The bread is amazing here! Definitely get the bread. The pasta was yummy too. We arrived at 2 pm on a Sunday. They open at 2... but the kitchen wasnt open. Make sure you call and make a reservation before heading over because they might not really be open.

I came here with 4 friends on a Friday evening and it wasnt crowded. I did a phone reservation a few days before. We ordered margherita pizza and 3 pasta dishes of the following: Spaghettini Con Anatra (homemade spaghettini with duck ragu sauce), Spaghetti Alla Carbonara Romana (spaghetti with pork cheeks & egg) & Fetuccine Al Funghi (hand cut egg noodles w/ portobella & porcini mushrooms). I was glad that my friends and I shared all the pasta dishes to try a few bites from each.I love that their pasta is hand made. Each pasta is also al dente (chewy & firm). The duck ragu pasta dish was pretty light in flavor but still flavorful with the duck. The mushrooms were juicy and fresh and the egg noodles were wonderful. The carbonara dish was quite rich and creamy in flavor but its crispy bacon and peppery taste balanced out the richness from the cheese. The pizza was also delicious with the thin crust and char from wood fire. It was juicy from the tomatoes & cheesy. The pesto sauce was also a nice extra touch to the pizza. I tried their nectarine & silican almond for gelato this time. Nectarine tasted just like the fruit and it was refreshing. The almond was quite nutty.I also recommend their focaccia bread and pistachio gelato. I was sad that they didnt have pistachio gelato this time since I usually get that when I have visited Bulgarini the past few times. As someone who loves pistachios, their pistachio gelato is one of the best I have tasted in LA area. 😊😋

You know this place is all about the gelato-- the food was average and very very expensive. Its weird, too, they dont give you a bill ... I was charged for a bottle of water, two plates (very small) two appetizers and two ice creams, I was charged the shocking sum of $110 not including the tip--Im certain I was overcharged but I couldnt prove it because the owner just totes it up on his computer and gives you the final number without any itemization and since hes right there what are you going to do? Ill tell you what youre going to do : if you go there insist on a bill. If you eat the food, which is overrated. Actually, dont get the food, its totally not worth it even at half the price they charge. Get the gelato, though, its very good, even though the flavors I want they never seem to have, the gelato is very good.

Maybe this is super authentic Italian food, I cant speak to that, but I got the duck ragu and it was not at all what I expected. It was more similar to a thick chicken noodle soup. The noodles tasted like the egg chicken soup noodles and the sauce had no tomato or the things you would expect in a ragu, or the usual slow simmer process. The meat was tiny chunks and didnt taste like duck. It also had long thyme stems that got suck in my mouth. Only ate a couple bites. The person I went with got the wild boar pasta and also didnt like it. The noodles were better, but the sauce wasnt tomato as expected and still didnt taste good.Way too expensive for what we got.

Ordered pizza for take out, when it was time to pay I was told it was $26. Just 3 weeks ago I ordered the same pizza for togo I was charged $24. It seems like they just make up the price on the spot, and justifies it as “tax”. Come on, be consistent. When business jip you a dollar or two and counting pennies it really leaves a bad taste in our mouth. Keep it consistent. Keep it honest.

I had high hopes for this place from what I read and saw, and I was not disappointed!! The gentleman recommended seasonal flavors — lemon and almond, and we also tried strawberry and coffee. Honestly, lemon and almond were above and beyond what we’ve expected. They were soooo goood!! And they were so good together!!! Super refreshing, no artificial flavors, just tasted like fresh, creamy delicately sweet lemon and freshly roasted almond. Strawberry and coffee were good also, but not as impressive as the seasonal ones. It’s so hard to find gelato places that actually make gelato themselves and especially with fresh, seasonal ingredients. I think we just found one and so excited and glad to have tried this place!

This is OK italian ice cream, nothing outstanding, but certainly good. (I regularly travel to Italy.) - Service though was extremely low energy and almost rude, even having a bad day is no excuse for such behavior. While I as a European are really tired of tipping in the U.S. even for the worst service (thank your employers), this would be the perfect moment not to tip at all.

If you want the best Italian food which feels like youre back in Tuscany, this is it! And the pistachio ice cream is the best one in LA.

Dinner here was an amazing and unexpected discovery! It was as though a restaurant from Italy had dropped into an unassuming strip mall. We were seated outside on a warm summer evening, though heat lamps are available for cooler times. We started with the light, crisp focaccia and a savory ribollita. We then had a variety of pasta dishes, including a light duck ragu and a rich carbonara. The pasta was fresh and had a great texture, again reminiscent of Italy. Finally, we finished with an assortment of gelato. Theres a small but friendly staff running the whole operation out of limited space, but the quality was wonderful!

Quite possibly the only dinner restaurant of quality in Altadena, which can unfortunately make it quite busy and dramatically slow down the service. Luckily it has great ambience to make up for it. Incredible pasta and wine. And the foccacia bread! My god, incomparable.
