If you want some genuinely delicious Caribbean food - this is the place to be. I can’t believe this hidden gem is nestled here in the San Gabriel Valley! I’ve only eaten here twice but I’m hooked. The oxtail stew will always be my favorite with the jerk chicken a close candidate. The cheese rolls are great and those plantains - yum!The guy at the counter is so courteous and friendly - thank you!Thank you guys for bringing some authentic and delicious food our way - we’ll definitely keep coming back for more :)

I was super excited to find an authentic Caribbean restaurant while working in San Gabriel. It is located in the Blossom Market Hall. I will definitely return with my full appetite. I jumped for joy when I saw the cassava pone which I haven’t had in over 7 years. Prices were reasonable and inline with our current small-business economy.I had an opportunity to meet and greet with the owner. She is a very kind and passionate woman. I enjoyed our brief conversation and her energy. I like how the restaurant has a reusable bag discount. Customer service was 10 stars!The food hall had easy parking. I didn’t have to search or wait. The location is near many nice homes and the area has been redeveloped into a cool and hip neighborhood. Inside the food hall, there is something for everyone and all the vendor kiosks seemed top-notch and high-quality.I will definitely return and consistently patronize this restaurant.

Let me tell you! This place has theeeee best oxtail with gungo rice and steam cabbage that I’ve ever had!! I’m Jamaican and I have not had oxtail and rice like that in yearssss! Tasted like my grandmother’s cooking!

Came on the opening weekend. Oh my, it was so packed, people everywhere. But we were lucky to find outdoor seating. Speaking of the food, we opted for a Jack chicken plate and a cheese roll. Not gonna lie, we came for this and it didnt disappoint. We really enjoyed the chicken plate. Loved their chicken, it was so flavorful and tender! Really tasty! Cheese roll was decent too. What also impressed us was the owner from Caribbean Gourmet, who was sweet and friendly! Would def love to be back to try more, heard that they make really good oxtail stew too. All in all, I recommend this place!

I ordered the ox tail. Don’t hesitate and order it. The meat falls right off the bone. We are so lucky to have food from Guyana in our backyard.I’ll be returning as often as possible to try the other dishes.

Tried the jerk chicken and curry chicken. Both were good. We wouldve gotten the oxtail but it was sold out. We came near closing time. Thats their most popular dish, so if you want to try that, come earlier. Overall, Im happy they have this food joint in the area!Note: direction on any map apps we used led us to the wrong place or to a school. If you have this issue too, just look up Blossom Market Hall since its located inside.Theres parking on the street and on site. They take credit card too.

The owners and their kids super friendly smiling. Food is definitely off the chain. Thank you for my curry fixing. Pine tart you can taste the pineapple in each bit. Chicken curry I can taste the geera. When I get back home to FL I will change my ingredients when I make curry.

Since they opened around the corner from me I must stop in to pick up food regularly. As the only real caribbean food place in LA County people come from San Diego to eat when they see the weekly specials on the website. Roti, Jerk Salmon Fridays, Doubles on special occasions..., I now check.the website to decide the best days to a stop by. But the Sorrel is great any day. A favorite foodie place to eat.

This is a wonderful little (Guyanese?) restaurant in a food mall (super cool) in San Gabriel. Jam packed with flavor, my boyfriend and I got the vegan curry with roti and vegetarian patty. This was such a wonderful meal and I’m so happy to have found this only 15 minutes from Los Angeles. Will absolutely be back and highly recommend!

I like Oxtails so trusting the great reviews, I bought 2 meals, 1 Jerk Chicken, and 1 Beef Empanada to share with parents. We all loved everything and ate for 2 days. The Oxtail meat was falling off the bone, the Jerk Chicken juicy and wonderfully seasoned, the rice and beans well cooked (what brand of rice do you use 🤔😅), the cabbage and plantains as equally delicious. The Beef Empanada was packed with a lot of beef and everything worth the price, hope to return to try the other meals.

Found out about this little market hall last week and finally decided to come try some food here.I had no idea what to expect as Ive never had caribbean food before, but my god was I not disappointed. I got thr Chicken curry +rice+ peas.The chicken was savory, moist and shredded really easily. The peas were flavorful with a bit of a spicy kick (not too much), and the rice had this slightly sweet taste to it. All of this resulting in a beautiful combination of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors that blend and compliment each other really well. And to top it all off, this entire meal felt so light to the taste and didnt leave me feeling dense like I had just ate an entire buffet.Definitely coming back and trying the jerk chicken next!

So my teen son and his mom raved about this place a couple of weeks ago. He had the jerk chicken, she had a beef pattie. Some of their family members came in from Mexico and it was suggested we go there. GOOD CHOICE!! While they all had the jerk chicken, I tried the ox tail stew. It was absolutely delicious!! We all had a beef pattie as well. The portions were generous and the food very tasty. The family members from Mexico had never had Caribbean food and they were extremely pleased. We will be back soon. Thank you Ms. Yonette for taking time to thank us for supporting you, but Im the one who have to thank you for such wonderful food and service!!

My friend and I first time here and we were both happy we tried them out! She ordered the jerk chicken and I got the oxtail stew. The food was so delicious! The staff is friendly and we got our food so fast. Would definitely be back to try other dishes! Great parking too.

AYooooo their beef stew was BOMB!! I surprised myself by finishing the whole thing, even though the plate was massive cause it was so good. I wish there was more Caribbean food near me in LA proper, but this place def warrants another visit!

I discovered this place online and decided to give it a try. Stopped by last nite and ordered the oxtail. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Being Jamaican, Im VERY picky/biased when it comes to oxtail. However this was very tasty, well seasoned and tender. My only reason for giving 4 stars and not 5, is that the meat itself was stringy/trashy (which is usually because the oxtail is old) Thats the only downside, rice and peas was very good. I will definitely go back, but I would suggest using smaller oxtails or order from a different source . Taste was delicious except for the texture.The guy at the cashier was very pleasant too, good service 👏

The ABSOLUTE BEST CARIBBEAN FOOD in California! One of the few things I miss about L.A. My favorite ritual was going to see Yonette and her family on weekends for their amazing pastries and home cooking! If you’re new to Caribbean food, start with patties. Warning, you’ll be spoiled and will be disappointed forever more, trying food from other places. Apart from the food, the service is spectacular and you always feel welcomed and part of the family!

A delightful find. Great ambiance in the Blossom Market Food Court. I found this place on Google upon deciding not to take a twenty mile drive to my favorite Jamaincan Restaurant in Los Angeles. The Oxtail plate at Carrbean Gourmet was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I ordered an additional two plates to go to take home for family members. The food here is superb, fresh, beautiful presentation. I will most surely return to this eatery. The food is prepared with love.❤

There’s a new caterer in town, and they are something special. Through my favorite chamber of commerce, the San Gabriel Chamber of Commerce, I met Yonette Alleyne, proprietor of Carribean Gourmet, located in San Gabriel’s marvelous new Blossom Market Hall.To begin with, my family is not very adventurous when it comes to holiday meals. We were having a Friendsgiving dinner for 20, and I wanted something other than Turkey dinner (which we were doing the next day).Yonette proposed the menu, adjusted a number of dishes for our dairy- and gluten-free guests, and was very warm, friendly, and responsive. She even sent reheating instructions for our personal menu, all in the order of preparation time!Th meal and appetizers were fantastic. The one thing you MUST get if you stop by her location at Blossom Market Hall, is either a beef or chicken “patty.”You might wonder if it’s like a hamburger patty. No. It’s best described as an empanada with a flakey outside and splendidly seasoned beef or chicken on the inside - very flavorful and moist.The entire meal was a huge hit. The menu included appetizer-sized patties, zucchini and goat cheese tartlets, herb-roasted chicken thighs, rice pilaf, brown butter Brussels sprouts, sautéed butternut squash, and brioche rolls. Each item was a standout. I salivate just remembering that dinner! And everyone at the party loved each dish!Servings were very generous, and the cost is very reasonable. And Yonette and her team could not have been more professional and delightful.I can’t wait for more. I HAVE to go to San Gabriel’s beautiful Blossom Market Hall for more of Caribbean Gourmet’s outstanding, and just plain yummy, culinary creations.

They have gluten free options that are out of this world.Come early because the oxtail and jerk chicken get sold out as more people find out about their well seasoned food and generous portions. The entrees come with fragrant peas (little red beans) and rice, cabbage, and fried plantains. The cassava pone is the best tea time treat. I must support this small business, as much as I hate showing up and finding out my favorites have sold out for the day.

I tried this place for my first time the other night. Never had Caribbean food before. The oxtail plate was delish, but just a little too salty. Meat tasted tender. The rice was perfect. It came with beans and fried banana. I also tried my sisters chicken curry. That was good, too.Id come back!

Fantastic. Been wanting to come to Blossom Hall market for some time now. My wife and I arrived just as the place was opening. I went straight to Caribbean, gourmet and new what I wanted. I requested more veggies and no rice or beans which they accommodated. It took about 10 minutes and my lunch box was steaming hot. I was so full that I probably could have split it up, but I truly enjoy the whole dish. The plantains were great also.

I ordered the chicken curry, roti and jerk chicken with high hopes of really wanting to like this place. Having experienced eating at 3Dives in Jamaica (& The Islands in Brooklyn), the flavours were delicious, balanced and fresh. Unfortunately you wont get that here.Chicken was tough and it looks great fresh but, after a few mins on the plate, the level of oil dripping off was too much. Flavour wise, too much and overpowering with a high level of salt in the curry.Unfortunately I wont come back but, Id highly recommend the chef to tone it down a bit and bring balance on flavor with lighter use of oil. Its a promising place with authentic food if it can tweak the dishes.

I have been eating from their stand at the Atwater Village farmers market since we moved there from Echo Park three years ago. Truly the best Caribbean food Ive had an LA, the family isnt Jamaican so dont make that assumption. Everything is fantastic. The oxtail is a real treat but the curries and jerk dishes are awesome, too. Try the pineapple tart and the cheese roll, get yourself a beef or turkey pattie and if you are a real head ask about bottles of the pepper sauce. They dont always have it but it is positively addictive. San Gabriel Valley is lucky to get this place at the food mall and all you foodies out there need to give this place a try!!!!

I tried their Jerk Chicken and it was absolutely amazing! It came with carribean styled rice topped with fried plantains, side of vegetable and one huge seasoned chicken leg. The chicken was heavily seasoned with carribean spices. The flavor of the chicken was so intense it were as if the spices made my taste buds dance around in my mouth. The fried plantains were crispy, yet tender, and sweet. The rice was a nice mix of spring onion, beans and other spices i couldnt quite make out. All in all, i would love to come here again !

It’s been about 7 long years since I’ve moved to California and in that time, I’ve been searching high and low for authentic Guyanese food and I’ve finally found it! I had the callaloo rice with fish cake, an order of Pholourie and a roti ~ just the smells alone took me back to my childhood and with my first bite, I almost cried. Brought back memories of cooking with great grandmother and aunties. Amazing flavor, right spices and everything cooked to perfection! They even had legit sour to go along with the pholourie. Wish I could rate this place 10 stars. Thank you so much for making this Dutch Guyanese man feel like a kid again.

I am from london and British born.Indian like India background family heritage.Los Angeles has got either very good quality food or very bad food.London is bad and mediocre food but has great Indian food.Anyway I love Jamaican food but it has to be real Jamaican authentic food,not a bit of grilled chicken with a pepper and hot sauce and called jerk chicken.This place here Caribbean gourmet is the best Caribbean food I’ve had on the west coast,it’s real authentic good portion sizes great tastes.I came here yday and I’m back tonite.The patties are mouth watering and the staff and price is the best.Don’t miss out get down to this place and make sure ur hungry,it will hold a place in ur heart and mouth!!!This is a review I done myself not with anyone asking me to and I’ve probably done 2/3 in my whole life I ain’t a “reviewer read or write” but I had to shout out this spot it brings the taste of the Jamaican authentic restaurants to Cali.It’s a life saver.Great Caribbean food.Jay from WEST london!
