We went without expectations because food close to national parks are rarely good, its main purpose in my opinion is to fill the stomach.Service here was really good. Servers were attentive. Outdoor seating is really nice and soothing.Food: Salsa that came with chips is either canned or jarred. May be a hint of some fresh tomatoes mixed.Fajita plate was advertised to have mushroom and Zucchini. My plate came with 3 slices of mushroom penny size, few sprinkles of Zucchini penny size, and remaining plate was filled with undercooked bell peppers and lots of onions. Veggies tasted fresh at least so that was good. Beans also tasted and felt canned texture.Veggie burrito was weird, it had everything from veggie fajita. Burrito wrap also tasted stale. Rice was also stale and dry.The problem is there arent many options around, so we might still end up here in future but Im hoping we are more prepared so we dont have to.

This is a gem near Sequoia National Park. We love the food (the menudo was amazing but definitely spicy if youre not used to the heat). Salsa and guac are solid. Highly recommend if youre nearby

Ordered steak burrito, shrimp enchiladas, carne asada fries, and tacos (fish and asada) with a side of two grilled jalapenos. Food portion is pretty reasonable and it tasted good. The food also came out pretty quick.I remember the salsa tasted really good. It tasted fresh and wasnt spicy.

Me and my husband went on a Tuesday night in August it was quite busy. The staff was attentive though. There is indoor or outdoor seating. Our waitress was busy so what seems like the manager came and took our order for her so it was nice to see that teamwork. Chips and salsa were included. We ordered a surf & turf burrito and a combo plate with a chicken taco and chicken enchilada. It took about 20-25 minutes to come out. Quality was good. We prefer this restaurant over the pizza factory which is one of the only other restaurants next door.

We went there after hectic day at NP. Our waitress was kind and funny. Made us feel welcomed. Food was excellent. Loved Salsa and guacamole. Our main dishes were flavorful and tasty. Their Chile Relleno was best though.

We love Mexican restaurants and have eaten at many. Casa Mendoza was by far the best one ever! The food was authentic Mexican,.The staff were all very courteous and friendly! If you are ever in the area, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Great tasting Mexican restaurant, convenient location, friendly service. Mid-June visit after a long day in Sequoia Natl. Large family, dine-in, outside dining. Service was a tad slow but very friendly and accommodating. Portions are huge and tasty! Everyone in our group enjoyed the meal!

What a gem to find! Very good Mexican food with excellent service. The place was clean, but homey. The tomatillo sauce was one of the best I’ve had. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but given the location and inflation rates it’s completely understandable. 100% satisfied with our experience here.

Three Rivers doesnt have a ton of eating options so was glad to find Mexican food that wasnt high-priced. Salsa/chips were fine. My chicken chimichanga was a good size. I would have preferred more spicy seasoning, but Im imagining the other clients might not. Refried beans were nice and tasted authentic. Our first server started out attentive but then disappeared. Also she didnt know anything about the premium beers, so I recommend going inside and pick your own. The Chardonnay was not good. A different server brought the bill and did not come back. We paid inside (which might be the protocol?). Sitting outside in late September was pleasant however the view of the distance foot hill is preceeded by a storage shipping container and garage containers.

This no-frills restaurant had everything you need to have a good experience. The hostess/proprietor was very friendly. The price was very reasonable and the portions were huge. Their homemade hot sauce is 🔥 if you can handle the heat. Great pit stop for a budget conscience traveler.

Excellent food, especially the chili verde enchiladas. The fajitas and quesadilla were so large my teens had enough for the next meal, too. The waitress, Lara, was impressive. She didnt write anything down, but remembered our 4 orders without mistake, even with all our modifications.

As a confessed Mexican food snob from Texas, Casa Mendoza really shined. Dont be fooled by the modest exterior, the food and service were both really fantastic. We had unanimous agreement amongst our party of 6 that the food was excellent-- and we eat really great tex-mex several times a month at home. Servers were super friendly and attentive as well. This restaurant really exceeded expectations, you will not be disappointed.

We just left this restaurant after spending a full day there n Sequoia National Park. The salsa was tasteless, the cheese dip was tasteless and even though I was hungry, I want going there eat calories on something that tasted so bad. The beef tacos were horrible. My husband said the hot tamale was dry and had no meat in it. The food we got really was the worst meal we have ever had as we have traveled all over the country!!!!

Wonderful people and great service. Went for Menudo but they were sold out; which is an indication of how good it is! The prices are very reasonable and the house Merlot was quite nice. They also have outside sitting that is not all crowded together~this is differently the place to go for Mexican Food. You wont regret it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the Flan was too sweet for my taste & the texture was a bit wrong for my mouth. Another nice note is that we never felt rushed even though they closed while we were still enjoying our meals & we were visiting.

I was pretty tired from hiking and driving back from Sequoia NP and noticed this restaurant after stopping in at the market next door. The food tasted great and the staff was really friendly. Priced reasonably as well. If I ever make it back I’ll be sure to pop in again.

After a long day of traveling, Casa Mendoza hit the spot! The salsa was delicious (but we wish they would’ve provided more than one small salsa for a group of 4 adults), the cheese dip was great, we all enjoyed our entrees, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We were a little surprised by the prices in comparison to other Mexican restaurants we have been to (and we’ve been to MANY)! Regardless, it was yummy and we were not disappointed!

Not just because we share a name do I feel this place deserves a 5 star rating., this place is such a breath of fresh air.. I love the outdoor dining since they are in Three Rivers its such a beautiful place to enjoy an amazing meal outdoors. Their food is wonderful and customer service was outstanding. I am not big on Mexican restaurant but this place is my favorite. Restaurant, Bathrooms and the entire business is clean and festive, and service is fast, polite, and great people.

Terrible service and food poisoning is a short summary of my experience.We went here for a dinner on a Sunday evening. Arrived around 6 pm and we were told theres half an hour wait for the table. Thats ok. After we were seated at a dirty table it took them another half an hour to get our order. After we placed the order the waiting started. We got our food after 1,5 hour of waiting. We ordered fiesta platter, carnitas and chicken with mole. We were sharing the dishes and all of us got the worst food poisoning afterwards. The restaurant did nothing about it and said noone else had any problems. I dont recommend.

I got food poisoning from here! I had an issue with the chicken juice in the burrito, and with the wet sauce the soggy texture was overwhelming, and SO salty. Within minutes, the tortilla was soggy, and the vegetables in my burrito were soggy. About half way through, I kept getting this taste like cleaning solution with every bite and after a little while, I just could not finish the food. Was up all night and missed work the next morning.

We stopped at Casa Mendoza en route to Sequoia National Park. We have 4 children and the staff were kind to accommodate our family in the outdoor shaded dining area. The staff were friendly and helpful. Portion sizes were large, the food was excellent, and the prices were reasonable. This was our favorite dinner of our 9-night vacation.

Stopped after a day in Sequoia National Park. It was really busy and told an hour and a half wait and it was after 7p and they close at 8p, could have turned us away (group of 8)and on a Sunday night not thinking we have much other success in the area. They set up an extra table for us and w shot got chips/salsa and drinks. Donielle came out to serve us and was spectacular, she helped us choose based on what she coming out of the kitchen. They closed to new customers shortly after seating us and we were served and done in less than than that hour and a half. Food was very good, would certainly recommend!

Great food. Big portions. Decent prices. They have real Mexican Coke in the bottle. Two thumbs up for that! I got the Flautas. My brother got the mole enchiladas. Dad got a loaded burrito. They dont skimp. The server was in the weeds though. Not a knock on her. 12 tables (us included) came in all at once. Be patient. Its worth it.

I ordered the mole sauce chicken enchiladas and they were very good. It came with rice and beans which were both cooked well. Some Mexican restaurants over-salt or over-fry their refried beans, but at Casa Mendoza they are not! Delicious food. We sat outside on the patio because there was outdoor-seating and a view to the mountains. I would come back again :)

Husband has never been so disappointed in his food in the 5 years weve been together. Service wasnt great, of course no one asked how the food was. Ordered torta, rice and beans. Ate there last night after leaving the national parks. We would have got up and left but the only other choice we had was pizza and didn’t want that so we decided to wait out the poor service, hoping for some tasty food at the end of it all. We waited a long time in the outside seating while two servers came inside and out for other tables without even acknowledging us. I had to go inside and ask to be served. We moved inside when a table opened up and there was still food laying on the table after being cleaned... later saw them just swiping a washcloth and pushing all the left over food on the floor from other tables. Also later saw the dish closet was right next to the bathrooms. Poor service all around, not clean and the food really was not worth it at all. We should have just ate pizza.

If I could I would give it a 0 star. The kitchen was DIRTY and sadly I saw that afterwards. The food was terrible; in no way this is Mexican food. Its an imitation of Mexican food. My daughters fries were still frozen and the funny thing is that some were also burnt so I dont know whats going on. The tables and seats were sticky. Oh and dont forget that the dishes are next to the bathroom. Overpriced and terrible.

Excellent dinner. We are from Tucson the Mexican capital of Az. I asked lots of questions after eating. The shredded beef in the chilichanga was actually Carne Seca (dried beef) and the beans were traditional but had flavors I remember from years ago. Salsa had a ingredient I could not pinpoint but yummy. The corn tortillas in my husbands enchiladas were so flavorful the tasted homemade. If I ever come here again I will definitely stop.

The worst was when I saw that, while preparing a burrito, the same chef was eating the meat from it and proceeding to prepare food. After After the waitress took our order, one of the biggest problems in this place started. Flies.. A-lot of them, there were about 5 or 4 flies around our desk only and even more of them was near the entrence. A boyfriend/friend/family member of one of the servers sat at the bar with his mask around his chin. The portion sizes here are enormous!! The burritos should be shared. I love to order the Don Tobias burrito with steak and no lettuce. (Its the closest I can get to a carne asada burrito I usually order in LA.) The burritos are generous with all the ingredients and very satisfying, but a bit under seasoned for my tasted. One of the best things about living in - or visiting - Three Rivers is Casa Mendoza!Veronica, the owner, is sweet as can be; I spent a few Black Fridays sitting in a booth on Casa Mendozas internet (always will advance permission, and ALWAYS kicking a $10 or $20 to my favorite waitress, Jackie!)And shed always make me MAKE HER take it, because I always just had iced tea for 3 hours.Jackie kept me coming back to Casa Mendoza as much as Veronicas OUTSTANDING Chile Verde (just like my beloved grandfather [RIP Honey] used to make!) and Chile Colorado did! Also Leah - always so kind.I miss Casa Mendoza like I miss the sound of the rivers rushing through the night. Thanks Veronica, Jackie, Leah & staff!
