It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a Mongolian restaurant. I wish they had the appetizers to grill at you own table but the wontons and sauce with soup and rice took care of the appetizers. Joanne was the best waitress! So sweet and invited us warmly! The bbq guys were helpful with picking spices! Making this a once a month place when Joann is working!!!

Seating system and service was chaotic. Food quality was ok, but like 9 scoops of various sauces in my one bowl and still somehow lacked flavor....its almost like they water down their sauces...? Definitely not my choice in Mongolian BBQ places to go to

Ive been to many Mongolian bbq places years ago so when I found Changs nearby, I was super excited. Straight on the door, they showed you the All-You-Can-Eat price. I was a bit surprised as the price has increased in the past few months (looking from some previous pictures) but no problem as we were craving for dinner. When we entered, one of the staff noticed us. He pointed a booth for us and asked us to go straight to the buffet. They provided disposable gloves to keep the spoons clean.They have thin sliced pork, beef, chicken, and lamb, as well as tofu for protein. They also have shrimp & squid (previously frozen) at the end of the line - after the sauce section. The vegetable looked fresh and there were lots to choose from.I was super disappointed with the sauce. They were all watered down. For the first round, I put a ladleful of each sauce that I wanted but after it was cooked, the food was bland! So, for the second round, I put two ladlefuls of each sauce and still it was bland. For the third round, I basically doused my bowl with sauces and it finally tasted something. Also, the squid pieces that I picked wasnt cooked - was still raw & rubbery.With AYCE, youll get a big bowl of rice, soup, and crispy wonton chips. The soup was bland. The crispy wonton chips were good. Overall, it was too expensive for the price. The meat & veggie quality were good but the sauce was meh. It was a solid 3.5 stars for me.

Typical, comfortable Mongolian BBQ food and sauce choices, nothing special or out of the ordinary. Service was inattentive, nothing more than pointing at our table. Once we sat down with our food, no one offered drinks or checked on us. Older Chinese restaurant decor, pretty drab. Still, food was simple and tasty. Id come back for that.

Ok you know the area where you get your bowl together, there is aways food scraps which is fine. But when I see an employee put the scraps back in the bins vs whipping the counter off and throughing the scraps in the garbage. I am doneThat is so gross

This is the best $13 buffet I have ever spent! I was doubtful at first, but it is perfect! You choose everything yourself and prepare it exactly how you like it. You get 4 choice of meat (chicken, beef, pork, and lamb), small shrimp and squid (at the end of the line); at least 20 choices of vegetables and fixing; 10 or more choices of sauces. Tips: dont go overboard and fill your bowl like a mountain! Just get enough (fill to the bowl rim is perfect), so that by the time you finish eating the bowl, the food would still be warm/hot; then go back for second or third. Also this give you a chance to try different meat or prepping to see how you like it. Turn out, I love lamb! They also have a really good crisp/fried (wonton chip?) and egg drop soup as a side waiting for you at the table. Desert is simple - fruit, jello, and soft serve ice ice cream. I dont need a 1000 item of food selection and over stuff myself just because I can, this small selection of Mongolian food is perfect! This is the best $13 I have every spent on a buffet.

NO FLAVOR. NO LIFE. NOT AYCE! What a disappointment. The ambiance is like a morgue. Staff never talks to you. And the food is equally lifeless. The sauces are cheap quality and diluted so far as to lack any flavor. They charge you per plate so AYCE is not true. Lunch costs $18.69 / person for two bowls excluding tip. Chef never took his eyes off his cell phone and we had dirty dishes throughout our meal. Ran out of lamb for lunch and no refill. Booths are filthy. Certainly not to Folsom minimal standards. Sorry, will not return. Keep expectations low.

I’ve been coming here since my parents first took me as a kid - probably 25 years now, and never had a bad experience. I’ve lived in several places in the area/state and tried to find somewhere like this - none of them were comparable. Add some extra soy sauce and hot oil, and make sure to grab a soft serve cone!

Delicious!! Our 2nd time here. They give you these crispy little tempura chips and egg drop soup as appetizers :-) Also, they have shrimp at the end of the line!! good lamb and pork. Loved the spinach when cooked in the sauce, wish I would have gotten a BUNCH more (it shrinks a lot). You can put a bit more sauce than they recommend if you like it to be more flavorful :-)

We went to the Mongolian BBQ place tonight but left when we saw that the price had gone up to $18.99 for dinner. I get that they are a small business and need to make money to stay in business but when you go from $12.99 to $18.99 in just 3 years Im afraid that you have priced me out. Went for the first time & found the staff friendly & attentive. The food looked fresh & the food area was clean & tidy. There was a good variety of meats & veggies & sauces. The cooking process didnt take long at all. Once we sat down with our cooked food, we were brought rice, an egg drop soup & some fried dough with a sweet & sour sauce. It was our first time & so we had no clue how to proceed or that there would be food brought to our table for us, so we were a little confused. Theres no signage to direct you & so we asked what to do as there is no menu. Most people probably are smarter than we are & would know what to expect but we dont go out that often to eat. We enjoyed the food alot & will probably come back more often now that we discovered it

So disappointed in our visit last night. I know they seem short on staff, but seating people out of turn, not responding to “ excuse me” when we needed water or napkins doesn’t make for a great customer experience. Having people wait, but those doing take can go ahead behind the wait group, then tables become available and the take out people are seated behind the wait listed people- not cool! Food is always amazing but 3 people standing in the grill section not assisting the staff in the lobby seems inexcusable. The staff in the lobby needs to pay attention to all patrons and check in them instead of larger groups only.

Food was good. Very busy place, kinda cramped but it was fine. They do need to work on being a little more clear in their English. Both of us struggled really hard to figure out what the woman by the door was saying and she struggled to understand us as well considering we were asked the same question several times. Even my husband, who speaks multiple languages could not understand her very well. Other than that, everything was great.

Chang’s is a nice little spot to get your fix of all you can eat Mongolian BBQ. Plenty of toppings and two types of noodles to suit your fancy is nice. They’ve got plenty of sauce choices as well. I’ve not been disappointed here yet.

I have frequented this restaurant for many years. The staff is absolutely wonderful, they are kind, attentive and welcoming. The food is phenomenal, fresh ingredients and many protein options including lamb, shrimp, calamari, tofu, beef and chicken! I especially appreciate that they have a recipe guide above their sauces so you can confidently season your dish. They provide delicious rice, fried wonton strips, and delicious egg flower soup, and their soft serve ice cream machine always works (all included with your meal).

My family always absolutely loved this place! The price is very reasonable, the place is kept clean, and probably most importantly the staff has always been very friendly. The kids always loved the self serve ice cream and toppings for dessert. This place has a fantastic value. Keep this is perspective: its a self serve Mongolian BBQ in a strip mall, not a full service restaurant. This was one of our favorite places for more than 10 years. We moved to the Bay Area and dont have anything like this close by so we miss it!

I drove 2 hours to go to this changs because I thought it was like the one in Portland Oregon. Boy was I wrong. This changs is nothing like the one in Oregon. Folsom changs is very disorganized and after you put the food in your bowl and they cook it, they take your plate away and make you stand somewhere else and then they take it in the back kitchen and then come out with a plate and I feel like thats very weird for them to do it like that when they could just start at the other end of the bar and go the other way towards the kitchen. But anyway, not only that, but they dont communicate very well with the customers at all barely speaking English and the lady first told us to get as much as we wanted and then said that shes going to charge for another bowl. Nonetheless, I hate this changs I will never go back and the food wasnt even the same.

Used to live in Folsom, now occasionally work in Folsom. This place introduced me to Mongolian probably 20 years ago and I have yet to find its equal. Quality meats, lots of vegetables, the most sauces to choose from and it includes an all you can eat dessert too. Dinner is all you can eat, lunch has a choice of single bowl. FYI, pack the first bowl full if you want to try to take any home. Only first bowl can be taken home.

Prices are great, especially compared with some Mongolian BBQ places I have been to in the past. Meals come with won tons, which is always a fine addition. The choices are good for meats, veggies and sauces. The best part is: if you only go up once, you can take your leftovers home! Awesome! For first time visitors, get as much meat as you can first. There is no meat further down the isle so load up while you can. Get the thin noodles too. The entire bowl you fill up will get grilled. Its awesome.

I have been coming to this location for over 20 years!They have the best sauces, meats and fresh cut veggies you can ask for. I have lived all over California and I have NEVER found one as good as Changs. Trust me, I have looked everywhere. There are good ones out there but no comparable at all.Not only do you get amazing customer service but you get Ice Cream at the end! Even though I am stuffed I can always eat an Ice Cream Cone. Looking for Mongolian and still want to feel safe then this place is for you. Hand sanitizer available, you have to use gloves to get your ingredients and you can get it to go, eat outside, or inside in limited numbers. We are still not comfortable with eating inside so we got it to go, they made sure we had rice, sweet and sour dipping sauce for our crunchy wontons. So good!

The lady who works there brought her kids and left them alone sitting at a table. Thought it was all good until the trouble starts. The kids walk over to the dessert stand and start POKING THE JELLO. Really? Someone who I was with decided to call them out. They stopped. For a while, they were ok. Their dad came over and was eating with them, but as soon as he left, they started again. Luckily I got ice cream already because the kids walk over to the ice cream machine and stick their fingers inside the machine and lick their fingers and keep doing it. Disgusting! I started with Lamb, bell pepper, white and green onions,spinach jalapenos, cilantro, mushrooms, tomatoes, noodles, garlic, wine, sesame oil, ginger, sesame seeds and siratcha. This is THE worst Mongolian place I have ever been to. Every single time we’ve come here we’ve had an issue. Tonight we decided to come by for dinner. Keep in mind it’s about 6 pm. After getting our food the cooks take our bowls to cook them and one says to us “next time grab another bowl so you don’t make a big mess” excuse me, I’m sorry I made your job a little harder. There was only 2 other people behind us so it’s not like the place was packed. When talking to the manager he also started by taking the cooks side until I mentioned it was bad customer service. This place is a joke.
