What an amazing introduction to Burmese food! So impressed! The Samosa soup was vegetarian and something else - SO GOOD! Other delicious things were the garlic noodles, fried rice, spicy cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and sesame chicken. Highly recommend.

Everything we had was delicious. There’s no parking but find a way to go. We went here (1st time having Burmese) and glad we did. Amazing flavors and wonderful service. We ate outside because the weather was so nice and had a great time. We split the tea leaves salad (a must-try). I had the basil chili pork belly (not spicy but delicious). My son had the spicy & crispy chicken (also very good). And my wife had the lemongrass salmon (she loved it).

Had the Burmese Shrimp curry, Eggplant & Tofu curry, Samusa soup and the Green tea leaf salad. Really enjoyed the salad. Very refreshing and unique.Like the fact that they had gluten free options too.Given the rating and reviews, I probably had very high expectations. It was also the first time I was eating a Burmese meal (though I love oriental Asian food in general). So unfortunately, my overall experience didnt live up to the expectations.The Ambience and the Food taste experience was average for me personally.Service was super quick and staff were very polite and happy to answer questions on the menu. So the service experience was good. Though I would have loved it better if they were more open to customizing some ingredients like sugar content.Would not go back there again.

Amazing food! Very flavourful and delicious. We ordered Platha and dip, Samusa, Burmese style shrimp curry, vegetable curry deluxe and coconut rice. Everything was very delicious. Service was quite good. Overall a very good experience. Would love to visit again.

Ive been to Burma Superstar a few times now, and their quality of food and service has stayed the same - topnotch. You cant make online reservations, so you have to get there and join their waitlist. We went for dinner on a weekday and had to wait 15-20 minutes to get seated.Our server was nice, friendly, and attentive. He suggested some good items from the menu.The chili lamb was the highlight of our dinner. It was so good that we ended up ordering another regular chili lamb dish. Though I wish there was more lamb than the chili. The lamb was juicy, and the dish was spicy. The oh noh kauser soup was creamy, zesty and delicious. The noodles were very soft as well. Sesame tofu was packed with flavors. It was sweet and tangy as described in the menu and tofu was cooked well. The superstar noodle salad was very flavorful and refreshing. Its a cold salad. Overall, it was a great experience. This place never disappoints.

First time here and we luckily got seated. Cute little restaurant. If you want to go, make sure to give yourself a 30 min wait time. Go hungry! The wait is so worth it. Highly recommend asking the friendly servers what you should order. their honest about portion sizes for the group and what to get and what their best selling items are. Will definitely go back!

We went around 5pm to the Clement Street restaurant. The restaurant gets super busy and theres always a line. Thankfully we reached right when they were opening.The cocktails and starter were amazing! The cauliflower firecracker is an amazing vegetarian entree and their takenon samusa was also very good!

64 bucks? For this?Maybe eating in is different but takeout was regretful.The tea leaf salad is ok, your basically paying for the dressing, the rest is just chopped lettuce and a little veg. There are some crunchy bits and a slice of lemon but really not worth the price. And the garlic chillie shrimp has an odd flavor I really didnt like. The coconut rice was pretty good but ultimately the most Ive spent on a meal with the least reward. Very disappointed when it has so many star ratings.

I was first told about this place in 2019 from a work friend. Who was taken by a local to eat here. This place amazed me then and did again tonight. If you’re in San Francisco you have to try this restaurant. The food is incredible - the tea leaf salad and the yellow bean tofu. I wish I could try everything on the menu. Fiery chicken was out of this world. Made a special stop over on the way home from holiday just for this place! I will be back! Sometime.

A very efficient set up running. Delivers quality food and service in a relaxed environment without the frills. Blankets are on offer but I wouldn’t sit outside, no heaters and relatively exposed. Completely satisfied with the food.

Great, unique food and attentive service staff!We ordered the mint tea salad, catfish chowder, nan gyi noodles and the mint chicken with a side of mint rice. We also got a carafe of lychee iced tea which came with 4 lychees and was not too sweet. We paid ~$100 before tip for all of the above.Every dish was flavorful and delicious. My favorite dish was the mint chicken and rice and my friend’s favorite was the mint tea salad.The salad had a variety of different textures and the fermented tea leaves dressing had a very unique flavor profile. The nan gyi noodles had a light coconut curry sauce (but was not drenched in sauce as you may expect) and I really enjoyed the balance of flavors and the texture of the noodles. The catfish chowder had a fried bed of lentils on top of vermicelli noodles that was very crunchy and delicious. Lastly the mint chicken is extremely finely chopped and cooked in a dizzying combination of mint, garlic and jalapeños that is simply scrumptious. The mint rice is sticky, topped with caramelized onions and compliments the chicken very nicely (though you have to order it separately).

This place is incredible. We’re vegetarians, and are always looking for a good spot and Burmese Superstar is at the top of our list. The garlic noodles are cooked perfectly and the flavor is outstanding. Coconut rice is very delicious, and almost creamy. We shared a mango lassi and the firecracker cauliflower which tasted fresh, and balanced. Perfect amount of spice. They give you blankets if you sit outside and all the people who work there are kind to us. We will definitely return.

Well the food was good except my wife threw up 4 times in the span of 2 hours after the meal. We were on a plane so maybe it wasn’t the food. Anyway it’s interesting place, very popular, unique dishes, flavors or china mixed with a little Thai. It’s worth a try if you love the flavors go back. Reasonable prices and decent amount of food. Expert servers.

Amazing food! I get why there is a long wait to get in to eat here. A small cute little restaurant with amazing staff. I highly recommend checking it out. They had a number of gluten free options which I really appreciated. There were three of us and we ordered a number of dishes to share. The large portion was huge and we had a good amount of food left to take home with us. I would definitely come back and also order takeout from here often.

Wait time was short. The Host was very polite. The Waiters did a wonderful job. Service was quick and service was very good. Most importantly, the food is exceptionally good. The Tea Leaf salad is a must have fish. I also had middle soup (cant find it on the menu Shawn down here. Also one with lamb and rice and also pies (forgot the names of the last two dishes and dont think they are on the menu shown below.

I lucked out—there was just one couple ahead of me in line, so I was seated outside within just a few minutes of arrival. (7:00 on a Wednesday in May) By the time I left, the line was down the street. And I swear my food came within two minutes if my ordering it! Very speedy service!I was dubious about the rave reviews of the tea leaf salad, but I was craving veggies, so I got the tea leaf salad and the veggie samusa soup.Holy Toledo, Batman! Ok, I see the reason for the raves. The salad has greens, roasted peanuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, and roasted lentils that are tossed in a tea leaf pesto, and it’s delightfully crunchy and savory.And while the soup’s menu description doesn’t do it justice, it was an absolute delight on my palate. A little zingy (maybe 1.5 ⭐️) with all sorts of goodies in it—falafel, lentils, cabbage, lemongrass, and samusas (potato-stuffed fried samosas), it was a fun little party in my mouth!

I will give it a 5star because of the lady who served us was so kind and attended to all our needs. We arrived early so we were the first customer of the day. Ambiance is good and the place is clean. Inside dining can be a lot busier during 12 to 2pm. For the taste of the food, from 1 to 10, I will rate it 7. This is in comparison with other Burma resto weve visited. So overall I will give it a 4star.

4.5/5 - the spicy lamb is a must try!The noodles were alright. The sesame beef and chicken were really flavourful and tasted great when paired with their coconut rice, but their spicy lamb was by far the best item! It was so tender, the onions were amazing, and the spice level was just right. Overall great food but not worth the long line.

If anyone asks you if having the Rainbow Salad and the Tea Leaf Salad at Burma Superstar is too many salads, the answer is no. The salads are very different and both are delicious. Ive eaten at Burma Superstar three times in the last month, the service is excellent, the atmosphere pleasant and the food superb. Blankets are offered to those sitting outside as the outdoor space is covered, but cant be heated with space heaters efficiently. So bring something warm to wear. Enjoy!

Delicious! The pork in the pickled mango curry was melt in your mouth good. We also had samosa and tea leaf salad for appetizers and I highly recommend both. Friendly wait staff and good atmosphere. Would happily eat there again.

We’ve been frequenting this restaurant for close to 20 years and really do love the place. But in the last few years the portions/quality seems to have been diminishing and the prices have just gotten out of hand. $28 for a tea leaf salad? $45 for a pitcher of Burma Cooler? (Both post-tax prizes…) It’s just gotten a little too Yelped for me, and I think the owners have gotten used to taking advantage of the spot’s fame. Sadly I think we’ll try somewhere else in this part of town in the future…

Great place for Burmese food. Very authentic. Highly recommend tea leaf salad or rainbow salad and sambusa soup. They have all the items in regular and large sizes, which is perfect no matter your what your party size is.For entree we tried the Nan gyi dok - noodles with a choice of meat.Vegetable delux was a few veggies like cauliflower, egg plant, potato, pepper etc with gravy.This place always has long wait times. So plan your trip accordingly.

Amazing overall experience. Greeted and served with a smile. Food was served promptly. Hostess was paying attention to our order and constantly checked and polled our table to understand if we needed anything. Great food and vibe at this restaurant. One thing I didnt like was the wait but it was a Sunday evening, so 30 min wait was fine. I particularly loved the coconut rice and the mango chicken. The rice pudding was not really sweet so I didnt like it much. Overall great tasty food for great price.

Totally loved this place!Food is amazing and the staff are friendly and respectful!Usually, this place has a huge wait time during the weekends. We went on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, around 2p. Though it was almost closing time, there were people waiting for table. Since we were just a party of a three and agreed to sit indoors we just had to wait for 20-25 mins.As soon as we went in they thanked us for waiting in the line and seated us at our table.We asked the server to recommend popular dishes and she recommended Chili Lamb and Vegetarian Samusa soup. Additionally, we ordered Fiery Cauliflower, Chicken with Fresh Basil and Nan Pia Dok (noodles). All the items were flavorful and delicious.My favorites are Fiery Cauliflower, Samusa Soup and Chili Lamb.Chili Lamb is spicy, so decide wisely!I heard their Tea Leaf Salad is good too, will have to try next time.Definitely recommend this place!!

Went there a couple weeks ago and ordered a couple noodle dishes. The servers were really nice and gave us blankets to keep us warm outside. I really wanted to like the food but both noodle dishes were pretty bland. Our appetizer was well seasoned though, so its possible it was just a rare occurrence, but it left me disappointed :/

This review has been a long time coming. This is, to date, my favorite restaurant in the world. The first time I ate here was back in 2008/9 when a friend took me to try it out. I ordered the tea leaf salad among other things, it was absolutely beautiful on the plate, and oh so aromatic. I eagerly but carefully took my first bite. Tears came to my eyes, seriously no joke. It was the first time in my adult life I had experienced an entirely new flavor. It didnt taste like ANYTHING I had had. I couldnt compare it to a single flavor, it was so beautiful and complex, and yet so simple and warming I couldnt help but tear up.Ive told this story a hundred times but never written anything down. Years later this is still my favorite restaurant. Every time I have come here to dine, all the amazing flavors from the beautiful 22 ingredient salad, the healing coconut rice, to the lychee cocktail that captured the hearts of my partner and I...Burma Superstar you never disappoint. I cant wait to come visit again soon ❤️

While I was staying in SF, I visited this place twice. They are really busy both times, but the staff were still nice and answer all of the questions about the food, most of which I had never tried before.- Tea Leaf Salad- Moh Hinga (Catfish Chowder noodle soup)- Basil Chili Pork Belly- Coconut Rice- Black Rice Hot Pudding- Ginger Salad- Burmese Style Curry (Lamb)- Tea Leaf Rice- Shan NoodlesAll of these are great, but HIGHLY recommend Moh Hinga, Coconut Rice, Ginger Salad, and Shan Noodles.Moh Hinga had nice firm noodles, and the crunchy split pea crackers were really good with soup. Coconut rice had an excellent texture and great aroma. Shan Noodles are an eastern style noodle, and are surprisingly similar to thin Linguine with tomato sauce with gentle lemongrass flavor and Chinese black beans.I hope they open the location in NYC soon! Please!

Hit Burma this past weekend and it did not disappoint! Always appreciate a super solid local spot with great vegan & non vegan options for a date. We started off with the firecracker cauliflower which was great, and I got the lamb curry and she got dried fried string beans, fried yellow bean tofu and we shared the coconut rice. Everything was 10/10 and would highly recommend coming here!

Came here for their famed Tea Leaf salad 🥗 but turns out, it wasnt much to brag about. Seems like its been tweaked it to suit a foreign palette e.g. like an oily vinegrette.The dinning atmosphere was nice, the type youd get from a busy restaurant, and the servers were attentive.Food was about average. Their coconut milk flavored rice was good but it didnt pair well with the Spicy Lamb we got. The meat texture tasted like it was tenderized and didnt get enough char. The dish didnt come together as a whole since it tasted like the meat wasnt cooked with the garnish.Dining here is about what youd expect in SF.Was it worth trying their Tea Leaf salad? No, but please convince me otherwise.

I have a friend they loves this place and for long time I wanted to come here. I was expecting more and I really prefer mandalay. They have tables outside. Service is good. Not a lot of variety. The star of the night was the mango salad. They do not have a fried rice and that was a surprise for me. They have heaters and are pet friendly

On any Sunday afternoon you’ll find the streets lined with produce vendors, the corners occupied by protesters or street performers, and a long, intimidating line outside Burma Superstar.The Tea Leaf salad is a must. It’s nutty, savory, refreshing, and infinitely better than that week-old Cesar salad sitting in your fridge. Throw that salad away. Never buy it again. Get the Tea Leaf salad every time.The Pork Belly stir fry is also amazing. Super flavorful, fatty, and with just enough spice to make you reach for some iced tea. Oh yea, get the Ginger Lemonade or Thai Ice Tea here, served in a carafe to get your money’s worth.Order some more entrees like the Chili Lamb, and scarf it all down with some fluffy coconut rice. I cant speak for service or atmosphere but Id bet it is great. I was so disappointed in the sesame chicken. It was horrible. An embarrassment. So completely overcooked, covered in the sauce you cant tell. Could not eat it. Chewed for 5 mins and had a mouth full of stringy yuck that looked nothing like chicken. Awful doesnt describe how bad it was. We threw it out. The coconut rice was like it always is... very tasty.

Hands down one of my favorite things about SFO! I visited here after some friends recommended it and I am so glad that I took the time to wait for a table! I enjoyed the photos of old Rangoon on the walls!I loved the food and flavors - I liked the very distinct Tea salad! And loved the Samusa soup - I could not stop slurping on the soup!! We also ordered the firecracker cauliflower with a side of coconut rice! I enjoyed every dish! Ive been wanting to try this place for sooo long and it did not disappoint! came in on a Monday night right at 5 and it wasnt busy at all so didnt have to wait for a table which was a plus, but it got more packed around 5:30 which is something to keep in mind if you dont want to wait for a table.We got mango lassi & ginger lemonade for drinks and they were so fresh! Platha and dip and mango salad for appetizer, both were really good although the salad was a little tart. We also got garlic noodles, which were so flavorful. Overall the food was amazing and the staff were so nice! Highly recommend!

Usually there is a long wait time. I was there for the openning and I didnt have to wait this time. Foods are a bit pricy but very delicious. Make sure to check your bill. They added a Rose wine which I didnt order and it was fixed after I requested.

A nice restaurant with tasty dishes, the waitress recommended the tea leaf salad, the flavor is special with a little bit bit from the tea leaf and sour from the vinegar, many nuts to be aware of. Personally I recommend the garlic shrimp and curry chicken they are super good. Over all A little bit pricy but the service and food is compatible to the value. Genuinely the best beef and broccoli and Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had, as well as some really fantastic cauliflower, and done downright decent noodles.Everyone raves about the tea leaf salad, but mine was bitter and not all that interesting. Maybe that’s just a preference thing.The noodles were a bit bland, and didn’t have any distinct flavor but they were cooked well and it didn’t taste bad.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything is delicious. Even the rice is to doesnt for. The Burma house beer is really good as well. Order a bunch of stuff and share it family style. You will not be disappointed. The chicken and pumpkin curry are especially good. Go early, because there will be a wait. Larger groups are pretty hard to do here so if you have a group go especially early. Single tables are best, this would be a good date spot.

My wife and I have been to every burma superstar several times. Burma Superstar has been one of my wifes all time favorites for almost a decade. Went for lunch Oct 12. It was a special day and wanted special food to celebrate. Got the spicy chicken stir fry and egg okra curry plus some rice and drinks. I want to point out the service was AMAZING such friendly helpful people super nice, speedy and attentive. However the food was average at best. Even the tea leaf salad was really underwhelming. Thats like THE thing you get as an appetizer. The food was ok, probably average for any other Burmese place, but its not as good as we expect. We drove across town, parked, then walked past probably six other asian restaurants to go here specifically.

If you’re a vegetarian, this is one of the must-try places in the city. The food, drinks, and desserts are all delicious! You have to try the tea leaf salad and the samusa soup! I lived in the area for 2 years and I always saw a line for this Burmese restaurant. Their Mo Hin Ga was pretty good, but not good enough to wait over 1 hour. The rest were pretty standard nothing special about it. I am glad I finally tried it, service was good but nothing about the food really stands out here and it’s a bit expensive.

The tea leaf salad was an interesting flavor combination but the dressings were a bit strong for me personally- I went very light on the tea leaf dressing and heavy on lemon and that worked out. I never really knew what Burmese food was before but all I know now is that I love it.Tea Leaf Salad: This salad is a must. Enough said. If you need anymore convincing, many others in the reviews will say the same.Mango Chicken: Just a little heads up if your spice tolerance is similar to mine (little to none): this was reallllly spicy. I thought I was in the clear because the dishs description didnt have not available mild next to it like some others on the menu, but BOY was I wrong. Dont get me wrong, it was still delicious; I just had to take a sip of water after every bite. Thankfully, the service was really good and my water was continuously filled.Braised Pork Belly with Pickled Mustard Greens: I typically dont like anything pickled but this dish changed my mind (at least for now). The thin slices of pork belly were tender and I really enjoyed the sauce it was paired with.

I love Burma Superstar. I have been to quite a few locations, first time at the Oakland spot and the food was just as expected. We were seated pretty quickly, food came out fast and was very flavorful. As always, the tea leaf salad was top notch, the mango chicken juicy and delicious, and the dry-fried green beans tasty with a light spice. Highly recommend. Nevertheless. the curry tasted fine but nothing special. That being verbalized, most of the pabulum peregrinated quite well and made for a very tasty lunch in the FiDi aliment desert. The multi-layered fried bread was nice though, albeit a tad cold and not as crispy, likely due to having to peregrinate for distribution. It was alright, but probably a better in-restaurant snack.Tea Leaf Salad (Laphet): Their signature dish. Doesnt look as appealing compared to being accommodated at a restaurant with everything disunited into piles that are commixed table side. But after some manual effort of pouring on the funky fermented tea leaves and commixing everything yourself, it was fine. Im not an immensely colossal salad fan generally, but all the crispy bits paired with the umami fermented teas is just magical. Peregrinated quite well for distribution.Garlic Noodles w/ Chicken: Not quite like Vietnamese garlic noodles. I had never tried Burmese cuisine before so I didnt know what to expect from this place. And I was blown away by the food of this place. Its a mix of Indian/Chinese/Thai of sorts, we had the Tea Leaf Salad, which is a salad made with fermented green tea leaves, and although it sounds a bit weird it was amazing, highly recommended. Next we had the lamb curry and the walnut shrimp. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the shrimp, although a little bit sweet, they were perfection in a plate.

The space inside is already packed to the brim so movement is limited.Ordered the tea leaf salad, moh hinga, and beef curry.The beef curry could have been a bit spicier. Probably should have gotten medium instead of mild.The moh hinga reminded me of bun rieu. The noodles seemed to be the same type of noodles.The salad was alright. Just seemed like youre eating a salad with fish sauce. Nothing special. I wouldnt order it again.

Delicious food and wonderful experience. My mom and I sat at the bar and the staff was so nice and attentive! We had the famous tea leaf salad which lived up to its promise. I had it once to go, but didn’t like it as much, so I’d definitely recommend getting it when you can enjoy it here. We also had the chicken curry noodle soup and the lemongrass salmon - both delicious! My mom doesn’t even like spicy food or Asian flavors, but she loved it! Which is truly a miracle because she’s really picky and these are different flavors than your classic American or European food. Highly recommend coming here when you’re in the area.

I can’t believe I paid a premium price for the quality of the food I picked up. I got the Nan Gyi Dok. The noodles were super soggy and overcooked. The noodles tasted very underwhelming even after thoroughly mixing everything together. They were so bland and flavorless. Amazing. Staff is excellent, great recommendations, rotating menu items keep things exciting. Spice had my nose running but it was delicious. Absolutely stellar.Dined alone, got a table right away. Not absurdly expensive at all. My biggest regret is that I didnt have the stomach space to eat literally everything.Unpretentious, excellent food - make sure you try the Burma dishes and not just the thai curries! I was sick and in need of some good food that would give me energy but not too filling. I was pleasantly greeted by the red door to Burma Superstar and the ginger salad just spoke to me. It was so flavorful and enriching, I could barely contain my taste buds. The waiter was very friendly and kind. The table already had water on it, which was awesome because I was dying of thirst. I would most certainly recommend this place to anyone that loves thai food.

My friends and I went for brunch on New Years Day and were lucky enough to be seated immediately (party of 4). Lunchtime may be the solution if you are looking to bypass some of the crowds. We ordered entirely too much food and had ZERO REGRETS as everything was delicious: The Food Network famous tea leaf salad dish, vegetarian soup, platha and dip, basil chicken, Burmese curry, superstar shrimp, vegetarian noodles, and coconut rice. Edit: Adding photo 8 months after my last review. Theres no romaine on this salad anymore. Maybe they changed the recipe? Its mostly this shredded lettuce or cabbage, not sure. I used to always to to the Oakland and alemeda locations and would order take out from both. Salad was always fresh, green, crunchy, romaine lettuce.Ive ordered twice from this location now and both times the order came in a small plastic pre packed box with wilted lettuce, not romaine, but a variety mix of something that just doesnt taste quite right with the seasoning and fixings that come with it. Im super disappointed bc I used to order this on a weekly basis. But this salad for $14 reminds me more of a take out thing youd pick up at 7-11.I dont know if its just this location but as a huge Burma Superstar fan Im super disappointed that the quality is way lower here in comparison to Oakland and Alameda.

There is nothing more upsetting than being disappointed from a super hyped rating from a restaurant. Yes, just like anyone else, we had to put our names down and wait for about an hour or less to get a table for 6 which we honestly didnt mind at all since we were prepared for the long wait. We in fact enjoyed having a drink and some snacks at Bitter End which is 1 min from Burma. When our table was ready we were able to be at the restaurant in less than 5 minutes - what a winner!We get there and the first thing I noticed was how hot the place was - its a fairly small space and super duper crowded but surprisingly not that loud. Reading all the reviews on yelp, we shared a veg curry which everyone said was nice but i didnt try it, the tea leaf salad which was really fresh and lovely, the garlic chilly prawns which were recommended by the waiter instead of the pumpkin prawns and honestly the prawns were perfectly cooked but there was really an overload of garlic which one could only realise after the meal when all the smells come back to your nose (not so pleasant the aftermath), the chilly beef - im a bit puzzled on this one as I think we ordered lamb but it tasted like beef so not sure which one we got but it was really nice and flavourful and lastly we shared the catfish curry. The catfish was the one I was looking forward to and it ended up being super duper fried and dry, so dry you couldnt scoop out the flesh from the skin :( - what a sad meal that was. Ive had catfish curry before At Champa Garden in Oakland Laotian style and was superb and in another thai restaurant on grand Ave and it didnt disappoint so i was looking forward to the next satisfying experience from Burma, but I was left sad...I didnt analyse the food and how it tasted then and there because honestly between the 6 of us and the great energy at the restaurant we were having such a nice time and despite the fact that there was still a long line outside no waiter pushed us to leave eventhough we were done with our meal, had paid the bill and was just sitting and chatting away - I thought this was nice of the staff. So when I was trying everything I really enjoyed all of it but after I went home my tummy started rumbling and had a bit of loosies so least to say i didnt feel well and didnt sleep well through the night and since got few shivers I got panicky that could have been food poisoning - but luckily I was fine so not sure what happened there but definitely was something from the food and perhaps too much of the garlic.Overall, Im glad I visited this highly rated place but honestly I was let down. I just cant get over that overly fried catfish :( and how hot it was inside the restaurant! Im still gonna give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it out one more time, If i ever have the time to wait that long.

Okay, its been about six years since I ate here last, but something is wrong. Its overpriced, and the food is so-so compared to what is available today and what is a fraction of the wonderful food i remembered eating here. Burma used to be amazing now...? My partner and I were craving a tea leaf salad, and what I got was a tiny flavorless pile of oily Romaine ($17). A plate of garlic eggplant, that was one eggplant cooked in mae ploy sweet chili sauce($17) a side of rice ($4) and a samosa soup that looked like it was thickened with corn starch (brown goop for$17). Food was great but the only knock is that thetea leaf salad was listed as vegan and vegetarian but actually has dried shrimp in it ( didnt notice it until we started eating). The flavor was very noticable and inedible for my vegetarian partner. This is an easy 5-Stars for me; its quite possibly the best Burmese food in the country. There are few things more delicious than their platha bread, samosa soup, and their tea leaf salad. Everything from their spicy fried chicken to the coconut rice is packed with flavor and leaves you longing for more. Disappointed about how they handled allergies. Told us food was ok that wasnt. After they brought one dish that was problematic, we reminded them of allergy issues. They then brought us three more dishes with allergens. One was a cross contamination issue, which is just incredibly hard to prevent in a commercial kitchen, so they get a pass on that one--its not a realistic expectation for that to not happen--but the other two were clearly added ingredients and should not have happened.The food was otherwise fine but not great. The chicken samosas were good.
