a sit down place. They do have a few chairs and tables (3 tables, including one thats generally folded away).We got a plate of 3 mini tacos + rice and beans. The pork Verde was good. Al pastor was meh. Chicken was pretty good.Though I was in Mexico City recently, so my taco standards are currently a little too high. Maybe if I go back in a year later, Id be like - ooh perfect tacos. Lol.The place is family run and they seemed friendly and welcoming.Overall, a decent spot for reasonably priced tacos.
Must have authentic mexican food when visiting Cambria, their truck is on Main St on the weekends, I had their Carne asada tacos and my partner had the famous Al Pastor, both were delicious.. meat very flavorful and fresh. Salsa was really good too, service was great. Must stop by when in Cambria for real Mexican food.
We were on a road trip and stumbled upon this amazing taco spot. We ordered the biggest breakfast burrito they had for about $10 and it was more than enough to share. Super tasty and highly recommended. Get the burrito, you won’t regret it.

Bonis place wasnt too hard to find, the food was good. Loved their tacos and burritos. They have a couple of tables to sit, but mostly people do take outs from here. Would recommend taking out your food and sitting in the Moonstone beach park for a wonderful afternoon lunch.
Great place for good on the go Mexican food! Reasonable prices and nice portions. I love their taquitos! They are super crispy. Salsas have good flavors. I recommend visiting them in Tin City during the week or their food truck on Main street and Burton on weekends.
Not good today, usually top notch. Ordered 3 asada mini tacos and two chicken mini tacos for the wife. Take out only now and when I got back to the Cambria Pines Lodge found the Chicken Tacos were overcooked pork with bits of Pineapple (el pastor) and the Asada was overcooked and very dry. Almost tasted days old. Side of flan was excellent. Well looks like LBJ Pizza later! Hard to know when its takeout!With the $3.00 + my change tip I left, sure blew a twenty!
Absolutely the best food Ive had. The staff are always friendly and nice. Prices are great, and seriously the food is amazing. The burritos are a great size and taste amazing. My favorite food place when I come up to Cambria.
OK, my third time here was not the charm. I dont understand the high rating. Each time Ive tried their dishes, I have been sorely disappointed. I tend to go for carne asada, which here is bone dry and overly salty, pretty much like beef jerky! I wont do that mistake hoping for a better dish again...
I actually had Boni’s cater a rehearsal dinner for my son’s wedding in Cayucos. Oh, my! What a brilliant choice! I looked like the “wow” hostess with their great food. Juan and his wife made our evening complete...lots of delicious food, served on time with friendly interactions with our guests...about 100 people. And honestly...the best beans I’ve ever tasted...and being born and raised in SoCal, that’s saying a lot. I highly recommend Boni’s Tacos food and service!

Seriously underwhelming. We had the chicken and the “reknowned” al pastor burritos and they were both so bland and dry we couldn’t finish them. We can’t figure out why this place is so highly rated. Maybe the regular cook was off work today? For anyone who knows burritos, you’ve been warned.

Some of the best food in Cambria. Great Mexican street food for a taco truck this far north of the border. Child Verde was very authentic. Tortillas are fresh but not handmade. Refritos were flat/soupy. Cash only.
We had a little trouble finding Boni’s. One map app said it was “closed today”. When we arrived in Cambria, Boni’s was nowhere to be found. We asked a local - the old-fashioned way. It’s in a small industrial park, away from the main drag, behind a hardware store and next to an electrical shop. There was a line, and it wasn’t super fast, but worth the wait. We had tacos & a huarache al pastor, a tostada, no meat, and a burrito with carne asada. All were excellent, perfect ratios of meat to beans to lettuce. The salsa fresca was smoky and not overpowering. A great stop before or after hitting Hwy 1.

Tucked away in an industrial park, this is the best burrito I had in touring up and down the California coast. Be prepared to wait a while. If youre passing by Cambria going north or south, stop here for lunch. Take your taco or burrito over to the coast and enjoy the view.
As we were quite starved by the time we looked for places to eat along the road, we found Bonis Tacos and it was more than we could have hoped for. The food and service was perfect!
It sorta like a hole in the wall but the foo is really good. I ordered the tacos. Made the way its supposed to be. Not taco bell tacos but real Mexican food. The horchata wasnt bad either.

The restaurant is a take out or they have two patio tables where for two. This is a tiny kitchen and they have a window to order. Do not under estimate them because their gorditas are good. Gorditas are tiny, so youll need 2-4 to full fill your appetite.This is a very small restaurant with one kitchen and one ordering window. In front of them they have two goals for two. The chubby ones are the best, although very small, the size of the palm of your hand (not counting your fingers 😅). Ive tried almost everything, and Im still loyal to the gorditas. This little place is for ordering and taking food because it is located in a series of wineries. There is no parking, and there are no tables. We like to order lunch or dinner, and go eat at the beach which is less than 10 minutes away. They sell cold bottled soft drinks which is something we like too.
When we come to this side of the sea we always try to come to Bonis, especially those hand-made green chili gorditas, they are delicious.

I’m from LA, so I can’t say they have the best tacos in Cali, but best in the central coastal area.Everything we tried is really pretty good. Asada, Al pastor, Chile verde and especially the salsas. They have a spicy red that has a real kick and a savory green and I mix both.So far I have tried both locations. The weekend “truck” centrally located in Cambria and their brick and mortar which is harder to find, but worth it.Coolest part is you can choose the size of burrito you want!

The breakfast burritos & tacos had a generous portion of meat. There are only three tables outside for seating so dont expected to eat there. Why not take your food to the nearby Moonstone Beach and enjoy the view while eating some fine Mexican street food 😉.

Im literally lucky to have this bootlegged to me over 150 miles away thanks to my family! The photo you see is that burrito being consumed far away, if I am not in Cambria myself. Thanks Bonis! Last time I dropped by their little truck and tried all their meats on tacos, the pastor and chile verde are the standouts. The salsa verde is very good. This time got the chile verde super burrito, it was huge and tasty! Their bean and cheese burrito is a sleeper though, so add one of those to your order. All in all, i think burritos are the move here, you won’t be disappointed. Can’t wait to try their breakfast burritos next time!

They have a truck with a permanent location on Main street, but it was closed when I visited. I had the chile verde which was fantastic. Tender pork chunks with a strong note of cumin, not overly based on tomatillos, which was a refreshing change. Great refried beans, and perfectly fluffy rice. Not much seating, and its all outdoors, but its well worth the side trip from the main drag.
