Our guide David was fantastic! Hes passionate about Carlsbad and knows so much of the history. Hes also familiar with the food scene and had some great recommendations. We had a group of 16 and he organized it so that we were easily accommodated at every place and didnt feel like a big group. I recommend this as an activity for a larger group as it gave us all an opportunity to shuffle around and talk to different people throughout the evening.

What a fun tour. Kellie was a fantastic tour guide and great conversationalist. She shared so much about the history of Carlsbad as well as info on the owners of the places we visited. They focus on family owned establishments which was nice. Come to this tour hungry as we experienced lots of great food. Highly recommend this tour for a fun and filling and informative time.

My friend and I enjoy food tours when we travel, and this was no exception. Ben was our guide, and he did a great job telling us the history of the city and the art murals as we walked from restaurant to restaurant. We stopped at six venues for food tasting and ended with wine tasting at Witch Creek Winery and a fresh strawberry shortcake dessert. A great way to get to know a city and enjoy food tasting. Our tour ended as the Farmers Market on State Street opened.

My wife and I had a wonderful tour while visiting Carlsbad for the first time. Our food tour guide, David was great! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Carlsbad and gave us great suggestions for local restaurants. The tour included some great eating spots ranging from pasta, tacos, crepes and dessert. I would highly recommend this tour.

The Taste of Carlsbad Tour with friends on 9/26/23 was more than I expected. Not only were the restaurants wonderful, but some history of the area was included. Ben did a terrific job! It was a fun afternoon.

My husband and I enjoyed the Encinitas Food Tour so much yesterday! Ben was a fantastic host, so friendly and knowledgeable about the area. All the stops were an excellent choice. We loved the little stories Ben told along the way. I think I may dream about those fresh warm donuts! Thanks for a fantastic day, Ben! We HIGHLY recommend this tour. There are so many restaurants in Encinitas, its crazy how many options you have. Were already planning to hit up the bread place for another one of those sandwiches tomorrow. Holy cow, it was good!

I booked a private tour with my wife for her birthday. While the food and drinks were wonderful, our guide, David, was the highlight. Very knowledgeable about the history of Carlsbad, personable, and of course his knowledge of both the foods we experienced and other eateries in the Village. Although not on our tour, he was able to name his favorite ramen place, the best bolognese sauce, and his favorite breakfast joint. He was also able to identify some of the unique plants/trees during our walk. I personally believe that although many tourists enjoy these tours, that locals, like us, would benefit from them even more.

David was our guide and was incredibly knowledgeable and wow we learned so much Carlsbad Village history I had no idea about even though I’ve been coming here since I was a kid! We had Ben, our guide, all to ourselves. He was fantastic in relating the history of Carlsbad & weaving it into every place we stopped. The food was great & the history of Carlsbad was interesting. My only wish was that we had gotten to go to enjoy the Gnocchi & Gelato. Ben was most accommodating however & we were even able to enjoy more of the local food & drink (al a cart of course, & the margaritas are worth it). Thank you Ben for a beautifully professional job.

We live in nearby Del Mar, and I wanted to find a fun activity for my wifes birthday. Our experience in Carlsbad has mostly been limited to places along the 101, so this food tour was a very pleasant surprise -- turns out, Carlsbad has lots of really great places to eat! We had a great time learning more about the history of Carlsbad and eating a sampling of great foods. Cheri was a terrific tour guide. Highly recommended!

We went on the Carlsbad food tour for my mom’s birthday in March and Ben was amazing! He was extremely knowledgeable about the city, the food, and the companies. He mentioned that he would be starting a vegetarian and vegan plant-based tour tour in Encinitas soon. I am a vegetarian, so that was right up my alley (even though he accommodated me on the Carlsbad tour)! We just went on that one this past weekend and it was equally amazing! He was again very knowledgeable about Encinitas, the food, and the businesses. I will be going back with friends next time! My only recommendation would be to wear comfy walking shoes. 100% worth it, Ben is phenomenal.

Our office had great fun on this food tour and had six food stops (about half dessert, half savory). But easily the most enjoyable part of the tour was learning about the history of Carlsbad from our tour guide, David. He presented the story in such an engaging and well thought out manner, and covered so many interesting dimensions of Carlsbads historical uniqueness.In terms of logistics, both David (our tour guide) and Cherimarie (Carlsbad Food Tours contact) were responsive and professional - it was just an exceptional experience all around! Ed, aka Dirt, was the best guide ever. He has been a resident for 20 years and entertained us with stories of Carlsbad locations along with a running commentary on restaurants and his own interesting life as a stunt man. We had a great guide through the plant based food of Encinitas! Very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our time a lot. Expect delicious and unique but not the healthiest of foods on the vegan tour (2 of our locations ended up being desserts, one was a plate of fries, and another was a fried tofu roll) in addition to drinking some great local beers.

We loved this tour. Ben Mastracco was very engaging and will informed. He gave interesting facts and history about the city and the eateries as well as holding conversations with the guests. One of the cool things that I liked about this is Bens knowledge of food, nutrition, cooking, science and history. What a perfect combination for a food and wine tour guide. Plus he is always looking for more historical information and ways to improve the experience. The portions were surprisingly large compared to other food tours weve been on. And everything was quite tasty & ell worth price, imh. It was a relaxing pleasure from start to finish. (The only things I would add are asking at the time of reservation for any food allergies or intolerances, announcing bathroom breaks and giving each person a water bottle.) And the eye candy is just an added bonus! 😉
