We are visiting in the area. The restaurant was not very clean. Looked better on the outside than the inside. Salt, pepper shakers, soy sauce etc. were greasy and sticky. Food was just okay. Still looking for good Chinese restaurant in Visalia.

I used to love this place growing up but last few times I went especially this last time the food was not edible the floor and our both was covered with rice and noodles. My meal was gross I took one bite and pushed it to the side it was bad! The rice and noodles were mushy like baby food consistency and I still paid for a plate of food I didn’t eat. Sadly I definitely will never to back.

God forbid you give a drink of your soda to a baby because the servers will come and let you know you are not allowed refills for sharing with a baby who cant even finish a drink. I have never heard of this, much less after you have already ordered and never told or given a warning! There is only 2 good waitresses there and the rest are money hungry and rude! Yes we walked out!

We ordered orange chicken, beef and broccoli, veggie and egg fried rice, egg flower soup, chicken chow mein, and paper foil chicken. the food was extremely greasy and the rice tasted either old or burnt. the chicken smelled good but tasted and felt stale. most the steamed vegetables were still crunchy, as if they weren’t fully cooked. the beef was bland and the broccoli crunchy as well. good customer service however, just bad food. we still ate some of it because we spent a lot of money and had hopes because we used to love eating here but they’ve definitely gone down hill in the last few years, not sure what happened.

This place used to be an all time family favorite. Used to be. I dont know what happened to this place but it has gone down hill. We ordered a bunch of different things, and we could hardly handle the rice and chow mein. The broccoli and beef was completely undercooked. The vegetables were extremely crunchy and may as well have been just fresh vegetables. The meat was completely seasonless on almost everything. The egg flour soup is literally just water, vegetables, and egg. The rice is extremely greasy as is the chow mein. The Orange chicken was literally a giant piece of chicken. Cut up with orange sauce that tasted like it was left out all day. To top it off the meal itself that weve gotten added up to a hundred and fifty dollars plus. Will not be going back.

We come here for the tasty dishes that are on the menu. This time we ordered the sweet and sour shrimp; the combination house fried rice; and the house combination chow mein. This time we decided not to order any appetizers, since we usually have the pot stickers and the fried shrimp. Food was served quickly and we had some of their good tea. We enjoyed the food, and as usual, we had plenty of leftovers. Leftovers always taste better the next day, or the following day. If youre in the Visalia area, give them a try. You will be pleasantly surprised. Enjoy.

Food is yummy! We love to eat hear on the weekends! You can tell people love their food because they always have to go orders waiting on the table people waiting to sit down and dine in. Really good place to eat. Egg Fu Yung...yummy. The Diced Chicken was cubed...chicken and the water chestnuts. Without my glasses on they all looked the same. Mostly water chestnuts. Im not fond of celery in my food, so picked them out. I was there on a Thursday. Opened at 11am that day. Nice combos. ( Can be shared). Food really good.

We really enjoy their food but last night the service was off. I ordered last night at 7:07pm, the girl was very helpful and she made sure the order was correct even with not great phone connection. My husband went inside to pick up the food. It wasnt ready after 20 minutes. Then a server brought out the teriyaki chicken with no sauce. My husband said we need sauce. The server said he had to make it. By the time he got the food it was 8pm. No apologies. The teriyaki chicken was extremely dry, the rest of the food was delicious. We understand that a lot of restaurants are struggling to get staff just let the customers know whats going on. Customers will understand.

Canton Chinese Restaurant is in downtown Visalia and offers a decent but limited variety of Cantonese style cuisine. Dishes are somewhat traditional but lack authenticity. Other than the staff, there are no Asians here which goes to explain the cuisine. It isnt bad, but it is not truly what you would find in a Chinese patronized restaurant. Dim sum is not served here. The staff here are reasonably friendly and polite.

Called and ordered their spice fish with fried Rice, The guy that took my order repeated my order back to me. When I went to pick up my food they again repeated the order of spicy fish. When I got back to work I opened the container of Spicy Shrimp. I called to let them know and they said let them check and they will call me back . I went In for dinner, food was great, and the service was great. Paid for my meal and left a tip on the table. Everything was fine until I checked my bank statement to see that they overcharged me. So I called them to let them know, and the guy basically laughed at me, he told me to come in so they could refund me. I went in later that day, and the same lady that helped me the night I was there told me no. That my bank was wrong, even after showing her my statement. After the incident I will not be back. Please beware and double check to make sure they charged you the correct amount.

Great place to eat if you are with a larger crowd. The lunch specials are daily before 4. Its a good opportunity to try different options and share with your group. Sorry but when you order lemon fish and another plate that not their fault has to be in a to go container but their fault when the lemon fish on bottom is soaked in the lemon sauce and even though a very good portion, the top pieces were warm at best. I tried ordering over the phone and the lady wasnt making sence and was being a little rude, like she was in a hurry to get me off the phone. They dont explain how they do things. I mainly came for soup, turns out they only serve soup if you bring your own container. I guess they are to broke to order take out bowls. Would of been nice if I was told that over the phone instead of driving 20 mins out there. Ended up ordering food I didnt really want. I didnt drive that far just to go home empty handed. So Im ordering a combo and they wouldnt let me order what I wanted. I specifically said I just want a plate with certain items. This place is a true visalia gem, and they have the awards to prove it! I recommend going for the lunch special and getting the orange chicken plate. The portions are honestly more than enough for two grown adults. My wife and I often split a plate and still go home with a 2go box. The staff, for the most part, have been there as long as I can remember and take pride in their work. Their is usually not any kitchen delays out hold ups so you can expect freshly made delicious food for under ten bucks a person.

Terrible experience with this restaurant today. I made 3 orders of their Canton Chow Mein which was a $35 purchase. Upon ordering, the person who took the order said that there may not be enough to make 3. She put me on hold to verify with the kitchen. When she got back on the phone she said it was fine, but I told her that if they cannot fulfill the full orders then I didnt want all 3. She assured me there was enough. I paid and picked up my order and drove back to Exeter. When I opened one of the containers, there was one that wasnt full. I called the restaurant and was put on hold for 7 minutes. She finally got on the phone and told me to bring in the food so she could see it. I told her I would not make this up and she asked for my # so she could call me back after she talks to her staff. Her staff told her the orders were full.. I told her my container was definitely not full.. She then said that her kitchen cooks said it was. By then I was pretty irritated and I couldnt believe she was making me go through this nonsense instead of either reimbursing my money or re-making the order fully. Very bad for business that they didnt want to just compensate their mistake. Never again. Check your orders before you leave their restaurant.

First restaurant that takes the cake for worst service ever! Been here a few times now, and everythings always been good. This visit was a little different. Me, my wife and 3 kids arrived and asked for a table. The waitress attempted to sit us at a table, and we told her we prefer a booth. She told us that our food wouldnt fit, and we told her we would make it work. She continued to make comments about how it wouldnt work out, and eventually sat us in the booth.After sitting us, she came back and we ordered 2 sodas. She asked us what other drinks we were gonna order for the kids, and we told her all we wanted for the meantime was the 2 sodas. She returned with the 2 sodas and then began to tell us that only my wife and I could drink from the sodas, they were not for the kids since we didnt order enough drinks.I told her how I was becoming frustrated that I came to eat dinner, and she has given me a hard time from not letting us sit in the booth, to now making a big deal about not being able to share our sodas because everybody needed to order their own! I told her I was really considering leaving because she was making my visit something it shouldnt be, she replied, I dont care! We got up and left. I then asked the cashier if I could speak to the manager/owner...she pointed at the same lady that was being rude.She told us that the lady we were arguing with was the owner. I told the cashier if the owner was giving being rude and giving out that level of service, theres definitely not a fix for my issue.

I really hate that I had to give this place 3 stars instead of 4 (which is my high score because 5 stars the place must be perfect in all aspects) due to customer service. I asked if I could have my chow mein in a separate container because I didnt want it to mix with my food; in the middle of me talking the clerk says no, it comes how we fix it. I was shocked! This place was not the greatest. Gave me stomach pain. Service wasnt great at all. We called ahead of time and asked for their spare room because we had a party of 17. They said it was available & when we got their we were placed in the back instead. We had to squeeze in and no one had any room. They told us a party of 30 was coming but we were there for more than 2 hours and no other party came. Also hungout in the parking lot for at least 45 mins and still no big group showed. We asked for tea all around and werent given enough tea or cups. Didnt give us enough sauce for 17 people with appetizers. Womans room is tiny and looked unsanitary. The worst Chinese food Ive had.

$30 for 4 drinks, a plate of food and 2 plates of cold food that was sent back twice. To be told it is from the steam table so to get it hot they will microwave it for me. What!!!? Why is the steam table not at proper temperature? I will pass on the food poisoning thank you. We had already given the kids some of the cold rice, 2 won tons and 3 shrimp. They should have comped the entire meal. Will never go there again, and it was one of our favorite Chinese food. Knowing they dont keep steam table to code is a no go for me.

The Canton is one our favorite restraunts, which we have been enjoying for 17 years so far. Great Food, Great Service, Great Prices. The restraunt does get really busy at times, so it can get a bit loud. Located right behind the Regal Cinema on Main Street in Visalia. Perfect place to park your car, grab lunch then catch a movie. Or catch a movie then have dinner at the canton. Either way you can have a great evening.

Heres my story. I was eating dinner with a friend here about 1year ago this time. I was in the middle of a spoonful when a little 6yr old girl with her family started screaming. She pointed under the register, and there was a dead mouse. The little girl had accidentally bounced her bouncy ball under the register where she found the dead mouse. The lady immediately claimed it died outside and came in to die?? I immediately got up, asked for my money back and left. All other families and guests lined up for refunds. To say the least, it was a bad scene. Some people simply left. I am only writing this because even a year later I feel people need to know. I will never eat here! Take it or leave it, I have no vested interest but sharing my honest opinion. Dead mice means, lights go off and place has a mice infestation. Save yourself.
