This was the worst Indian food we have ever had. We lived in London UK and Redmond, WA. Everything we tried was watery and bland. Biryani was like a gloopy mess. Aloo gobi was sad to look at and eat. Only Okra dish was ok. $95 is too much for this food.

Delicious hot food, quick and kind service. No lunch buffet on Sunday (not sure about other days). Menu on google not reflective of actual prices. Bargained for a side of rice.Wish I could try a lot of their items but it was pricey to have one. Hope they can stay afloat.

Nice waiter, vintage style half circle booths with comfy & private couches, food yummy, yet plain though some great variety of dishes that you don’t usually find even in more classy Indian restaurant like Aloh Paratha to die for, Papadum or Mint Lassi! Impressive :) loved it :)Pity, the owner could invest a bit into his business: and turn it into authentic vegetarian Jewel in the middle of Santa Monica.(To work on: interior, graphic design menue & ambience: no curtain on the curtain road, a bit too loud music, handwritten signs hanging on the wall: it’s ok to have that ‘home-made’ level in Indian province, but in West of LA? Diluted Mango lassi was a bit disappointing - but it balanced out deliciously - cooked food)Despite that, the attentive sweet waiter was calm, very friendly, allowed a dish modification and explained the differences to my partner.Good luck guys, I really wish this cute place could be upgraded.The visit totally worth the price:20$ for 2 people Thali in authentic metallic set with the yummiest Garlic Naan., 5$ for 2x of Delicious Samosa! In the reviews people were mentioning buffet style lunch, on their website it was saying 4 entries + drink+ bread 13 dollars. so i didnt know which was one was correct and I went to that place. food was ok, however the sizes are VERY SMALL! its the same like dinner on a plane! i just wanted to have a little bit more of a dish since the sizes were very small, they refused!! come on you wont get bankrupt for handing out an extra dish!! 15 dollars for plane dinner is too much! because of covid they dont have buffet style anymore. i think thats a lie. because through the new system, paying for every single item, they make much more money than buffet style. we customers are NOT silly.

At first, my family and I were hesitant about visiting this place, but we ultimately decided to give it a try. And boy, were we glad we did! Our orders of #31, #37, and #44 were all amazing. The lentils and mushroom dish, in particular, were absolutely delicious. In addition to the great food, our waitress was both friendly and funny, making our experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Great authentic Indian vegetarian restaurant. This is my regular place to eat when I visit Santa Monica. Easy to notice from road . Free Parking is at rare side. Quick and courteous service. Food sometimes tastes rich. Sometimes bland. Spacious seating available. Love mango Lassi and Naan.

Service is really good, the staff is courteous and polite. Ambience is pleasant and calm. Food, however, is just ok. I went there for dinner, it seems like they use the same gravy for all the vegetables. Malai kofta is not good, naan was good and paneer was ok. Other than food (which was ok), everything else was perfect. Overall I recommend to try once.

I was unaware Chandni was vegetarian when I walked by and contemplated leaving instead of ordering as I’m about as close to a carnivore as you can be. I’m sure glad I didn’t. The food and service were excellent. We will definitely be returning.

They don’t have any variety and the food was tasteless. Tofu in the veggie had a peculiar smell and was sour, when asked they said it’s onion sauce. We barely had anything. Kheer and naan was decent enough. Don’t recommend it to anybody. Big Thumbs down!

We ordered food last night for the first time and it taste very bad. In curry there was no flavor except raw flavor of onion and garlic. It tasted horrible. We also ordered rice biryani in which all the vegetables tasted raw. It seems like they just mix every thing and serve, dont cook. I dont know if they serve rice with curry or not but there was no rice with any of the curry. Half of the order is still untouched but I dont have any hopes with that as well. I would rather give rating in negative. We choose this place based on good review given by other people but our first experience was horrible.

Delicious meal and excellent value. If youre looking for Indian food thats well prepared, give this place a try. Had the matar paneer which was tasty, along with the garlic naan and rice. Chandni has been a favorite restaurant ever since I moved to their neighborhood many years ago. Im an omnivore, and truly appreciate great vegetarian food. I love spicy food, and choose very hot spices when Im with others who like the heat. I also enjoy their mild and medium levels of spice. The food is flavorful in ways that dont require heat that some find painful. The staff are all great and its a welcoming place.

This is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in LA. The food is all vegetarian, but is nonetheless very flavorful and is cooked to order mild, medium or spicy. The curries are excellent, naan is fresh and the samosa is very good as well.The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and courteous and the interior of this place is a very interesting, classic style. This restaurant is quite well-priced, especially considering its located in Santa Monica. Free parking in the back.

Have been visiting this place for nearly 30 years and photos do not do justice to the quality of food. Fresh and doesn’t leave you feeling heavy or bloated. Paneer dishes are awesome, but their yellow dad tadka and vegetable rice have been long-time favourites. Take-out food stills taste great a day after, but loved lunch buffet and in-house dining before Covid19 hit. Place hasn’t changed much over the years. In this case, that is wonderful. The place for Vegan or vegetarian Indian food in Santa Monica. Have seen a lot of celebrities here over the years. This year, it was Ms. Newkirk from PETA just before pandemic hit. Lots of long-time customers and regulars.

My friend and I went to this place on a Sunday evening. There was literally no one in the restaurant except us. We ordered vegetarian platter for appetizer and some paneer curry and naan. Everything was super bad. The veg platter was so oily and overcooked. The paneer curry was so watery and the naan was burnt. Also my friend and I had food poisoning after eating at this place. Ate dinner there last night. This is an unusual restaurant - North Indian cuisine, but completely vegetarian. Decor & atmosphere were clean & comfortable, but unassuming. The food was _excellent_. The dishes had just the right amount of salt and oil (many Indian restaurant chefs know that an extra dash of salt and an extra stick of butter can make up for mediocre cooking) - the waiter even asked us if we wanted butter on our tandoori roti. Definitely a place to revisit if were ever back in Santa Monica.

We went with great expectations because of good google reviews. And felt very happy also as long as we were having starters - paneer pakodas, Bhajis, samosas. All good.But the main course was not up to the mark. Same gravy was used for all the dishes it seems. Chole tasted more like ragda. Bhatoore were soft and thick (not crispy). Paneer was also ok.Was giving only 3 but adding 1 star for service. Even though we went in off hour around 4 pm, the server arranged tables and food for us. They have ample booth seating so you can get cozy during your meal and the servers never rush you out. I now live far away and still make the trek for special occasions.They celebrate many Hindi holidays by offering free buffets.The staff is the most genuinely very kind. Ive always feel like part of the family.They have many dishes that are Vegan and Gluten Free and they are knowledgable and helpful about other food allergies as well.This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I started going for the lunch buffet when I worked nearby. The price and variety make it an easy place to good many times each week. It is family run and Indian holidays are celebrated with free meals. But, what really made me fall in love with Chandni is the decor and excellent service. Chandni is located in upscale Santa Monica on Wilshire and 20 the street near gap store. Excellent vegetarian food. All you can eat lunch buffet everyday from 11-30 am to 2-30pm for only $8.95+tax. Cant beat the great food for this price in all of LA or for that matter all of usofa. Buffet include 5 excellent veggie dishes, white and brown rice, unlimited bread naan, salad,yogurt called raita, fritters and end with rice pudding dessert. Can also order from menu if you dont want buffet. Established in 1990 and I have been patron since 1990 when all you can eat buffet was only $4.95. Still maintain great quality, delicious food. Go and find yourself and enjoy to the max. Also 3 or 4 times a year on Christmas eve, Indian festival day in March, October/November etc serve free lunch from 12 to 3pm. Overall the BEST in Los Angeles.

Wonderful home-cooked feel. Healthy and fresh vegetarian - mild yet flavorful. They even have brown rice. Friendly, casual and clean. Doesnt look like much from street, but the food is great. Inexpensive: such a good value that I was inspired to overtip to express my satisfaction. This is my new favorite place on the westside. Im especially grateful that they play subdued and pleasant classical Indian music and that they dont have a TV blaring Bollywood videos like so many other Indian places.

I reached there on Sunday around 12:15pm. I considered this because of 4.4 rating. However, I do not know why people give so good rating. First the most interesting part was employees were too much busy with their own lunch instead of serving customers.At least on Sunday, there were only 3 customers and they served only the following in buffet: gobhi pakoda as a starter, 4 veg items (lobiya, aalu-matar, palak paneer, tofu) and only one sweet dish with white rice. I usually eat at an Indian restaurant on weekends, but this food was the second worst food that I got after Mother India at Costa Mesa. They may server good buffet on other days, but when I visited it was worst. The cost of the food was 9.9 + tax. In this amount, I eat so better food in Irvine, Tustin, and other areas.
