Classic diner vibes and food. We were staying at the Hyatt across the street and were lucky to have this spot nearby.Massive portions - the sourdough bread is delightful and the eggs benedict + corn beef hash were good. We want to come back outside of breakfast to try their famous pastrami. Never a wait, even on weekends, but it stays busy. If you’re in the area, worth a visit!

You can never go wrong with Brent’s … perfect for hangovers lol or just when you need sustenance. They have a comprehensive menu as is expected with a NY deli, and I’ve never had anything come out less than stellar. The 555 sandwich is not even appropriate it’s so good 👅 but you can also be healthy with an egg white and turkey bacon breakfast burrito. On weekends there’s sometimes a wait but you can skip the line and sit at a high top in the bar🎉🥂Ron the owner is frequently there and it so nice and friendly💗 This is one of our weekly places to eat💗🎉

I’m so disgusted that your restaurant never seems to be able to follow directions. Every single time I have ordered corn beef from you guys and requested as well as paid for lien. It literally comes 50 to 60% full of fat and I’m done with the lack of respect for your customers requests. If you want to sell fat then sell fat. I’m buying meat!

Very clean, the staff is attentive. My Italian sub was just OK but my wifes 555 was very good. The pastrami is super juicy and flavorful, thats the sandwich to get.

I have eaten a lot of Ruben sandwiches over the years, but this was the best by far. The meat was tender and super fresh. No hard or dry edges and a ton of amazing flavor. Rye bread was equally amazing, and perfectly toasted. Flavorful sauerkraut and dressing completed the amazing blend of flavors. Swapped curly fries for the steak cut. Oh, and they also give you home made pickles when you sit down. Overall, the perfect deli experience. Certainly not cheap, but you dont walk out, you roll. Definitely could have split the sandwich!

The servers were very attentive and nice.When we outgrew our table, our server suggested a nice big corner booth and was very accommodating.I would have given the food 4 stars because it tasted good, however I noticed as I was eating my bowl of fresh fruit, all these small, white things. I was really confused and kind of concerned but realized it was probably just cottage cheese. However it was still a bit odd and I was ultimately tuned off and didnt eat it.

Ill be coming here for a long time now at least 20 years but its been a long time since Ive been here for about 3 or 4 years ago. This place has always been good. Today we ordered the half pastrami half soup and half corned beef and matzo ball soup also Latka. It was good the pastrami was perfect and the corned beef sandwich was perfect. Service was great and the place was clean very crowded as usual came here around 10:30 a.m. and more people started coming in. Anyway if youve not eaten here I suggest you try it you wont be disappointed try any of the food on the menu Im sure theyre all good.

This is the BEST DELI in THE WEST. You cant find fresher corn beef or hot pastrami on crispy crusted rye bread. The Fish platters are absolutely delicious. Make sure to try BRENTS and you will thank me.

9-17-2023: Its been a long time since weve visited Brents. So the five of us decided to go there tonight and it did not disappoint. We all had brisket and corned beef plates - delicious and the portions were pretty generous. Round this all out with Matzo ball soup, cole slaw and chopped liver and we were all very satisfied (could have had a bigger scoop of chopped liver of course). There was plenty to take home. We didnt even start to eat the tapioca dessert, so that that went straight home for later!Dana was our server - she was very friendly and super attentive even though it was the end of night. All of our requests and needs were handled without any glitches. Overall, a great experience - well be back soon!

A classic delicatessen, Brents has a sizable menu offering everything from traditional breakfast favorites to lunch and dinner. The quality of the food is good and the portions are large. In my experience the service can be a bit iffy ...it can be difficult to get hold of a server and their general attentiveness varies. Otherwise a nice location and plenty of room. Prices are moderate.

The most delicious and wonderful lunch spot in Westlake! The ambiance and food is always perfect and on point. Ronnie the owner has owned the restaurant for 50+ years! Not to mention the portions are always deluxe in size so you will never remain unsatisfied when leaving! This place always takes it to another level when it comes to service and taste. From baked goods to their sandwiches and matzo ball soup (especially the fries) yum!. I always leave with a smile on my face and a full belly! This is a must try if you are ever in the Westlake area and in need of a good lunch spot!

Youve got to love BRENTS.* Serving delicious, New York style deli in a comfortable California style restaurant.We ordered take-out, by phone, to be shared with our New York City friends. (When we inform them that we were serving deli our skeptical friends stated, There are very few great delicatessens west of NY.)Except for the bread, the order was ready on time and was correct. Brents double baked rye bread makes any sandwich at least twice as good, so we ordered a loaf, The counterman waited until we arrived, then sliced the still warm loaf, on a rotary slicer, one slice at a time, for perfect cuts. It took about three minutes. We grabbed a couple of slices, before wrapping.A selection of condiments is available at the pickup counter. Best of all, everything is packed properly for our 4-hour trip.Our friends will assemble their own corned beef/pastrami sandwiches.I use the double baked rye with my homemade, vegan roast beef.Our meal was completed with Brents pickled green tomatoes, new dill pickles, and my homemade, vegan potato salad.To quote our surprised friends, Its about as good as the delis back home. Of course, I should point out, their sandwiches were 3 inches thick and they took the leftovers.Parking is wheelchair accessible, as is the eatery.* The family run Brents has been named the number one deli in the Los Angeles area by Zagat Survey and the Los Angeles Times Readers Choice. This is the second deli in the Brents family. The original Brents Deli was purchase from its previous owner in 1967 for $1,700. The name was not changed. Like really Jewish food? This is your place. Not only do they have killer deli sandwiches and items, but they have off the beaten path Jewish cuisine. Like Stuffed Kasha and Farfel, a casing stuffed with meat and grain and cooked as a sausage served on a sauteed and boiled pasta. Never seen that before. And traditional Stuffed Cabbage in Sweet and Sour sauce.

This was my second visit to Brent’s Deli. It was as good the second time as it was the first. Today I had Brent’s #13, the first time I had the Pastrami sandwich and the split pea soup. I am very impressed with the quality, the service and the general cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. It is a great atmosphere with delicious food. I definitely recommend.

I used to think no restaurant could touch Nate ’N Al’s, but that’s no longer the case! Everything weve eaten here was BETTER! At Brent’s the latkes are divine and the sweet cheese-filled blintzes are delectable!! This place is HUGE and so is the menu. Its a deli combined with a regular restaurant. Its clean, friendly and the staff was wonderful. I highly recommend it! BRAVO 👏

We were referred to Brents Delicatessen and Bakery in Thousand Oaks by some friends. It is a very well-known place. We were very grateful that they did, the food was delectable and delightful. The sandwiches were large enough that we could only eat half of what we ordered. My hubby ordered the Ortega Brisket Melt with Steak Fries and Coleslaw and he loved it 😋. I ordered the French Dip and the Au Jus was excellent. It was also served with Steak Fries and Coleslaw. The steak fries and coleslaw were also very good. We ordered the Rice Pudding for dessert and it was exquisite. Our server, Dallas, was a true gem. She was knowledgeable about all menu items, upbeat, friendly, mindful of our needs, courteous and maintained a professional manner at all times. A true joy😊. I always make a point to stop at Brents if passing through Westlake. It is conveniently located right off the 101. The food is delicious and service is always great. They have a huge variety of food to try and deserts/ bakery items to take home. They also have a bar area with seating if you want to watch sports while eating. Ive never had a bad meal here, and almost always have leftovers because the portions are huge. Try Brents Deli, you wont leave disappointed!

There are very few really good delis in the Los Angeles area. Fortunately, Brents is one of them. The sandwiches are delicious, with lots of other great options on the menu. Well worth the drive from Ventura. The portions are large, so there usually are leftovers for the next day.

Coming to Brents last week reminded me of the time I had breakfast there before going to the Reagan library with my dad and the waitress gave me a complimentary everything bagel with cream cheese (this was in ~2014). This place hasnt changed in the last ~7 years. Im happy theyre sticking with the if it aint broke dont fix it ethos. Anyways, I had the #13 on rye special with fries and potato salad which is a fantastic value. I would order the coleslaw next time to try it. I also had their bagels which are great but are fairly petite. Service is excellent and extremely fast as it was in 2014 and I love the bar seating.

What a great place Brent’s is! MacReeves and I popped in on a rainy SoCal afternoon with a hankering for soup.Matzo ball satisfied us mightily. We shared a bowl of the good stuff which featured a tennis ball sized beauty that we both gobbled down between sips of golden broth, thin noodles, carrots and shredded chicken.We split their most popular sandwich, the black pastrami Reuben: a tour de force of luscious cured beef, French dressing, Swiss, and sauerkraut on grilled light rye with caraway. MacReeves said it was the best sandwich he’s had in a long time. Settle down, bro. It’s a great sammie but no need to gush. The steak fries were hot and fresh and the little cup of coleslaw was spot on: cool, sweet and refreshing between bites of pastrami.We allowed ourselves to be seduced by the mile high carrot cake which ended up being all show and little substance. It lacked flavor, spice, and carrots tbh. What little frosting there was, was the best part. Nice and cream cheesey and not too sweet.Service was casual, friendly and efficient. With coffee the bill came out to $50 before tip; not cheap but certainly fair for the quality of the food, the pleasant atmosphere (expansive, high-ceilinged space) and very good service. We will return.

Absolute powerhouse for an early morning breakfast. My partner got the matzah Brie, which being from a Jewish household I’ve never seen on a menu, she absolutely loved it.I myself got two eggs, links, cottage cheese and toast. What a great place this is! The food is fantastic. I had a Pastrami and turkey on rye with a bowl of matzo ball soup. The flavors of the sandwich were perfectly balanced and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Same with the soup. I love matzo ball and I wish there were more places I could get it. If you can buy pho and ramen everywhere, why not matzo ball? The restaurant was clean and upscale. It didnt have a deli feel to it at all, which isnt necessarily a plus but just an observation. I generally like my delis to feel like delis but given the quality of the food, Im not complaining. The service was a little slow given the time of day I stopped in but it was friendly and thorough. Ill be back again for sure.

Im from the SF Bay Area and no trip to SoCal is complete without a visit to Brents! This time, we ate at Brents the first day we arrived (for lunch) and heck we might even eat there a second time before we leave because its just that good.Theres absolutely nothing that compares anywhere near San Francisco (can you please open a location up north???) The food was awesome as always and the service was amazing. Our waitress was even so thoughtful that when our daughter ordered french toast with no butter, she went as far as to ensure the french toast wasnt even cooked in butter (even though my daughter just meant that she didnt want butter on top of it.) I had to relearn that the heartstopper sandwich has been renamed the 555 but it was still just as good. And it still has yet to live up to its name as a heartstopper...but Ill keep ordering them to check.

Great Jewish deli in Thousand Oaks. Cornbeef sandwich is so thick and heavy! Its not possible to fit it in your mouth. It is delicious! The Chinese chicken salad with light dressing is pretty good. Matso ball in the matso ball soup is ginormous! The soup is decent. I wish they gave more broth with the soup, but it was a bit stingy on the broth. The servers are fairly friendly.

We normally dine in but since the pandemic we have been ordering pick up about once a month because the food is always good and consistent. In the last 6 times weve ordered pick up, something has been wrong. Wrong side, no side, incorrect burger temp, wrong bread, etc. The other day we picked up a turkey sandwich and a bacon avocado burger. This was $48.00. The turkey sandwich was good but they forgot the cranberry sauce. My burger was missing the avocado. Not to be a Karen, but this is unacceptable. Its EVERY time weve ordered food for the last 6 months. You charge me $21.00 for a burger and fries it should have everything on it along with the correct side. I just dont get it. The prices are outrageous to begin with and my order is never right. Yes, Ive called in. Yes, they are always sorry. Im just done with the frustration. Its probably just me so take my whining with a grain of salt.

Did not like the food as much as Jerrys Deli.I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, it seemed like the portions were off. It had a lot of bread so it was far more filling than Jerrys, but there was noticeably less meat. I didnt think it was a fair trade off in value. It was so filling in fact that I could not even finish it.The sandwich also came with strawberry jelly rather than compote.Lastly, the price was higher than Jerrys.

Also we’ve used their catering a few times & it really impressed; plenty of food & very good quality. Super efficient server; however, a beef taco salad manifested itself as chicken taco salad. Then when sent back for the beef, a frenzied and perhaps lazy cook -- just guessing -- churned the chicken to hide it inro the salad greens and then placed the ground beef in top. The server bent over backwards to rectify the situation thus the five stars, but I cant say the experience was a positive one. Very nice deli all in all, tho.

The first prince deli open in 1967 and without a doubt it is as close as possible to a true New York deli that I have found in California. All the food is superb from the matzo ball and noodle soup to the monstrous deli platter which is cheaper than even buying the same meats at the deli counter and they bring you tons of pickles that are fully done and sour and completely delicious. They have miniature potato pancakes called latkes served with sour cream and a cherry applesauce that is just wonderful. Theyre brisket is so tender it is just melt in your mouth. The corned beef and pastrami and salami in a sandwich are so big I cant even open my mouth to bite into it. The lox, which is smoked salmon, was served up with all the appropriate goodies from cream cheese and toasted bagels to onions tomatoes and pepper and capers All things considered I could go back Time after Time and be happy they have three locations one in North Hollywood one in Westlake and the new one in Agoura hills which is very open with comfortable seating and very nicely appointed.

I have become increasingly more disappointed in Brents Westlake Village. Their food was never really good deli quality, but it was passable for the most part. Their ethnic Jewish food was shameful. If their original recipes were good, then they didnt teach their kitchen staff well enough.Regarding take out - which most of us have had to get used to recently - it is SERIOUSLY disappointing! 70% of the time the order is wrong. However, the most disappointing part is the quality and temperature of the food.Last night we ordered dinner over the phone, (because online I couldnt use a gift card, nor order a baked potato). When I arrived, I was told the food wasnt ready and I waited about 8ish minutes. I dont mind waiting, I actually got there a bit early so I could grab the food when it was hot. Unfortunately, someone wasnt paying attention, because when I got home (a 8 minute drive) the food was cold. I did look through the order to be sure it was right, but I didnt think I had to get a temperature reading. (BTW: the au jus for the brisket sandwich was missing)Additionally, the fries were way over salted and the onion rings were inedible. I dont know what they used to coat them, but it tasted like it came off the floor.I will say one good thing - all of their soups are delicious!So, aside from soup, we will NEVER order from Brents again!Wont someone please open a good deli in the Conejo!!!! We always stop here either on our way or on our return. This time it was awful. Our server was rude to us and literally missed the edge of our table and splashed soup everywhere. I reported her on the out. It took a long time to receive a half portion chicken salad. We had to request it to go. We sometimes head over to Brents for breakfast after church. My wife loves breakfast and they have quite a selection on their menu. The food is great and they serve you pretty quickly. You generally have a little wait when you get there, but they get you seated right away. I live in Camarillo and drive out to Westlake just to eat there (that should give you an idea of how good the food is). I certainly recommend it.

Decent breakfast place. The coffee is terrible though. Several of my friends will not go there because the coffee is so bad. They do not offer any flavored creamers to make it more palatable. This place does a huge business probably because there are only three breakfast establishments in the area I have ordered all the eggs benedict options.I actually prefer the food at eggs and things.

Fifteen seniors and myself on an outing on New Years Eve show up at Brents No reservations. The place was crazy busy and the staff was very polite and worked together to accommodate us. We ended up having a room in the back to ourselves. Food was excellent. Perfect way to start the New Year.

I have celiac disease, and I would not recommend eating here if you have this or any food allergies at all. Before eating here, I called Brents to find out how they are about gluten cross-contamination in their kitchens. I was told over the phone that they have a gluten free menu, and was assured that they are very conscious of cross contamination and go to lengths to avoid it. I was happy to hear this, but when we actually ate here they served me food with gluten several times. I ordered a half sandwich and soup. Chicken soup was on the gluten free menu, and I asked the waitress if that was their chicken noodle because I didnt see another soup, and she told me it was. I ordered it but asked if she could double check that it was gluten free. She came with the soup but never asked. So I asked her if she could please tell me what was in the soup. She then went back and asked the chef who told her it was definitely gluten free. I had never seen gluten free noodles that look like this before, so just to double check I asked her if the chef told her what the ingredients are. She told me he didnt know but was sure it was gluten free. She offered to go get the bag and look at the ingredients for me, which I asked her to please do. She came back with a picture on her phone of the ingredients... The first of which was durum wheat flour. NOT gluten free. I sent the soup back and got a salad. Then she had asked me if I wanted my bread toasted on my sandwich and I asked if it was toasted in the same place they toast other bread. She said yes, so I said I would not like it toasted and that it was very important that it was kept separate from all wheat ingredients because I am very sensitive and didnt want to get sick. They brought me my sandwich toasted. She apologized about this and after having the sandwich remade, she told me she spoke to the manager who had told her that the chicken soup without the noodles is gluten free, but the chefs did not know this. Seems a pretty big oversight to me... Especially since I had to ask 3 times to figure this out. I wonder how many other people got sick here because of their carelessness. After mistakes involving such a serious allergy were made I would have expected either the chef or manager to come over and apologize, or reassure me in some way that the food I did receive was actually safe, or perhaps a discount on the bill. None of these things happened.Stay away from this place if you have any food allergies. They dont know what is in their own food and dont take allergies seriously despite their claims.

Waitress was missing in action. Had to ask another waitress to take our order. My friends food was fine. Mine had seasoning I was unaware of and I did not like it. When I asked our waitress about it she could not comment. I did not eat it and she did not remove it from the bill. I am sure this is probably a good experience for most because the place was packed but I will never return. It was my first and last time.

Wed heard good things about Brents, so when we realized we were near one, we were really excited to try it. Its an hour and a half away from home, so we had a long drive before we got to our food, so that may have had some effect on the outcome.I found the crust on the rye bread to be too hard to be able to eat as a sandwich. The brisket dippers were on sweet rolls, which I didnt think was appropriate for the dish. The latkes were burnt - they were very dark brown. The corned beef was run of the mill, the pastrami was mostly fat, and the pickles were bland.All of the staff we came in contact with were really friendly, so at least theres that.It cost almost $100 for four people to eat including one appetizer. I think next time were in the area, we wont stop in.

“Amazing pastrami sandwich ”Saw this place online, once I read the reviews I had to try it out. I had the Reuben pastrami sandwich. Everything about it was good the bread, the pastrami was so juicy and fresh. It was very busy, we asked to sit on the stools at the kitchen, we both got a seat straight away. Called in to place an order. The lady answering the phone was rude and it was like pulling teeth. Hung up and went elsewhere, where they were polite and happy to take my order. I wanted to give this 5 stars. They are nothing like their counterpart in Northridge. If I could swap the quality of food from the Northridge location with the customer service from Westlake, it would be perfect. Westlake lacked in quality of food. Ordered the club and it was pre-made!!! The bread was soggy from the lettuce and tomato. No mayo on it like I asked. Glad there wasnt, it would have been way too soggy. The avocado was already turning brown and the bacon had a thick layer of grease from being in the fridge for too long. Very disappointed. However their customer service was on point. The hosts were very accommodating and diligent on getting orders out. Kitchen should follow their lead.

Great diner feel in Thousand Oaks. The pastrami is well made (between the thickness one would get at Canters and Langers) and is on good rye bread with a good amount of dressing without being soaked. Most other things on the menu that Ive tried are decent but not particularly memorable. The pancakes and pickles fall flat, in my opinion. Parking is easy in a large free lot, and the staff is no-nonsense but very efficient. Good spot for weekend brunch, if you are in the area.

Their pastrami dip is very good. The pastrami is seasoned perfectly for my taste, not too salty. Perfect combination with the dip.
