New Peruvian/Colombian spot in town. We got some amazing Peruvian food cooked fresh and homestyle. Best Seco Ive ever had.Things we ordered: Seco, beans, arroz chaufa, empanadas, papa rellena, and alfajores. All of them were incredible except for the alfajores (they were just okay).This is easily going to be a regular spot we go to in the neighborhood. Never take awesome Peruvian food for granted!
I stopped by this new Latin Restaurant & Bakery and was highly impressed with my experience.Because they just opened, I know to be more understanding of any issues they may initially have and I should be patient as they correct them.With that being said, the service is warm, friendly and inviting. I especially like how the owners are working the floor and helping to answer any inquiries, helping customers understand what their brand represents.Casera is a Latin restaurant on one side and part bakery on their other half.The bakery side has fresh-baked goods like breads, empanadas, pâtés and cakes.The restaurant side has a form of deli-style ordering system. You get in line, order your sides & some proteins from the pre-made dish pots and then you can order certain dishes that will always be made fresh to-order.This is good for those who want to eat & run or sit & enjoy.They have plenty of tables for group seating too.Theyre kid-friendly and pet-friendly.Im truly happy that Oceanside now has Authentic Peruvian & Columbian Cuisine again!Hoping that everyone get to experience these dishes and sweets!
So happy that this place is nearby with so many delicious options!!! We brought our friend from Columbia and she agreed that the fried empanadas and pastries taste like they could have been from back home. Well be back (often).
Good food, tasty and like homemade. The service is good, the dish I ordered was the Lomo Saltado that comes with rice, fries, meat with onions and tomatoes for $16 and with eggs on top for an additional $2. It was tasty, the only tip I would give would be to come with a little packet of salt. Success for you guys!
Came here for Saturday morning breakfast on the drive up to LA. The empanadas were delicious! They are kept perfectly warm next to the counter in a heated shelving. The shell of the empanadas is top notch, so tender and delicious. Some other places have the doughy skin too thick. This place has just the right thickness as you bite into it. We got the beef empanada and they pack it with good amount of meat that is perfectly seasoned. We loved the cheesy breads. They are a generous amount, the right amount of cheesy flavor and the best chewy texture without being tough. For the price they really give you a generous amount of food. Compared to portos, this place has larger portions and is 100% family owned. Wish we lived closer to have
We were deciding on somewhere to eat for my lunch break and I saw this place and all options immediately went out the window. There were so many good options that looked delicious and the man at the register was so helpful about everything! Highly recommend this place for their impeccable service, staff, and food. I’m picky about which hot sauces I like but they had 3 amazing options that I would happily buy all of their stock in if they decided to sell them. I would rate more that five stars if I could
Their empanadas are amazing. They make beef, chicken, and a spinach and cheese. All 3 are so delicious. And the salsa that it comes with is icing on the cake. I brought some to a party and everyone loved them too! This is my go to spot for empanadas now. Haven’t had a chance to try anything else but everything on the menu sounds tasty.
We cant get enough of this place! The food is incredible and fresh and the service is fantastic. Some of the best Colombian food weve ever had. Some of our favorites are the Bandeja Paisa, Lomo Saltado, buñuelos, pan de bono, empanadas and flan. Everything weve had has been delicious! Highly recommend.
Good spot for Peruvian food on Oceanside Blvd!! They serve breakfast dishes all day, as well as several traditional dishes and empanadas. The lomos saltados is a good beef dish
This place has a great combination of delicios Peruvian and Colombian food. We find Colombian typical bakery as well and the food was delicious at.the right cost. I wish them the best and have this restaurant open for many years to enjoy it.
I give two because the empanada and the seco de carne were good, then the rest ají de gallina, tallarín saltado, tallarines verdes, and chicha morada were without flavor. It was sad since our family was meeting together after a long time, and we were excited to eat there after reading reviews, but it was not a good experience. At the end the waiter made a rude comment to us. I cannot recommend a place like this.
We ordered the Empanadas and Chorizo plate for breakfast. Also got the iced coffee and everything we had was amazing. Hands down best empanadas I have ever had. Great ambiance with super friendly staff. Make the trip out, you wont regret it!
My girlfriend and I decided to stop here for lunch on a whim. We were blown away by the huge selection of pastries and al a carte food. I got the bandeja paisa which was amazing and so big I had enough for dinner! She got the seco de carne with the chaufa rice and was thrilled. The orange hot sauce was also amazing, but my favorite had to be the tres leches cake. The employee at the register was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back, this is one of our new favorite spots!
The food was fresh and amazing and the service was just as good. We had Lomo Saltado, Aji De Gallina and a variety of Empanadas. We highly recommend trying Casera Latin Kitchen. It was a great find and we are going back soon.
Loved this place! Everything tastes homemade with love. Tons of veggies and excellent seasoning and flavor on the meats. I got the Colombian Rice with the Seco de Carne and Frejoles, amazing flavor and so filling. Also tried the tres leches cake, which was super moist and fresh. Grabbed a guava pastry for later. Will definitely come back to this place. I want to try more!!
The bakery is freaking amazing! Im Colombian, I can tell you the pan de bonos and roscones are to die for! Definitely a must stop when you want the coffee with a sweet craving!
Coming from New Jersey where Colombian food and restaurants are super common to coming to SoCal where it’s very limited. This place is absolutely amazing, and we get some Peruvian food as well. John the owner is very friendly and welcoming. My #1 go to spot in my local area.
We decided to get break feast here and you will not regret it they have very clean bathrooms and lots of seating they also have amazing food some are pan de yuca, empanadas de carne, cheese croissant, and more. It’s is also a great place for all ages and if you have a picky Ecuadorian or Colombian grandparents this is the place to take them
I only tried the empanadas for take-out. They are delicious and authentic. I think I will get one each next time to try them all. The staff is very pleasant. Very good experience.
Highly recommend.I just needed a small bite. Ordered Peruvian rice and a baked beef empanada with yummy hot sauce on the side.Next time I will get the soup for lunch. Large combo plates great for leftovers too!I want to try everything!
Casera opened a week ago and I have already been twice.The Columbian coffee is one of the best coffees I have ever had!! The machine is a drip style directly from Columbia.Everything is made in-house and I recommend the buffet so you can try some of each dish. The empenadas are amazing and there is vegetarian as well as baked and dried options (I prefer the fried beef one but having tried each flavor and prep type they are all extraordinary).I have not had a chance to try each bakery and dessert offering because of the amount of offerings they have is voluminous. I cant remember the name of the particular cheese bread (it is round and crunchy) but it is my favorite as well as the anise flavored rolled one. The flan was so amazing that the first time I went it sold out while I was eating my lunch. However, on my second visit the owner and his family made sure to have more (I may have hinted to them that I was sad to miss out the first visit... What great customer service!!) and it was so good I bought 5 servings. I went on Wednesday and I can report that all but 1 serving has been consumed and it is 12:12 am on Friday morning. Not sure piece number 5 is going to make it in my work lunch later today.The servings are generous, the prices are inexpensive, the decor is simple but impactful. The hot sauce is scrumptious (it is a secret family recipe that I hope they start bottling). The staff care about their food and about the guests. The owner Luis gave me a tour and I learned a lot about a cuisine I wasnt overly familiar with. I was helped at the counter by Luis sister and by his girlfriend Monica as well as Luis and I couldnt ask for better service!Highly recommend as you can tell!! Check it out, you wont be sorry!!
Family-owned home cooking that is simply perfect!The beef empanada was crispy and juicy, the Aji de Gallina was flavorful, the Bandeja Paisa was loaded with delicious meats, and the alfajores were a perfect end to the meal.Looking forward to returning to try the fast casual food and the saltado. And the tres leche cake. And the breakfast. You get the idea!
This is exactly what this area in North County was missing. The staff is wonderful, the food hits the spot and we are happy to come back again and again to try something new or get the delicious empanadas, buñuelos and drinks that I miss from Colombian restaurants.

Try everything because everything is amazing. I had the best empanada of my life here but there is much more to try on the menu. I’m still dreaming of the guava cream cheese pastry. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful as well. Cannot wait to come back.

Literally EVERYTHING at this restaurant is sooooooo good.I went here 2 days in a row with my different groups of friends and they ALL LOVED EVERYTHING.Empanadas, papa rellena, guava cream cheese pastry, lomo saltado, chaufa rice, aji de gallina, estofado de pollo!!! They are all sooo good. Its my goal to try every single menu here : )
The food was great! For a new restaurant, theyve got their dishes down. I had the lomo saltado, empanadas, and tres leches cake. The owner personally greeted me and gave me a background on the cuisine. Very authentic. Highly recommend!

I loved the customer service. The tamales are good, the meat and chicken empanadas too, my children loved them. And dont forget to order the chili they have, its great to accompany.

2023-07-05 02:54:58I’ve been going almost every day since they opened — such a unique addition to North County! Love supporting a family business. The flavors are rich and everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) is HOMEMADE. Hard to find these days.I get a pastry nearly everyday on my way to work, but their a la carte menu is so good.Definitely worth checking out - a gem of North County!

The service was great, they explained all the different foods and options. Prices are reasonable - the food portions were .... lets put it this way, we had to take leftovers home. Food is very flavorful with a fresh home cooked feel-no frozen or fast food vibe. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Definitely going back for more!☺️

The food here hits my heart, service is awesome, plenty of parking, and tables. They have a buffet with food that tastes homecooked and they also cook plates to order. To me their pollo saltado is not from this world. Must have! Thank you Casera for always make me break a smile when I eat your food. Love from Brazil!

Its the second restaurant the family owns, the other is in New York. They have everything from guava empanadas to chaufa to arepas. If you’ve been searching all over SoCal for authentic South American food like I have, then look no further.

Service is 100%.Authentic Colombian empanadas and buñuelos, by the way notice that Colombian buñuelos are different than Mexican ones. Peruvian empanadas and alfajores are good as well.They have Peruvian and Colombian tamales, I think from El Valle area. We havent tried them but will soon.Casera is one of those places that you feel welcome since you open the door.

2023-06-12 19:22:29I picked up 1 each of the empanadas (chicken, beef, and spinach baked empanadas and beef and chicken fried empanadas) and a couple guava pastries and brought them home to share with my family. For $30 we had a delicious handmade food, perfect for a afternoon snack for 4 or more people. I think the spinach and cheese empanada is my favorite but I cant decide because they are all so good!! They also offer full meals that are also really tasty. Definitely a must try restaurant!
