Edit: Cavallo Point went above and beyond to address all of my concerns listed in the review below.We had our wedding at Cavallo Point. We had a good experience overall. Our Event Specialist Marcia did an excellent job. The view was breathtaking, food was amazing, and the property is beautiful. That said, the rooms do not have air conditioning and they were underprepared in terms of fans. The weekend was abnormally hot for the bay area (low 90s, high 80s), but it does get hot here in October, and the fact that they werent prepared is unbelievable. We didnt think to ask about AC ahead of time, but we never would have thought a place with this price tag would not have AC. We were all trying to avoid being drenched in sweat on the biggest day of our lives. Even an AC wall unit would have been helpful. The weather here is not easily predicted. That said, they have a gigantic property, and could easily have window units or portable units available. They have historic units with which Im sure they dont want to tamper, but there are myriad options, and they also have modern units which do not have AC.The sound system Cavallo Points vendors provided for the reception was pretty bad. Its 2 standalone speakers that sound like theyre underwater and a mic that gets a LOT of feedback. The speaker at the bowling alley for the afterparty was difficult to even hear, and I had to figure out how it worked because the staff didnt know.The service was mostly fine, but not great for a high-end place. There was, however, an incident with the man who handled transport. We were prepping for the ceremony just before it started. I asked the drink person if they could get me a non-alcoholic drink since I no longer drink, and he didnt seem to understand the question, so I asked the transport person if he could pass the request along to someone when he got back down there. He said What? No. You can go down there and do it yourself? I said Im the groom, and Im needed here. He said then you arent getting it and he drove off. If he had just said he couldnt help me, I would have understood and just moved on. Theres no need to treat people that way, especially right before their wedding ceremony. He was rude to other guests as well. I think he was trying to be funny, but he was just behaving like a bitter misanthrope.Overall, the view is incredible and the campus is beautiful. Its a nice place to stay. That said, I wouldnt recommend it for a wedding.
What a wonderful experience. You do not just stay here, instead it is an elevated experience. Top notch contemporary designed rooms. The art (numbered prints) add appropriate ambience. One of the best views, of any places we have stayed. But the crown jewel are the people. The entire staff are friendly, polite, helpful and the utmost professionals. They make it a memorable experience! Thank-you!
Albert provided an exceptional experience at Sunday Brunch for the two of us. Our dogs had a great time and the chef knocked it out of the park with the eggs benedict and asparagus dish. Thank you for the hospitality!
Definitely one of the “hidden” gems of the Bay AreaThe views/ location alone give it 5 stars.But on top of that everyone there is extremely nice and accommodating!And then the services they offer, from the spa to free use of a Lexus or e-bike (and so much more)- google needs more stars for a place like this !!I’ve lived my entire life in the Bay Area, and if someone who lived here or was visiting asked what’s one place THEY HAVE TO TRY - it’s CAVALLO hands down
Front desk days they don’t have per-room HVAC, so when it’s cold in your room, which is often, there’s no way to increase the heat without increasing the temp in all the rooms (which the hotel won’t do). I have no idea why someone would build a hotel this way. There is a small fireplace in the room but it will take hours to heat a large space, the only way you can get warm is stand in front of it. Lots of cold nights with a second blanket. Not pleasant. Would not stay again.
Great place to stay and visit the city right over the Golden Gate. One of my favorite spots in The Bay Area.Amazing views. Wonderful service and atmosphere.
I am writing this to share the horrible experience we had today. We were staying at the lodge and dined at Farley. We had dinner the previous night and it was mediocre food. We went back for breakfast and the light over the table had a heavy glass decorative covering, which all of a sudden just dropped and shattered on our breakfast plates and we were left with broken glass pieces on three of us sitting around the table. Luckily my 2 yr old was standing a little farther and nothing happened to her. The other people dining around us were also concerned and asked us if we were ok as the noise the glass caused when it crashed was loud as it was heavy. We got away from the table and the manager said “sorry, I am going to send breakfast to your room and it is on me”. We ordered breakfast to our room and while checking out at noon, they gave us the bill for breakfast. We told the receptionist at the cavallo point lodge about what happened and called the manager who simply said that “ I didn’t tell them I would send breakfast to their room and cover it, the glass shattered on their plates and I apologized to them”Firstly what happened to us was dangerous. And we didn’t say a word after what happened as there were other people dining there and we didn’t want to make it unpleasant for them. The manager tried to behave like she was trying to make it up to us for the bad experience but it just ended being false statements. This is far from hospitable and definitely the most unpleasant experience I had at any restaurant so far.Apart from the restaurant, the stay at the lodge was pleasant and beautiful.
Came here for our anniversary and it was a wonderful time! The rooms were very nice with a great view, the property was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Maybe it was because we just came from an outstanding property. Maybe it was because we had kids. Maybe it was something else, but I just wasnt impressed with this property at all. It had nice amenities but it felt tailored more to a much older crowd. I wasnt a fan of the overall property. The room was far away from everything and there werent adequate walkways. Service was average. It felt very stuffy to me

The lodge, and especially their brunch, is outstanding. This review speaks to their outside BBQ series which as it relates to the A lūʻau (Hawaiian: lūʻau, also anglicized as luau -- a traditional Hawaiian party or feast.) held last weekend.For $40 it was a sham. A feast is a feast. Here they rationed off food like twas the holocaust. Potato chips? No. Juice? One cup? More rice? No? Out of desert.Really peculiary incredibly expensive for what it was. Had to go get lunch after!Several months later I have written you Martin but sadly to my knowledge no reply...at all.The manner in which managment recovered from a fumble was / is exceptional. We all make mistakes. I know I do. I have revised my review accordingly!

I normally do not write reviews but my experience was so bad, I feel others need to proceed with caution.We decided to book 10 rooms for 20+ people to attend my birthday. The problems started well before our arrival but I will simplify into a few areas of terrible hospitality.Communication: we needed to cancel a room due to a sick member of the party. I asked if I would be penalized, no response until after we checked out. 2 weeks later I am still going back and forth with very little response and zero refund for a room we cancelled in advance.Check-in: Our guests did not get phone calls, texts, or emails when rooms were ready. When asking the front desk, they simply said we forgot. Also, most guests were asked 3-4 times to show identification when we were all standing in the lobby for most of the afternoon, it was a really strange groundhog day experience.Spa: It says all guests have access however that is not true. We asked to use the steam room only. Not a huge ask. However we were told the spa was full and we needed to have reservations, no where does it say book ahead of time. When I arrived the manager was kind enough to let 2 of us at a time use the steam room, NO ONE was in the locker room when we used the mens side. I totally get it that guests were in their specific services at the time, but for a quick 24 hour trip we should have easy access to hotel guest amenities.Breakfast: We tried to get breakfast Monday morning and were told no tables were available, yet 1/2 the room was empty. We sat at the bar as a compromise. But again, how can paying hotel guests not get access to a nearly empty restaurant.For my 40th we spent an absurd amount of money on rooms, food, transportation. They will not have my business again, I am a Marriott Elite member and they know how to manage a hospitality business with class.

First, the setting is spectacular. Taking into account the age of the historic buildings and guest rooms, not bad. Beds and pillows not comfortable. Not much interaction with staff other than front desk. Valets very courteous and helpful. Food service just ok but quality of meals was good.The bad, the cost of this resort is VERY high. In my opinion, value is nowhere near the price point. Everything is expensive. If you dont mind spending then I recommend this resort. If on a budget, then look elsewhere.
Two tiers of rooms, the older style that is renovated interiors of the barracks and new construction of very modern style. Both are great, but both are expensive. The amenities are great, especially the spa, which has an excellent steam room, hot tub, and meditation pool which is kept above 90°F. The views are stunning, and the golden gate bridge is a few minutes away by foot.The on-site bar is solid with an extensive menu and good service. The restaurant is a bit expensive for what it is, but the food is solid.They also have free shuttles to and from San Francisco and downtown Sausalito. They even have Lexus vehicles you can borrow for up to 3 hours for free (as long as you have car insurance)! Its a premium location with premium pricing, but if youre looking to treat yourself, its a great getaway just north of the city.

Room 1403Stayed for Valentine’s Day, read some of the negative reviews but thought I would give it a try.. my belongings were stolen. Either from housekeeping or the bellman. I called to see once I realized my stuff was gone they told me my room hadn’t been clean that they would check and still no call back. As I got home and started to unpack I started realizing more items missing. I’m truly not one to post stuff like this but I feel violated as a single mother and staying here and having my stuff touched or even looked through and taken just blows my mind. I stayed here for two nights and paid 2 thousand dollars to have my personal belongings taken? What did I do? We live near by so we thought we could go out for a little vacay away didn’t stay anywhere or go anywhere but our room and to eat here on property. Sketchy employees and I overlooked it all. I will post my post on every platform your business has so people can protect themselves before coming here. Not cool at all, I’d love a call from a manager or owner soon. Thank you
No, every time I stayed there, 5x over 2 years something was broken in the suit. Then it would take maintenance at least 3x to fix it. I am talking the TV, coffee machine...just so annoying. As a guest I am not supposed to run operations to make sure the next guest has a functioning room! Then room service would scold me if I order off menu...like vanilla ice cream, or sour dough bread instead of crackers, no I am not kidding. Management will remind you every day that YOU are in federal land, like you are a small child. Jenny was the worst, and would quote Joe Biden, seriously??? The menu also never changed ..over 2 years time and only allowed me to order breakfast the night before on my last stay there...NOT 4 star!!! So why did I keep coming back...One, these were always last minute business trips and they were the only ones with rooms available and the spa. The spa is wonderful and highly recommend it, except because they allow non-guests to book spa services you have to book 2 to 3 months in advance. Not a place I want to go to for R&R...too much work.
Fantastic lodging just minutes from the bridge and the city. Extraordinary experience with the cooking school and Chef Tim. The modern rooms are well equipped and comfortable. But they are on a rather steep hill which isn’t a fun climb after a great meal in the restaurants in the main buildings. Views are wonderful at the waterfront which is a short walk away.
I will give 6 stars if I have a chance. The scenery, environment & the rooms are fantastic!
Thank you Cavallo Point for an extraordinary stay. The term is extra amazing is more applicable here though, my wife and I enjoyed every second of being there and cannot wait to return. The staff were so kind and welcoming, the grounds are set on the most picturesque backdrop one can imagine, the golden gate bridge. The room was stunning, we were lucky enough to have a golden gate bridge view and I literally spent hours staring at it. How magical! The room had things I did not even know existed, wine on tap, yes wine on tap - delicious wine! The mattress had a heating and cooling feature as my wife and I prefer different temperatures and now I am searching for one to buy for our home! We also thoroughly devoured the food from Farley and Sula, both cuisine right out of a magazine. I mean it and I give you no exaggeration, we give it 100/100/. We debated on staying out of the city for a few days but wow I am so happy we did. From the time you arrive, the valet, the front desk, the bell man, everyone associated with Cavallo Point provided a special experience for us and we cannot wait to go back.Our dog also wanted to say a few words: “They “treated” me with a bag of goodies, real quality treats and even brought me a bed and bowls for water and food and treated my as well as my parents. The fields under the golden gate bridge are massive and I ran and ran and ran! Two paws up!”In closing, go here and unwind, relax and enjoy! We did not have time for the spa and I missed the gym while there but it was open 24 hours a day! Thank you again! See you soon!!!
I stayed here for three nights during a business trip. The location is lovely, right on the water and next to the Golden Gate Bridge. The hotels history is interesting, it is an old military base, and it is great to see there are real efforts to keep the historic elements versus change them completely. Some great running routes; you can run up a hill (5-10 mins) to get to the bridge entrance if you want to run/cycle/walk over it. There is some amazing wildlife in the area; one night, we saw an enormous owl sitting on the roof, and deer wandered the grounds at night. During our conference the food was good, healthy options with vegetarian choices included. Customer service was very good. They have electric bikes if you want to explore the area.The hotel is making efforts to reduce plastic. The rooms have refillable bottles and glass refillable bottles for water. However, unfortunately, they still use plastic water bottles in the conference rooms.A really nice stay.
The helpful and friendly staff that works outside made our trip. We loved the History Tour! And we were given lots of help in planning bike rides and hikes. You have to hike in the headlands! Its spectacular!!! Eric can tell you where to go. We love the beauty and nature in the area.The spa is very beautiful. You have to get a treatment to use it, but its worth it.We appreciated the bellman. And the valet parking. Breakfast in bed was awesome!
Beautiful destination just a few miles North of San Fran. Beautiful views of the Bay and Bridge. Great food and service! The accommodations are very nice. Everyone is super friendly. Did not give all five stars because not much for kids to do, hard to find Uber and everything closes on the early side. I should have done more research will return better prepared!!!
Converted from a earlier Army base Ava allow Point is a sprawling property with lots of old officer residences converted to 2, 4, 6 or 8 rooms. So the rooms layouts ca. be awkward. Just 20 mins from SFO across the Golden Gate Bridge you can see the sfo bay as well as the tops of the Golden Gate Bridge. Great venue for company off sites or large gatherings
Beautiful location beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. A beautiful dining room in a renovated antique military building. A beautiful, extensive wine list and tonight a delicious Thanksgiving dinner menu. Service so attentive I felt a little embarrassed.
We wanted to give a family member a Fleet Week experience to remember. I mentioned this to their staff when I made my reservations. They made sure we had rooms that had a GREAT view of the air show. Their room service team also helped set up a picnic lunch for us on the patio. Cavallo Point goes above and beyond to make their guests content. Highly, highly recommend.
If you are looking for a weekend getaway, but still stay closed to the action of San Francisco this is the place to come. They have an amazing location over looking the Golden Gate Bridge with an amazing spa and great restaurants. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to relax and enjoy Sausalito.
Beautiful architecture, beautiful views but so outrageously overpriced for what you get. Our room was scorching hot and there was an old portable ac unit in the closet but nothing hooked up. Rooms also a bit outdated. Guests had to have previously made reservations to have breakfast at the restaurant, which gave it a really arrogant and inconvenient vibe. There were no other food options around so only other way to eat was room service. By the pool you can’t order any drinks and no one comes up to you with any kind of menu. You’re basically ignored by the staff. Don’t think I got a single hello from the people in the spa. Only the valets greeted us very friendly. For the money, absolutely insane.
Great dog-friendly resort! Already our third stay at Cavallo. While we havent stayed in the more modern rooms, we love beautiful historic buildings.
Not everyone gets treated the same.Upon my arrival, my family and I were not greeted nor instructed on where to check in. As you arrive in car and pull into the main building staff was very attentive to Caucasian visitor while ignoring non Caucasian visitors. My 2nd day there my wife and I went for an early breakfast before our spa appointment and was told it would be 15 mins to prepare our take out order. We came back 20 mins later with many more Caucasian people sitting for breakfast and was told to come back in another 20 mins. Suffice to say we canceled our order and went to our spa appointment.After the spa appointment went to sit on the rocking chairs in the Main building only to observe the same treatment I had the day before for all minority arrivals. They were all ignored. 10 visitors pulled up 7 Caucasian groups which were quickly attendrd to while the other 3 parties (latino, Asian indian) were ignored. I asked to speak to the general manager each day and was assured he would get back to me. He never did. In fact at check out when I went to get my receipt he over heard my conversation with the receptionist who apologized for the experience I had. She was nice enough to offer comping our morning breakfast room service to which i politely declined. I expressed my appreciation but reiterated this was about fair treatment for all and not about getting anything comped. As we were speaking, the general manager looked at me, and then rushed into his office. It is clear that he was not looking to give me the time of day and his desire was to keep the status quo. I will never return to this beautiful place. Minority guests beware. Expect 2nd and 3rd tier service.next day walked into Farleys to order an
This was not the place to end a honeymoon - in fact, we left a day early because it was so uninviting. Market this as a cheap hotel with amazing views and I’d stay there. But for now, they’ve got some serious issues to work through before they meet the four star standard.Room was dirty (spiders everywhere) and the hotel wifi is straight from the dial up days. So don’t plan on watching Netflix or getting any work done, even emails. Otherwise the room was fine - bed is comfy and we slept well with the cool bay breeze.But a hotel that markets itself as a resort should be a resort. A $55/day fee (this is all part of the booking materials so not a huge surprise if you read the fine print) simply makes no sense. There’s a gym and a spa, but the spa is only accessed if you pay and every hotel has a gym. So where’s the resort… no lounges overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge with mai tai in hand.Most disappointing was the environment of the place. The first thing the front desk told us was parking wasn’t guaranteed and they had no idea what spacing looked like. The alternative, the bellmen, didn’t greet us with an offer to help with that situation. Second, the restaurant requires reservations… for breakfast. We literally were told a table in an empty restaurant was reserved and then the next day told there were no tables available when we showed up later in the morning. Finally, nobody seemed happy to welcome guests or even wanting to say hello throughout our stay. Not inviting at all.The best time we had during our stay there was exploring the region and watching Elf on cable… but the hotel itself is not a honeymoon getaway for exorbitant prices. Stay away until they sort this mess out.
Stayed over Labor Day weekend and some clothes in the closet. Called front desk 60 minutes after we left to retrieve clothes.They said bellman could not find.Filed report w lost and claim.We were told by a front desk clerk that they found the clothes. So we drove from Gilroy to come back and pick them up.(70 minute s)Whoops she was mistaken no clothes.The manager offered to comp 2 rooms for one night. Great as long as we he rooms were not above kitchen. The value of the clothes were $850.We were placed in rooms above the kitchen.Dishonest house keeping staff and manager,Stay away!
Where do I begin? It’s a specialplace, even magical, due to the employee emphasis on treating you like you’re the only person that matters. I’ve been here twice in the last 15 months to relax and rejuvenate and will be back about every single year for the rest of my life. The spa, hands down, is my #1 recommendation for anyone in need of rest, healing, and/or a look inward. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful, and a short trip if you’re looking for Sausalito or San Fran fun. The historic rooms are soooo comfy. Although I’ve never met the chef, I’m in love. The juevos rancheros breakfast will set the tone for an amazing day, and the crab, corn and pumpkin griddle cakes brought me back every single night - it is a dish that is simply TO DIE FOR. The store is the cutest boutique shop that I’ve ever visited and I always spend too much here. The people that work here, every single day, however, are the reason to return year after year. Angels! Every single one! Thank you Heather, Paula, Laurie, Patrick, Christine, Sherri, Niko, Adrianna and everyone who made me feel like a million bucks and while I didn’t get to see Mari or Tarika this trip, these two women cared for me as though I was their best friend, and I still keep in touch. That’s how special this place and people are. 💕
Fraudulent, ridiculous billing. Disputed for weeks over a $250 charge they couldnt account for. The spa assured me I could try on clothes from their store in my room, then when they didnt fit, they flat out refused to refund my card. I had to spend hundreds of dollars on alternate items I didnt want or need. The restaurant was good, but super slow, took 45min to get a steak because it had to rest. The spa session ended 10min early, because the masseuse was done. Theres no question that the location is stunning, but as a San Francisco native, Id never, EVER stay here again and I deeply regret bringing my hubby here for his bday. Skip this WAY overpriced hotel, and instead support the adorable adjacent yacht club dive bar Travis Marina Bar & Grill.
DO NOT PRE-PAY AT THIS MOLDY MILDEWED HOTEL. They will not honor your reservation and will keep asking for more money. Read the reviews of staff repeatedly stealing items from customers. STAY ELSEWHERE.The rudest, most incompetent staff will attempt to double-charge you, and then threaten you when you refuse to pay their extortion attempt. Cavallo Point Lodge front office are a complete nightmare.The rooms are disgusting. Lodge 204 smells like mildewed carpet and has black mold growing on the bathroom window frames. This hotel tried to book me in a room that was still undergoing repair for $600 per night. Are you kidding me??? DISGUSTED.I called the hotel when I landed from my flight and spoke with a lady at the front desk reception who was alerted I would be arriving late. She responded, Great! We will be waiting for you!Imagine my shock when I arrive after driving 1.5 hours and Sarah at the front desk tells me that she arbitrarily decided to cancel reservations for the evening. What??? She proceeded to lie and pretend that a call was never made to the hotel. When I showed her the call records on my phone, Sarah then tried to gaslight me and invented even more lies. Sarah Heim is THE RUDEST front office staff I have ever encountered staying in hotels throughout the entire world.Even though I prepaid for my reservation, Sarah kept asking for more and more money. Robbery. It took Sarah 30 minutes to locate my name because she kept mis-spelling it, despite me showing her in text and spelling it out for her, she kept threatening that there was no reservation because she was unable to type or read correctly.Because Sarah decided to cancel the reservation, it took 2 hours to recover my booking. The room I was given was still visibly under construction yet I’m supposed to believe costs over $600?? What is wrong with this entire hotel? Because of Sarahs personality issues, Im not surprised that the the staff at Cavallo Point Lodge have horrible internal team communication where nobody is able to remember anything and guest reservations are cancelled or lost.HORRIFIC. Avoid this travesty of hospitality service. I would never recommend to anybody. I hope this place goes completely out of business because they are horrendous and should be defunct.
Beautiful location just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The rooms are well appointed and are built into the old officers homes from World War II.
Farley (ex-Farley Bar) has been refreshed, modernized, and had booths & tables added to accommodate sit-down dining for many more people. Pleasant seating on outside verandah, nice spot to dine, although not a budget destination.
Eureka! We found it…so glad we did. Amazing.Recently had lunch outside on the porch. Fortunately there were heaters aglow to warm us. Super Duper windy. Excellent menu ..great service.. delicious food-per usual.( AND: Based on cocktails on the porch: Divine. The view! Cavallo will always hold a special place in our hearts. It is pricey for the stay but you wont regret it. The location itself is amazing and holds local history of the Bay. There is plenty to do and see while staying at Cavallo and if you dont choose to stay its great for a visit and holds an amazing restaurant that you dont want to miss checking out. Relax and enjoy.
My wife and I have come here many times and always enjoy it. The spa is one of the best in the Bay. Onsite amenities are great and the service is always excellent. Would recommend to others looking for a relaxing and quiet place to stay.
I wanted to stay in this hotel due to the historic aspect. The location is beautiful, and I love how old the place is. However, something just does not sit right about the atmosphere. The hotel is marketed as an upscale hotel, but, the rooms are old and are not really of a five-star standing. Prices are very expensive as well. I found the atmosphere a little pretentious and the staff member that I dealt with on reception was very rude. Its a shame because I loved the location and the historic aspects.
The views are beautiful. However I was booked into a bridge view room and upon arrival I was given a room with no view.Dinner was very mediocre. Food is way overdone. My sword fish was like rubber.Breakfast the service was so slow but the food was OK. I wish this place had better food and better service. Not coming back.
I’d recommend it if it were a 3-star hotel, because the location is stunning. However, the rooms and customer service are subpar. For the nightly rate, it’s hard to justify the value. It’s expensive, yet run by amateurs with visibly little experience in hospitality.The electric bikes are a lovely amenity, however our group of three had them out for less than 2 hours and we had to trek back to the hotel two separate times because we had a bike run out of battery midway to and then again, from our destination, which left our friend stranded on the middle of bunker road. The hotel was fairly unapologetic in resolving this inconvenience.The food at Murray circle is delicious, yet again, it took them 45 minutes to bring us our first round of cocktails. We had finished our appetizers already before we had our first sip.Anyways, it is what it is. We had a nice weekend, but it’s unlikely I’d recommend staying here to anyone, unless you have no other choice.
This place reminds me of a southern plantation. The resort is absolutely beautiful and so it the area surrounding it. if you are trying to find your way around the place at night, however, youll be in for a rude surprise when you realize theres barely any outside lighting enabling you to find your car. Not kidding, it took me a full 40 minutes to locate the parking lot where my car was. Bring a flashlight.
This place was so charming and quiet. The staff was very helpful and kind. We were especially pleased with the food and beverage service at the hotel. Despite COVID, everything (room service / to go) was served beautifully, warm and delicious. Adrian from the Murray Circle was an absolute joy!We took our dog with us and it was heaven for her with all the open space for her to run around in Fort Baker.
Location is terrific. Serene and spacious areas around facility are welcoming. VERY nice staff, especially Elena and Dillon. The cocktail specialties list is fascinating. I had an Officers Club - scotch based - and it was superb. Did not eat but burger looked very good. A winning spot.
One of the very finest hotels in the bay if not the world. Such a hidden gem. Well worth the drive just for lunch in the restaurant if not a weekend getaway or vacation. The peacefulness is striking given its proximity to San Francisco. With amazing views of the Golden Gate and the city. Breathtaking.
Unreal setting and location coupled with an awesome staff. The property has awesome trails and views of the golden gate bridge. Blown away.SF is great, but this spot also puts you just minutes from Sausalito and 25 minutes of Muir Woods. Highly recommend.
The good:Room was excellent. We chose a contemporary room with bridge view. The ceilings soar, the space is perfectly designed, very clean. Lots of power outlets and everything very thoughtfully laid out.- Bathroom: beautiful modern design. shower water pressure a bit light but possibly because of drought conditions. Bath was great. Water temperature great. Theoretically if you stand in a specific spot, hikers on the trail above can see into the bathroom. Did not test it ourselves.- Storage space: Plenty of space for people like me who actually unpack our suitcases. There must have been 15 hangers in the closet! Usually Im lucky if there are 5. Spacious drawers in main room and even in the bathroom.Hiking - nice trails, all walkable from the hotel. Can walk along the water or in the hilly forest, usually both. We walked to Sausalito -- the walk is mostly along the road so we werent immersed in solitude but still quite pretty and there werent many cars out on a Saturday morning - August 2021.Service - on the phone was always great. Knowledgeable and friendly. In person in the lobby I always felt a little unwelcome. The staff is pretty busy and doesnt seem to have time to answer questions in detail. One idea would be to have a separate place for the snacks and wine so that the desk staff can focus on checking in and helping guests.Restaurant service - great. Professional and friendly. Did not feel unwelcome at all. Also there was a mixup one night and we had to wait for our table. The staff was incredibly apologetic and thoughtful and even gave us free salads.Restaurant food - uneven. Really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict with excellent ham. Avocado toast was great too. Swordfish with crab ravioli just had too many incompatible flavors. Desserts were fantastic.The not so good:Web / email service. Maybe because of COVID staff shortages, they arent focusing on their internet presence. My email requesting a change to the reservation was never answered. There are some pretty bad reviews from others here in Google Maps and they should have someone responding to them. (Some reviews seem like theyre for a different hotel -- would be easy to address.) The website indicates that guided hikes cost over $100. I didnt take one so I cant promise they were free, but they were advertised in the lobby with no price showing. And worst of all they have created some digital concierge app that they texted me about. The app has very little information and its chat function always said there was nobody available.Restaurant reservations - if OpenTable says there are no tables, try asking the maitre-d in person. That worked for us (we had reserved both dinners in advance but didnt think to reserve breakfast until we arrived).Restaurant music -- for all the effort I had to put into getting reservations in advance and particularly with the gorgeous decor and elegant service, I dont understand why they play popular music. Classical or jazz would have been so much more enjoyable.
A beautiful resort property overlooking the Golden Gate bridge. The rustic feel of the complex makes you feel like youve been transported into an idyllic oasis, retreating from all the hustle and bustle of normal life, even though youre just minutes from San Francisco.The onsite restaurant is solid and the rooms are nicely appointed though basic.
I head to the spa after a nice gravel cycle in the Headlands twice a year. Always a worthwhile getaway from the city.
This is a great escape from the city. We stayed in one of the old buildings, but it was really well maintained. It was very peaceful and we could bring our dog. Would love to come back for dinner and try one of the more modern rooms on the hillside. They have balconies and look like they offer more natural light.
The stay was ok. We had a great massage at the spa and hung by the pool afterwards. I left a pricey new bathing suit in the spa bathroom and was never able to recover it. They said it wasn’t found. It was really unfortunate as this was 2 days after our wedding for our mini moon. I reached out multiple times until weeks later I finally was able to submit my item description in a lost and found form. I doubt I’ll ever see it again. We stayed in the older classic rooms. Comfortable stay but nothing special. It was nice having the ability to order room service albeit being over priced.
Beautiful place with amazing views. I was lucky to be there on a clear day and could see the SF skyline. The place is meticulously maintained, the rooms are old and creaky, but it has been restored beautifully. The only negative thing about the room was the shower head. The water sprayed everywhere, and the pressure was low.
Five Stars. Hubby and I did a walk thru for potential wedding . Lovely property. Dining: You can dine on the patio or more elegantly, inside. Wonderful service - outstanding menu! Have had lunch inside numerous times. Impeccable - and delicious.Last time - outside: a mom and new baby and carriage and dog off leash sat next to us, her on the phone...we should have moved...Other that than - one of Marins very finest.
I stayed here with my hubby as a gift and it was a very pleasant stay and the service was great. Cold temperature during June but warm greetings. ☺️ We also loved being able to take one of those Lexus for a spin!
Rooms are pricey but worth it for a special occasion like anniversary, birthday or retirement. Lots to do nearby and scenerys amazing.
This place is an absolute gem! My husband brought me here as surprise gift along with the cooking class, and Ive been raving to everyone ever since.Lets start with the location and facilities. Absolutely gorgeous. As a Bay Area local, I forget how beautiful this area can be. With its views of the Golden Gate and the serene nature of the property, you will forget where you are. The food is phenomenal (try their house-made pasta), the service was great, and they have a fair amount of amenities added in, including access to their spa pool, hiking trails, and yoga.Do not be scared off by the price--it is worth every penny! And if you can come to one of the cooking classes, you will not be disappointed. I cant wait for my next stay!
The hot tub is in a good spot. The view is beautiful. You can get a great view of the Golden gate bridge. It is only a few minutes walking, so you can see it up close. The rooms higher on the hill all have full windows which give a great view. The area is very windy. It is much cooler than nearby areas. Definitely bring an extra jacket.
Great place with a great view. Just be aware that the pictures show a view of the Golden gate Bridge but your room isnt actually with a view. That requires a huge upgrade free. Also, the fitness room costs more even though there is already a resort fee. The pastries at breakfast were good and the staff was friendly.
The lodge was beautiful, quiet, and a great place for our professional meeting. The staff was helpful, friendly, and courteous. The food was great. In fact everything was great, so the 4/5 rating is only because its not the fanciest, but for a more rustic setting it was basically perfect.
We’ve stayed here multiple times and it is a lovely setting. The largest flaw is their lack of a pool (they have a “meditation” pool which is tiny and located inside their adults-only spa). We love the proximity to the Bay Area Discovery Museum for our children which is across the field. The parking is also a nuisance since you have to valet your car and get a ride to your room every time you leave.
Its a really nice set of facilities and grounds. The downsides are that there is no AC so on warm days it is miserable and the grounds are fairly noisy. Additionally, we had a premium recently remodeled room and the walls and floors block very little sound. So we heard our neighbors talking until midnight.
Im giving five stars for the category of historic lodge. Not an expert in this category, but it was by far the best of the few that Ive stayed at over the years. What a beautiful location and so close to SF. Rooms were quite elegant. Food was great, but youve got some pretty stiff competition across the bay. People were great. Ideal for that quick weekend getaway where your looking to shed some stress. Oh, and for that extra stress relief, they have a very nice spa service too.
Lovely place. Ive seen 3 rooms, both the older rooms and the new ones and they are all very nice. The staff is courteous and helpful. The food is good as well. And the view of the bay and city is absolutely beautiful. Worth a stay.
Beautiful setting. Fantastic views. Good places to eat and drink. A unique gift shop. Real cool lodging. Super expensive. We go hiking in Marin and then have lunch there. Outdoor seating. Lots of fun.
The lodge is situated at Fort Baker so its very spread out. I was attending a meeting and our meeting room was the old chapel. It was a bit difficult to find the building. But it was a great setting and the view was amazing. It was my first visit, so Im not used to the layout, which is the only reason I didnt give it a 5 star rating.
Worst reservation system in the world. You leave messages on their voicemail and they dont call back. When you finally get to speak to a live reservationist, they appear to be taking calls for the Lodge and do not know specifics. They encourage you to book online - which speaks for itself. I stayed at the Inn Above Tide after this and had a fabulous stay with Bay views, complimentary Continental breakfast brought to your room, a bottle of wine and cheese delivered to your room in the early evening. Youre staying in Sausalito a block from Poggio. Try this place if you want to feel your stay is truly appreciated.
I’ve been a huge fan of Cavallo Point and stayed on multiple occasions: vacation, wedding night, even scheduled my company retreats here. Currently sitting in a hotel room that was $800+ (Labor Day weekend) to get some quiet solace on the anniversary of my husband’s passing and being forced to listen to the blues. I guess they are have Blues & Brews events. It didn’t start until 11am but sound checks were happening earlier. And last night there was a wedding with music that was also annoying. So quiet wasn’t an option.So my tips: make sure there isn’t a music event and book all reservations for the spa & dining weeks in advance. I couldn’t get a spa or dining reservation 2 days before my stay.
Great place to stay, in my opinion the price is too expensive for what you get, they also charge you an extra hotel fee per each night that is not in the initial price so yo have to take that into account. The place is very special, the hotel has free rental e-bikes and SPort lexus that you can drive for three hours, i really enjoy my vacations on the Cavallo Point Lodge however is very expensive
I used to love Cavallo and come once per quarter as a little retreat from the city until their valet brought my car back covered in tree sap. I had just done an expensive detailing and they werent apologetic. I asked the GM to cover it ($200) or at least for a discount on my stay or next stay and nothing was offered. I probably spent $2k per visit, or $8k per year, and now wont come back. Very short-sighted on their part.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night and overall had a great time. The room was very comfortable and the grounds were beautiful. The only negative we experienced was upon check-in. Our room which was guaranteed to be ready at 4 p.m was not actually given to us until 5 p.m. We then had to rush to make our dinner reservation at 5:45.
My go-to place in Marin, amazing staff, restaurants and location. The property is perfect with the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, great trails, and adirondack chairs for taking in the view.Relax on your front porch, visit the spa or grab a seat outside in one of the many locations and take it all in.
Beautiful location with the quintessential Golden Gate view. The rooms in the older houses are very large and redone with a classic decor. The bar is a bit tight, so not great for a large group (unless you have the whole place rented). Fire pits are a fun place to relax in the evening as are the rocking chairs that are on every porch. If you are looking for activities you can take part in the planned activities or do a self guided hike/walk. Sausalito is a 5 min ride away with plenty of bars and restaurants.
Great cocktails.Murray circle restaurant not the best . Food was great wine list amazing. Service was sketchy, bad communication with the kitchen. Not waiters fault entirely.But, this is a must go to venue.Show up an hour early and have a cocktail on the veranda with a view of the golden gate Bridge. Stupendous!
Beyond wonderful staff --- I actually ended up somewhat stranded - so to speak - here because my phone died -- But let me tell you --- This place is absolutely adorable!There are sooo many features and activities to dive into whether you are 70 or 30, this place will definitely have you pampered and relaxed feeling youthful and vibrant as if you were in your 20s again...A beautiful home away from home...The staff were exceptional --- I was never treated as a guest -- But BETTER!The place sits right along the coast line of the San Francisco Bay in walking or e-bike route that rests right alongside the San Francisco Bridge --- the views here are beyond magnificent!There is soo much I could say about this heavenly place of a lodge and the dining and room service experience 😳🧘🏾♂️🧘🏾♂️ its more of a pampering hotel because they are too kind beyond words!I highly recommend Honey Mooners or if you are out to escape from the busy city ☝️☝️☝🏼☝🏽☝🏾 this is the place to be --Now get off this review, book a room, and Go enjoy the Cavallopoint Experience!!!Heavenly
Beautiful hotel in an historic and absolutely gorgeous setting. Depending on your room you may have to hike up a hill, but dont let it discourage you. Beautiful views of the Golden gate bridge and easy access to Sausalito and the Marin Headlands

I cant really give a full review as they were in the process of kitchen renovation during our visit so the menu was limited. Hard to beat the setting: expansive view of the Bay, GG Bridge, and picturesque Fort Baker. Service was good but not quite 5-star quality.
Beautiful grounds and lovely views with fresh clean ocean breezes. Attentive staff once assistance is requested. It was nice to bring our family dog and find a pet friendly resort with comfortable accommodations and nice outdoor areas for walking. The location of this resort is everything.While unpacking, we discovered a used washcloth and what looked like a used wet toilet wipe stuffed into a drawer in the bathroom. The front desk apologized when notified and sent housekeeping who let themselves in with a key and apparently walked in to the bathroom and removed it. My 12 year old witnessed the incident and said the housekeeper apologized and then left. No further action was taken. Seriously?? This incident left us with a bad opinion of the overall service and facility.This resort has been on my list of must stay, but after the wash cloth incident it is unlikely well return.
Hotel was nice and views were good. The breakfast pastries were excellent. It was nice to have espressos in the room. It was just a little pricey for what was offered in terms of amenities. The service was great.
Breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco horizon. The venue has a quiet and heavy magic that is rare. The rooms & amenities are decadent and the cooking class from Chef Tony Adams was informative and wonderfully fun team building with a delicious finish. The service is world class.
Its kind of the perfect resort. Its a quick drive from anywhere in Bay Area (traffic notwithstanding) and so much to do here or closeby. Its serene setting with outstanding views of Golden Gate and SF Bay. This place is a gem hidden in plain site. Do not tell anyone about it; Id hate to see it get crowded. ;-)

Fantastic little get away tucked in Sausalito. I live in the Bay Area and this place feels like you arent even in the Bay Area anymore besides seeing the water, Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline of course. Located on Fort Baker near the US Coast Guard Base and Cavallo Point literally used to house soldiers and their families. The lodge had historic buildings turned into hotel units and newer modern buildings. The Contemporary Rooms have a view of the Golden Gate while the Historic Rooms have a view of the SF Skyline. In the contemporary rooms, each room has a jacuzzi type tub. Big enough for a 61, 220lb man (me) to sit in and almost stretch their legs out comfortably but regardless, still comfortable. Bring a bath bomb! Room is maintained well with a balcony/patio area looking into the center of Cavallo Point facing the GG, fireplace in room, large flat screen TV, overhead fan, desk area, and high ceilings.Valet is free of charge but they do work off tips. You can also self park but parking is located a good distance from the actual room if you are staying in contemporary lodging. You can park right next to the historic buildings. If you have a contemporary room, I suggest dropping off your bags at valet, parking your vehicle and then checking in. Or just tip the valet.Located on the property is a restaurant, a shop, a full service bar, spa, and 24hr gym. The restaurant is boutique and offer a limited selection but the menu is big enough for adults and kids to enjoy a nice dinner. An expensive dinner but not break the bank dinner. The shop has mostly knick knacks and touristy items, not a whole lot of use in my opinion. Even the good they sold were limited to Kombucha, Canned Wine, Sparkling Water, chocolate covered pretzels etc. The spa is Legit. Definitely an upscale spa with a meditation pool located outside, outside grass area where you can choose to be serviced as well and a snack/refreshment store inside. Check it out. The gym offers peloton bikes (multiple), cable machine, free weights from. 10lb-50lb, a couple treadmills, elliptical, yoga mats and Balls, foam rollers, TRX, and weighted balls. Enough to get a solid workout in. I ran around the property which Is a fantastic run if you enjoy running.On top of the above, you can also rent electric bikes from the lobby, a Lexus vehicle for 3 hours. All free of charge. A literal vehicle to take into the city to get away or go sight seeing etc. A nice Lexus as well. Definitely a plus!
Beautiful location for the event I attended. Gorgeous views of the bridge for a lovely family photo shoot before sunset. Staff were kind & helpful. They even offered to bring me a playpen to put my 6 month old in during the dinner at the event. Totally unexpected & thoughtful!
Great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline. Free self parking was easy to find. Conference rooms are drab and theres only one restroom on the first floor in the main building. Great service but building shows its age
Serenity!! This place is all that you need to detach. We stayed at the contemporary side of the lodge. The views of golden gate bridge are phenomenal! The spa was great, the grounds gorgeous.. well be back for sure!!

Great location, clean grounds, and clean rooms. That said, everything is more complicated than it needs to be. Turned out sitting down for breakfast requires reservations, even if tables are available. Service is slow. Pretty expensive, but I suppose that because youre right next to the Golden Gate Bridge.
We recently held our wedding at Cavallo Point and it was truly unforgettable. Lorraine Salceda and the events team were so attentive, helpful, and easy to work with, and made the planning process seamless and easy…especially in the midst of all the uncertainty associated with event planning in a pandemic. The service and food were wonderful, and the resort itself provided an unforgettable, relaxing, and iconic backdrop that our families thoroughly enjoyed.
The view is nice, but the hotel is noisy and you will wake up with the fog horn every morning. There is no AC or heater. The Murray restaurant is nice but waaaay overpriced, but food is delicious. My husband ordered a sandwich in the room and was gross and freezing cold, and wasn’t written in the menu the steak sandwich was cold. We took the shuttle to Sausalito which was nice, but we are now waiting around for the shuttle to pick us up and the driver did not show up. We called twice and have been waiting for 50 minutes now. Just called an uber. The hotel is ok and staff are friendly. But certainly not worth the money we spent. I stayed in far better hotels for the same price.
After attending a business event here, I was absolutely stunned by the beauty. While the location is truly breathtaking just overlooking the city and the bridge, its clear that the team works to go above and beyond to make guests stay truly enjoyable and exciting. I would love to go back for an overnight stay and attend some of the activities that they feature daily (yoga, biking, etc)
Awesome scenery and amazing food. You cant wish for more. The staff are really nice professional. It is expensive though but with the view and strategic location next to the Golden Gate Bridge, it is well worth it. I am glad I visited.
Beautiful resort in Sausalito. Amazing view of both the bay bridge and golden gate. They have various Lexus vehicles that you can borrow for a night out or to drive into the city. The rooms have fire places and the valet and service is incredible.

Cavallo Point is beyond amazing and beautiful! If one should get to stay here, its a special experience. Especially during the Christmas holiday. Stay in the Historic rooms if you can, it adds to the experience. And if you come in the late fall / early winter, you will very often get clear sunny days, and with these views you want them! The staff is amazing as well. Very friendly, kind and helpful. This is my second Holiday visit here, and its top of my list for favorite places to stay!
We love Cavallo Point. Its beautiful and peaceful tucked under the Golden Gate. The rooms are so comfortable. I always sleep so well there. The bar and restaurant so good and entertaining. A top rated resort.

Simply beautiful! The staff is waiting happily at the door with a huge smile and a friendly welcome. The views are absolutely breath taking. Theres an art gallery, restaurant ane boutique store on the resort grounds. They are also part of the Lexus Partnership. Its a very short ride to the city. I would recommend Cavallo Point Lodge to anyone traveling to San Francisco.
There was no experience to describe! We had reserved a luxurious room online and before we left our house to take the 3 hour drive we called to on firm our reservation and to make sure our room was going to be available and ready. Everything checked out so we were on our way. Upon arriving it appeared to be a nice family friendly environment although everything looked outdated for what they charge. When we go to check in theyes told us that there had been a mistake and our room was not availabe. They moved us into a different room and said they would give us a free night. We get to that room and decided that there was no way we were going to pay that much for a basic room! Very basic! Not to mention parking is ridiculous. So we asked for a refund and went and stayed in a Hilton with the room that we were more then satisfied with. We are still waiting for our refund because we paid for it online
I used to be involved with this place during construction, but have no association for about 10 years. Ive been lucky enough to experience a lot of luxury properties with high-end spas, and I admit this is a place that has something extremely special, and its situated in a world-class place, with Incredible service-oriented hospitality. Restaurant, hotel, or Spa, its absolutely gorgeous and a wonderful experience.
Always a winner in comfort, ambiance, and food! It was our first time going back after almost 1 year.... And it was as if everything had continued at the exact pleasure and joy that we all remembered it to be. The service was on point! Drake was our server he was so thoughtful, kind, attentive and fast! My favorite was how thoughtful he was with our 11 year old. So professional.We were a family of three went on a Monday evening and had no problem getting a table. We did call ahead and just confirmed. Currently there is limited indoor eating and patio dinningWe ordered a childs grilled cheese for our daughter, I had the short ribs and my husband ordered the umi fries. The creme brulee And the chocolate cake 4 beers( blind pig ipa on tap sooooooooo good)and a cappuccino!!! ( Full disclosure we had eaten a little earlier because were still a little covid shy)But please dont pre eat if you go here. Its still dependable food that looks amazing and tastes great! Not to mention amazing covid protocols!Thanks Cavalio team! Will be coming more often!
I book this hotel for 3 days. It charge me around $2000(note this is late July) . I was pretty happy about it, until several hours later, I got a refund. I call the hotel to ask them why and a guy(with attitude) told me that the simply sold my room. GREAT. I went to book other hotel, and all were sold out at that time. I went lowkey desperate. I know I sounds kinda dramatic, but this is disgusting.
Beautiful accommodations set in nature which is so lovely when you are trying to get away from the big city.Was disappointed that we werent able to get in for dinner at the restaurant, (overbooked) so we had to jump in a car & drive to a restaursnt (not ideal when trying to relax from the stress of week) The pool was closed (but yet we were still charged a $48 resort fee). Altho, there was cool looking firepit that seemed to be available.
The rooms here are very lovely (especially the contemporary ones) and the locale is the perfect jumping off spot for great hiking, but if you just want a quick getaway, just visit the spa for a treatment, some poolside lounging, and a snack in the spa cafe. This is one of the best spas in SF Bay area. Youll feel new again.
Awesome place. Plenty of character in the historic buildings (be sure to ask), comfort and class. Plus, they have plenty of locations to charge my electric car.Great food, scenery and service. Highly recommended.
Bed was really comfy. Front desk was helpful when there was a silver dollar sized spider in our bed that got away and they switched our rooms) we had a 3 year old sleeping with a spider was not an option. But the place is way over priced and the food at the restaurant is maybe 3 stars.
Had brunch at the restaurant and everything about it was memorable. The food, drinks, service and ambiance were all on point. Definitely recommend this place for a special meal, but make reservations if you dont want an hour or so wait!
Paid for a contemporary king assuming it would be a nicer newer room but the cabinets in the bathroom are water damaged and even came complete with toothpaste residue in the drawer.Made the mistake of asking for a beautiful view so they made a point of giving me the worst view they had and then offered me the same room upstairs from this one with the same view but $75 more a nightYou will probably do better not to ask so they don’t see an opportunity to squeeze more money out of you
First time staying at this refurbished officers quarters, in the middle of the GGNRA (Golden Gate National Recreation Area). Great suite rooms, great meeting space, terrific restaurant. Absolutely stunning beauty, with a view of the Golden Gate and the SF skyline.
5 star venue. Lovely views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Great service at the reception, concierge and restaurant. I would gladly come back to Cavallo.
Wow! The amenities, view, and guest services are second to none. We stayed the weekend and will definitely visit again. We stayed in a historic 2 bedroom and it was simply incredible. Breakfast at the restaurant was delish and the spa is wonderful!
The worst experience! Over $400 per night for a hot stuffy room with no AC. Skeleton staff despite high prices meaning I had to drag my suitcases up and down stairs as there was no staff available to help. The woman at reception was rude with attitude and told me someone would help me in a minute. 30mins passed and I collected my luggage myself, as I was at risk of missing my flight if I waited any longer. She was totally unhelpful and as I said with attitude. I realise we are in extraordinary circumstances with COVID but still charging high prices should come with appropriate service.
The restaurant food and view was great but the service was horrible. Took them forever to bring the champagne and it was almost at the end of our meal, the food was brought with such a Long gap that half the guests had to wait and the rest got cold. Anything we asked for would take so long to bring and the server had a bad attitude.
Our family just stayed there the last 8 days and had the most incredible time at the resort. Everything about Cavallo Point is first class but most especially the wonderful people who work there. Every person with whom we came in contact with was a super person. Nancy DuBois, their concierge, planned our week out there and everything about the trip exceeded our expectations! She is simply the best!
We have dined in the spectacuar restaurant numerous times - each time over the moon, fabulous meals and superior service.( Except the one waiter /porch/ who complained how hard he worked) Did a walk through of the property witht the mother of the bride...looked at sleeping rooms and function space. Impressive - sleeping rooms seemed very cold and austere.Function space was lovely.Would return at the drop of a hat. Love drinks on the porch at sunset... Heard the spa is great.Really One of Marins Top Three Restaurants.
Spent the day at Cavallo Point Spa, gorgeous grounds & view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin side of the bay. Started off with yoga and the rest of the day enjoying the Spa, wonderful service and so relaxing cant wait to go back oh and their fish tacos are the best
Lucky. Thats what I am alright. 2 nights and 3 days for a work event, and good God, its a special place.You can slightly tell it was an old Army base in its design, but in no way is it bunk beds in barracks. The ol Fort Baker has transformed successfully into into an award-winning San Francisco luxury lodge.Everything from the Car Valet to check-in to the served food was outstanding. The room was a large 2-bedroom with huge living room and all the sundries were nothing short of being fantastic.Murray Circle (for eats) and the Farley bar (brews, wine, cocktails, and football) had great vibes, a little overpriced, but thats okay.I was also able to bring my gf and pup, and we celebrated her birthday well...on works dime no less. We all enjoyed each moment, highlighted by gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and breakfast and lunch on their outdoor porch patio.#LOVEDANDDIDNTWANTTOLEAVE
We visited for lunch and had an issue where the host seated an angry customer who was after us on the wait list ahead of us. We had 3 children under 2, so ended up having to leave without lunch as a result. We did enjoy a cocktail on their porch, which was beautiful.
It is a beautiful setting with tons to do with family and friends. Food sounded fancy, but was subpar...french fries immediately went cold. Eggs went cold quickly the pancakes were too sweet. Bacon was waxy. Only thing realy good were the beverages

Oasis just over the bridge from SF. Lodging has character and great surroundings. Food is excellent but loses a star because there could be more vegetarian options. If you like to run or hike there are some great routes right there.
We stayed at the lodge for a wedding two weeks ago in one of the historical mansions, and it was amazing! Not only was the view leading into the park and surrounding areas amazing, but the staff was absolutely top notch. They were courteous and polite and attentive and wonderful. We stayed in one of the suites with my parents and children, and could not have been happier.That Saturday night before we left, I had lost my diamond tennis bracelet in our room that I received as a gift for my wedding some years back, that also belonged to my grandmother. I thought for sure it was gone forever, even after I spoke with the staff, who also spoke with their entire staff about it. I filed a report, also a police report, and had to go back home.Andrew Baskin, one of the main managers at Cavallo Point, along with Catherine who is part of their security team, FOUND my bracelet after over two weeks of it missing. I could not believe it. They contacted me today and informed me they would over-night it to me. Although still in shock, I could not be more pleased. The service, care and tenderness that the staff gave to me was above and beyond what I ever could have expected.I highly, HIGHLY recommend this hotel. If I could give it ten stars, I would. Its beautiful, serene, quiet, and a wonderful place to relax. And if you have kids, you absolutely must go to the Discovery Museum which is located on the property as well. That is seriously a must see.Thank you everyone at Cavallo Point for making our stay so enjoyable, and thank you for finding my beloved bracelet. I can not thank you enough. xx
Beautiful hotel. Historic Army fort overlooking the bay literally under the Golden Gate Bridge, converted to a hotel Attended a wedding here. Stayed in a suite in the former Post Commanders residence. Gorgeous.
Really enjoyed our time here, with the cooking class, twice in a week... they did not blink an eye with our two dogs (new puppy) and we had a great time. The location is special to us and the whole place exceeds our expectations each time.

Some of the best views of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge and Bay. Sunset and sunrise were unbeatable. We returned to the room to find our sheets turned down and lavender spritz available to relax if we wanted it. Chocolate at the bedside, and the shampoo and body wash were lavender too, very relaxing, but very pricey hotel. I recommend you walk down to the marina and to the old battery in the evening or early morning.
Idyllic location. Was there for a business meeting and it couldnt be a better location. The room and the food were great. Not sure how much it cost since I was a guest at the meeting, but would definitely suggest checking it out as an option for just about anyone.Highly recommended.

Very slow service. Awful towels. Overpriced.It’s pretty weird that you need to make a reservation for breakfast and they look at you like you’re crazy when you walk in. Strange pretentious vibe even thought it’s a pretty rustic spot.

We have been coming to Cavallo Point every year since it opened. I have to say it has really gone downhill and this visit was the worst. We booked way in advance and asked for the same room and area that we have enjoyed for years. This visit we were put in a room in rhe back with a view of nothing but the back of other rooms. We asked for a check to see of something else was available but the people the reception desk didnt seem to know how to even check. We will not be coming back. The rooms are looking worn and seemed dirty too. There are definately rooms here you just dont want to get, too noisy, no view, no privacy, etc. For the price this place has become a rip off. Save your money and enjoy the view from the restaurant and stay else where.
Rooms are amazing and the view is great. Its close enough to SF to go to but a nice escape when youre sick of the city. Also many great hikes nearby.
One of the most stunningly beautiful and authentic collection of lodging, drinking, dining, biking, strolling, boating and sightseeing that we have ever found. The lodge is amazing, the bar and food is 4 start (at least), and the service was 4-to-5 star.

This is a wonderful place to stay for the weekend. The amenities are numerous and the views from the rooms are spectacular. If you can, get one of the officers quarters for a spacious stay.
The bar here makes the best Bloody Mary Ive ever had. I went for a prix fixe Thanksgiving Day which was really excellent. Parking is easy and the area has a great view of the city.

Would be a 5 star review but for the little things. I should be out enjoying the beautiful place, enjoying the nature hikes. Spa and fitness center were great. The bar while overpriced had good service and ambiance. The room was great, except. Internet access was spotty at best. A cisco guest solution with a captive portal that didnt work half the time and was slow when it did was incredibly frustrating. A tv with aux input disabled meant I couldnt play a film from my laptop when the internet access didnt work. Good job on getting 80% of the way there. The last 20% matters and being cheap on internet and trying to make an extra few percent on tv made this experience considerably less enjoyable for me. Hopefully someone from Cavallo Point reads this and realizes the extra $1.27 they made on me watching a movie wasnt worth it.
Pleez do your own reservaions and stop the third party especially for repeat customers. I thought I was talking to Cavallo and instead it went thru reservations.com and I am having a major dispute.I had a very serious bike injury, the Lodge was very UNDERSTANDING, but Reservations.com is not the way to go..........
We had dinner at Chef Tony Adams Chefs Counter last night. It was one of the most amazing experiences ever. The Cavallo Point Cooking School offers this once a month for 6 people only.Its a 3 hour dining adventure where you are treated like royalty while Chef Tony prepares all courses in front of you, explaining everything he is doing and carrying on a conversation with the guests.Tonys passion for food and outgoing personality is infectious and the food, well, its unique and unlike anything Ive ever tasted. He spends over 2 weeks planning the menu for this one evening a month.Stunning. If you have the opportunity to attend, take it!
Awesome place! Lots to do, see, etc. A dream day trip or vacation...But very expensive. You can go upscale or picnic lunch. Just beware its a very expensive place so be prepared first.

Really quiet a beautiful place. We just had drinks at the bar but we all go a a delicious and unique drink. The table favorite was the house mule. We are really liked the umami popcorn.

Great Valentines weekend at Cavallo Point. Ive been here many times for work but never for a personal trip. My girlfriend and I loved the hotel, food and atmosphere.

Great location near to the Golden Gate, awesome place very open and classic. There two kinds of room but go for the classic. There is also a restaurant with very basic food, well prepared. Depending on the day you stay classes are given, just go or apply for free.

Bathtubs didnt release the water, we had to shower twice in dirty water, even after call complaint twice about the problem nobody showed up to fix it.Its really say to get a bad service at such a beautiful place
This is a gem of a hotel hidden away twenty minutes across the golden gate bridge. Away from the hustle and bustle of city traffic a good nights sleep with peace and quiet walk outside breathe pure air straight off the oceon stay here and revive your will to live.

Good food, but I would still rate other high end places higher. Service was a bit sloppy but mostly Im nitpicking. Definitely take a look at their menu. In my opinion their tasting menu is better. Website is horrible though.

The historic room was inviting and the views were like the brochures! This photo shows the view from INSIDE room 702, so you can imagine it from the porch or from any of the short walks.

2023-11-19 00:13:34This place is one of the most relaxing, beautiful, peaceful, amazing places I have ever had the pleasure of visiting! We didn’t want to leave. We came for a family visit and made so many beautiful memories here! It’s brilliantly located and was so easy getting into the city or up to the woods! We stayed in the newer construction in the back that have the Bridge views which was a whole other experience In itself. Do not hesitate to book your stay here you will NOT REGRET IT!!!!!

2023-11-19 03:32:55This place is heaven on earth. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the kindest staff and most beautiful views. There are a ton of activities to do throughout your stay. The on campus restaurants are to die for. Be sure to make a reservation for Sula because it gets super busy! Rudy was our waiter and we were blown away with how knowledgeable and professional he was. The spa is a great experience and with each night you stay at Cavallo, you get a free 2 hour spa session to enjoy the hot tubs, steam rooms, tea, etc. Be sure to stop by the newly restored bowling alley for free old fashioned bowling and a drink! We walked everywhere, which we loved, but you also have amenities like free e-bikes and free car rentals. I will absolutely be coming back. This place rocks.

Valet parking is included, complimentary glass of wine, free wifi, nature walks, history tours, complimentary bicycles, and friendly, helpful staff.However, be prepared to pay a premium! Just a simple sandwich, fries, and a coke cost me $65 bucks!I cant comment on the rooms because it was a business meeting I attended, but I suspect the rooms are very nice!

2023-11-22 01:02:23My wife and I had a relaxing two nights there on a quick get away. We got massages at the Spa (those were incredible), and we both slept in. Were well rested. The room was comfortable and had every amenity that you would expect. I recommend staying here since its quiet and feels a little secluded but is so close to Sausalito and just over the bridge from the Presidio.

Very dog friendly -- our pup loved the big field the middle of the property and the great walking paths. It was a very short and easy drive into San Francisco and Sausalito. Highly recommend!

Salmon good how we specified, nice!Very hot day which is rare but we enjoyed front row seats to the Blue Angels practice for their weekend shows. Pretty amazing to see with a view of San Francisco and The Golden Gate.Love this spot for lunch.

2023-08-11 16:20:47My husband and I stayed a weekend here with our dog to have a little getaway from the busy city for his birthday. Spencer checked us in, and was super friendly. We had a really nice time! Im not sure if well come back, but maybe. While the location is beautiful and has great access to hiking trails, the food is priced too high for its mediocrity. Its hotel food, definitely. We ended up resorting to delivery on our last night. We also both had a massage, and their center is quite lovely. We forgot bathing suits and didnt notice they sold some there until we were leaving, bummer!

2023-08-06 22:36:18The first choice from now on for all get always short and long. We’re planning a corporate retreat after my wife and I spent a week there, recently. The entire experience was as if we lived there. Ask:it arrives. The night auditor and concierge were particularly helpful and operate with servants hearts. The food produced by chef what’s his name (we met in the gift shop with our Weimaraner Zoe) was better than mine my wife said and I agreed. I think I tried everything. This property is one of our favorites because we are originally from the Bay Area and to visit Cavallo Point is like visiting with friends. In one day we met a fantastic couple while getting coffee, pastries and joking with the front desk team. Then around noon we met some woman with a dog and she ended up touring our home like accommodations then hung out on the porch enjoying the cool breeze and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge all while the dogs sunned. In the evening grab a blanket at the front desk and hit the huge fire pit where there’s a secret society after hours of our own making. Just like having our own lodge. And! There was a wedding and reception on Saturday night while we were there and still AAA+ service as if we were the only ones. Have coffee in the art gallery in the morning or in the rocking chairs looking at the mouth of the golden gate. I wish I lived there.
