We found this random spot because of my brothers birthday. The food here is AMAZING and FULL OF FLAVOR. The spot is really tight and cozy and has two tables outside.This was my first time for the bill to include a mandatory tip. The menue did not disclose that gratuity would be included or maybe I REALLY missed it.It was a party of 3.No where else on Belmont shore have I experienced this, so I did not expect it.

Best Italian food Ive ever had. We ordered the chicken meatballs, gnocchi, ravioli and it was all so amazing. It is a hole in the wall but it is a must if you are looking for Italian food in Long Beach. I was telling the server that it was the best Italian food I ever had and multiple people in the restaurant were shaking their head yes.

Delicious dishes made by, what my palate believes are masters in the kitchen. Freshly baked bread served first w/generous amounts of butter. Ordered gnocchis to begin, even the colorful garnish heightened the taste of the overall dish. This was a table favorite & we knew it at first, pleasantly textured, bite.The soup required absolutely no salt, was lovely on its own. A tasty, colorful medley of vegetables and broth. The cake, hands down, was the winner for me. It’s rare to come by all aspects of delectable/dainty flavor w/balanced sweetness, & while retaining the correct moistness of cake.Will be back again and again.

I’m a tourist who lucked into this place. Let me tell you about my experience. I walk into this little place and was greeted by this little older gentleman with a thick but understandable Italian accent. He was very friendly. At the table by the door we’re four or five men speaking Italian. There was no crazy or over the top romantic decor. Just an amazing authentic Italian atmosphere. The food was excellent. They use great quality olive oil. We’re coming back next time we’re in town!

I lived in Belmont Shore for almost 4 years and this was our first time. This cozy little restaurant had delicious food, and great warm service. We were greeted, and we were able to choose where to sit. We went during dinner time on a Tuesday. They play soft jazz in the background, and its dimmly lit for a cozy feel and seating is nicely spaced out following covid-19 rules. They offer a sizeable wine list, and fresh warm bread to start. We had a salad to start, entrees, and followed by a shared dessert. We will definitely be coming again.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Long Beach, I grew up with this restaurant. I still miss the one on Broadway, but Im so glad the 2nd street location is still there. If you know about this place you know... pretty much unrivaled on the west coast, possibly even the world.

I love this restaurant!! Its like being in Italy. The food is real Italian. It is so delicious, like a piece of heaven. A lifetime ago, it was favorite restaurant. I just moved back to this area and it is just as delicious as it was in my memory. My friend was in the mood for Italian, which is what made me remember this place. She agrees that it was devine. Its very tiny, simple caffe. I like that its unpretentious. You are paying for the exquisite food and nothing else. Ive had Italian food twice this week and the other place was good, but I paid a premium for the location. I plan to take all my out of tiwn guests here.

What Cafe Gazelle lacks in looks, it more than makes up for in their service and food taste. If you have a pallet that enjoys spices, tastes, texture and a food melody thats pleasing to your senses then this is your place. Its not your run of the mill Italian, its more complex with flavors that reach out and have layers of tastes from beginning to end. If your not a person who enjoys flavor layers and just wolfs down food without really tasting it then this Italian gem is not your friend. Service is old school excellence with elegant manners.

Great pasta and friendly neighborhood service. The staff always remembers your order. It’s small and not particularly climate controlled, but it’s just really good. Pre-COVID they had the best lunch specials, but those aren’t back as of now. Still just happy to have our Penne Carbonara back.

I live in Long beach and my brother coming to town from Indiana and he said he want Italian food, i said all the Italian food that i know closed on Monday so i let him pick the place and he said come meet at Cafe Gazelle. Ok, it is a little cramped, BUT they were fast and the food was delicious! Like really, the food here is pretty darn good! The house salad was wonderful, and the Alfredo with chicken was just delightful. The dessert menu was them bringing out the desserts for you to actually see so portions were easy to see. Fantastic time there. First time coming here and I am very impressed. I dont write reviews often, but if a place wows me, Ill take the time to review.

Delicious Italian food in an intimate, cozy setting. Family run and lots of care in the food and service. Was the perfect date night and not too busy on a weekday for dinner. Ordered the micahelangelo, lasagna and tiramisu- comes with a soup or salad each. Loved it and highly recommend!

What a great little 18-seater place! The italian family run restaurant is worth the wait. Meals are priced at roughly $24 which includes soup/salad, bread, and main entree. You know its good when they are only open from 4:30-9:00 and folks stand outside to get in.

Our favorite place for pasta. Amazing food, clean, simple, great ambiance. Hole in the wall but been around for 40+ years! They will make any pasta you want. My custom order is the angel hair pasta with shrimp scampi, and add some bacon bits. We come here to celebrate birthdays. Its delicious.

Small little hole in the wall restaurant run by im assuming the grandfather, father and son. All 3 of them were lovely and had great suggestions on the food and desserts. Very small place with the side street entrance that has the temporary set up curb side seating section which allows for more tables than their normal seating area. This restaurant has been here for about 35 years and all I can say is the locals truly love this place. We were taken there by our friend who leaves nearby and frequently goes there. Great home style Italian dishes with moderate portions no over the rim of the dish here so you wont leave feeling you cant walk to tour car. Its just right.All dishes are made from scratch just like mamamia would do, so dont be in a hurry to eat take your time and enjoy a glass of their wine. You may have to wait a bit on a Saturday night for a table but it is well worth it. The people are very friendly and give you that warm Italian greeting as if they have known you for a long time. Its no wonder the locals keep coming back over and over again. If there is a downside it is the parking in the area. There are few places to park on a weekend. We walked there so it was not an issue for us. Enjoy Cafe Gazelle.

This is the most charming restaurant in Belmont shore hands down. Absolutely delicious food perfect service from the original owner Frank and his brother who is the chef opened for something like 30 years they keep killing it and havent let up since the day they opened. I’ve been coming here since I moved to Long Beach. This is by far the best spot, if I could keep it a secret I would, but I also want this place to do well and stay open haha so I’ll share. The restaurant itself is on the small side, exactly why I love this gem, it’s not obnoxiously packed, with tv screens or loud music, it’s quiet, it is intimate. Best place to have lunch with your mother and dinner with your partner. The owner is a kind gentleman who is eager for you to come in and enjoy a deliciously delightful meal. The restaurant is open for lunch, closes then reopens for dinner. I love the salad that is served prior to the course. I have had several chicken dishes, I have tried the veal as well. Honestly I haven’t had a meal here that didn’t knock my taste buds out to heaven.This restaurant is a gem, it’s a treasure, and it’s a delight.Cheers

Small portions and extremely overpriced. Chicken Parmigiana will run 22+ dollars and you will barely get 6 ounces. The dish is worth 10.00usd at best. Flavor is ok. Cafe Gazelle feels like the type of place that needs to charge high prices to stay afloat while catering only to the taste of a few local old timers that have been coming here for years. Not realizing they are probably losing many 1st time customers. A good example of short term gains vs long term losses.

Ive enjoyed this restaurant for 28 years now. Never have had anything on the menu that wasnt fresh and delicious. Frank takes care of your needs and has remembered what I like to drink and eat whenever I stop in. Ive moved to Arizona 11 years ago and when I go visit family I try and make sure that I can make it at least once when Im in California. The bread and the desserts are amazing as well.

This is an unpretentious little restaurant off the 2nd, but the food is elegant, beautifully prepared and served, with good wine at moderate prices. Maybe 10 tables, so you may need reservations. Restaurant is on side street. Difficult to find. The food is good. Its basic Italian and nothing to complain about but nothing to brag about either. Hot bread and butter they serve is good. Salads, however, are boring lettuce with not much else and need a little creativity. My biggest problem is the size of the place. You have to get up from your table and move your chair in to let other diners in or out. Its ridiculously small. There were 3 of us and there is only one 4-top table. If people are waiting, dont think for a minute you can linger. They will ask you to leave.

Nice outdoor dining, had the Fra diavolo frutti di mare with angel hair pasta, salad and a tiramisu for dessert. Expresso finished the experience, all were superb. Nice wine list as well with a rutherford cab followed by one of the owners suggested wines. Highly recommend for good Italian fare. Belmont Shore.

I wanted to place a togo order tonight and after calling 3 times with no answer I drove down to the restaurant instead. When I arrived It took 10 minutes to be recognized by anyone that worked there. When my order was finally taken I had to leave because i couldnt stand noticing the waiter/busboy touch his hair and face repeatedly without washing his hands while setting the tables. Gross! Ladies and Gentlemen,I first ate at this restaurant in 1999. I have been back several times since, been very pleased and not fell ill. However, early this year I left the restaurant and attempted to walk back to my hotel near Redondo Ave. and PCH. Before I reached 7th St., the urge to relieve my bowels of diarrhea was overwhelming, so I found bushes and defecated. Moving on, I only got as far as just south of Anaheim Ave and went into the bushes again. I notified management the next day by returning the uneaten leftovers and leaving a note on the businesss front door. He compensated me with a free meal, and I experienced no ill effects. The next time I went, unfortunately, I was able to make it back to my hotel room before suffering from diarrhea again. It was the same story tonight, though unlike the other times, I DID NOT FINISH MY BOTTLE OF WINE, EAT DESSERT OR CONSUME THREE CUPS OF BLACK COFFEE. Yet, I barely made it home before running to the toilet. Management keeps the establishment fairly warm, I am uncertain how food is stored or handled, but I am concerned about the frequency in which I became ill. I eat all over the country with all kinds of cuisine. I prefer spicy food, I drink routinely and am fine.My repeated illness here can be no coincidence, and I am certain that management would rather I not return, as was apparent tonight. It appears that despite what I thought was an amicable resolution between me and the owner that let bygones be bygones, he harbored resentment that was unleashed upon me. Specifically, I ordered chocolate mousse and black coffee but expressly directed the owner to serve it AFTER I had consumed the last of my wine. Instead, the mousse was brought out to me IMMEDIATELY after our exchange. I sent it back and motioned for the owner to come speak to me again. He came to me enraged and said, Youre making trouble again and acting crazy. How would you like it if I 86ed you? I finished the glass in my wine, paid the bill, walked out and hurried home to used the toilet...again. I notified the Long Beach Health Department about my recurring sickness from eating here.The food tastes wonderful and the service used to be great, but may I respectfully suggest that food borne illness is no laughing matter, and the fact that it happens repeatedly in one restaurant shouldnt be ignored. If the owner here reacts angrily because a patrons clearly expressed preferences are not followed, then, despite an agreeable history that has become a thing of the past, one is better served taking ones business elsewhere.Thank you.
