I cannot believe that I have never heard of this restaurant. It is honestly the best food I’ve had in Santa Cruz county. Definitely was not expecting such an amazing meal, especially when the restaurant is located in some sort of business building. The appetizers are great and very reasonably priced. The salads are mostly under $20 and are huge. One of my favorite things about the restaurant is the menu. I have not been to a restaurant where I liked almost every single item on the menu. Definitely definitely definitely definitely recommend

Second vist and first time at the bar on a busy Friday night. Such a great group of people working there, staff was polite and responsive, and they knew how to work, which is increasingly rare these days. The two bartenders were especially responsive taking care of regulars, those have drinks while waiting for a table and cranking out beverages for the whole restaurant, just doing the needful at every turn and not forgetting to check in on customers without being asked. Soooo refreshing 😋 to get service like this again. Thank you.

Don’t let the office building location deter you. Fabulous restaurant for a great fresh, organic dinner whether it’s a special occasion or just a nice night out. Fresh bread and butter came along with the menus. Vegetables organic and locally grown. Appetizers included the fresh vegetable plate (lots to share) and the crab cakes (mushy but good). Artichoke chicken is a must have. $3 to share the plate, which means two plates with lots of sides. Salmon is also tasty and topped with fresh salsa/pico de gallo. Sides include au gratin potatoes, sweet potato fries, fries, or polenta. Make a reservation on a busy night.

We went here for lunch and got seated promptly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.We ordered the shrimp cobb salad along with Ahi tun salad and they were both delicious with generous portions. I also love the bread they brought to the table, it went well with the salad.

This place is okay but the blue lives flag near the front desk is disgusting. Dont want to support Black Lives Matter? Okay, a lot of business dont. But to actively put up the racist response to a movement asking for the protection of lives of People of Color, is outrageous. I hope the owner or the manager or whoever put it up is just ignorant of the meaning behind that flag.Its a shame because ever employee Ive dealt with there was very nice.Do better.

Very poor customer service, they are very bad organized. Took forever to take our order, and to top it off no one came to ask us what would we like to drink. The food wasn’t as great either!!! And one of the plates that they brought us extra was dirty. Not happy with the restaurant at all.Not going back, and it was very expensive.

The food is very good but I had to go twice to get a decent table as a single dinner. I also made a reservation for the second time. The first time I didn’t stay. The time with the reservation the seater told me they saved the best tables for more than one person. I spoke with the supervisor before I left and she was defensive. It was a bad experience.

I only got the reuben with sweet potato fries (which came with a side salad made from locally sourced vegetables) and the eggs and bacon appetizer (deviled eggs with some bacon on top), but it was very good and the waitress was super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. A great experience. I cant wait to go back and try some of the other menu items!

Remember this is just a review based on my experience while visiting the place. First of all, do not let the appearance of the place from the out side fool you. Once you come in, the place looks great. First the service, the waiter was attentive and ready to answer any question we had. She kept coming to our table and asking if we need it anything else. The place was clean and accommodating. Where you are going to be happy is the food. I ate the bbq ribs and let m tell you, they were tender and the bbq sauce was delicious. If you are around, I would recommend stopping by, you will be not disappointed. As for me, I will see you around!

We were excited to try the food here for the first time in years. A friend had been nice enough to give us a gift card for the grill. I would not recommend getting takeout if you come here. We ordered the tri-tip and skirt steak entrees. The meat was way over cooked and extremely tough, almost inedible. The fries were also not good. Very disappointed with the experience and I likely won’t be back.

Since we got there the employees were lost on their duties, it took so long to get seated 25 min and not because there was no tables, but because they moved so slow and they seemed unhappy with their job. Drinks and menu took forever, we were planning to leave somewhere else 45min in. Della (5☆ just to her) was the only one showed up to take the order and asked if someone had taken our order for the drinks, but bad experience already there. We are not going back. Thank you Della you are the only one working hard right there.

I had lived in watsonville my whole life so I am very familiar with the California Grill I used to know the owner Ray who is no longer the owner I found out, I stopped by recently to have a drink it was packed I believe it was on a Friday and there was nowhere to sit but they found me a little table under the TV in the corner, I was fine with that because I could absorb the atmosphere from anywhere in the room, seem like people were having a very good time having long and loud and comfortable conversations snacking on appetizers there was this one man at the bar I could not get over how he was enjoying his appetizers I was just thinking to myself if I could afford something right now I would order a whole dinner. The only reason that I gave it four Stars and not five is because the bartender did not know the drink that I asked for, we had a conversation about it and I ended up ordering a different drink that I knew that she would know however I just stopped in Wonder couldnt she have easily just gone on the internet and found out what that drink was and made it for me? That is a good example how the internet can be handy at anytime for anyting, also I wonder if they still have bands because they used to have bands sometimes on the weekends I used to go and sing with them sometimes also, I used to model for them also, I wonder if they still do the clothing auction they used to have someone come in with some really nice outfits womens outfits and model them and you could buy them by auctioni all in all the California Grill is just as beautiful and inviting as ever, for me its just that the way that things are these days they are so tight I am having a hard enough time trying to make sure that I have enough groceries to last me for the month so I cant afford taking myself out to eat anywhere not even to Jack in The box but boy I sure would love to go to California Grill and have me a nice dinner their food is delicious I do remember that also 😎

This is certainly a hidden gem of a restaurant. The food was very delicious and all the vegetables are extremely fresh. It has a lovely ambiance with booths and tables for dining as well as a bar you can sit at. The one thing that threw me off is I felt like I was going to a doctors office upon entering. However, once I got to where the restaurant was I was delighted and surprised with elegance. Will definitely return and recommend eating there if you are in the area.

Manly and I tried this place because the usual breakfast places had lines out the doors. We decided to try a new, possibly less crowded spot. We were in luck with the California Grill.The service was good and the wait staff were friendly. The food was plentyful, fresh, and prepared well. Service of the bar was exemplary. Beware they are not open between 2:30 and 5:00 for the dining room but you can get appetizers at the bar. Everything we ordered was delicious. Amazing flavors and value for money I highly recommend this restaurant. And especially enjoyed the temporary vegetables the garlic bread Pork medallions and both the pajaro and fruit pies.

Our family loves this restaurant! The food is fresh and grown organically and locally. The staff and waiters are all very kind and helpful. Everything on the menu is excellent. I went into the bar section and had lunch today. The bartender, Hillary, did such a great job, it made my day a better one. I got the half sandwich and salad combo which was really good. One thing I dont like is that they serve the small salad on a too little plate.... you cannot avoid spilling some off the sides when you try to eat it. Other than that, thank you!

Found this little gem while camping at Moss Landing. It’s on the second floor of a somewhat nondescript building. You go up the status and then down a tiny set and there it is!We ate in the bar area and had great drinks (Martini and old fashioned) and even better food. Truly farm fresh. The bread is served WARM with butter and fresh garlic. The salad had these unbelievably tasty beets. The house Italian dressing was so good it was practically drinkable. A clever and perfectly executed compote accompanied the medium rare lamb chops. The crispy polenta was perfect. The chicken roulade was really highlighted with the smoked mozzarella. Desserts were equally delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough. Someone in the kitchen absolutely loves to cook and it shows.

I have been a long-time customer of California Grill and avid supporter of locally-owned restaurants. In my experience coming here, theyve had good quality dishes and customer service. However, over the last couple of visits, the quality of food and service has declined. This last visit we experienced the worse customer service from our waiter by far. We waited 45 minutes, and our main entree order had not been taken; when I flagged our waiter down to let him know we were ready, we replied with a rude tone that he would be right there and kept walking away. No apologies for the wait when he approached us for our order; our drinks were never refilled; in fact, we had to go to the bar and pay for more drinks. The food was overcooked and over seasoned. Unfortunately, this experience was totally avoidable if they trained their staff in customer service. I will say the busser that night was very attentive, the wait staff could take a few pointers from him.

Wonderful restaurant, all the food served is organically grown from local farms. I recommend reservations for Friday and Saturday evenings, the weekends can get pretty busy, having said that I have gone on a weekend and have never booked a reservations and have always gotten seated right away, sometimes we have had to wait 10 minutes to be seated but know longer then that, but believe me the food is worth the wait the food is that good! Plus the waiters will serve you extra bread and butter, if your food is slightly delayed. All the employees are respectful and polite, they seem generally happy to work there which is a nice change of pace.The restaurant serves meals in the the bar all day, so if you arrive after 2:30 which is when the restaurant stops serving lunch or before 5:30 which is when the restaurant serves dinner, you can still get something to eat, the food served in the bar is every bit as good as what is served in the main dining room and is less expensive and the portions are good size. I highly recommend this this restaurant.

I took my sister out to lunch got eggs skirt steak and hash browns I was seated next to what I think was the kitchen there was awful banging and tons of food debris underneath our table, my hash browns were under cooked but the steak was amazing, I tipped well I just couldnt understand why we got the worst table when there was plenty of there open tables and the fact all the other tables had cloth napkins and we got paper . Other then that the food was good our waiter was amazing . I hope next time its a little better I did spend about 75 thats including tip. I understand I seemed young and so did my sister but I think we deserved a bit better then the worst table.

You may want to get a reservation. We came on a Friday night around 7pm, and they told us not would be an hour wait for the dining room. The bar, however, was open seating, and we found a table right away! We loved the Minestrone soup, the Clam Chowder, and the Bomb Burger. The lasagna was also good, and HUGE! So my husband and I have been here at least 6 times. We love it here. Not just the food but everything about it. I love that the owner walks around, checks on every table and is so friendly. The staff is always welcoming and even the bus boys walk around with a smile. We have had the same waitress 3 times I believe her name is Kelly, She is great a keeper for sure. Farm to Table is always a fantastic route to go for food quality and flavor, but when the restaurant actually owns the farm that supplies the restaurant you have an even better experience 😊 Service is not fast food style, so beware of going in starving because it may take a bit before you to see your server. The waffle and pancake were perfect in flavor and temp, the side of corn beef and red potatoes for $6 was huge and delicious, and the hash browns were cooked to golden perfection. She was so rude, we were trying to check her name tag but she wasn’t wearing any. We also checked our receipts usually it will tell you the name of your server . Next we were barely sipping on our drinks & starting on our meals and she was already asking if we will split the bill or just one check. Third, we were still in the middle of enjoying the food not even close to finishing and she was already asking if we needed some to-go boxes. I would understand if there were a lot of people that were waiting to be sat down but nope that was not the case. And we were not rude towards her either, we didn’t demand for this and that we were just there to have some good brunch and celebrate! She made us feel uncomfortable that we didn’t even try to finish our food coz she was trying to make us leave the place. She was nice to other customers, maybe because we were minorities like her!? We were treated very rudely and we are not even from Watsonville! It’s not like we were rude customers, loud, distractive or disrespectful! Never again we would dine in this place, food is good but service is very rude! Be nice to others especially it’s holidays! My good friend was going to give her a $20 tip coz we know how to hard it is to make a living we are hard working Nurses ourselves! Amazing restaurant tucked inside a business park. A true gem! All the veggies are picked fresh (nothing over 24 hrs old) and served in generous portions. The food is excellent, the produce the restaurant uses in preparation of their dishes is locally and organically grown. All the employees are very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Sometimes the service can be a little slow in regard to getting your food especially if the restaurant is extremely busy, the wait is worth it the food is that good! I do recommend reservations on weekends, however I have gone on a weekend and have just walked in, and was seated right away. Fair warning Sundays the restaurant closes early about 2:30 I think. The bar offers a limited menu which is great, all day long, if you arrive to late for lunch, the restaurant stops serving lunch about 2:30 or if you arrive to early for dinner which starts at 5:00, I suggest eating in the bar. One last comment the price of the meals offered are pretty reasonable I would say medium priced, and you get a lot of food. California Grill is about the only place I will eat at in Watsonville.

I spend 42 dollars I could easy give her a 15 dollar tip. Cuz I know how it is to be a waiter. I used to be a waiter too. Over all It was not a good welcome in to California grill. Really long wait without a reservation. Food was great however. Staff was friendly and very attentive. Food got out promptly after it was ordered.

An ATF. Gourmet at reasonable cost. When Im in the area, its my #1 favorite. The veggies are usually picked that day for Lakeside Organics - it cant get much better. Some fsvs: tempura veggies, crabcakes (OMG!), calamari steak (best Ive ever had - by far), all the salads, Chicken Roulade, the Bomb Burger and whatever the special is. Honestly, Ive never had anything I didnt love there. Go! And, youre welcome.

The wait was not long to be seated when arriving however the service wad not great. we asked for sugar and 30 minutes later still no sugar. we ended up leaving and not place an order. management did apologize and comped our tea.

Everytime except Valentines has been excellent. I went for lunch for V-Day aka my birthday. We went at lunch. Not to packed but waited 45 min for service.

Went here for the first time and it was a great lunch spot. I had the Calimari with steamed veggies. My friend had a shrimp salad and it was huge. Great service and food.

Probably one of the finest places in Watsonville to dine. The food is fresh and locally grown, the staff is extremely friendly, and you can most always count on getting a table when other places are packed.
