This hotel is in a great location. And even though it’s next to RRx the noise level is not bad. Definitely would recommend to family and friends
It was beautiful inside and out, room was spacious and was comfortable and clean - I’ll definitely stay at this hotel again.
The hotel has nice, large, clean rooms, but at almost $200 a night one would expect a micro wave in the rooms or at least one that could be used on property. Also, Choice is known for having breakfast available but again, at almost $200, nothing was offered.
Suite was a good size. Very clean! Conveniently located near the beach with stores and fast food, restaurants, Ross near by.
The Casa Via Mar is a modern hotel in historic architecture. The mature landscape is a lovely contrast to the high tech interiors. What, no carpet? Unheard of, right? The edgy neo-vinyl floors add interest to the very modern lighting and color palette. The beds are comfy. USB ports are everywhere. Staff was friendly and efficient. We appreciated the recommendation for eateries nearby. We liked that we could walk to several small restaurants. We were on the ground floor. Would stay here again.
Immaculate rooms - like deep cleaned! Nice employees. There is no place for kids to run around or make noise, sooooo its perfect.

My wife and I read all the negative and positive reviews, we decided to stay here and were glad we did. Nancy the assistant manager was the most courteous and attentive person. We did not expect breakfast since we did notice they had been remodeling but did make sure to request extra towels and received them no problem. The pool was wonderful and the kids loved it, we are also fairly close to the beach and a great park for the kids. All in all it was a great stay, only thing is the floors do get dirty because they are textured wood floors and you must ask them to give them a second cleaning. A possible mistake made when remodeling the hotel, either way we will stay here again. Thank you
Excellent customer service! The front desk staff were so friendly and professional. You can really tell she is one of a kind. The rooms are very modern and large. We got a double queen room and were extremely impressed by what we got. Clean, stocked, and very nice! I would recommend this hotel to anyone in town. There is a good breakfast spot in the next shopping mall called Roxys.
This location was amazing the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was nice and clean and was handicap and wheelchair accessible with wider doorways, spacious room, grab bars in the restroom and shower and even a roll in borderless shower so my wheelchair rolled right in and I didnt have to try and hop into a tub. Beds were clean and comfortable and even had a little K-cup coffee maker in the room with a few options for coffee flavors or tea and condiments right in the room. Mini fridge and safe to store your expensive items in. Definitely recommend this location it has plenty and I mean PLENTY of accommodating stores and restaurants within walking distance, including within the same plaza. Definitely will return here next trip out loved it.

We used to come to this hotel when our unit was sent to the near-by base. Once my husband and I got married, and we started taking road trips, we would stay here when in the area just to relive old times. It has been 20 years and I decided to bring our son to stay here on our quick trip. The outside was just as I remembered, but the inside was all updated and relaxing. The hotel is very clean, the staff is nice, and the area feels comfortable. I am happy there is this affordable option in this area.
Floors were extremely dirty, it does not look like they have ever been cleaned. Sheets were full of hairs !! They only allow you 2 towels in total, coffee and coffee machine were a total dud. Jacuzzi was extremely dirty. Rooms have no microwaves.Positives: beds were comfortable and pool was really nice and clean.

At least sections of the Casa Via del Mar have been updated with new windows, new flooring, and modernized bathroom. The room we stayed in was wheelchair accessible and even a wheelchair could have been wheeled right into the shower stall. The bed was very comfortable and easy to get in to and the property was very quiet even though the motel faces on a busy highway.
Everything was very clean parking wasnt geeat,room was nice the only thing that looked out of place in the room was the dated heat and air.
We were a bit skeptical about this place after reading the reviews but very shocked with how big our room was as well as clean, the recipient’s upgraded our good free of charge and made our weekend better, very clean, quiet and remodeled, definitely would stay here if ever in town.

Pictures online are great but don’t necessarily meet expectations once you arrive and get in your room. For almost $200/night, I don’t expect to find old stained towels you question if they are clean or not and have to deal with a neighbor smoking pot and coming through our patio door. Beds were decent and internet allowed us to stream movies. Plus the McDonald’s across the train tracks had a working ice cream machine! Overall 5/10, seemed like staff didn’t necessarily care about the place after putting money into a renovation.
Dont believe the negative reviews (if theyre older). My understanding is the place recently underwent a renovation, and my stay was great! Staff was friendly, room was very clean and had great amenities. All the appliances etc were very new in the room, even had a fast wireless charging port in my room which was neat! The room I was in looked exactly as pictured. Only complaint Id have, is it was right next to the road and we could hear traffic all night (but it was drowned out with the AC on).However I dont find that a fault of the hotel, and we were at the corner unit, at the intersection. Other rooms may not have this issue.A bit pricey, but compared to other rooms in the area it was priced well.TLDR: very nice room, would stay again!
Recently remodeled with an Old Spanish Charm. Nestled perfectly in an eclectic area which includes amazing authentic Mexican food, great margaritas and close to all your shopping needs, as well as minutes from the beach and Port. One of my favorites, the kicked the carpet and have all tile floors in the rooms. The staff is professional, friendly, quick to respond and makes Star Trek references. Thank you Nancy for making this a pleasant stay.

The hotel location is good, close to the harbor. The bed was comfortable. The floors could be cleaned more often, do not walk around barefoot, my feet were black after walking in the floor for 30 min. They also did not have an iron or ironing board.
We stayed for 2 nights. It is beautifully decorated. Fresh, very clean, quiet, close to shops & restaurants. Comfy & the rooms were larger than we had expected. The staff was helpful & friendly. We appreciated the safe in the room. Also, very clever & unique bed side book lights that i now must have.The only thing we needed that wasnt there was a microwave. Also, Because of Covid 19, The pool was closed & no continental breakfasts. I highly recommend this motel & hopefully we will be returning one day.
I was there in January and I have reservations again for this week. The room looked exactly like the website photos. I found it to be well taken care of and clean. I enjoyed the bright colors instead of the usual drab “earth tone” colors. I wandered around the gym. I didn’t use the pool but I plan to do both on my next stay

Stayed here for a week while in town for work. Had the horrifying experience of a Motel 6 a few minutes away as a reference for area. Clean rooms, comfortable and large beds, recently renovated interior. Felt very chic and modern. Large TV with a number of connections available. Front staff was very nice, willing to listen to concerns. Was originally in a room that had a faint smoke odor, possibly a smoking room converted to non smoking. They switched my room with no hassle and promptly. Call for best rate. Back of house, I found respectful as well. During my stay, I was provided with fresh towels and clean sheets. I frequently left items on the desk or sink and never saw them moved.Would stay again if I was in the area.p.s. there is a limited amount of rooms with balconies. the view isnt amazing, but the aesthetic is nice.
This was a great hotel! Centrally located, easy to get to. Recently has been remodeled and looks great! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.
WORTH THE STAYThs hotel is a place in Ventura you should stay. Beds were fabulous. The room had plenty of space for all your things. It is clean and we felt safe. The pool was nice. The pool was not heated, they had a problem with it. However, it was very clean and did not stop us from tanning there. There is a fridge and coffee but no microwave. Staff was friendly. We added days to our stay and they worked to get us the same room. Very accommodating.The only thing that was an issue was the front desk staff was often unavailable. I called about towels and it ran 19 times before being answered. We would go in to talk to them and had to wait awhile for someone to get to the office.
Nice rooms but that doesnt matter because everything was dirty. Floor and sheets had hair. AC had mold, coffee machine was a dud. They only gave you 2 towels so make sure to only shower once your entire stay and share your towels.
Everything was great! The rooms are so modern, clean, and lots of electronic plug-ins and chargers all over. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The location was great for us as we had an early morning cruise the next day. The pool and fitness center were not completed yet during our stay. Definitely recommend.

Overall great place to stay. I had a room in the back facing the pool. It was recently remodeled, with a comfortable bed, a really nice bathroom and a nice big TV. I like that they have vinyl plank flooring and not carpet, but my only issue was my feet got dirty walking around after my shower. Housekeeping needs to hit that with a mop a little more often.
Excellent customer service! Nicki is amazing! We had a large group of motorcycle riders stay. Nicki was very accommodating and remembered me. Plus we had a medical emergency and the hotel staff went out of their way to insure the guests were accommodated. Great job! We can’t thank you enough!

The rooms have been updated and are very clean, comfortable and modern looking. Easy check in and friendly staff. Only down side the shower door would not stay closed so water go onto the floor. The roller bar the door hangs on just needs to be reinstalled at a bit of an angle to keep the door shut.
Was very nice and updated. Room was cold but the blankets were heavy enough to keep us warm which never happens. Balcony was spacious. Shower was very nice bed was big. I was pretty satisfied:)
Im a simple man. I like hotel beds and a quiet stay and thats what you get with Casa Via Del Mar. At least in room 205 you do. The room is decorated great, the beds are very comfortable, and its really peaceful in the morning.You wont have a microwave in the room which is unfortunate; And the balcony is nothing to write home about either, but the shower, tv, internet, beds and space is great. Plus there are plenty of stores and restaurants in walking distance
Exceeded expectations for the price. Staff was great, micro/coffee in room, but no microwave. Newly renovated and clean, but still needs a little tweaking, some of the finer details seemed overlooked. Safe neighborhood- rolls up the sidewalk early, even on weekend, so you’re kinda isolated later at night. Not walking distance, but short drive to several beaches. Patio with seating was nice- noise from road(s) not so nice.
Check-in was super easy and fast. The new rooms are bright and colorful, I love them! There are neat details that I appreciated like the clear door on the fridge, wall art reflecting the agricultural heritage of the area, a drain hole on the soap tray in the shower and different textures and colors (but not overwhelming or clashing). The new rooms feel fresh and open.
This stay was a rollercoaster of emotion. When I first got there, the overall exterior look is quite dingy and I was panicking inside. After checking in and saw my room I felt a sense of relief as the room is very nice and modern. Looks like it’s newly renovated.Unfortunately that feeling did not last very long. The moment I stepped into the shower, I could see black footprints from my feet. I thought it was due to my sandal wearing all day. But when I re-enter the bathroom again later on and stepped on the bath mat, it was clear to me that the room floor was FILTHY. It was disgusting. I then also checked every surface before putting any of my belongings on top and surely enough, the shelves were dusty.Overall, I’m giving it 1 star only because the interior is nice and bed is comfortable. Otherwise, I would give it 0 star if I could because I sure don’t believe their claim of every room being sanitized.
DONT COME TO THIS PLACE! Total rip off! My daughter lives in the area (I was visiting frm L.A) and she came to my hotel room to bring me breakfast and say good bye to me as I was checking out and going back home. She happen to bring her dog with her and we were all visiting inside the room when a very rude Hispanic woman frm the front desk came in to “inspect” for any damages etc in order to give us our $150 deposit back. Well as soon as she saw my daughters dog she immediately said that there was no pets allowed and we told her that my daughter just came to bring us breakfast she and her dog had only been there not even 5min and were leaving. The rude lady’s attitude instantly changed! She started walking around the room said that it smelt like dog (but my daughters dog is an indoor dog very clean short hair and doesn’t smell at all in fact the dog is very pampered and spoiled) and just was looking for any excuse to keep our deposit. I asked her how does the room smell like dog when the dog has only been here 5 min? Really? If anything it smelled like food! Then she left and said she’ll be back to do a more thorough inspection after everyone is out of the room. When she came back she said that one of the comforters on the bed was dirty and she assumes it was frm the dog again, not true we stayed in that room 3 days 2 nights swimming eating going in and out that’s normal. We argued with her abt that she refused to listen or talk with us instead she walked away rolled her eyes at us and said we were not getting our deposit back. My husband was upset I was upset because her attitude was so unprofessional she was being ridiculous with her claims of “dog smell” and there were absolutely no damages or anything used or missing frm the room. She simply just wanted to keep the deposit! As we’re walking out of the room my husband kind of slammed the door and the woman turned around and yelled at my husband, “You want me to call the police!” And I’m standing there and said, “For what? For shutting the door? Why would you waste the police’s time for that? That’s ridiculous lady” she turned to me and said “Yes! For that and also because your husband pushed me!” OMG! I can’t believe that this woman lied like that! I was standing there the whole time! Not once did my husband physically touch her! Then she says, “ And You will be put on our Do Not Return list! So have a good day!” And walked away. Now, I am ready to go all the way with this lady and this hotel establishment legally. I’m contacting a lawyer right away. I would’ve easily given up my deposit IF there was a legit reason(s). But because of her attitude, her unprofessionalism and flat out rudeness, I will pursue this issue until it is corrected.
Casa Via Mar Inn has been our go to for beach stays in Oxnard. Great service with rooms and customer service in general. Cleanliness is on point and it’s always a pleasant stay.
Very nice place to stay. Rooms were cleaned daily. No breakfast like the website says. I will say bring your own bath towels. We had 4 people in one room and were only given 2 towels. We were told they were short on towels. Asked housekeeping and were told only 2 towels per room or the other guests wouldnt get any. We were told to go to the office for more towls, and even then the front desk had to locate towls. Housekeeping said the owners wouldnt buy more so they had to ration them for all the guests. Stayed 2 weeks and we were constantly hunting for towls. Even if we tried to use them for 2 days in a row housekeeping would come and take them and then return only 2 towls. Other than that no issues with the stay.
Reasonable price, good service, noisy environment (street traffic) free parking. Too cold for pool use. Simple, simple decor.
Place is very clean . The rooms are very nice . The staff are friendly. I came out here for work and stayed here . I would give it a 5 star rating but the only bad side to this is that the rooms do not have a microwave. They have a mini fridge. But no microwave. That sucks because u cant heat up food or snacks . U have to walk all the way to the front desk Which is very unconvenient. Hopefully in the future they will add microwaves to the rooms. Other then that nice and clean places to stay .
I booked the room a month in advance at a rate of $160/night. I was ultimately charged $200/night. The hotel room smelled. I was offered another room that also smelled. I was charged a $50 fee after checking out. Overall, I was very unhappy with my stay and the lack of response to my inquiries about the fee charged to my credit card and the room rate.
Wasnt sure what to expect because pictures show an older hotel. Was pleasantly surprised with the room. It was clean, updated and HUGE. Will stay here everytime we are in the area.
I would recommend considering staying at a different property.Pros: Furniture is modernCons: No included free breakfast as promised. Hot tub renovation on the website says its supposed to be completed by 9/30/2021 but as of 11/9/21 it has yet to be completed. Sheets and pillowcases were not changed in our room and we found hair and stains on the sheets and top cover. Whenever we or our neighbors flushed the toilet, very foul and smelly dirty water would come up out of the sink drain.
Hotel looks nice on the outside and has nice modern decor on the inside. Front desk service very friendly and accommodating. Too bad the room was dirty. Food crumbs and hair all over the place. Towels and bed sheets dirty & stained.
I booked a BUNCH of rooms here in July for a group of 12 and we just LOVED it!! Assistant Manager, Nancy, was SO kind & helpful in getting us all checked in & checked out! Our rooms were spotless. Major THANKS to an outstanding cleaning crew! (Not even a single hair in the shower!) We loved the modern amenities - including room safes & more USB ports & charging cords than we could use.Our only disappointments were that the entire pool area & fitness center were closed (renovations), & currently there is no breakfast at all. It would sure help if this hotel would update the status of those amenities on their websites, as it led to great disappointment among my group members. Fortunately, theres a McDonalds across the street & a Dennys just a couple of blocks away.The location is AWESOME! The big screen TVs much appreciated, and Ill give this place a FIVE-Star review once ALL their advertised amenities are available to guests again. ;-)July 2022 UPDATE:The pool, jacuzzi, & Fitness Center are all OPEN!! YAY! Check with front desk, but I think they stay open until 9:00 PM. What an added BONUS to your stay here! I love that you can workout with a view of the pool area, and youve got 3 different machines + all kinds of hand weights to choose from - all in a bright, well-lit, A/Cd room by the pool. Just wish they would resume serving breakfast again, like so many Choice hotels (& esp. the Ascend Collection) are known for!
Not worth the money, there’s a huge gap in the barn door on the bathroom, not ideal for couples especially when you eat at the cantina next door on the first night of a three day trip… couldn’t sleep with the mechanical tapping inside the wall, not sure what’s that about.
This hotel is modern, updated, and very spacious. The only downfall was that the floors were obviously dirty. Our feet were black walking in them for only a bit. Make sure you take flip flops or slippers. (Everything else was very clean)Great location, will return next year!
I was pleasantly surprised by this little motel. We requested a quieter room so they put us upstairs. The room was very spacious and had a small kitchenette (microwave, sink, coffee maker, plates and utensils). The room was clean and functional. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. There was no dishwashing detergent or sponge and the hand soap was very weak. If the bedding could be upgraded, it would be perfect.The best thing is the free breakfast buffet located on the second floor by the pool. They provide cereal, milk, bread, either sausage or bacon and juice/tea. Also, you can make your own waffles! The waffle machine is awesome. Theyre supposed to be open 6 am to 10 am on weekends but when we went at 610 am one morning, it was closed because staff had called in sick. That was a little disappointing. The pool and hot tub were nice and we saw people playing tennis on their 6 courts. (You can check out equipment from the front desk)We had to cut our 3 night stay short because my husband injured his ankle and was in a lot of pain. I wish the staff had made an exception and refunded us one night since it was clearly a medical issue thats forcing us to leave.
Very Nice Staff - My Reservations was done over the phone. That was pleasant. Price between Phone and Via Computer was minimal. Time to check in - All notes were noted that had been discussed over the phone reservation. No need to repeat yourself. The Accommodations for ADA Wheelchair was great. No Complaints necessary.
This hotel was fairly nice. I cant say it was quiet as I stood in a room next to the plaza next door. There was a cannabis shop next door that was apparently pretty busy with people passing through most of the day. Was kind of distracting to get work done, but room was aesthetically nice.Prices were good for this area. Overall okay experience. There is a shopping center within walking distance and a marina area ( Channel Islands Harbor) Oxnard park is just a few blocks away as well.
Starting from check in to check out. The service was fantastic. The room was super clean, and probably nicer than we expected. Being from out of town. The front desk even advised us on a place for a great lunch.
I dont leave alot of reviews. But I felt like I should help out.The inside is nice. Due to covid theres no breakfast right now (10/2021) so I wish the safe was a microwave, but thats okay. I appreciated the wireless charging pad and the reading light by the bed. More hotels need to have those.
I found this location on the Choice app. Area looked like what I was looking for. I was able to park my semi tractor in a locked, secured area, and the room was very comfortable too. Excellent hospitality by all staff encountered. I would recommend here, especially if you play tennis. Its kind of a tennis resort.
This hotel was better than we expected. It was very clean. Great bed and towels. Wi-Fi was good and had lots of modern touches.
So let me start on this was one of Hotwires recommendations and Ive used them for awhile. But for some reason most of the hotels were booked in the area. My first problem was seeing a roach in this oh so wonderful renovated room. I contacted the front desk and all they said was they can have housekeeping come do a deep clean. Wouldnt move my room either due to alot of upstairs noise. I paid over $300 for 2 nights. Ridiculous and not worth it at all!!
He threw a trashcan at me - Front desk attendant before promptly barging into my room and cancelling my week-long reservation within seven minutes of arrival.He stole pillows - Front desk attendant, again.I moved a trashcan outside and put my backpack on my bed. They tried to steal my gold member Expedia points... Thanks for the refund Expedia 👍🏿Update in response to reply from the owner -5/11/2022You took over $1,600 from me after charging my card for a week long stay - including Expedia points that you knew would be difficult to recover.I offered to go to the local atm for the deposit but you stated that you wanted to make another copy of my valid ID; which you already had.If my debit card worked for that long of a stay, dont you think I would be prepared to put down an appropriate security deposit?Putting a trash can outside within a minute of arrival to clean the place up (bed bug complaints 🤢) does not constitute as not caring for hotel property.Do you or do you not recall exaggerating a set down trash can as throwing it at me or pillows off the bed as stealing them?If anything you committed the assault and battery by barging into my room, attempting to grab my things, and shove me out the door before I could even set down my backpack.Blatant bad business and fraudulent practice.Did you just not think I would follow through on getting my refund after this clear sign of disrespect?
A decent enough hotel that had what we were looking for: easy access to the beach, a kitchenette, and low rates. Casa Via Mar served all three. However, the big negative is that the rooms are in dire need of a remodel. While the rooms are very clean, the beds, sheets, rugs, furniture, bath and kitchen fixtures are very old. There is even a musty smell because everything is so aged. That bring said, hotel management did mention a remodel of the rooms is coming up, so that is a good sign. Speaking of management, I must mention that they are pleasant, accommodating, and professional. Especially Erik who went above and beyond with great customer service. With a the remodel, Casa Via Mar would be an easy 4.
This place has so much potential! Stayed here two years in a row before going on Island Packers trips and hoped they had updated the motel since management mentioned it would happen before too long. Not sure if I would stay here again until updating happens since I feel like Im stepping back in time to my childhood in the 80s. The sliding door to the balcony didnt work right and the bathroom didnt seem all that clean. Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly at least.
The hotel was clean and exactly like the pics. I stayed on the first floor and it was not too noisy and very comfortable. Nancy and her staff at the front desk and in housekeeping were fantastic. I will be back.
If I could give zero stars I would. The office smelled like Marijuana, we paid for a NON-smoking room only to be given a SMOKING room! This wouldnt be an issue if our child didnt have severe asthma. They put us in unit 200 and when we were walking to the room a man came out of unit 200 and walked into 201. I brought this up to the front desk personnel and she acted like a complete idiot. While arguing that it is not safe to stay in room 200 because someone else has access to it, another guest came in and stated they had dirty sheets. The woman handed them 1 sheet and said that was all she could do. The manager also never responded after asking to speak to him several times. We used to love this place its so sad it has gotten this bad! I also have a booking schedule here in July that I have now canceled.
Staff is very nice and presentable. Outside has a nice rustic look. It is close to the beach, the base, and restaurants. Inside the Hotel room is very dark and outdated. Room smells musky like old damp carpet mixed with a hint of bleach. There were gnats flying around. Dining table was crumbling to the touch-barely grazed my thighs on the bottom and was getting sawdust on my pants. Bed was firm, but the bedding made me itch. Definitely need to get rid of the carpet and upgrade/update the furnishings. Bathroom needs an overhaul as well.
Rooms are big and spacious. The AC works. Oxnard has limited options so this was our best affordable option. No bed bugs or anything like that. That was our main concern. The room was clean! Nancy is a great host.

Came and stayed to get out the of heat in September for my birthday room, pool and breakfast were great! As usual. We had a good time!Now just HAD TO COME BACK!!! THIS PLACE IS SO QUAINT AND QUIET! THE BREAKFAST LACKS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND YOU WONT FIND ANOTHER SWIMMING POOL TO MATCH THE ONE HERE!The Staff is very friendly and provides you with great hands on service. The Hotel is so pretty and still charming. I would recommend Casa via Mar to everyone.
Great place to stay!!! We originally had booked just one night but after jumping in the heated very clean pool we booked a second night. The small kitchen is perfect saves money on going out to eat. Kid friendly and rooms are pretty big for size that we all have our own space. The service front desk employees are awesome answered every question. We are coming back this summer great rates!!
I really loved this place, im not a new customer to the Casa via mar hotel actually i have known of & have stayed at this hotel since i was a young child withmy parents.... So my most recent visit & over night stay here was very nice to say the least. The upgrades they have done to this hotel are just wonderful!! They rooms are very spacious; even LARGE compared to the other hotels & motels in and around the same area, its location isnt to bad, its right on the main road but most of the rooms are far enough in that the noise from the traffic doesnt bother me at least.... its a really GREAT VALUE FOR THE PRICE over all ‼️
The hotel looks decent, but was loud and dirty. That being said, the room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable.
It was horribly run down and out dated. The carpets were nasty and soiled with huge dark spots. The furniture torn. Mold in the shower. Bedspread stained. We were afraid to sit or even lay down. The night clerk changed our room and suggested we speak with management in the morning. While the new room was better, we still didnt feel safe enough to just lay on the linens so we slept with the blankets we traveled with on top of the beds.Management was very apologetic. He explained that the Inn had been purchased by a new owner and was under renovations. He assured us by April next year everything would be completed. He couldnt offer a refund because my daughter booked through Hotwire. He said if shed paid him directly he would have definitely given her if not a full refund, a huge discount.I am very sure this will be a beautiful place once its completed in April 2020. So it will have much better reviews. I plan on giving them a try next summer when I come back to visit my daughter who is stationed there.
I have stayed at Casa Via Mar many times but I hadnt stayed there in quite a long time. I was pleasantly surprised to see all of the updantes and changes made to the rooms in all areas! And Im so happy its still the best deal around!
Find another place to stay, check in time was 3 pm. We arrived at 323 pm and were told the room was not ready. Finally got into the room at 5pm, we had a function at 6pm thatextra,, its on my credit card evening, booked for 4 adults. Only 2 towels in the room, just got my bill and was charged 150.00 extra claiming damage, there was no damage, now I have to file a dispute with my credit card company.DO NOT STAY HERE
Ive been traveling for about a month, and checked into the hotel during a visit with my daughter. We were having lunch at the Mexican restaurant next door, and checked the hotel out on a whim.I was very pleasantly surprised at the look of the room. Everything was new and upscale. It was down the street from the marinara, where they live, which is a plus
Last minute booking. Friendly, helpful staff. Outdated and dark large rooms. Seemed clean. The grounds are well maintained with gardens surrounding. Continental breakfast was decent, plenty to choose from, including a waffle machine. But everything is served in or on disposable plastic - again, outdated.
Looks nothing like the pictures online. The comforter and sheets were filthy. The floor was filthy. It made our feet BLACK. Behind the beds were covered in dust and dead bed bugs. Oh, yeah they had bed bugs. The bathroom had black mold. The breakfast made us sick. Dont go here. It is obvious they paid people for good reviews.
We a had a great experience, I would have given 5 stars but they made us wait like 20 min to check in (it was cold at night, we could not go inside the lobby due COVID 19 restrictions) and the water in the shower was “warm” not “hot”,it was about 60F outside and windy a hot shower would have been perfect. Staff was friendly, I needed a shower cap and make remover wipes, I got the shower cap and I soap instead of make up remover, that’s fine.
The casa via mar condition is terrible. actually i say this is lower standard than a motel. i went in the room and its smell so bad. when i open the coffee maker the coffee bag still in the filter and looks disgusting. In the room everything are old. The bed light is broken and cabinet in the wash room is broken too. Overpriced! Very terrible experience! Zero investment for upgrading and maintenance!
Rooms are nice as are the staff. The room we had was literally next to railroad tracks and close to the road where you could hear the traffic. Got a loud wake up call from the train this morning. Other than the noise, the stay here was nice.
The motel is cute from the outside but the interiors need modernizing. The colors are too dark, the lighting too dim, and the linens feel cheap and scratchy . I dont think these rooms have been updated since the 80s. For the rates they are charging, its definitely NOT a good value. In addition to the inflated rates, the WiFi is useless. Add insult to injury and we currently have not been able to check out and have been waiting over 2 HOURS because their front desk computer went down. What a nightmare - Hotel California, you can never leave! They also want to charge us for a second night that we did not want to stay for! This is the worst! The one star is for the exterior decor.
I so wish I could give this place ZERO stars! It is filthy, carpet and fixtures are at least 40 years old and many things in our room did not even work. The carpet was unattached in many places, including the threshold between the bathroom and the hallway. Our king sized bed was a double affixed to a king headboard, the oven door didnt close and the stove burners were such that I was afraid to turn it on. The bathtub was so old and stained...and the wifi is not secure although they tell you it is. And the breakfast items were cold and the attendant said they have not had coffee in 2 weeks. I could go in and on....Please see the pictures attached
Credit to the Ascend brand of Choice Hotel’s brand family. I’m continually impressed by the pleasant surprises they offer within this flagged brand.This property was hip and modern on the inside, and California ‘50’s rancho themed motel on the outside.Fun and VERY functional.
Its clean, somewhat spacious, nothing fancy, very average motel. Staff is friendly, they have free breakfast that is good if youre homeless and have to steal food for the day.Next room had a difficult time communicating with each other cuz all I heard was them screaming and sounds of doors and any objects not nailed down flying across the room. I was scared to ask them to keep it down, because a group of Mexicans with short hair dressed rather fashionably kept going in and out. TV remote didnt work properly so they lost a star for that. You cant get between a man and his remote, you would think they would know that. Hotel theme was the 70s. Everything polyester with striped prints. I personally thought it was kool. Ive stayed there multiple times and I wouldnt of stayed multiple times if it was not good. Rate is fair, location is very good. Next to liquor store and MC Donalds. If you play tennis, its a must. Ill be going back for sure.
This is an older motel. However, our room was clean and seemed to be well maintained. They offer a big complimentary breakfast, which was a nice surprise since we didnt pay that much for our room. The motel employees are extremely friendly and were a great help to me on my travels.
We ended up checking out early due to finding 3 cockroaches in our room and the Room smelled musty. Currently waiting to get our refund back for the night we didnt stay.
This was a nice for the price. 4ppl. It was a nice surprise that the 1/2 kitchen had dishes & utensils. Lil fridge & microwave included. Not only did the room have a hair dryer. It had an iron with an ironing board!! The free breakfast was a nice bonus. The only con was the windows dont open.
Casa via Mar has upgraded their hotel and now they truly are the best bang for your buck in the area. Plenty of choices for dining and shopping within walking distance to this charming, inn close to the ocean. Their ADA access rooms are superior; the roll-in showers are beautiful. Stay at the Casa via Mar; you’ll be thrilled with your choice!
Beds were a bit soft for me. Shower water pressure was low and couldnt turn temperature cooler without a significant pressure decrease. Floors were swept but not clean...barefoot feet were black after being in room.
Very pleasant stay and affordable. First time staying here and Ive gotta if I had to come back to this area I would look to see if this motel has any rooms first. To start off you cant beat the price I paid $95 out the door which included free breakfast. That right saved my about $20 give or take for me and my wife to go eat. The rooms are clean with air conditioning. Ive stayed at other motels that had the same rate, no free breakfast, you can never get a hold of anyone that works there, and for those places you dont even see actual cleaning people which makeshould you wonder if the rooms are even cleaned. This placed had a dedicated cleaning staff. Like I said for the price, I feel I got my monies worth and would recommend this motel.
First room had beds not made and broken refrigerator. Called front desk immediately. They moved and upgraded our room however second room was also questionable. Shower had pubic hair in tub and dirty hair from previous tenant. Towel had long blond hair fold into clean towel. My first impression stay did not resonate well. Pictures show pubic and dirty hair found in bathroom.
Was a very great stay. The only thing is that the maid walked into my room even though I told her multiple times I was in there.
This was a nice place to stay. Several amenities were out of order and we needed to ask for more than two towels, twice. Service was very responsive and friendly.

From outside it looks good but inside the room smelled like dust, the bed sheets were dirty and so were the carpets, my sister who was bearfoot had her feet black from how dirty the carpet was. The shower was cracking and the pool was very dirty. I even got bit by a bug in the night the only thing decent is the location. And their fridge doesnt work, they also throw their old things such as chairs and tables at the tennis courts which are also dirty
The manager Nancy was awesome! We had booked through a third party website and we had problems. Nancy was on the phone right away for an hour! We got a great room and were taken care of! Thank you Nancy!
This is one of the worst places Ive ever been.We must have upset the staff the very second we arrived. They put us in a downstairs room (CEILING STOMPERS!) with an exposed carpet track strip (OW!), with stairs attached to the bedroom wall (NO SLEEP!), vending machines and ice machine also on bedroom wall (TRAFFIC!), big spiders above the front door in a web that had clearly been there a long time (WELCOME HOME!), and black mold on the shower ceiling (DYING TIME!). The first four pics are from the first room. The second day we complained about the tacks and stairs so they prepped a different room for us three doors down. When we mentioned the black mold, we somehow got the high end suite with the kitchenette. That had its own issues but at least we finally scored a microwave. Oh, and that room also had black mold in the shower but at least it wasnt threatening to fall on our heads. These people really need to discover bleach. The last pic is from the second upgraded room.We wont be back unless we start having respiratory issues.
Stayed here last minute a few months ago and have come back many times since. Rooms are bigger than most and the 70s vibe doesnt feel old but retro. Have never had noisy neighbors or any disturbances after dark. Always spotless and have one or two hot items in the included breakfast.

Recently remodeled. Wood grain laminate floors. Spacious. Clean uncluttered furnishings. Pool and continental breakfast were still closed due to COVID at least ti end of summer 21.
DO NOT STAY HERE, especially in Room 130. Im insulted they booked me at $132 a night in the Crackhead Special flophouse room. I did not stay. Still waiting for my full refund. Room is grossly filthy and smells hideous. Carpet is wet; I slipped on bathroom tile and was wearing my work shoes with non-skid soles. Phone is from 1970 and is missing all buttons except 0 through 9 and you have to hold the cord in the handset to stay connected. Bedspreads are from 1960 and are disgusting. Dont even look in the corners of the closet area; you will be grossed out by the layer of crud. No Kleenex, no pictures (just big bolts) on wall, drapes were old and dirty. No doormats at any rooms; just black smeary spots on concrete. No pots in the built-in wrought iron planters lining the walkway except one with garbage in it. When I checked out (right after I checked in) I was told theyd be able to rent the room for 50 bucks to a drunk who needs to sleep it off. WHO SAYS THAT???If I could give negative stars I would.
I left you guys a shining review just five months ago...but since then weve had an incident that has changed my mind about the staff at least. I have a friend who came to town and I had suggested they get a room with you, she invited us over to go for a swim since it was hot out, we pulled into the parking lot and immediately were followed to the pool area and told we must leave or he would call the police...i explained that we were there to visit a friend who was staying there...this man, (Im assuming the.owner) got super irate and started cussing and yelling at us and writing my license plate number down....i have spent quite a bit of money at this hotel and couldnt even get some common courtesy...i will NEVER, EVER spend a dime or refer anyone else there again,theres a comparable hotel right up channel islands road that has same prices and COURTEOUS staff.

Clean rooms, friendly staff. Staff never bothered us while we were there. When they saw us outside they asked if we needed anything for our room. Assistant manager went above and beyond for us! Will definitely stay there again.
The rooms are totally overpriced. I had to use a towel to step in the bathtub for it was so dirty. The landscape are dried weeds and garbage. I went to the front desk to complain and had to deal with an employee that did not seem to have any customer service training. I had a very bad and sour experience.I will recommend this motel to no-one.
Really nice hotel at a decent price. I got the king size with a kitchen, and the room is spacious but a little outdated. There is a balcony and two sink areas for couples. Staff was friendly and the grounds are clean. Nice and close to the beach and to the outlets.
Spacious comfortable room, the only issue was the amount of water that leaked out onto the floor in the bathroom when showering. Also, the price was unexpectedly about $30 more than what it said when I reserved the room.

The location is perfect, right near the beach and amenities. The room is very clean, spacious and has a cute little out door patio attached. There is an awesome salt water pool and jacuzzi as well.

Competitive pricing for hotel rooms, fairly clean, washroom bathtub & fixtures are showing considerable age, if youre over 5 and 1/2 ft tall then youll find the shower head unusually low, noise from neighbouring rooms is louder than Id like, but the staff is kind and kindly hooked us up with some travel toothbrushes. We didnt use the tennis courts, but at least we can tell our friends that we stayed at a place that has tennis courts… same with the swimming pool. Lots of shopping plazas nearby within walking distance.
Convenient to Navy Base Ventura, reasonable rates ... has several free-standing kitchenette units. I park my visitors here.Its an old style motel - it aint the Marriott, to be sure - but its clean, well staffed, and works for me.
I honestly DO NOT understand how anyone could be okay with this place! We must of got stuck in the corner with the crappiest room there. So where should I start.... Floor was disgusting with stains all over it, spider webs along with a spider in corners, even the curtains had big huge dark stains on them. We had a king size bed that you could seriously feel the SPRINGS through! The whole atmosphere was awful and to top it off about midnight our Smoke Detector started beeping about 15 mins apart!! I finally called the front desk and the lady told me to TAKE OUT THE BATTERIES.....REALLY-- smart. So I am going to rely on you to come get us if there is a fire, huh. NO THANKS. Her reply was, Sorry there is nothing I can do about it till morning. WOW, thank you so much...uuuggghhhh!!! Even the young man working the desk at check out was rude, didnt even ask how our stay was! I am a traveling Soccer mom, we stay in a lot of Hotels. I have been to some dives before--but this one tops it! Please take my advice, YOU DO NOT want to stay here!!!
At first I thought the prices here were a little high, but once I experienced the quality service of the staff, charming atmosphere with potted plants and old-world-village theme, and a truly fresh, hot, tasty breakfast, I was an instant fan! Highly recommended to all - especially tennis players! ;)
Another safe-haven, a regular get-away for a short break sanctuary. Having there pride of fully furnished rooms and amenities with a tennis club, 🤩👌A dip in the pool that can refresh you all the time. And with there outstanding service and breakfast, superb ✌😍
The floors of the room were very dirty when I walked barefoot on them my feet were black and when I put the towels down they turn black more attention needs to be to the floors.
Remodel looks great! Rooms are nice but I miss the stove in the kitchenettes and complimentary breakfast not back till the fall. Other than that, rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Will stay again once breakfast is back and pool is open! 🌞😊
They didnt have our rooms ready and we got there 3 hours after check inWe had a family event to get to and we were late because we had to wait for our rooms the girl at the desk not the friendliest
They scammed me for the 150$ deposit claiming I smoked in the room.... I made this a clear point to not smoke in the room ( camera footage can prove this). I was also accused of tampering with the smoke detector.i didnt do either of these things but they refused to refund the refundable deposit leaving me completely broke..... It is not right.
Relatively cheap for what I can describe as nice accommodations. Pool, jacuzzi and tennis courts are a worthy incentive to stay here over some other areas. Decent location not really shady makes it worth staying here

Very friendly staff and the rooms are clean. 6 tennis courts a pool and hot tub! You can borrow tennis equipment from the office to play for free. The two down sides to this hotel are the rooms are very dated and really need to be remodeled, two its at a red light and there is a never ending flow of traffic by this place.
Nasty dirty room, looks as if someone disabled a Volkswagen engine in the middle of the floor! Bugs of some type running around the room. Needless to say we left and the room was non-refundable! If your looking for a motel room from the 60s that is dirty and over priced this is it.
Rooms are old and outdated, could definitely use a facelift. Breakfast is limited, not much variety. Room rates are probably the cheapest in town and you get what you pay for. If your looking for something quiet, cheap and somewhat cozy, this is the place.
Great place to stay. Has quite a few amenities that include a pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, and free breakfast in the morning. Room comes with wi-fi which is always a plus if your in town for business or pleasure. If that doesnt intrest you than a big shopping plaza that is about 2 blocks away walking distance will and the beach is also nearby good for an early stroll or maybe a bike ride as the sun rises. The staff is very kind and courteous, im always greeted with a hello and a big smile. I definitely recommend this place for everybody

Got a 10% off they didnt even give it to me. Breakfast was bad all the food was flat. Tge hotel is under renovation but the side I was in was terrible. No idea what tv station was what. Wasnt sure where garbage goes. The hotel rooms look sketchy.
I purchased a room for three nights.. non refundable. I had a change in plans and called many times to have them hold my reservation as I couldnt make it on the first night. They said that if I dont show on the first night it would be considered a no show and the room would be cancelled & that I had to check-in in person. I dont mind paying for the entire three days, but I believe that they should honor my late arrival.Poor customer service and a total rip off scam if you ask me. Its clear they make their money by re selling a room that was already paid for.Just say no!

Beware bed bugs!! stay here on July 2nd for a fishing trip. took a short power nap before the trip and i was laying down i can see something crawling in the edge if the bed, thinking nothing if it, woke up 2 hrs later and had bite marks in my neck and forearms. complaint to the manager and she didnt do anything about it, pack up all my stuff and left. will be disputing with Expedia. horrible customers service and ugly attitudes by the staffs

Only place we found for a last minute arrival in Oxnard with a king size bed. Older section of the Inn, kitchen and bathroom really need upgrade done. Might stay again to try the newer section. Breakfast left much to be desired, infact we went down the highway and ate fast food which we dont normally do.

It was pretty big. But Really Really Really bad service! So we were all good until my parents had to run for a family emergency so the key we had my brother and I to go in our room it wouldnt let us in! It wouldnt open the door so we went to the lobby to talk to the woman there and tell her wht had happen and if she could give us another key so that Woman was so rude and disrespectful to my brother and I so it was past midnight and there was no way we could go in! Because she wasnt been helpful at all ! My brothet and I had to sleep in the car that night ! It was the worst feeling ever ! Because even my fiancé past out! We had nothing to wear to church the next day we smelled like poop ! Because of your ztupid service! So when I go check out I go talk to the manager and he was 3 times worst he yelled at me and insulted me! And told me to shut up! I mean excuse me! whts up with the whole customers come first it wasnt our fault that the key didnt work! Therefore I dont recomend this hotel to anyone!

This was not worth the price. The room smelled, turns out the fridge leaks onto the carpet. There were large chunks of the venire missing on the furniture and carpet coming up in the corners. A little scary.
Extremely rude manager- i am disabled & i had my 89 year old mother with me- The manager was like a little cruel Hitlar and followed us around and was the meanest little monster- i have come across, the desk clerk a woman on the other hand was sweet nice. I was so upset when i left there i thought i had to go the hospital- but down on the corner - miracle - there was a young handsome mexican man holding a sign saying.
We had very loud neighbors that kept us awake from 3 am- 8am. We complained to the front desk 3 times.
This is the worst place I have ever stayed. The room was old, smelled like heavy perspiration and smoke, and the ceiling fan was hanging by two electrical wires from the junction box in the ceiling. Ive stayed in some real dumps in my life, but when I exchange stories with friends of such places, this always seems incredibly bad.
Elijah who works in the front office is great. Hes kind and helpful. The room was nice, but has a very strong strange smell to it.
This hotel has two things going for it. Its very close to the beach and breakfast is included with the room. The floors were very dirty, the bathroom was falling apart. This property needs some TLC

Cool little spot we found small N cozy.. very close to the beach, has some issues with the booking but they were very accommodating. stores close by CVS, McDonalds,l ralphs ect ect. Boat dock is close by also. Overall nice place with things to do nearby.
Did not like this hotel at all for one they act like its a 5 star hotel when clearly its not look at the out side of it...and two they over charge you I had to put 150 dollars down just for a security deposit ....and three I found a cockroach in my room.

Ive been through the county of Ventura many, many times over the years. Ive passed this place so many times. One a recent occasion a very good friend of mine was in Oxnard. He called me over to your location. Now Im in a room because it is the best y you can get on the low low!

I have stayed here twice. Nice size rooms, both times very clean and quiet. Right next to the Naval Base. Best stay I have ever had at a 2 star.
This place was gross. The comforter was ripped, the bathtub had a crack in it and a nice crop of mold. The paint was peeling above the shower head.

Place was dirty, everything is very outdated. Way overpriced. I stayed at a motel 6 that was much nicer and cheaper. Only upside its the free breakfast.
The room is big and clean but the location is not the most convenient if you are visiting someone from the Ventura Navy Base.
My room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. All amenities that I need in a room were provided, even a hairdryer.
Very clean and nice beds! I will come stay here again, perhaps in the fall as it was close to the Harbor and they will be having a concert.
Casa Via Mar Inn is close to my Mothers Care Home and convenient. It is updated and usually clean. Staff is accommodating.

During my stay at this hotel, the room was dirty, the carpet had a huge stain, breakfast was terrible. Light switch was broken, shower door was broken, the sink knob was broken. Very unpleasant stay.
Nice and clean room. There are tennis 🎾 courts on the property. Would stay here again.
Old run down & stinky. Furniture is from the 1990s ripped & torn. Socks were black after walking without shoes. Bathroom dirty with decades of soap scum & hard water stains. I could go on but you get the idea.
Our stay wasnt bad, however I think they need to remodel the rooms a little bit better, and replace their carpeting!
Comfortable beds and fresh appointments make these rooms a good value. The staff is warm and friendly.

The hotel room was new on he inside and very modern design - highly recommended - dont just a book by its cover.

2023-11-11 03:33:45Clean comfortable rooms. Nice pool and hot tub. Good fitness room. 6 tennis courts! Good location if you want to be near Channel Islands tours. Many restaurants nearby. Fairly quiet area. Lobby was being remodeled. Cantina sign out front but no Cantina. No breakfast. No microwave. Would stay here again. Room safe. Fridge.

2023-06-04 19:25:57If you’re planning a trip to Oxnard or Port Hueneme, save yourself some trouble and try to find a different place to stay. Unless of course you don’t mind having roaches 🪳 as extra guests in your room. I was hoping it would be fine since they’re clearly renovating the rooms.Brought this issue up to the manager, Nancy, she did not seem the least bit concerned, perhaps she lives with roaches, or this is quite common. I asked for that night to be comped. She said the best she could offer was $50 off the room for that night. Seriously?! That was actually insulting considering we had 3 rooms for more than 1 night.The floors are filthy!!The shower door was leaky.The doors need weather stripping.Medicine was stolen out of one of our rooms.I didn’t want to take pictures cause I didn’t want to soil my photo roll.Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!

2023-07-12 20:12:33No blow dryer, no microwave. I work a lot out of town. Try and save some money by using the microwave but now I cant no biggie but thats why they only got three stars. The rooms are very big and clean. Kind of empty rooms on the inside but Im not complaining

2023-06-11 13:20:52Very enjoyable stay. I would definitely return.When you pull in, you’ll be daunted by boarded up rooms & make shift office. But their still under renovation and half done.Spacious, remodeled, pristinely clean room. Easily sleeps 3 comfortably.Includes mini fridge, safe, coffee maker, fan, blackout curtains.No microwave though.Everyone will say the floors are dirty. Here’s the thing. There’s no carpet, so do yourself a favor and plan to stay Japanese style. Bring a pair of house slippers or non slip footies and take off your street shoes at the door. Especially if you go to the beach. The floors track dirt easily so just be mindful of your own steps.We were miffed they said online they provide complimentary breakfast, but because of renovations on their kitchen, that’s not the case. They didn’t offer anything back for it either. They could at least give a $10 voucher to McDonald’s across the street or something…On site is a pool, jacuzzi, a really nice home gym with the basic essentials & water purifier. There’s also tennis courts which surprised me, but we had no need.Very good walkability to local stores, strip malls & convenience. About a 15 min walk to the shoreline too.Right beside train tracks but it didn’t run when we staid. Not the greatest view from the balcony: ditch/empty water runway beneath the tracks.Overall: Despite the less than stellar comments, I still say a great stay for the price because I loved the spacious, solid, quiet rooms, cleanliness, and access to the gym & pool with free parking.

2023-09-24 02:16:38For some reason they are not answering the front desk phone number which Ive had for about a year I know someone who is staying there for a long-term. Plus when I try to look them up, all I got was a bunch of numbers to make reservations very hard to get a hold of front desk. Looks like a nice place to stay tho.

2023-05-30 23:59:59Spent one night at this quaint Mission styled hotel and enjoyed the spacious and exceptionally clean rooms. Only 15 minutes or so to Channel Islands Visitor Center and down the street from lots of shopping and Oxnard harbor. Rooms are modern, very clean and perfect for being close to the beach. Also well lit for once, so many hotel rooms are dark. Plenty of parking too.
