Went alone today and ordered a bowl of soup. The food tasted good and the service was good, but the boss forced me to leave a 15% tip.When I protested to him, he told me that this is American culture and waiters live on tips. If I didnt want to tip, I shouldnt come to the restaurant to eat.But when I saw the final bill, I found that the tip option was clearly at the end and should not be included directly in the bill along with the dishes.Frankly speaking, the waiters in the restaurant are nice, but the boss’s bad attitude is hard for me to accept.

Authentic Chinese cuisine cooked with respect for requests. We spent $117 for a bottle of Chardonnay, eggdrop soup, tomato beef chow mein, mixed vegetables, brown rice and an exceptional sauté fish. The fish was how great? I dislike fish but I have had it twice here!How delicious was it all? I left a 25 %tip.We always have leftover food but this time the 3 of us ate everything!

Food was generally tasty but it failed the no weird meat test. In these dishes, chewy, unchewable ligament and grissle were found: potstickers, pork chow mein.egg rolls mushy. Quite good dry braised green bean though overcooked. Nice ambiance for a date or family. Service was decent.

Always good service, and excellent food! The hot and sour soup is my favorite! Along with the Mongolian beef, chicken with vegetables, and the prawns as an appetizer with the sweet and sour sauce is amazingly delicious! The last picture shows general tsaos chicken which is breaded. All portions shown are from the lunch special (the last picture) which also include a vegetable roll as shown in the last plate.

One of my regular stops for prawns. These are specifically Chef Choy Prawns. Tons of garlic and flavor. I ask for extra spicy with extra garlic. The family that owns the restaurant is wonderful and so attentive and the service is excellent. The place is clean and well-kept, but it could use a face lift. Thus place was a share from a friend, and just because they were somewhat hidden and unknown to me locally, I was slightly hesitant to venture inside knowing how picky I am to new things especially meets and on top of that being a foreign food. He promised me I wouldnt be disappointed, and let me tell you he was not wrong. Our food was out in less than 5 minutes which blew my mind. Freshly cooked extremely hot made to order and the staff which I would guess was a family husband and wife team was probably the most hospitable set of hosts I have experienced in quite some time. They were very friendly and extremely generous in their portions as a whole, and were very open to modifications which is nice for picky eaters like myself. I am not surprised that they remained open during the pandemic and limitations, as I am sure this place is extremely busy on any given normal day. I am sorry I have not known about them sooner. Impeccable as far as food and service, a must go recommendation! Thank you kindly to the owners of this restaurant, as they are exceptional in what they are offering and how they treat their guests. Good fast service, curtious service.The food was salty, too much red sauce all over the plate.Make sure you specify your oil restraint if you have any.Lots of available parking, very little waiting. Make sure you sit in the right side of the waiting area else you are ignored.

Good food, decent prices, nice staff...Updated 10.15.22 - the establishment has changed owners, but some of the staff has stayed on... The menu does not look like its changed which is good for those that love the old dishes. Interior is a bit sparse, but this may be early in their transition with an anticipation of sprucing up the place in the near future.

Today is Black Friday, November 27th, 2020 while I was waiting for my truck to be serviced by Pep Boys Pleasant Hill with four new tires. I went hungry and since Chef Choy is the nearest place to grab lunch, I walked in and ordered ten ingredient pan fried noodles. As promised my order came out in under ten minutes steaming hot and newly cooked with all the fresh vegetables, shrimp and meats. For paying $13.50 including tax it is a great value for the money. I would recommend this place if you want good Chinese food and quick and easy and fresh.

This restaurant has been open long enough to know that its a keeper. Swift service. Good menu and a nice atmosphere and the whole staff enhance the experience. A good place for lunch if you dont have a lot of time to wait. I have eaten here for over 10 years and never left unsatisfied.

This place is still on my go-to places in Concord-Pacheco area.Food is made fresh to order. People are very attentive and courteous. After trying almost every Chinese restaurant in the area over many years and losing some good ones along the way, we were pleasantly surprised by some of the best (take out) food ever. From the woman taking my order to the man at the front when I arrived to pick up, everyone was friendly and helpful. Best hot and sour soup in ages. You could actually taste both the hot and the sour! We will be back.

I was in town visiting my mom’s work and ended up at this restaurant for lunch. They gave us a warm welcome as soon as we entered the restaurant. I liked the friendly warm welcome. Mongolian beef was bomb served with soup egg roll and choice of rice. Their walnut prawns are also amazing. I don’t mind going back again. I highly recommend people to visit this place once coz I can guarantee you will end up visiting again! ❤️

Absolutely amazing-value Chinese food: Their shrimp tastes fresh, food was flavorful and perfectly matched my expectations, and the service could be considered brisk but I considered them highly professional and efficient. Okay...The potstickers were on point, the pork filling was firm as it should be and not soft and soggy. The chicken chow fun was as I hoped it would be delish and the salt and pepper shrimp with the shell on and not off was so flavorful. I loved the fact that they cut the heads of the shrimp off, so that way it is still easy to enjoy and still look at. Loved it all!!!!😊

Well this was a big surprise for me because I thought I knew every restaurant around here that was good and not good. I had an ad that was Chinese came over from China and she basically watched me and my cousin When We Were Young and we ate Chinese food all the time and on the weekend she would make a big meal for everybody. So you could say Ive been extremely spoiled with Gourmet homemade Chinese food. I dont even go to most Chinese restaurants cuz I know there Im not going to like them. But what a nice surprise it was to find out if this restaurant actually Cooks wonderful homemade Gourmet style Chinese food very fast very courteous very clean place is been there for a long time I cant believe I didnt know about it but I do now and I plan on going pretty much once a week or so. They are a little pricey but most Chinese places are right now almost all of them are a little pricey this place is actually worth it though. BEWARE OF TIPPING! where do i start? Firstly, it took only 10 minutes to cook our food of 3. So either they had dishes pre cooked, or microwaved. When I arrived, not only did i not get my recipt but they tipped themselves $15 extra! So my meal was $61 instead of $46 when I got home to eat the portions were good, however there was WAY too much bamboo in the mushroom chicken. I had to pick through the bamboo just to find them, and the taste was so bland Ive had safeway Chinese food better than this. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY DONT BOTHER!

New Lims Concord used to be our go to but theyve let their store go to pot and now not as good as others. Hunans was our go to for hot and sour soup but not anymore.Chef Choy might be a little out of the way for a Concord/Clayton resident but we dont care - it is so worth it. Im not saying they dont use MSG... I just dont sense it. Right amount of stirfry oil, never has it been too greasy and I wont mention our dishes but we either get the same thing most every time tho if were feeling adventurous any new item is always scrump-deli-icious

Okay first and foremost, this place is NOT cheap unlike what Google maps says ( it has one $). Food is good, but again EXPENSIVE. But you get what you pay for. If I had to nitpick, the vegetable chow mein was a bit too salty. Customer service was excellent.
