This place is amazing. From the host(s) to the server, my partner and I enjoyed our visit here so much. We had the 2 most amazing pizzas and some appetizers to share - what’s more is that they gave us a 3rd pizza for free when they mistakenly provided us the incorrect pizza (even though it was insanely delicious!). Our server was so friendly and genuine. The patio is okay - inside and out front would be preferred however. But aside from that, loved this place!

This is probably my favorite Italian restaurant near San Diego so far! The pizzas were amazing; they had a soft and fluffy dough, well balanced and fresh flavors, and delicious overall. My only regret was eating them too fast. The burrata and eggplant appetizers were also delicious and beautiful. We ordered the mille-feuille which was perfect: the puff pastry was incredibly crispy and the pastry cream was smooth and fragrant.

We enjoyed our visit here in early July 2023. There were fibers there for dinner. We had a number of antipastos and two pizzas, one vegetarian one with meat. A tasty salad, and some other enjoyable food that Im not remembering at the moment. Our waiter did a wonderful job. The atmosphere was great. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their evening. It was pricey. A good place to enjoy good Italian cuisine with attentive and friendly staff.

Buona Forchetta is EASILY my favorite pizza place. The perfect pizza every time we go. It just tastes so natural and authentic. You dont feel bloated like all the other pizza places. Everytime we visit San Diego, my wife and I automatically think of this place. You cant go wrong ordering the Regina Margherita. 10/10

This was some of the most amazing pizza. The service was wonderful and the food amazing. We all got pizza and they tasted amazing. We visited on a July Saturday afternoon and they sat our party of 7 immediately. The Sergio pizza is to die for. Highly recommended!

I tried multiple times during our vacation to stop in for lunch or dinner to one of their several locations and it just never worked out... until almost the end. We came on Sunday mid-afternoon, maybe 4pm, that perfect hour. Very few patrons, seated right away in a large back room so no one had to hear our kids (I appreciate this strategy).The calamari was alright; ordered only because the kids inhale it. Had a difficult time making a selection off the specials menu, the options were amazing! But I finally chanced the carbonara ravioli with butter/sage sauce. Absolutely delicious! Sage can be daunting to kids but they both enjoyed their portion.Now. I am not a pizza person. Husband and boys can eat it all day but not me (Even then, I prefer a pizza bianche). But when I enjoy it, its because it is made very well, with time and style. Buona Forchetta nails a perfect pizza. Regardless of topping, the crust was just right. It was not heavy or doughy, just right to carry a fresh sauce and quality toppings. We had a Margherita with sausage and pepperoni ~ the cupping kind~ and a Sergio. The former was good but the latter was just lovely. A special kind of pizza can carry a salad :)No room for dessert. Not even considered. To me, this is always the best sign of a good meal out.We usually stay in Carlsbad so we are thrilled they have a location in Encinitas. Looking forward to our next trip.

We had such an amazing experience. We went out for our anniversary dinner and felt welcomed, treated and the meal was incredible. They have one pizza that comes without cheese (stated on the menu and our server made sure we knew) it was so different but I really enjoyed the bright flavors of the sauce, tender mushrooms and the perfect dough. Definitely a great place to get dough for your pizza oven! I added fresh spinach after it was baked, really nice. We liked the reasonably priced wine by the bottle and still or sparkling water.

Made a reservation for 13 and we were seated promptly by Emily even though we were 20 minutes early. She was very welcoming and excited to see us. After being seated in the downstairs room, Yvonne (I may have spelled that wrong) took our drink order and was the friendliest and happiest server you could imagine.We enjoyed the fresh bread with oil and balsamic vinegar while contemplating our dinner selection. My wife and I ordered the Fattore Insalate along with the gnocchi topped with cacio e pepe sauce and fresh vegetables. The salad was fresh and crisp, the gnocchi was soft, pillowy, and piping hot. All the food was delivered in a timely manner without any mistakes to all 13 orders.After dinner we enjoyed dessert and paid the tab. We were never rushed and will definitely be back again to try the pizza.

Weve tried all the Buona Forchetta restaurants out here. Their gluten free pizza is unbelievable. The crust actually rises and its wood-fired with an amazing taste. It reminded us of our trip to Italy. This particular Buona Forchetta had the best taste of them all for pasta and pizza (GF) IMHO. We will definitely make the hour drive to return.

Their bread on the pizza and calzones are fantastic and their use of oils in moderation make everything taste amazing.It also feels like most of the employees speak Italian or have accents, so maybe I’d guess it’s somewhat authentic Italian pizza.But if you ask them if their fried pizza or breakfast pizza is an Italian thing, they’ll get angry at you and say no of course it’s an American thing.Who knew

We were seated in a quaint side patio, the service was quick and friendly. We were given delicious bread and then shared the Fatore salad and the ravioli special. Everything was fresh and delicious. Hands down best Italian food in the city! And affordable with perfect, friendly service! Thank you Meghan and Alfonso for the attentive and friendly service during a packed night. No wonder there are so many people. We started with the meatballs which were delicious. We had a few servings of their homemade bread from the pizza oven, too, and the oil and I believe pine nuts with the bread is amazing with the meatballs. Then the pasta is delectable and their pizza is as authentic as you can get. To top it off, the cannolis did the trick. Thanks again for the great dinner!

Ive dined at the South Park location and had the pizza at The Liberty Station location. Unfortunately, the Leucadia location was a disappointment to me.We had reservations at another restaurant down the road and we ended up canceling it because I wanted a good pizza. Boo! My big mistake.We arrived and the wait time was about 20-25 minutes for a table for 2. Perfect! I thought to myself I know the other locations is always a long wait.We were first seated out on the patio. The fans were hitting straight on me and I knew Id get annoyed so I asked a server if they could aim it elsewhere.He said no he cant turn it so I said no worries. As I sat there I eventually came to my senses and decided to ask for another table.The front staff said it would be a wait and I was perfectly fine with waiting again. We were actually sat within 5 minutes. Our table for two was right behind the high top chairs by the glass window to the kitchen and the pathway for servers delivering the food from the kitchen. Errr... the walkway was tight so servers walking by would bump into my chair.Our server was very nice but we barely saw her. While she was cleaning our table i grabbed my wine and held it. She almost knocked it down. Whew...Food:* Pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms* Pasta (forgot what I ordered)It was okay but it lacked salt. See photo.• Complimentary Bread -meh... not worth the carbs and I asked for butter.The pizza was so bad. I ate a slice and Tupac ate a slice. We didnt event take the left overs home. First time in Encinitas and while I escaped a business conference for a peak at the ocean, decided a pizza would hit the spot. As a New Yorker, I am very opinionated about pizza and Buona Forchetta did not disappoint. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and I was immediately greeted by a friendly waiter eager to share information on the menu, which simply has too many amazing looking pies for one person to order. I am always a pizza bianca person and couldnt resist egg, truffle oil and Italian ham. Pizza was out in a few minutes, hot, perfectly cooked and the ingredients all complemented each other. Hey New Yorkers, you should eat pizza in San Diego at Buona Forchetta!

Buona Forchetta has several locations, but maintains top quality at each of them. My cousin from Italy insists its the best in SD and I couldnt disagree. My gf and I have been on countless dates here and the daily specials never disappoint and always leave you wanting more. Fresh made risotto, pastas, pizzas are all top notch and you really cant go wrong. Remember to save room for tiramisu dessert.

The place is overall dirty. It smells like pee/sewage. Cleaning standards and hygiene should be top priority for any food handling establishment. Pizza is below average and soggy, ingredients are cheap. I ordered a Sofia pizza. The prosciutto was of low quality and the pizza was overall burned on the bottom.

Had a nice dinner to start the night. Between the two of us, we ordered a salad, pasta and pizza to try each thing and also shared a bottle of wine.We got the octopus carpaccio salad. Thinly slice tentacles that was marinated in lemon juice over a bed of arugula and a few half slices grape tomatoes and olives.The puttanesca pizza was topped with mozzarella, anchovies, capers and olives. It was salty but beautifully tasty.For the pasta, I wanted the bucatini pasta with the Amatriciana sauce. The noodle is like a straw, and the tomato sauce was a bit smoky from the bacon. Very good!We got there early because it is first come first serve. The staff work like a team. Quick friendly service. We got bread with lentils in EVOO and a bottle of water for our table. The staff all wore their uniform t-shirts all with a variety of cheeky slogans of “fork”. The seating is tight, but comfortable. They have a unisex restroom with fun wall art. I’ll definitely be back if I’m in town again.

Buona Forchetta is excellent just like its South Park cousin. The service is solid, the food delicious and the wait is well worth it. Came here on a Thursday night and the wait was 15 minutes but people were all excited to be eating here and with good reason. My party and I decided on pizza in a jar and the 2 foot pizza with 3 flavors. The pizza in the jar was interesting and well made. The two foot pizza which easily feeds 3 people was excellent. It was warm and delicious as it was served on a large wood board in the middle of our table.

I don’t know why this restaurant has good reviews because there is nothing good about this restaurant except for a few of the servers. The pizza is soggy, sloppy, and burnt on the edges more often than not. The hostesses are either poorly trained, incompetent, or both because they will give you challenges every time regardless of whether the restaurant is busy or not and whether you have a reservation or not. On top of all of that, the manager / owner could care less when there’s an issue. Not to mention, the atmosphere is slightly better than a dumpy pizza joint. I would recommend not wasting your time or money at this restaurant.

You go for the food. They have that hands down and a great wine list. Wait staff is efficient but cool...meaning not that friendly. Tables are small and close together. This time of year if you go early like when they open at 5 the restaurant is quite cold inside. Doors open, no heat and unfortunately that hot meal goes cold really quickly. Some of the most authentic Italian food that I have ever had in California. The meal was amazing, and the employees combined with the lively music create a friendly atmosphere that you do not experience every day. Indoor and outdoor seating options available. Dog friendly This is my go-to casual restaurant for my lazy Sunday evenings. Your taste buds will melt at the sight of any of the dishes prepared here. My favorite dish was the chocolate mousse by far. You want to arrive at around 4pm for dinner to avoid waiting longer for your food, because the restaurant gets busier around an hour later. This cozy restaurant really surprised me with their flawless customer service, beautiful food, and quality building. I will definitely be coming back here.

This restaurant is one of the worst experiences of my life. The hostess and the managers don’t care about their costumers. There’s always a challenge with the hostess that has ruined my nights. She has attitude and it’s so rude, also ignores you or lets you wait for a good 30 min even though they have tables available.When I spoke to the manager and tried to explain her the situation she did not even apologize.Please stay away of this horrible experience. Here is my honest opinion...My husband and I used to dine in the first outpost in South Park for years. We raved about the quality of the food and service to my friends. Unfortunately, for the past two years, it has not been the same. The original staff have slowly disappeared and so has the quality of the food. We discovered the Garage located in Coronado has better food! Craving for the old Buona Forchetta, we decided to drive up to Encinitas and found parking right in front of the restaurant! Jackpot! This place is as close to authentic Italian that I have had around here. We started out with the artichokes as an appetizer and they were to die for. Cooked better than we have ever had before and so smooth. Our main dishes, we enjoyed the buona forchetta pasta with their homemade egg parpardelle style pasta and the Guilia pizza. Both were amazing and would definitely order again, although there was so much… we may want to try something new next time! We enjoyed wine, the house red and red blend that they offer were both delicious. We tried dessert of course. We had the tiramisu and the cannolis. Definitely had to take some home for leftovers it was authentic Italian tiramisu. To die for!! We will be back. We sat out side as well and with a heater it wasn’t too bad. The service was good as well.

The food was very good! The calamari is delicious. We also had carbonara pasta and another pasta with tomato sauce and sausage/ground beef. Both were very good! We had two pizzas which were both excellent. The tiramisu was great. And they brought us warm bread with olive oil and vinegar which was great! Last, but definitely not least, they had a great wine selection, and we had 2 bottles of delicious red wine from Italy from one of my best friends wineries!!The hostess and servers inside were wonderful. The girl serving the wine that coordinate takeout/curbside pick up was a bit quiet, seemed tired, was not very friendly, and did not appear very enthused about working.The wait time on Friday night at around 7pm was 45 min.There was both indoor and outdoor seating with heat lamps outside.Overall, very impressed and content with the food, wine, service, and experienced!

After patiently waiting 45 minutes to be seated, we were put in some stank backyard to be completely ignored. Not only did the setting of the table suck, but the chair was immensely uncomfortable. Literally, a small bird would find this chair appropriate to perch. After making all these observations, we came to the conclusion to leave after not receiving service. I was really excited About going to this restaurant had wanted to go for quite a few weeks. I went with two good friends and brought them each a bottle of wine and a gift for Christmas we sat down on the patio it was very pretty. We were looking over the menu and I looked up to see the waiter opening one of the bottles of wine that was The present that I gave one of my friends. The waiter never even asked us if this was a wine that we wanted to drink at our table.My friend was OK with it so we let that go. We ordered our food. I got the lobster risotto which was gummy and overly salted. My friend got one of the pizzas which she thought was OK not great. We ordered a salad to share which was overly dressed.I will not be going back nor will I be telling any of my friends to go to this restaurant it is way overrated and I was shocked at how mediocre it really ended up being since I had heard a lot about it.

I was very impressed with the pizza. When we came back the following week at approx 6 or 7pm to order some pizzas to go, the place was packed and we were told pizzas wouldnt be ready until 8 30pm. It seems this is a very busy place and after eating there once we can see why. Food it great and pizzas came out lightning fast. The host, server and bussers were all very friendly. Well definitely be coming back, just maybe a little earlier.

My husband and I went here for our 1 year anniversary and were we in for a treat! We opted to sit at the bar because the wait was over an hour (make sure you plan for that). The service was exceptional. Our waitress was so spirited, helpful, and fun. I’m drooling just thinking about the food. We ordered the Caprese Chef Special, the pesto pasta, and the Ribeye. I highly recommend all of these! The wine selection is diverse and very affordable. You cannot beat the prices for the quality of the food you are getting. Oh how I’ve missed your little side patio in this time of Covid! Finally drove out from my hotel to enjoy a pizza- the Nikola. We are staying nearby so walked to this place after spending 7 hours on the road getting to the area. They were busy so we placed a takeout order instead. We ordered one pizza and were told 20 mins. They were a hot mess. Not sure what happened with the pizza because they never told us and they told the wrong person it was on the way. Then proceeded to give it to the wrong person when it was done. Thankfully, because we were hungry, one of the lady workers took it from the customer it was given to and handed it to us instead. No sorry, no nothing. A lot of chaos. We might be able to forgive it if the pizza was awesome but it was runny and just not very good. The crust had potential too but I think we caught them on a bad night.

We love the restaurant in South Park, so we were really happy that they came to Encinitas. We got lucky and got seats at the bar (which really just overlooks part of the kitchen), so we didnt have to wait. Next time, well ask to sit outside, as we love the outdoor seating in South Park. The quality, flavor, and proportions of the ingredients is outstanding, as is the care with which theyre prepared and served.The menu doesnt actually say what the Marcello is, but to try describing it, its a somewhat deconstructed pizza, served with mostly cool ingredients that arent baked with the bread, including mozzarella, prosciutto crudo, arugula, basil, tomatoes, shaved parmesan, and a drizzle of balsamic. Its a unique experience in itself, and should be on the must try once in your life list for anyone who finds that description intriguing.

We really enjoyed a lunch here, so decided to return for dinner. We went on a Tuesday around 7:30 pm, there were several open tables but we were told we would have to wait until a smaller table opened up, maybe 15 min. But there were at least three open tables that seated four. In this area, we were probably the last people to come in for the night, but no luck. They would rather lose our business for the night than give up an empry table. Im so disappointed because I love to support local businesses and liked the food. Too many other places to go where customers are appreciated.

Come to Buona Forchetta for the food-the space is cramped but if youre familiar with good Italian food then this is the place. I ordered a Calzone and a tuscan salad with pine nuts was delicious. The food here is great, but the workers are extremely mean and service is bad. Took around 20 minutes maybe even longer for someone to take our order. Waiter came maybe 2 times the whole time mainly asked the busser for things (tipped him) and he was glad to bring us anything. Server did not care about a tomato allergy we had and was annoyed if we asked for anything. Got our food and server didn’t come for probably 30 minutes after. Had to ask busser for boxes. The hostess came up to us and basically asked us to leave because we were there too long. We told her we were trying to pay. Nobody came up to our table to give us our check after sitting there for so long then she has the audacity to ask us to leave when nobody is helping us. Left a bad tip for the sever (came to the table two times), but tipped the busser since he did everything for us. We left and were walking down the sidewalk and the server comes running after us and asked if everything was okay and we said no. He proceeded to say “I don’t need your tip.” I’ve never been treated more horribly at a restaurant before or had a server chase us down. I’ve never tipped a server as low as I did, but was very glad to tip the busser as he deserved it for doing everything for us. Still in shock that the workers are allowed to treat customers how they did and chase them down.

Buona is my number one Italian restaurant no matter in which location but yea I had to check here in Encinitas. Cozy with same great menu. We loved. Specially my favorite marguerita Regina and the burrata. Brought my friend and we had an amazing Sunday lunch. Will be back soon.

I am passionate for pizza and the pizza here is as good as you get in Italy. The other dishes I tried were just OK. This is THE place for pizza though if you like Neapolitan style of dough.

Haven’t been to the famed South Park location, but this place was great! They were completely full, but the wait was only 20 minutes. Plus they served some of the best pizza I’ve had in north county at a reasonable price.

Spectacular. Even my very fussy 9yo was blown away and kept counting how many slices of pizza hed eaten and asking if we could come back. My wife had a yellowtail tuna special, I had the carbonara, and the kids each got pizzas. We also had the artichokes (best Ive had outside Rome). Tiramisu and chocolate mousse were both excellent, but for my money the canolli was the star of the show, maybe the best Ive ever had. Its good this place isnt closer to where we live cuz Id be here every week.

We are so fortunate in North County San Diego County to have Buona Forchetta in Encinitas! The lines to get in are usually long, but the wait is worth it. Their pastas are amazing as are their salads and pizzas. Unfortunately, there is no lunch offering as they dont open until 4:30.

They dont take reservations, but they allow people to come and put their name in hours in advance, and then go home, and they call them. So basically at 5pm on a Sunday, there was one couple sitting outside waiting but they had almost a two hour wait. Really unfair for those willing to actually come and put their name and wait for a table. We are locals and tried this place before and had a great time. Though, with these kind of unfair practices we really dont want to give them our business. There is no really good way for us to come and eat at this establishment if theres always a two-hour wait because people abused a system, and the restaurant allows them to.
