I ordered take out today and about two weeks ago. Sean answer the phone and took my order the last two times. He is polite, he knows the menu and makes sure my orders are correct. The food is so good I have had the shrimp fried rice, chicken egg foo young.the big egg rolls and chicken and broccoli. All were delicious. And they give you a lot you can feed two to three people with one order. Here is the chicken and broccoli and shrimp fried rice. I already ate a plate of the chicken and broccoli and still have this left. Again thank you Canton and Sean.
Lunch specials are reasonably priced. Food is superb! Always need a to-go box. I recommend this place to people I know

Super happy surprise while passing through town! The breakfast was what you would expect from a cozy small town Cafe/American breakfast. Cheap, extremely friendly, and my coffee stayed full. Id take it over IHOP or Dennys any day.
Appetite obbligato: The Canton Restaurant offers very generous and tasty servings. This was my first experience with Hong Kong style Chow Mein (see photo). My wife had Chicken Lo Mein, which was also a generous serving.

Honestly I have to say this is the best place to eat in Barstow. The servings are huge, the service is great, and the price is perfect either for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Food was not hot, found cold spots on the plate. Charged for fried rice which was white rice with soy sauce, no veggies or egg. Terrible place will NOT RETURN. Go somewhere else!!
First time at the Canton since 2020. The AC is broken today and its 109 degrees outside. It was nearly unbearable. Food was good but its not enjoyable eating in a place that hot.

Nice dinner! Went here almost 10 years ago and it was awful, vowed not to go again. My students told me it had changed management and was great. They suggested I try it now. Went for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Had Teriaki chicken. It included steamed rice & broccoli, plus a bowl of egg drop soup. Very tasty. My friend had kung pow chicken. It was good, but much spicier than he had anticipated. Price was great for two meals. We both decided we needed to keep coming back!
This is a great family restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. The owners take pride in their business and treat customers with respect and the waitresses are also friendly and provide good service. You get good consistent portions. Food was good, but the service was chaotic. We were with a large group of people. When the server came to us, my wife and I were still deciding so we all her to come back to us. She never did. When others were being served their food we realized they overlooked us. We ordered the family pack. When they brought my soup, my wife asked for hers. They said we had to order for each person. We said we did and they said oh. When we were ready to go, we were confused because no one brought us our check. Some people thought maybe the host paid for it. Turned out she didnt. As we were leaving, we heard the manager or owner calling out the food people had ordered. Lucky we were still there to pay, but a couple of friends had left already. Like I said. Chaotic.
Went as a last minute dinner date after work with my husband. The food was great. The portions are plenty for more than one meal or to share. The service was great and fast. The server even took her break and was chatting with us while we all ate. She of course was at another table.

Prices were not that bad but the service was not great at all. After she brought our food to us she immediately handed us the bill. Never came back to check on us or anything. Paid the extra dollar for the fried rice and it came out on a very small plate. The menu says no refills on drinks but another table got a refill so maybe it was just us. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. The food wasn’t anything to brag about at all. No flavor lacking salt. Just all around a bad time. Don’t waste your money here.

I personally thought it was a little pricey for certain items, but they are the best Chinese restaurant in Barstow. They also have a non Chinese meal for the ones in your party who prefer burger and fries. Great customer service, staff are always happy.
Not good. Had seen some bad reviews but wanted to be fair and give it a shot. When we sat down only 1 other table was full. Other people, who appeared to be regulars because they called the owner by name, came in and were helped before us. The waitress was talking to the others and we had to get her attention to take our order. My friend ordered breakfast with ham and ended up with bacon and the hash towns were under cooked. I ordered appetizer egg rolls, which were $1.99 each. The waitress said $7.99 and I told her I wanted the $1.99 appetizer one. She said well it comes with 2. I said I just want whatever is $1.99. Got the bill and was charged $3.99. I complained and she said well I told you it came with 2. We dont make them single. I told her they need to correct the menu because I said whatever was $1.99 not $3.99. Very disappointed in the taste of the food as well. We wont be going back. 1st time shame on me, I wont be back for a 2nd time.

The service was average but the drinks tasted watered down I ordered Fanta orange and it didn’t taste right so I asked to get sprite which still had a different taste. I ordered mash potatoes and they tasted like dirty socks. And the wonton soup was okay but I didn’t like it. Also ordered orange chicken which was less than average and I can assure you I can find better food any where else.

Huge portion of Friday night special Prime Rib... complete meal, soup or salad, choice of potato (fries, mashed or baked) or rice, side of green beans and dinner roll plus ice cream or some fantastic egg custard... $15.25 solid 8 out of 10 for taste! Service was slow but that was because they were so packed with only 2 wait staff, well worth the wait and money. Will definitely be back.
This place use to be great pre COVID. The service was HORRIBLE. Side of steam rice and chicken noodle soup took 40 mins to come out. We also got the family Chinese meal for 4 and that took 55 mins to come out and it came out really staggered with items we didn’t order some of the food was so cold from sitting waiting to be served to us. The gravy on the meal was so cold it had the lard top layer. My son got a water and needed a refill and the waitress said I’ll give you tea ok I don’t have water with me so you take tea. Our family fried rice portion came out after we got check and was getting ready to pay. DO NOT GO HERE UNTIL THEY GET IT TOGETHER !!!

Took my elderly father in-law here for lunch. He is a vegetarian. He comes here 1-2 a month with my sister and gets plain white sticky rice and tofu. On this visit he ordered and asked the server THREE times for plain white sticky rice and he had her confirm that he was a vegetarian. Low and behold our meals came out and his sticky rice had meat in it, luckily he didnt consume much but this was absolutely disgusting. The staff took the rice off th bill but that was the least they could do. Th y didnt seem to care they fed meat to a vegetarian. Staff was untrained and unknowledgeable about the menu. Inhad to order my beer three times before I got it and we got attitude when asking for glasses for the beersFood was just ok, nothing special. Bathroom was dirty.
The food was tasteless .ordered chow me in no color it was pale dint look appetizing .The orange chinken was very dry & tough . the only thing that was a little tasty was the fried rice . the chef needs to learn chinise cooking . our waitress very nice & efficient .
Got worst over the years, last visit three years ago, and then it was below average then. Had hoped it was a one off bad experience, no. Funny thing is the place has regulars, mainly older people. Ordered three lunch specials, all came with cold fried rice. Homemade dry egg rolls. Beef looked like left drying out for a day and really black on edges, could of been someones leftovers. Battered chicken in s&s was dry but with heavy batter tasted like freezer burnt as well. Sauces odd taste, though the Mongolia beef tasted good when licked (unable to chew). Cashew chicken meat was tender and with fresh veg with small handful of roasted nuts dressed on top, err what. Soup was average. Could not recommend to anyone, worst food I think I have come across in over eight years. Think the trick is, is to order American here or dont enter (use side door front door locked on our visit). Final note: this review and edit was typed while sitting on a toilet BTW I had the Cashew chicken this is the four sitting in less than 24 hours.

So....I used to love this restaurant before ot changed owners and always gave it high ratings for the food quality. Let me tell you, it has changed for the worse! I really want it to be great and I really want to tell you its good but Id be lying. The remodel is awesome 👌 and the old stinky moldy carpet is gone...yeah! However the food and service is not up to par. I ordered the hamburger steak with onions baked potato and pea soup . The soup never came and the meal arrived with no grilled onions, gravy, or baked potato. Evidently they were out of pea soup and baked potatoes on a Thursday at 4pm. I recieved cheap French fries instead and after asking recieved a tiny dishes grilled onions and cold canned gravy. I also recieved a tiny dish of tasteless canned green beans mmmm.. The ground beef steak was cooked well but was tasteless. The whole time Im thinking Robert Irvine on restaurant impossible would probably throw his plate at the chef and say blah tasteless but I was kind and respectful and didnt go there. However, if things dont drastically change the Canton Chinese restaurant will be out of business. I really want it to succeed.
I had the Ground round steak with onions, my friend had the Chicken fried steak and as usual it was very good. The Canton has been closed for remodeling almost a year and it was worth the wait and the new owners and staff are going to be fantastic once they get a handle on running the restaurant.
Really wanted to like this place, but the food was inedible. If you find yourself out here in no mans land foraging for food try Panda Palace instead.

The best egg drop soup and egg rolls Ive ever had! There was also a super nice waitress who invited me to stay longer until my tires were fixed next door. Im just traveling through, but I wish this place was in my hometown.
I ordered a vegetable dish, and another dish omitting the meat. They brought me 2 of the same exact thing. The mushrooms are canned; pretty bland food. The waitress wears a very overpowering perfume but is quite friendly, so I give her 2 stars. But the food here isnt good. Go to Panda Express instead.

Disgusting food! Will never eat here again. I could barely finish my plate. Rice was cold and dry. Soda was flat and Apple juice was watered down plus it was that artificial Apple juice with high fructose corn syrup. The only appetizing dish I would say was the teriyaki chicken.
The duck is soo AMAZING ! Everything else .... not to sure about. Combination fried rice is too oily, the lo mein noodles has this weird sauce to it and its not good, the dim sum platter was okay. I like 2 things from that platter which was some shrimp wrap and a pork dim sum. I would definitly go back just for the duck.

I wont mention the names of the other places because its not in my interests to leave bad reviews.The negative comments come from people who only leave bad reviews . I went to the bad reviewers page and it shameful that they only leave bad reviews for people who work hard to build a business . The eggs rolls are the best Ive ever had in America! But... Im giving you a 3 star because you do not yet serve Crab Rangoon which is an Epic Failure. I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that had no Crab Rangoon in America which I might also add is my favorite. You also have no buffet options which is another failure. If your food items are Spicy? Please ADD that information to the menu. Some people can NOT handle Spicy foods! That should be listed before someone orders OR their meal should be free because they are not getting what they assumed they would and paid for. Whoever is answering the phones and is taking orders needs to be trained or replaced by someone who understands English and can ADD. Two lunch meals for delivery adds up to over which is the $20 delivery minimum!

Used to be a great place with great food under old ownership who kept a close eye on staff, but new owners are marginal and seem conviently unable or unwilling to understand their customers language and concerns, a take it or leave it theme prevails now.Some wait staff seem to act like tipped unsupervised ownership members and are rather snooty and act entitled in my view.
Bery friendly staff! The place is simewhat oldish but clean and has a very large parking space. The food is not something Id come back for sadly. Portions are large but bland.

Canton Restaurant is a fantastic place for Chinese food as well as American food also. They have great comfort foods too, like dirtyrice this is white rice with gravy over it.Excellent customer service & when its busy, you may have a longer wait, but you will find it is well worth the wait.
I ordered the vegetable chop suey, to go didnt realize till I got home 60 miles away he failed to pack the rice .The taste was so bland, the chef has lost it .The turkey fried rice was ok.
Its a little cold, the air conditioner is constantly blowing. People who ache in their body, ache more when they leave. The sign on the front door needs to come down. Thats not a good business practice. The waitresses are not supposed to be in charge. But the owner is letting them be in charge. The food needs to be better. Sometimes the rice is hard.

We had a good run for Chinese buffets for this whole trip until this one. We thought Canton restaurant was a buffet place. Turns out its a regular American restaurant, not a buffet restaurant. Its a wannabe Norms restaurant. We had 3 dishes: meatloaf, pan fry pork chops, roast chicken. They all come with salads, soup, dinner roll, green bean. Pork chops were too dry. Roast chicken tastes like 5 day old socks, even the baked patato tastes like 5 days old socks . The only edible foods were salad, apple sauce and meatloaf. They do give a lot of food though.

I have been going to this restaurant for 45 years. I love this place it hold a lot of memories for my family. The food is awesome the people are amazing.
We stopped at this little restaurant for dinner, coming from Death valley. The place looks old and uninspiring, I was sceptical if this were a good choice but had no choice because it was late in the evening. We ordered a noodle, a tofu, a beef and a chicken. All except for the noodle were excellent. The mapo tofu, unlike many typical restaurants, was on the mild side but had very delicate taste for you to explore. The Mongolian beef, looked as though been though fire, Smoky and Rich. The kongpao chicken, is well balanced and perfectly braised. I have been eating Chinese food all over the places, including China, and I was rarely surprised. Yet this little beat down place surprised me three out of four. I rarely write review about restaurants, but this one deserve some praise.

Moogoogaipan was pretty good. And the hot and sour soup was hot as promised. Usually restaurants that share two totally different menus Chinese/American food end up not be in ng very good at either one. Canton is the exception. Staff was friendly.
Wife and I eat here twice a month. When family comes to B town, they ask to go to the, Greasy Spoon. Soup, salad and dinr for 2, iced tea and deserts. Tickets bout $25...total. Good breakfast too.

After eating here three times I can honestly say I do not like the meats or the sauces. I eat the teriyaki and orange chicken. As well as the spare ribs. All gross. Honestly unacceptable to eat I couldnt finish none of my plates. My girlfriend loves Asian food but with limited choices in Barstow we tried it she was so upleased the last time and how nasty my ribs were we will no longer attempt.

Around January 28, 2022 me and a few friends went to Canton Chinese Restaurant to have breakfast and when they brought us our food it was cold then the waitress took our food and put it in the microwave to warm it up then brought it back and it tasted like fish I didnt eat it but they still charged me 🤮🤮🤬🤬

Foods good but overpriced. My favorite item is the Shanghai style noodles. It cost $16 for the same thing Im used to paying $8-9 for in other towns. Unfortunately its the only place to get it in Barstow.

The Canton Restaurant has been in Barstow for as long as I remember. Although it has changed owners a few times, it still has great food, great service and friendly waitresses (with the exception of the one with an attitude.)

Worst food I have ever tried. Dirty place to eat. Their glasses were oily. Couldnt eat the coke. Left all food.

Was very unhappy with my food here reason why my food had a piece of plastic in it from something which crashed mine and my sisters appetite but the waitress did take that food off our bill which I did appreciate that since I didnt eat the chow me in after getting a piece of plastic in my mouth the first bite

2023-11-26 20:00:19We left Denys with a bad experience and very hungry, we were looking forward to coffee and a pancake, although we saw this small restaurant open we entered and from the first moment they served us excellently (it is a Chinese food restaurant) by giving us the menu. We noticed that they also have a breakfasts menu, that contains eggs, pancakes, coffee, orange juice, etc. In less than 5 minutes we already had drinks and they had already taken our order, they also have Chinese food breakfast options, the price is quite good and the food is delicious. If you are heading to Las Vegas or returning to Los Angeles you should stop by to eat.

I paid extra for fried rice and got rice fried only with soy sauce (no egg, no veggies, thats $5 extra).I went at lunch time and ordered the mongolian beef. They didnt bring soup and I realized with lunch, you dont get soup. However, when the check came they charged for the entrée price.

2023-08-13 19:28:51Found this restaurant when Googling. My husband and I both picked salt and pepper pork chops lunch specials and we were so happy 😁. The flavor was just right and we still have some left over for dinner. Will keep this restaurant as my favorite so we can re-visit on our way to Las Vegas or back home in the future

2022-03-13 19:43:22Went here with my family last night, had a decent dinner. Their dumplings were very good, shrimp fried rice, beef broccoli and salt and pepper chicken wings were scrumptious. I ordered the beef ribs special for Saturday night, it was alright, the egg drop soup tasted like a mix of egg drop and chicken noodle soup. The shrimp in lobster sauce didn’t look very appetizing . Overall, we had a nice dinner as a family, waiter was awesome, drinks were always filled and he constantly was checking on our table. I hope they continue to concentrate on perfecting the Chinese dishes. We’ll definitely be back to support this restaurant until they give us a reason not to.

It all had the same oil flavor taste and the oil tasted old 🤢 None of my friends liked going there, but I loved it until recently! 🤮 At first I thought that maybe it was peanut oil, but as I continued to eat from the other trays, I realized it all tasted the same. Also, thier breaded chicken tasted like it wasnt fully cooked. Also, I was charged more than what the menu says. I didnt expect such a high bill. I wouldnt mind paying higher prices for great food and service. When I ordered food in the past, they always took a long time to serve. I was surprised that it was ready in 15 minutes. That tells me that the food wasnt freshly made and that it had been sitting for a while 🤔😳😵💫😵💫

2023-02-11 03:34:01Canton Chinese restaurant has been a well established business serving the Barstow community for years. It is a full service facility that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have rooms for banquets, including a large round table that seat 12 - 14 people. Complete with a glass Lazy susan. The menu has many selections from which to choose from. Entrees are served fast, hot, and accurate. The restaurant is clean, and the customer service is excellent. Price point $$.

If you need a meeting place they have a very nice option for smaller groups of up to 60. Breakfast lunch and dinner and on the weekendsA really nice prime rib plate at a real in value

2023-01-04 04:04:07This was a wonderful surprise. They were understaffed, but still put out great service, and excellent food. The veggies in both dishes were fresh and crisp, the sauces very tasty, and the beef, tender, tender, tender! We’ll be back!

2021-05-05 22:14:44Its a nice little restaurant following in the shoes of its predecessor. The wait staff is very nice and attentive while the wait time for food was around average for the items I ordered. I ordered an appetizer of BBQ pork and the kings meal (2 prime rib steaks, french fries, broccoli, fried zucchini, and soup). The steak was a little overdone to my liking and could have used a little more salt but honestly the food was overall good.
