The best food I have ever had at a restaurant.Lamb dumplings were divine, and the rigatoni with pork ragu was amazing.Would seriously consider taking trips to Cali every so often just to experience it again.
Very delicious and creative dishes! And our waiter was very helpful in helping us decide what to eat, and the portion he suggested was perfect.My mom loved the sole and said it was pan-fried perfectly. I myself *loved* the milk jam pudding.My only complaint is that the table was a bit wobbly. And the bathroom could’ve been cleaner.

I have no idea how this place is rated so highly. This place is soooo bad. Made a reservation 3 days in advance, and they call an hour before saying they don’t have room for us inside and will need to sit outside but we get a free burrata. Burrata comes with nothing so need to order $10 bread to eat it with. Then we are seated on the literal sidewalk with people skateboarding past. They had only two vegetarian options and both were so bland and awful. The drinks were insanely small and cost $15-$18 each. Please save yourself the money and go somewhere else. Such a waste of time. And the server knew nothing and could give no information or advice. The bread was so hard and stale it was impossible to eat. The fried rice option tasted like nothing and the pasta was such a let down. I did not like a single thing I ate. Such a waste.
5 stars for the cornbread and crab pasta, 4 stars for the potato crusted bass (was a bit bland, although the salad in there was delicious).
Great food experience overall. Better than 4 stars, not a 5. Service was excellent, cocktails were on point. I normally go for meat/fish but the vegetarian dish (eggplant ) sounded wonderful. Sadly it underwhelmed. The buckwheat spaghetti was done perfectly and sauce was outstanding. Appetizers were perfect. Looking forward to a return visit.
Came here on a weekday night with a big group and a huge menu and an empty belly! We had a room in the back and our waiter was hilarious!Food: I enjoyed the starter dishes of cornbread and also some raw fish since they definitely contrasted each other and were easy to consume. I also enjoyed the steak and the potato dish that we had as our entree. The food was definitely enough to share and we got a TON of it!Service: The food came out relatively quickly once we started the first round of food and just kept coming! The waiters were good at taking the plates and getting us new ones.Ambiance: Definitely a very fancy place to go and too expensive for me usually!This is a nice place in downtown Palo Alto with a cool name and would come again if it was expensed again!
If you’ve ever been camping, you know that one of the best meals you’ll ever eat is after a long day outdoors. Camper is somehow able to capture this essence without leaning on fatigue and hunger, for a remarkable dining experience that felt like camping, but was at the same time refined. We had the restaurant week four course menu, and every course excited. The closest I could come to a complaint was that the portion sizes were too large, but the leftovers made for a great meal the next day as well.
We had brunch at Camper after wanting to try it for a long time. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment and I would not recommend. I ordered the biscuit benedict, and received my eggs hardboiled instead of the traditional poached. The greens that came with it were also overcooked and very salty. The waiter ultimately replaced the eggs after noting how overcooked they were. My partner ordered a burger, which was average. Fries were decent, and the cocktails were good. The house-made cold brew was not good. Service was nice, although slow. I have heard the dinner is good here but unfortunately wont be back after this disappointing meal.
Wonderful place in Menlo Park! Went with a group of 4 here for a late night meal. The whole staff jumped in to help deliver great service, from taking drink orders, and re-setting the table after each “course”. Our serve took the time and explained to us the different options for the charcuterie; we selected 3 meats and 2 cheeses. All of which were device, with adorned accoutrements. Another server took our drink orders, and when I ordered a “jack neat” they came back with another type of Tennessee whiskey to try as a tasting...you don’t get that sort of treatment at many other restaurants in the area. Even though our reservations were very late (8:45pm) the staff never rushed us, even though we were the last table; asking us if we wanted dessert options even after closing. Very welcoming, very friendly, and a nice up-scale place. Will definitely return for more meals!Order the cornbread!
I dont review restaurants often and these days most people just leave reviews when something is bad. In this case I had to give the great folks over at Camper a huge THANK YOU! I had dinner at Camper this week and it was one of the best meals Ive had in a long time. The menu is so diverse, there is something on there for any eater. The burrata, short rib fried rice, cheeseburger and caramelized custard toast were standouts for me. We had many cocktails that were all delicious and a bottle of wine from their extensive wine list that was perfect for the meal. The service was impeccable and the overall meal was one that I cant wait to come back for. Thanks Camper!!

Every dish has something unique to offer. The burrata and corn bread are perfect ways to start the meal. For mains, we went with the Bucatini, rigatoni, chicken, duck, and others.The highlight of the meal was the perfectly cooked duck that was simply amazing. Ive never had better prepared duck!Capping the night off, we had all 3 desserts on the menu, and all 3 were absolutely amazing! The caramel pudding was the highlight for me, and I would go back again just for that!Amazing ambiance, a huge bar, and fantastic food makes this a spot worth going to!
TL, DR: The food here was pretty good, especially for the Peninsula. Had it cost a bit less, and had the service been a bit better, it would have been 4-stars.I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and overall, we had a good time. We ran into a snag when we first arrived - we were a bit early for our reservation and our table was still occupied. Not a problem, we grabbed seats at the bar to get a drink. At the time of our reservation, though, our table was still occupied. Ultimately, we wound up sitting at the bar. Not a huge deal, but not great start to what was meant to be a special meal. I reminded the host about his birthday, and I was hoping that we might get a glass of champagne to celebrate, especially after the table snafu. No such luck.We ordered a bunch of things to share - the oysters, deviled eggs, tuna crudo, burrata, and a steak. The oysters were fine, nothing special. At $4, they seemed about $1 too expensive, but ok. The deviled eggs looked bland when they arrived but they actually tasted better than they looked. Lots of garlic, which I liked. The tuna crudo looked amazing but tasted only ok. The texture of the tuna was a little off for me, as if it was a day old, and it was lacking in any real flavor. The other bits, like the guava and sour limes, had lots of flavor, but I really wanted to revel in the raw tuna and that felt like a missed opportunity here. The burrata was great. If the bread was a bit toasted, this would have been a 5-star dish. So creamy, so rich, balanced with some earthy flavors of artichoke, radicchio, and sunchoke puree. Id definitely order it again. The filet mignon stole the show. Medium rare leaning towards rare, the sauce added richness, the crispy kale gave good texture on the side, and the potatoes were really crunchy outside.At the end of the meal we were handed a dessert menu and told we know its your birthday, but is there anything else you want for dessert? We assumed that meant something was coming and we were beyond stuffed already so we said no. Apparently no dessert was coming, so our waitress gave my boyfriend a little birthday hat stick for his drink. It felt forced and disappointing. We asked for the check, and then Im not sure what happened, but next thing we knew we had a scoop of ice cream with a candle in it. Im not sure if there was a mix up or what, but it all just felt... weird.The meal came to about $275 with drinks, tax, and tip. It was about $75 more than I thought it deserved, maybe a little more when you consider the table / bar situation. All in all though, my boyfriend was happy, which is all that matters. The food was tasty and I wouldnt mind going back, though next time Id just stick to the steak.

I found Camper on the Michelin guide and was happy to find a reservation easily. And so glad I did, because the food was phenomenal. I ordered the agnolotti pasta dish and Im still thinking about it, weeks later, and have already made another reservation to go back with more people so I can try more dishes!Update - visited again and the menu was entirely different! It was great to see a restaurant focus on in-season produce. We tried a different (duck confit) agnolotti dish available this time and it was exquisite as well. Highly recommend it to everyone!

I had some really delicious fried chicken takeout from Camper last night. It was incredibly crunchy and delicious. Even the next day, the chicken maintained its crunchiness. I would have a proper photo but I ate it so fast, I only had one piece left. Chef Greg is kind and the restaurant looks really great. Im looking forward to dining in and trying more things on the menu.

Went here with my family, and wow, it was so good! We tried a bunch of different things and shared them all, and I recommend doing this because everything we tried was so good. We tried two pastas, the chicken, the cornbread, and a salad. My favorite was the salad because it was very fresh. For desert we got a cheesecake which was still warm, and a dolce de lèche custard and it was one of the best deserts that I have ever had. If you are looking for a treat in the Bay Area, I would give this a try.
Extremely disappointing experience. We made a reservation for 4 at 7:30PM, specifically for indoor dining. We arrive at our slotted time, the host asks if we mind dining instead outside, I reply by saying we had made our reservation for indoors and request to wait by the bar. As we’re standing at the bar waiting to order the drinks, the manager (I’m assuming) asks for us to instead take a table outside, since none of the indoor tables are close to checking out, we respond by saying no and saying we’ll wait for our indoor table. Not even 5 minutes later, the manager comes over and asks for the THIRD TIME, if we can please just get a table outside, I finally oblige. Once he seats us at an outdoor table, he makes a scene out of saying he’ll comp our appetizers (he should’ve done it and not made such a big deal about it), and doesn’t bring us menus. After an additional fifteen minutes someone brings us menus and immediately asks what we’ll be eating. We ended up getting an order of the cod, two orders of rigatoni, and an order of the charcoal spaghetti. The spaghetti was sitting in at least 6 oz of straight oil, and the rigatoni was terribly under salted/seasoned. I was extremely disappointed in the experience, especially after seeing it was a recommendation on the Michelin guide. Will not be returning.
Food was good, a bit of a surprise with the menu; what is advertised on their front door is not necessarily what youll see on the menu once you sit down. Service was speedy if not a bit impersonal, but they were fairly packed.
Great food. 100% get the corn agnolotti if it’s on the menu. We went pasta heavy and also got the cornbread and anchovy toast. Cozy environment and interesting comfort food.

Very expensive for the portion size. New hip flavor combinations that were half great and half meh. $10 table bread is three slices. Very slow service for ordering (more drinks) but wonderful service for water refills and cleaning. Loud with only ambiance being the full bar. Recommend Brussel sprouts and steam.
We looked forward to coming here for months. However this qualifies as one of the top 5 worst meals. The salad was very bitter. The fries were way over cooked. My steak was supposed to be medium rare minus and it was well done. No offer to replace it.Overall very disappointing and we will not be back.

Loved the dinner I had at Camper! The fries are *chefs kiss*. Perfectly crispy and so so thin. The sauce it comes with is so unique and is my absolute new favourite. You also cannot go wrong with the pastas they were very good.

My first time giving this place a try when we walked by it during brunch. Google map says dinner only and apparently they have Saturday brunch from 10-2 (around that time? I forgot the exact hours said on the menu). The food was flavorful and fresh. It’s got gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian options. The child menu items have reasonable prices. (There is a changing table in the lady’s room).
Frankly: Good starters, disappointing fish dish, very sweet and boring desserts. The can Sauvignon was also boring. But great staff.
Had good service, thought the food was very average especially for the prices however the cocktails were decent. Giving such a low rating because of the outdoor seating situation. They have all their heating lamps in the front of the restaurant keeping those tables warm, but didnt have any working lamps for the tables on the side of the restaurant (just 3 broken ones tantalizing us). They have heaters installed in the ceiling on the side, but we were freezing our entire meal and could only think about how cold we were the entire time.
Camper continues to be inventive, tasty, friendly, and a great place to go back to as their menu changes frequently. Theres a great mix of comfort food and surprises; known tastes and new ones. Helpful staff. Good wine by the glass.
Food was prepared well but the flavors just were not very good
Went for dinner for 2 and had a fabulous pumpkin soup followed by an absolutely delicious agnolotti dish with butter nut squash. For dessert the apple crumble was excellent as well. Our server was lovely too. Only critique: we wished the overhead lights in the restaurant were a tad dimmer to create a more cozy feel vs cafeteria lighting feel. Will definitely be back for more soon!
Dined with a small private group and everything was great apart from the cold draught and noise due to there only being a curtain separating us from the noisy group next door. Food and service was excellent though, super fresh ingredients.

Food was average, drinks were fine, location was great, server was good. However check came in with $2.20 ‘Healthy CA’ fee.I asked the server about the seemingly extra charge. She told me this is to provide insurance to the employees. I requested her to meet the manager as I didnt like the amount being charged. Manager told me that this is written in the end of menu ‘5% surcharge is added to our checks to provide comprohensive insurance and a living wage to our hardworking staff’By the end of it, I was glad that I was not charged for the air conditioner their staff use during the working hours. I do not think I would like to visit the place again.
I ate a little bit from across the entire menu. Not one dish disappointed. Very impressed with the meal and the drinks. Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for a new place to dine.
Love this place! Great wine list and delicious cocktails. The menu is creative and diverse, ranging from high end to casual. My favorite dish is the butternut squash ravioli with browned butter ☺️ Just thinking about it makes me want to rush back! Well run by professional and engaging staff.

My wife & I visited for our first time during brunch this Saturday. Lovely restaurant, beautiful decor with great attention to detail. The food is on point: fresh ingredients, balanced flavor & tasteful presentation. When a place makes their own hot sauce & ketchup it is next-level. This seemingly small, yet important offering informs a greater picture of what happens behind the scenes- lots of thoughtfulness & preparation. Service was relaxed, friendly, professional & attentive. Furthermore the atmosphere was enhanced by a perfect playlist for a sunny January brunch. Ive been in this industry for many years & having owned a wine bar I always notice these things. Thanks for providing us with such a down-to-earth, fantastic experience. We look forward to returning!

Found out after sitting down that the menu constantly changes and that means the food does also. The cornbread was the only thing that had some flavor to it and it was still bland. We ordered the 2 kids meals and the my children didnt even like them. The steak that I had was ok and the one that I had at Chilis was 100% better and cheaper than this one. The sad thing is I really wanted to like the restaurant. The decor of the restaurant was nice and our waiter was excellent to bad the food was disgusting. I will not go back to this restaurant because of the FOOD!
Unfortunately, the hostess and GM for the restaurant was having a bad night when we arrived. The rest of the staff was kind and helpful. The location is nice and outdoor seating is well lit and comfortable. The drinks and food were decent but our view was tarnished by the first experience we had with our check in.
I never write reviews but this time I’m going to do that. I had been in this restaurant 3 times and I gave them a second and a third chance but I’ll never go back there again. First we got to the reception we had been treated like we went to someone’s house uninvited as always and just to know we had reservation. After taking our order they made us wait for hour and 45 minutes seating on their metal super uncomfortable chairs outside in cold freezing and my 3 year old starving. The food was the worst. The chicken was so dry that I couldn’t even cut it. It had zero taste. Was just like boiled dry chicken. The more interesting part is that I had to come back home and cook for my family after paying a very large bill $$$$...Such a shame!I just have one message for the owner of Camper in Menlo Park, If you have no idea about this business just don’t waste your time and people’s money.

I used to enjoy the fish and chips and cioppino for lunch. It was too sad to see they are not in the menu any more. Good news is the menu has plenty of tasty new choices. Everything looks delicious. I came here for a birthday dinner and overall the experience was incredible.Our table wasnt ready, so we grabbed some drinks at the bar. That part sucked as we felt in the way of everyone.For food we got the yellowtail, which was great. The burrata which made us get a second order of.My gf got the pork pasta which was decent, nothing to write home about.I got their cheeseburger cooked to perfection, there was some super crispy bites which made me happy.

Fresh made pizza is tasty, can although the dough il doesnt have much flavor (I like Vina Enoteca better). Pasta dishes are very tasty. The entree selection is your standard salmon, chicken, wagyu steak. Apparently was told the menu currently is less refined/fun than before.
Had wanted to go to this spot for years. Finally had the chance and It did not disappoint. The service was fantastic and the food, wow. Great assortment of beers too. I sat outside and the atmosphere was so fantastic. Its a must go when you come to Menlo Park

I do plan to revisit when I have my full, ahem, supertasting senses.Camper breathes some fresh air into the Peninsula dining scene. Their seasonal, Californian-menu could fit in with their San Francisco peers. While each dish could be optimized, I thought the overall meal was of a higher caliber for this area.Deviled Eggs, 1000 island style - Wonderful presentation, though these could use some more acid or texture contrast for a more memorable bite.Blistered Shishito Peppers - Standard, solid preparation. Got an extra spicy one in there!Cornbread, honey butter - After reading Cherylynn’s review implying this was her new favorite, I was sorely disappointed with the execution tonight. Our cornbread was not crispy on the edges, it had no gritty texture contrast, and the butter did not have paprika.Cabot Cheddar Cappelletti - Really bland and forgettable. The pasta was also too al dente.Di Stefano Burrata, Root Vegetables Piccalilli Salad - The pickled root vegetables provided wonderful brightness and firm crunch that paired well with the creamy burrata. I wish the bread weren’t so burnt though.Homemade Rigatoni with “Sunday Bolognese” - This was also bland to me, but perhaps my taste was dulled. My dinner mates seemed to enjoy this one better than the cappelletti.Pork Chop “Tonkatsu”, Cabbage, Bonito, Okonomiyaki Sauce - This was my favorite dish of the night (and of course I accidentally deleted my photos of this one). The crispy tonkatsu style breading was excellent, and I enjoyed the okonomiyaki inspired flavors. The pork itself could use a tad more seasoning to make it pop, but lack of salt wasn’t as bothersome to me as it was to my peers.Whole Roasted Cauliflower - Fine, some promising brightness, but could use more seasoning.Dessert - Our large party passed on the dessert. They could benefit from a pastry chef consult.I didn’t try the cocktails, but they sounded promising. Service was pretty smooth. Overall, even given the weaker dishes, I would give them another try.
This place is AMAZING!!! Every menu item was delish. The service was impeccable. Great ambiance. Everyone MUST come here at least once!!! And I hear they change their menu often so come often to try their ever-changing decadence!

Lovely place, rest of food was good but the burger was mind-blowing. Perfect flavour and crunch, from the marinaded red onion slaw in it. Really amazing I still think about it!
The noise was deafening so we ran an errand rather than having before-dinner drinks. The waiters couldnt hear the order and screwed on one order so badly he sent it back. The manager complained he couldnt convince the restaurant backers to address the sound issue. It costs them our before dinner drink tab and future patronage. Shame on them.

Above average food but high prices and tiny portions make this an overall average restaurant at best. How small portion, my 11 year old on small side girl thought her adult entree was small.
Food is expensive but tasteless. Tried the rigatoni and the quinoa salad and its like they never put salt on it. The deviled eggs are filled with creamy eggyolk but again fairly tasteless.Will not come here again.
Noisy, very busy with very slow service. Group of 6 - 2 liked their meals, 4 did not.Wine list by glass C-, desserts B+.No need to go back.
Great food, friendly service, and nice location, but also way too loud. I couldnt hear the people sitting next to me very well, let alone from across the table. More sound dampening would make this place a 5-star spot.

This place has such a calm, cool vibe! The food is great and the service is stellar. We have been here a couple of times and have not been disappointed.
While the entrees were tasty, the desserts were disappointing. The overall feel is of trying so hard to be fancy/cool that it falls flat.

2023-06-24 19:53:39It was our first time at this restaurant. We had French toast and duck confit (it was duck hash). My son said it was the best French toast he ever had. I agree. The duck confit was good too. Our server was very nice. We chatted about her brunch philosophy.On our second visit, the French toast was just as amazing, better than my previous favorite French toast at a very nice French restaurant. We also loved the breakfast sandwich and smoke salmon.

2023-08-30 23:05:56Visited here during a business trip. The vibe is great. I had the Waygu burger entree. Not that impressed with the meal. It came out within 3 minutes of ordering, which meant it was already cooked and being kept hot on a burner or under a lamp. Drink was good! Seems like a nice place. Just doesn’t order the burger.

2023-03-27 04:50:07We had a terrific meal and time on a Friday night (8 pm to closing). Sampled a wide range of the menu (including cocktails) and were happy with everything. The place was bustling, but we were able to converse easily. Our server took great care of us and hung out for a bit after we paid our bill.

2023-04-15 19:50:27Food here was super yummy, I absolutely loved the butter that came with the bread. I don’t know what ingredients they use, but it has a tinge of sweetness to it and is honestly amazing. The pasta dishes are also very nicely done, not an overwhelming amount of carbs with the perfect amount of protein and veggie.My only complaint is that the dessert was a tad ambitious, I liked that the chief is willing to experiment, but I wouldn’t recommend the mochi strawberry dessert.

About 5 minutes after our main courses had arrived, the server came to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything else. Except that neither of our appetizers (tuna crudo and pickled vegetables) had arrived. It took a while for them to appear afterwards, so it seemed like they were forgotten all together. When I asked for some black pepper for my rigatoni, I was initially told they dont have black pepper, and was told to substitute with chili flakes instead. That was a bit weird. The main server corrected that afterwards.All the portions were quite small, especially given the price. The best part about the restaurant is the decor and atmosphere. But given the repeated back and forth on the service, I can only give them 3 stars at best.

2022-10-25 17:11:49Dropped in on a Saturday evening after a local event. Sat inside at the bar and treated to some great service by the two bartenders. The food and drinks were excellent. The menu items were creative and something for everyone.

2022-11-06 19:37:08This place was a pleasant little surprise that we bumped into while browsing for new dinner places. Its in a nice locale in Menlo Park and has a good ambience. Service is quick and efficient, and friendly. Food came out quicker and tasted great. The menu is small but fills you up and caters to a wide variety of taste options... the food turned out to be unique as well (eg.,the Burrata was a good surprise and I have never tasted one like that in any other restaurants I have been to). The drinks were great too. I definitely recommend this place for a unique and fairly quick dinner experience.

Think if they improved the service and made it more welcoming, it would have a great neighborhood vibe and probably a more loyal customer base. And recommend to either have waiters or the QR codes to order from, not both. It’s weird and unnecessary. Think people just want a great waiter and attentiveness in the end.

2023-02-18 18:20:50Good food. Good ambience. Good service. Definitely a bit on the pricey side, but was definitely worth it. Their Brussels sprouts were scrumptious. The charcoal stained spaghetti was finger licking good. And the cod was delicious as well. Overall great experience.

Athens food was fantastic the salmon could have used a little.more flavor every thing else was good ven tried caviar for the fist time and it was really good. Staff very accommodating and fun.
