Ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and crispy fries. Food came out hot and made to order. The chicken was fried perfectly and was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The slaw in the sandwich was also very tasty. My waitress was also great! Will be back.

I came here a couple of years ago and never reviewed this location. The staffs are fast and helpful. They take care of customers very well. The food tastes great. The Hawaiian Fried Rice portion is really huge, enough for 2 people. Parking is easy on the streets, front and back of the resto. It has outdoor seating with has shade and is cornered from wind.

Wow they were on top of their stuff today. I was served super fast, there was no need to even use my phone. Did the dine la dinner and got my appetizer in like a minute then after I was done with my main dish, and my dessert. All within minutes of finishing each.

A gem in south Pasadena. The food and service was pleasant. The TV’s are a plus and they accommodate to your request if you want to catch a game. There’s plenty of choices in the menu. I can’t wait to go back and try some of their other options. Great place for families.

Cannot say enough great things about this place. Its just plain delicious. HIGHLY recommend the Short Rib Loco Moco with fried rice. Eggs Benedict were amazing along with the macadamia nut French toast. Service is great and parking is decent.

After sitting on the front patio for 20 minutes with my dog, completely ignored by 4 or 5 wait staff who thought it more important to check phones, tips from previous customers and clear tables than even acknowledge my presence I walked out.Only then did one of them tell me to have a good night. A nice neighborhood tropical themed restaurant. I wouldnt exactly call it Hawaiian, but they do have a few Hawaiian choices on the menu. The nachos are very good, theyre made with pulled pork (think kalua pig). Also you can get spam musubi. These are the most Hawaiian items Ive tried on the menu. The rest of the menu Id refer to as tropical themed. Never-the-less Canoe House has a great atmosphere, and the food is great. They have good drinks if you like an occasional cocktail, and a good happy hour.

We arrived by accident at this lovely restaurant. A smart clean, Cafe style establishment. We were impressed with the staff and the quality of the food. Oh my gosh!!! This was the best Hawaiian food that Ive ever had this side of Maui. The pulled pork sliders are amazing the house made barbeque sauce is the best. The Hawaiian burger is yummy and pair it with garlic fries and you wont be sorry. The fish tacos are literally the best youll ever find outside of a Mexican restaurant and better than all Mexican restaurant but maybe one or two. They are that good. Youve got to get the Mai Tai if youre old enough. It tastes great and shoots well. Love the aloha vibe and the service was great!

When I miss being in Hawaii, this is my go to place. From the outside I never would have thought this was a Hawaiian restaurant. Im here quite often for the Hawaiian fried rice with Portuguese sausage and fried egg. My loves the fish tacos here too. Service is great and the bar service is excellent. We come here for Mai Thais and Pina Colada.

Have been here twice. Previously for drinks and appetizers. This time it was dinner. Great service but my burger was just normal. I could tell it was a frozen Patty and not a fresh one that was hand formed. For the price, I expect a good, flavorful fresh patty.

Canoe House is a great Hawaiian restaurant with great indoor and outside seating. I recommend the burgers, they are cooked to perfection, and all of the add-ons are delicious. I recommend Canoe House to anyone who visits South Pas!

Located in South Pasadena, this place is a nice spot for Hawaiian inspired dishes.The place is decorated to look like you are in Hawaï and this is a nice touch to help with your dining experience.The staff was friendly and attentive.The food was more of a fusion style and was quite delicious. My party had the fried rice and Udon noodles and we all enjoyed our food, which was served in generous portion.Overall a good dining experience worth testing.

Ive walked past this restaurant several times and always ignored it. It reminded me of The Island chain which Im not fond of. But Dine in LA gave me an excuse to check them out and Im so glad I did. I tried the Lemongrass coconut soup, the short rib Loco Moco and Pineapple upside down cake. All of these items far exceeded my expectations. The soup was great, all the flavors of the lemongrass, coconut and crab came through. The loco Moco was so good!! Shredded short rib, fried egg, gravy and rice. My only complaint was there was far too much onion crisps, but I just removed what I didnt want so it wasnt a big deal. Pineapple upside down cake was good, served warmed up with a scoop of ice cream. In conclusion, I regret not giving this place a chance sooner. Its definitely far superior to islands and I will be back for sure.Update: I just ordered the loco Moco again and this time they gave me fried rice without asking. NOTE: it taste much better with steamed rice!!

Ive driven by this place so many times, and never paid it much attention. Was driving by again recently while hungry and decided to give them a chance.Its a quaint little place, ample parking, decorated with an island theme, very clean. Service was very good, the Mexican Mule was excellent, with just the right amount of ginger, and the food extremely tasty and good value. Highly recommended

Ive driven by this restaurant numerous times, but this is the first time trying it out. Our table had the teriyaki wings, fish sliders, Big Kahuna burger and to top it off, the pineapple upside down cake. Every dish was outstanding. Also, our waiter Wesley provided excellent service. This may have been the first visit, but it definitely wont be the last.

It was our first time to eat there. After ordering our food, it was served within 15 minutes. The food was delicious. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with French fries.My daughter ordered the short ribs locomoco. Both were delicious. My grand daughter ordered Mac n cheese, a lava cake with ice cream. Going in on a Tuesday night for dinner. I arrived with some family members to celebrate my mothers birthday. The staff was professional and courteous. The food was excellent, and they even had a pineapple upside down cake for dessert. All in all I had a wonderful time at the Canoe House.

My wife and I have been to this place three times on the same days since we take our children to martial arts near by.The service has been good, the staff friendly, and the food very good.I went today and received poor service. Although the hostess seated me promptly at a table a few feet from the end of the bar near the window, I waited 7 minutes and no one came to the table to acknowledge or greet me. I watched the bartender go back and forth making drinks that printed up on the machine for patrons that were in the restaurant and then saw him chatting with the servers several times; not sure what is about. The manager was chatting also. More orders printed up and the bartender made the drinks, then started washing glasses less than 10 feet away from me. I was staring at them; no one even noticed.When I got up to leave, patrons at the bar stared since they knew I was not served. You meet and great a client in a few minutes. The hostess should also let the server/bartender know they have been seated. It was not busy at 7 p.m.Went to McDonalds since I had to pick my son up soon. I got better service and only paid $3.09.Very disappointing.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday and was surprised that we were able to be seated immediately. I hadnt been here in over a year and weekends were always very busy with a 10+ minute wait. The waitress arrived promptly, and the rest of the visit went on without a hitch. Orders were prepared, but the cook forgot to include a side, which the waitress corrected quickly. Portions were a bit smaller than I had remembered, so just a little disappointed about that( considering the pricing). But all was very tasty.Reccommemded to go for Brunch until 2pm, some very good menu choices, and they have certain specials on different days of the week that may interest those looking for happy hour places.

Good food, and the prices are reasonable. They also have nice new restrooms, with paper towels, not those silly blowers. I had a salmon burger which was excellent, and my wife had the chicken sandwich, which was abreast, and fried, but not oily. Our business associates had the chicken and the pot roast, both good. We have been going to this restaurant for something like 20 years, and it is now better than ever.

Parking is a bit confusing as they have two lots but not very difficult to get a spot.The food was good, not great but for the price we were very happy.I got a burger and my wife got a salad, both of which were above average in flavor. Everything at this restaurant is absolutely delicious. I used to come here weekly pre-pandemic. They are only open 4pm till close not but have longer hours on the weekends. I just moved to South Pasadena and have been here about 4 times since. I love it for being a community restaurant with a good beer selection and bar. The staff is great too. I also like the Hawaiian themed decor and some of the food items, but I do feel like that the food can be a little hit or miss. Whatever the case, I will be back!

Canoe House is okay, but disingenuous about their pricing and I dont care for that. Happy hour menu only available at the bar area or some such thing. Gimmicky specials with too many rules. Im old and dont want to have to think about timing or where I sit. I want to count on consistently good food at competitive prices. Service is very good 👍.Pet peeve: I cant believe they charge $9 for 1 Spam musubi; thats a $4 item at most. The desserts are prefabbed and not at all appetizing.

This is an incredible eating experience. The staff is warm and welcoming. Very cordial and accommodating. Eapecially when I asked to have another dish added to my tab 😅.The food is great too. I had the Katsu Curry and it is alright. A little salty but that can be balanced with the fried chicken and white rice. Which washes down nicely with their 🍋🍓 mojito. And their fried pork kalua tacos are amazing. The sauce is complimentary and the meat is comparably better than carnitas.

Most items are spicy and you cannot ask to change it. I ordered the breakfast burrito and I enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fish and chips, the tartar sauce was spicy and that is all they have. The coleslaw has wasabi and that could not be changed. Seemed more interested in taking away your plates than asking if you need anything else.

The house Mai Tai was good (not great) but my companions drink was a glorified daiquiri and was mostly ignored. The salad she ordered was over dressed, but the salmon was good. I ordered from the prix fixe menu : crisped brussels, North shore shrimp, and key lime pie. The brussels were good but a bit over salted. Shrimp dish was good and the key lime pie was excellent.

Interesting blend of food. I had never had this sort of Hawaiian/Portuguese cuisine, but the Portuguese sausage sliders I got were delectable. My gf got fried rice with Portuguese sausage and an egg on top 👌👌👌. Service was great and it had a nice Vive to it. I recommend it!

We used to go to Canoe about once a week. We loved their burgers and sweet potato fries. Last time we went the burger looked pretty sad and the bun looked like it had been microwaved. We sent it back and they brought the same burger and fries back with a new bun. The burger was now overcooked, the fries were cold, and the bun still below their usual standards. We found out they started using a different bun to save money and stopped using their awesome brioche type buns. Sad. We will not be returning until we hear their standards are higher.

Yum. The pulled pork sandwich was delightfully oily and richly flavorful, exactly what I remember from living in Kona. Even the bun is authentic Hawaiian! My wife’s Thai chicken salad was definitely a Hawaiian take on “Thai,” but that’s what we came for. We will be back!

The Canoe House is remarkable. The food is fantastic and the ambience is comfy.I highly recommend the Loco Moco. It is such a unique dish, and the Canoe House does a splendid job of keeping it true-to-form. The pulled pork mac and cheese is my second favorite dish here, and Im always torn as to what to get.

The Mbience was cool as I walked in. It felt a bunch like being at Dukes in Malibu or Hawaii especially after looking at the cocktail menu. Unfortunately, the service on this day did not match up. I sat at the bar waiting to be greeted for about 5 minutes. I asked twice if there was a bartender. The second time the person answered hes somewhere...followed after a pause by revealing it was him. That did not make me feel welcome at all especially since he walked by me several times as I sit at the bar waiting without him acknowledging my being there. Im not sure if it was the fact that he was handling too many tables on his own and he was the only bartender....or that he simply did not take pride in his job. Then came the overcharge. They were busy there and maybe they are used to people not checking the bill before they pay or just maybe....You decide.

Think of this place as a mom and pops version of Islands. The food is Hawaiian fusion. If you come here, you must get the Baby Back Ribs. They are so tender and moist. While they are not fall off the bone tender (like at Houstons), they are still pretty easy to eat with utensils so as to not get your hands dirty. They have an appetizer portion and an entree portion, the only difference is that the entree comes with fries.Another delicious item was the crab cakes. They were fried to a crisp golden brown and drizzled with some sort of tangy sauce, and accompanied with some mango salsa.I also tried the Huli Huli Chicken. Its a roasted chicken with a sweet and spicy sauce drizzled over it. Since it is an entree, it comes with french fries. But the waitress allowed me to switch it out for rice, which was such a good decision. The sauce of the chicken went well with the sesame white rice!Overall, I think this is a pretty good restaurant. The food is decent, and definitely brings a bit of change to the typical American-fare you find in small town South Pas.

I love this place! They create excellent menu items that you cant get elsewhere. Yes, other places have a quinoa salad, but at Canoe House you actually get quinoa! The chefs know how to deal with salmon and Ahi tuna expertly... the salmon burger is excellent, and the Ahi salad is so well done and with quality fish. My daughters favorite dish is the Hawaiian fried rice with an egg on top... she has actually texted me at work asking me if we can go out because she was craving her Hawaiian fried rice!

Fish and chips need work. 2 small pieces of fish both not longer than 3 inches long and maybe 1 1/2 inch thick. Chips were battered french fries, were warm. I wonder if because they are battered and hold a crunch longer they cook in large batches?? The gazpacho tasted like they opened a can of really good tomato soup, heated it up than put it in the drug for a day to make it cold, chopped up some veggies and there you go Gazpacho.

Super pleasurable in South Pasadena. All the highlights of Hawaii can be found right here on Fair Oaks. The burger so yummy, and the atmosphere so Tiki.
