Yum! Tasty Chinese food!!Different from other fast Chinese food places, but in a good way. The Orange Chicken was not heavily breaded and was made with large, juicy chicken; it has a nice thin crispy outside and delicious sauce. I also had the Garlic Spice Chicken. This was a pleasant change if you like spicy, garlicky and sweet all in one, yum!! The Chicken Egg rolls were a nice treat too; loved the crunchy cabbage in it as well.To drink I had the Thai Iced-tea. Deliciously creamy and sweet. Perfect match with the Garlic Spice Chicken.The portions are huge! Enough to feed two people in one meal.The staff here are super friendly!

Really good food for fast Chinese food. The value of the food, quality, and portion is definitely worth it. They serve huge portions compared to Panda Express. Prices are very reasonable here. We also like their milk tea with boba (large tapioca balls).

This is my aunt’s favorite restaurant, and the restaurant has been at this location for many years. We enjoyed a variety of dishes and all were very good. From egg rolls to fried rice to a variety of chicken dishes all the food was very good. The staff are very pleasant and efficient. The prices are reasonable and they offer a variety of serving size options. A good restaurant between Chinese fast food and made to order. Excellent place.

Unfortunately, this was some of the grossest Chinese food we’ve tried. The lo mein and fried rice were inedible due to a burnt smell and taste. It smelled like they were cooked on extremely dirty and burnt cookware or burnt oil.They are one of only a few Chinese options in our area so I hope some improvements can be made. Will not be returning as of now.

So the only reason Im giving this place 2 stars is one because they are generous with the portions and also their food is a hit and miss. Mostly just miss. The shrimp fried rice has hardly any shrimp so its more like a fried rice and heavy on the soy sauce. The orange chicken has no flavor at all. I ordered the orange chicken another time and hardly had any chicken just mostly batter. The teriyaki chicken was chewy and dry. So heres my review, great portions for alot of not great food. Skip this place unless you want something fast and bland..

Lo mein is perfect, not too many veggies. Tried the spicy garlic chicken, it was delicious. Not spicy at all, not too sweet either. Staff was very nice. Portions are big. Went for lunch around 1230.

I’ve had have some very bad tasteless Chinese in the past, this one takes the cake by far. New to the area and ordered to go. Got home orange chicken tough to the point that it felt like rubber, fried rice was super dry and stale, chow mein nothing but cooked noodles no flavor. No joke I had to take out my bottle Panda Express orange chicken flavor to add to everything. Forgot about thinking saving your food for left overs, if it was stiff before it’s worse if you microwave the rice crumbled like dirt while chewing

Went here a few days ago and they had ran out of most of the most of the food and would not make any more. I was there at 8:15. They said that the kitchen closes at 8:15. But by that time most of the food was gone. They said they close at 8:30. But according to Google they close at 9. This has been the 2nd time this has happened. 1 of the items they had was beef and broccoli but only like 3 pcs beef and the rest broccoli. Will definitely not go again

First time trying this place. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and got plain chicken instead. I called to inquire, Jamie stated the sauce is upon request, I asked then how is this chicken sweet and sour? She said some customers like it with and others without, again, based on request. Doesn’t make sense! Why would you order that entree if you don’t like the sauce? I asked for a manger because Jamie had hung up on me the first time I called and she said there was no manager on duty. Instead of her apologizing and giving me options to fix my issue, I had to come up with a solution myself. Not very customer service friendly if you ask me. Fried rice and noodles were good, too bad they’re customer service is very poor.

Used to love this place but the customer service has seriously gone downhill. The last few times our orders have been wrong and they’ve given attitude when we asked them to fix it. One of those times, they gave me shrimp which I’m allergic to.Tonight, my husband went almost an hour before closing and the employee RAN to the door, shook their head, and locked the door.Disrespectful employees now unfortunately.

The lady said that a Chinese dish, that one of the main ingredients is peanuts, does not have peanuts. Imagine that!!!

Went here to get some awesome smelling Chinese. The cashier Jamie was so rude I walked out. I wanted noodles and fried rice with orange chicken. There was a wait on the noodles so I was waiting. By the time I made it too the register the noodles were out. So I asked Jamie if she was going to put food in the container ( it was empty because of no noodles) she gave me likely the worst attitude ever. Rolled her eyes, sighed, like really snotty.... Our family really enjoys going to Kathys Chinese food. They have really top-quality food. Always fresh always hot. We have seen some new younger faces working there. And we are so happy to see everyone working together and communicating. Its really nice to see a restaurant hire new people and everyone working in a time like this. Everyone there seems grateful for their job. Theyre really nice. Fast service. Sometimes it can get a little loud in there but you just have to remain calm and be patient.

I love Cathays! The portions are more than fair for the price and the food is great. This place feels like Menifees dedicated Chinese small business. I also just want to say that there is no other place that has made a better chicken eggroll than Cathays. Seriously... they are so soooo good.Cathays offers 4 different plate entrees starting from a bowl with 1 item to a plate with 3 items.You also have the option to buy entrees by themselves and order soups, appetizers, and even boba!My family who have moved away out of state still miss this place and when they come back to visit they always want to come to cathays at least once during their visit.

This place has been here since I can remember and from my first memories till now they are still one of the best in the area. The food is awesome and the cooks love what they do and it shows in how good of quality their cooking is. The counter workers are always professional and make sure that you get what you want.(and are very generous with the portions you get). Its a tad small for people dining in but luckily they have outside seating that is well shaded.the owners take pride in their business and it show since they have been in business for more that 15 years. Keep up the good work guys!

No longer serves pork chow mein or one of their former excellent entrees - sweet and sour pork. I noticed this on my last four visits but finally asked one of the owners last time. He told me neither option is available any more although they remain on the displayed menu. Service remains attentive and friendly as do generous, flavorful portions if you seek a large assortment of chicken dishes. Beef dishes arent their best options due to the grade of meat used. Thankfully, its egg foo young remains truly excellent. Prices have inched higher making their 2 or 3 combo item dishes the most affordable. However, if you prefer items other than chicken dishes or high priced shrimp options Cathay has evolved more like a Panda Express without the corporate feel. New residents wont notice because they dont know the difference from how truly superior Cathay used to be. Business appears to remain above average by any metric and good for them on that. It remains a viable option for take-out Chinese. On the other hand ... other than its convenient location ... Cathay Chinese Food has become comparable to nearly any other Chinese food outlet in Menifee.

First Ill start by saying Ive been eating here for 10 years. Great food but the service has being terrible. Ive always had issues with the one older lady, she really puts the smallest scoopes of food in your tray. Order a 3 item from another other employee and they can barely shut the lid, the other lady leaves your tray empty. Im not paying $12 for a 3 item that equals a 1 item portion. Ive noticed the service overall has been bad, call in your order 30 mins ahead of time and get there to them giving excuses about them waiting on your item, and it takes another 20 mins once your there. I gave the benefit of the doubt since there has been new employees working there but after a fewmonths get your stuff together. The f0 I will say best Chinese food in town or any local surrounding area. Come for the food, you put up with the service because the food is amazing.

Now Im the one giving the review, and like many before me, it is a positive one!The food it good, hot, tasty, and they are not shy on portions! The line sometimes gets really long, which means theres going to be a long wait, but that only means that business is good! If you have not been here before, then you owe it to yourself to at the least, try it once. Just note that once you try it, youll be back :-)

Weve been coming here for about 18 years and just recently, we feel its loosing its taste and customer service, ESPECIALLY today. They close at 9pm but they put all chairs on the table as we were ordering at 8:35pm. They said they were closing till 9pm but we couldnt dine in because they need to get ready to close. When i arrived, they “closed early” because they “ran out of food” even though i saw them boxing up a pork fried rice for an employee through the window 🤔. I knocked on the door anyway and asked about my food, they said no, they’re out of food, they’re closed. I pointed out the open light was still on and that they told me 20 mins and that i saw them boxing up some fried rice, then he locked the door, walked away, turned off the open light and went to the back. We discovered this place by accident!!! We were going to Postal Anex and as soon as we opened the car doors, i immediately noticed this wonderful smell in the air!!! I told my mom, do you smell that? Where is that coming from? I noticed the Chinese restaurant with ppl lined up.. So i challenged my mom to check it out and mayb try a few dishes to go while we do our business at Postal Anex!! i couldnt wait to try one of the dishes before we drove back home. I took a small piece of the orange chicken and it was big chunks of Chicken breasts with light breading and just enough sauce to enjoy!! I knew the rest of the dishes she bought will most likely be as good! And the Mongolian beef a and chicken dish she bought were both very delicious!! We will definitely come back! I have visited many Chinese restaurants in my life, and Cathay Chinese food is, by far, exceptional! This restaurants food is always fresh, and if you arrive when a particular entree is looking scarce on the bottom of the pan, they will offer to fix a fresh entree if you do not mind an 8-minute wait. I have never seen this restaurant dirty; tables are immediately wiped clean and the floor always appears clean. The atmosphere is casual inside, or you can eat outside at the sidewalk tables or choose to take your entrees home. I have never had one bad experience in the 20 years I have purchased food from this establishment. The staff are always friendly and courteous, serving very satisfying portions and working hard to keep patrons moving rapidly to satisfy customers. I rate this restaurant a 10-plus.

Ok so Ive been here couple times, it can be either good or soggy food, I noticed at dinner time you get more soggy food, their chow mein is pretty good tho and their prices also, I love their hot and sour soup, but dislike the older lady working there, you always have to yell your order which make it look rude and if she cant hear you its worse you just keep repeating and she doesnt understand if you have a question either until another employee intervenes, this has happened a couple times and makes it frustrating to order and even deal with. So if you know what your getting your good, just. Order and get out door, this isnt such a friendly place to be wondering and making conversation, just go in and out, their wontons are good though

My chicken wasn’t cooked all the way through. It was very tough. Chow Mien taste as if it was drowned in soy sauce. My Thai Tea, was warm and also had a piece of carrot in it. I was very disappointed with my service and quality of the food. I highly don’t recommend no one eat at Cathy’s.

The restaurant was laid out simply, greeted upon entry, and since it was my first visit, they explained the lunch special and ordering off the main menu.I chose the special, a bowl serving, and it was plenty. Pick a base of rice, noodles or vegetables, then your pick of two toppings.They also offer you a sample of a menu items, if unsure about which to choose.I would return here when in the area again.

This is a nice Chinese food place to eat its clean and have pretty good people. At times there can be a language issue when ordering with one lady causeing some frustration on both sides when ordering. Its hard to get a order of shrimp frid rice made the way you want. My experience here was absolutely terrible. The food was nothing as I expected. The shrimp chow mein contained more vegetables than shrimp and noodles put together which only made up a little less than a quarter of the large to-go box. The noodles didnt look like the normal chow mein noodles, but I didnt mind it. However, the shrimp tasted like they were boiled and thrown in there for the sake of the name, it was bland. The chicken egg rolls were disappointing because they had one small piece of chicken in it, the rest being more vegetables. The customer service was decent enough. They were extremely nice, but the workers didnt seem to know what they were talking about when I asked about the box sizes. They replied with: I dont really know. At first, I thought it was really pricey for what I got, but when I got home, I realized they had charged me for an extra portion of a small shrimp chow mein when I only ordered two large. I shouldve checked before I left, but I didnt think I had to. It wouldve been fine, if Id received the small chow mein, but I didnt. If by chance this isnt only my bad luck, I dont recommend going here.

If youre on a budget like we are and want some fast food chinese in Menifee, this is the place. They serve a Jalapeno chicken thats hot but doesnt sting. Aside from soda machines and fortune cookies, each item in the menu stands alone at the end of the day. Cathay Chinese Food was busy at approximately 4:30 PM on this warm Saturday in Menifee, CA. The food on display, served combination style, a la Panda Express, looked breaded, mostly sweet coated, and no different than any similar type, where the customer requests their preference, and in this case two lovely servers of the female persuasion, non oriental, served what appeared generous amounts of the available choices. It is a well known fact that Chinese places of this kind, sweeten most of their entrees, where savory dishes are far and few in between. There is a definite appeal to the American public for all things sweet: Sweet and Sour Pork, Orange Chicken, BBQ Pork, etc., and of course the fried part. According to the statistics Chinese food beats all the McDonalds, Burger Kings and Taco Bells combined, with over 40,000 Chinese eateries in the USA.I ordered Egg Rolls, Vegetables and the little more fatter and expensive, Chicken. Yes, that was it, to the tune of $12 plus. First, the chicken had barely any chicken, and frankly tasted mediocrely, and the vegetable was even worst. 2 Stars at most. Service and cleanliness earned the last star.
