My only knock on this place is ordering on the screen. Perhaps replacing a human with a computer helps keeps the prices reasonable which they are but I still like to speak to a person when ordering dinner. Besides my own cantankerous opinions, the food here is very good and a great value. A terrific alternative to fast food when you need something quick and to go but not burgers and fries or candy coated orange chicken. Yes, they fish & chips too!

California fishing grill has good food. One day, I was looking for something healthy but not boring. I stumbled across the fish & grill menu. I went and was not disappointed the food tasted good. Everything was fresh, and the person taking the order was extremely helpful.I went back a second time and ordered a different combo. It was also very good. I am looking forward to going back. I plan on trying the whole menu one combo at a time we.

Local seafood chain that serves a wide selection of fishes made the way you like it. Its nothing fancy, but It is very decent for a fast food setup. The fishes and shrimps are actually pretty fresh and delicious! And it is very affordable as a seafood restaurant in SF Bay area.

Low cost for big portions. Well seasoned and fresh tasting. Exclusive soda fountain flavors. I ordered the Salmon / Swai combination dish with Chimichurri Parmesan French Fries / Diced Zucchini. Also having Coconut shrimp on the side with a drink. Drinks are sold separately from the dishes. My order came to 23$.

Best fast casual fish and seafood chain! My go-to favorite entree is the Swai with Cajun sauce with a side skewer of grilled shrimp. I never had Swai before trying it at this restaurant and its a white buttery fish which is delicious and flakes in your mouth, way better than their branzino or salmon.The entrees come with 2 free sides - the kale slaw and rosemary zucchini are great if youre trying to stay low carb. If rice and beans are more your style, they have those as well! You could also go for the fries but they tend to come out soggy since they put the protein on top of the plate. If youre willing to pay a few bucks more, the best upgrade is the fire roasted street corn... Id pass on the asparagus (they only give you 3 spears) and soggy sweet potato fries.They also offer plant based vegetarian/ vegan entree options! The Swai entree is so good that Ive never tried the tacos or bowls, but my husband also likes their fish and chips!

I agree with the bad reviews the food isnt that good...I got the tacos...no flavor FISH WAS COLD, and only one tortilla that ofcourse falls apart when attempting to eat. Good thing is they fixed the problem after I told them the foods cold. Oh yea and theres a flavor bar here...which is Empty.

There are vegan items on the menu!! I am amazed! Also, it was really good. The green goddess and dynamite sauce use vegan mayo. You can request to look at the ingredients/allergy menu at the register. Make sure your food doesn’t have butter on it. Also, I asked the person at the register, and they told me they deep fry the vegan fish in a different fryer, yup, that’s what they said! We had the grilled “shrimp” with rice, asparagus, and zucchini. I hope the vegan menu lasts, because I’ll be back to try the rest.

Great salad dressing and fresh salad with shrimp - it was the keto bowl. My only complaint was the noise level, it was hard to hear the friends we were with. All ordering is done on cell phone or touch screen so theres not a lot of service, but someone did help us when we had a problem finishing the order.

The food is a solid 5 stars, however, the location and terrible parking is 2 stars. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, plus everything was clean. Pricing is reasonable for the quality of the food. When I dined they had the music cranked up so loud that my AirPods had trouble blocking it out.

We were there to Celebrate my Mothers 87th birthday. Many of us ordered the breaded catfish dinner. We also ordered several orders of coconut shrimp, Brussel sprouts. And I had the combo plate of fish and calamari. The sweet potatoes fries on two of our orders were cold. But other than that. The service was great, the food was well seasoned and the atmosphere was exciting. I cant wait to visit the one in Las Vegas.

Parking: Terrible during busy dining hours, be prepared to circle the lot several time.Service: Very little by design. You place your order at the counter and pick it up when your device calls you. Someone will bus your table when youre done... So tip accordingly.The food also comes out not as quickly as you might expect. Lots of phone orders might come before yours.Seating can be quite a hassle so have someone claim a table as soon as you come in if possible.All these drawbacks stem from the popularity of the place which is due to the food. For a decent price you get pretty good seafood. The grilled entrees are done well. Lots of flavor, not dry, and nicely plated.The quality of the sides are variable. The brussel sprouts are tasty with a strong flavor. On the other hand the fries are limp and uninspiring. Even the bountiful flavor bar wont save it.Good food worth more visits... But maybe not during peak dining hours.

This was a unique experience for me! You place your order via a Kiosk and then wait for your order to be called up. Kiosk has all of the menu options, including sides, drinks, etc. Staff was friendly and quickly cleared away tables. I ordered the fish & chips. Lots of fish, lots of chips.

This place is actually not too bad for what it is. You can think of this as the fast food for fishes - its an order then take to go or dine in type place. First, you line up to make your order. Next, you find an open table (unless its to go) to sit and wait for your order to be ready as they give you one of those little buzzer thingy to notify you when your order is ready. Then when your order is ready, grab it from the counter near the register area towards the right. Pretty simplistic process, very similar to your typical fast food joint. They are casual, not upscale so if you are hoping for quality dishes and or a more formal experience, you probably want to go elsewhere. They have a good selection of fishes as well as sides. They do offer other seafoods on the menu, but their main thing are fishes. The proteins are mainly flame grilled and topped with various sauces of choice - I usually go with the garlic butter or chimichurri sauce as I feel the others are just meh! They have mini salsa bar with dipping sauces (tartar sauce, salsa, ketchup...). They do have other items such as soups, slaws and fries. This is a good compliment your dish or just a little extra to share with company. Service is good, they are usually really friendly. I have dined in probably about 4 or 5 times now and they seem to be doing some right as the customers just keep coming back. They seem really busy all the times I have visited. You usually have to wait a few minutes to be able to find seats. Dont be discouraged though, tables seem to turn over quite fast. I will definitely continue to come back. They are reasonably priced, its a healthy option and its a fairly quick dining experience.

There are few seafood places when you want something relatively inexpensive and with a casual dining area. This is also one of the more healthier restaurants having things like fish and kale slaw. The fish is seasoned and cooked well. There is also a mini sauce bar and unique fountain cream sodas to top it off. Had a good experience here.

Used to love this place, very disappointed this time, I ordered fried shrimp tacos and they had so much breading, it was like batter tacos and we had the fish and chips and it was the same way,all you could taste was the oil. Wow what a bang for your buck! Awesome value for a casual seafood dinner, and these guys don’t skimp on the quality or quantity either. We ordered the seared scallops with side of Brussels sprouts and dynamite fries, shrimp tacos, and Parmesan fried string beans. We were thoroughly impressed with how nicely fried the shrimp, dynamite fries, and string beans were, and the perfectly cooked shrimp meat. The scallops and Brussels were delicious too, just a little burnt for my taste. They also offer a variety of sauces and unique Stubborn fountain soda. Thankfully we beat the line that started forming after 6pm. Will definitely come back next time I’m shopping at Serramonte Center!

Im a a little bit weird when it comes to fish. I love sashimi but not cooked fish as much? The only cooked fish I really like is Chilean sea bass and on occasion maybe salmon.Once in a blue moon, Ill convince myself to come to CA fish grill and order some fish! Love their variety and sauces available. I can say I’m an absolute fan of their food! Had the salmon and swai plate with white rice and fries and had the lousiana catfish as well on different occasions...really good flavor and the fries were amazing. Unfortunately, my last visit there around 6pm my food was old! The fries were stale and blended with sweet potatoe fries(which I hate) and the rice was dried out & turning like a clear color and hard . I def understand we all have our days but I was sad that I couldn’t eat the food I purchased.

This was my 1st experience at California Fish Grill. The fish menu is very diverse with many fish options, salads, tacos. Etc. I was there during the lunch hour and the line was very long. It moved very slowly with only one person taking orders. It looks like the restaurant really wants customers to order ahead on line both for eat in and take out orders. I did not see a drive thru. After ordering at the counter it was still another 10minutes to get the food. Total wait was about 25 minutes. I had cajun salmon tacos and enjoyed it very much. I thought the prices are reasonable. They need to serve customers faster especially at prime times. I would go back again but place my order ahead.

Ive seen this place a few times but was always deterred by their high prices, but this place has such high reviews. I saw that the offered a family meal, which included 4 meals, a kids meal, and a salad for about $40. I ordered through the phone, 4 swai meals, 1 grilled chicken kids meal, and salad with balsamic vinegar. I ordered three garlic butter sauces and 1 cajun style, all on the side. I went to pick it up around 7 pm. Its located in Serramonte, but on the side island near sephora. When I got there, there was a separate line for ordering and picking up phone/online orders. Inside is spacious and clean, also with a big patio seating. There was a staff member that just stared at me, but didnt really address me until someone else did. It was a bit weird. My food was ready and I was quickly on my way.I came home and there was honestly so much food for only a little over $40. The kids meal was actually very full. Each meal came with brown/white rice. The fish were decent portions and the rice was cooked well. The amount of shrimp on a skewer is generous too, about 8 pieces per stick. However, they did not include our cajun style sauce, so we were a bit disappointed we were unable to try it. It also seemed they forgot to give us white rice for one meal. The garlic butter sauce was really rich and we thought it would taste much better on potatoes. They did throw in their green goddess sauce which I actually really liked with the salad. Their salad was actually two boxes, and was fresh with onions and tomatoes too.We were impressed with the meal that we actually came again. We ordered essentially the same thing, the family meal, but forgot to mention the sauce on the side. This time we ordered the green goddess and balsamic vinegar for the salad and again tried for 1 balsamic vinegar. Again, they missed one meal with rice.The food here tastes great and I was really impressed. However, I am still disappointed that parts of my order was missing, even if it was just the rice/sauce. I also think many of their other dishes are overpriced and cant bring myself to buy them. However, their family meal is truly worth it and Ill most likely come again. Its difficult checking orders there, so I wish they could get the minor things correct, especially when the receipt on the bag states exactly what I ordered. I also wish their boxes were compostable/recyclable.

Honestly, I was pretty hesitant in trying this place. When I first saw the menu I thought things were pretty pricey so I wait a few months before going in, but Im glad that I did eventually try this place.I got the barramundi with the butter sauce and had the grilled zucchini and sweet potato fries as my side. My parents both got fish and chips. We also ordered the calamari. The concept is pretty simple you line up order at the counter and then get a buzzard to pick up your food.They have a great variety of sauces and you grab your own. I also highly suggest the matcha pineapple juice. My mom had their house soda and said it was pretty good.I dont think anything on the menu is bad. They do cook the food fresh so be prepared to wait at least 5 to 10 minutes!

Serramonte Center has changed vendors over the decades but now has several new options for dining. I tried the California Fish Grill today after some holiday shopping. The cafeteria styled ordering implied fast food but the plates were not simple. I tried their Battered Fish & Chips but upgraded to sweet potato fries. The original meal comes with regular fries and kaleslaw. I was surprised with the kaleskaw; it was a nice crispier vegetarian upgrade from cabbage coleslaw. The sweet potato fries were a little colder than the fish but still delicious. The sweet potato taste was not drowned out by frying, over battering and over salting. The fish was hot and lightly battered with good flavor and tenderness. The only thing disappointing was the liquid from the kaleslaw drowning my fries to sogginess. Better to put that wet side in a dish on top of the plate next to the hot dry parts. Nevertheless, I did enjoy my meal. You can leave your plate on the table and a staff person will clean up. The price is competitive and the proportions are generous. Staff are friendly and professional. All in all, I highly recommend this cafeteria style fish chain restaurant.

Really good seafood in a more casual setting. It is also very reasonably priced. California fish grill, has some great seafood options from the grill. My favorite fish is the sea bass, because i like the texture of it. The sides are also good, I usually get the fries and grilled zucchini. They also have a salsa / sauce bar.The food is made to order so it takes a little bit to cook, but for well done seafood its worth the wait.The casual setting is nice also, there are no servers you order and find a seat.

We tried the classic fish & chips for lunch. They used a swai filet. It came with a side of fries & a kale salad. The fish was very good but the batter was slightly thick in some areas. Both my husband & I ordered the 3 pieces since we didnt know how big they were & they were large pieces. We couldnt finish them & took some home. The batter stayed crispy when we reheated & had it as part of our dinner. It was worth it for $12.50.

On one hand, the food was good and was reasonably priced. The portions were large. The food arrived fairly quickly.On the other hand, there was a long line to order and pay. This is because customers are forced to self-order on a screen. It took us forever to navigate the menu and place our order for the four of us. THEN, because we wanted beer, we waited in a second line to place our drink order. The line qould move more quickly if they would simply have someone place orders for customers.

What a cool and totally yummy establishment! Every single dish coming out of the kitchen had what I call The Wow Factor, when presented to the customer, theyd exclaim, Wow!. The Fish Grill has great food, but you order and go get your food when your buzzer alerts you, so there is almost no service. The atmosphere is also kind of non-existent. There are cold stainless steel chairs and stainless steel counters and no hot coffee. It is clean but has only stainless steel going on.This place has not heard of warm and cozy!But I love the food! You get an entre with two sides for great low prices!!How can service and atmosphere be rated? But I could rate the food! The fuood is excellent if you like seafood!

Was here couple of months ago and was very disappointed with this place. I took picture because of the serviceFirst of all the noise, they have their sound system (wouldnt call it music) blasting! Not worth the $14 for a 4oz piece of undercooked salmon in a sea of greasy cauliflower rice and not enough zucchini. Not a big portion overall. Some of the staff were not wearing gloves as they put covers on the containers, everything is packed in plastic and they didn’t include utensils with the to go order (which I’d appreciate if it had been a choice vs an oversight). Kitchen staff were working hard which I appreciate but not enough to carry the operation. Won’t be going back.

The clam chowder is delicious and full of clams and their daily specials are always a treat. First I will say all the employees I interacted with were kind and helpful. This place could be great if only a few things were tweaked a bit. I ordered the classic fish and chips, and clam chowder. When our orders arrived we were standing around for ten minutes waiting for a party to leave. Our own stupidity but just to warn others to get that table early.Aside from that the food was great with my order of tilapia in a garlic butter sauce, brown rice, and roasted brussel sprouts being one of best fish plates that I can remember. Another member of my party had the fish and chips will a slaw made with kale and french fries and we all had a taste of this generous order and loved it. Finally the third person had perfectly grilled steelhead trout with brown rice and that tangy sweet kale slaw that was delicious he claimed. Check this place out next time you are in Serramonte. Now available is wild sockeye salmon and mahi mahi both absolutely delicious. The Mahi Mahi is wild and delicious perfectly grilled.

If I could rate 0, I would. I have a trust on Fish Grill since Scramento Fish Grill was really good. Fish, fries, everything grilled was literally served COLD. California fish grill food quality and presentation is just ok, not bad and not great. Ordered giant shrimp, rockfish, and calamari plates with Kale-slaw and asparagus. The best part of the meal was the Kale-slaw, not the shrimp or the fish, and the worst was the calamari which was oily and dark. Another negative is the restrooms, they have 1 dedicated restroom for women and 1 all gender restroom, thats not fair for men, I have never seen that in any establishment.

While the Fish and Chip were good...taste and portion, the Rockfish dish was quite small. Fish was very thin and depended on the sauce for flavor. Looking around it seems to be knowing what to order. I requested that the recook the Grill Zucchini because it was not cooked through. They apologized and recooked the Zucchini which again came out a little bit raw/hard. I had to use a knife to cut through it but I guess this may be the one they like to serve it. I will visit again.

The first time we went to a California Fish Grill was in San Diego last month so when we found out that there was one in Northern California in Daly City, we decided to try it out.I ordered the same things and the battered fish taco seemed better in San Diego. The fish serving here was smaller, there were more chopped cabbage than fish which was somewhat disappointing.The place was full when we went on a Saturday morning. Im not sure if I would come here again though, it was also a little more pricey than other places.

I like this place. I would consider coming here again.Good decor for a fish grill theme that allows for a nice casual ambiance. Fairly moderate pricing (I estimate it an average of 10-12 bucks a dish). The fries (chips for you UK and AUS people) are top notch.Swordfish was a little dry, but it was still tasty. Dishes are served with kaleslaw, which is just a salad type dish, but with kale, almonds, and apples. Sea bass was good, but I am not sure where the garlic butter part of it went. Battered fish and chips were alright since there was a bit too much batter.Update for May 2018. Rockfish is good (sea bass is number 1). To-go containers needs to change because the heat trapped inside makes the fries all soft and no one likes soft fries.

You can order ahead online. My personal favorites are the cajun shrimp tacos and the battered shrimp tacos. You can substitute the corn tortillas for flour ones. Make sure to ask for extra everything on your tacos when ordering to get more satisfying tacos. I feel like if you dont ask for extra everything, your tacos are pretty plain. The cajun shrimp tacos consist of plump and spicy shrimp and are served with cajun butter, roasted corn, and dynamite sauce. The battered shrimp tacos consist of succulent shrimp that are lightly breaded, quick-fried, and served with dynamite sauce. They use swai fish for their battered fish tacos and top them off with a cream sauce. I personally find the fish to have too much batter and they usually come out really oily. The breaded shrimp consists of succulent shrimp that are lightly breaded and quick-fried. Im not sure if this comes with a cocktail dipping sauce. Sometimes, a side of sauce will be included in my to go order and sometimes it wont. If you like sauce, definitely be sure to check and ask for some if it wasnt included.

Fresh and delicious! The garlic butter sauce is as good as they say. Get the rockfish grilled with veggies, like grilled zucchini or a tabbouleh salad. The brown rice was not great - some kernels were undercooked and inedible. Hope that gets fixed, otherwise I’d skip it. I would opt for grilled fish over fried, but they have classics like calamari, fish and chips, and more. The space is not big enough given the popularity of the restaurant - make sure you have someone secure a table before ordering! Will definitely be back to try swai, sea bass, salmon, and more.
