I think this is my new favorite sushi spot in all of LA. There wasnt a bad item on the menu and I was surprised by how economical it was for such high quality food.I got lucky and was served by one of the best sushi chefs, Panda. He was super kind, knowledgable, and friendly. We started talking about our lives and we quickly started becoming friends. He recommended the Live Sweet Shrimp and the Halibut Fin, both of which were probably some of the best sushi experiences Ive ever enjoyed.The atmosphere is comfortable, home-style, not at all intimidating, which belies the exceptional quality of just about every dish.

Did a random search for sushi and Chiba showed up reviews seemed decent. We had lunch here and Chiba did not disappoint. Had to take a picture of the premium Chirashi that we ordered. Quality as fantastic as well as presentation and price. Looking forward to coming back and becoming a regular customer!

After reading the review of the 28 Best Sushi Spots in Los Angeles dated 1/20/2022, we went there for dinner. All sushi dishes we had are fresh with great taste.We love the patio dining. At 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, most seats are full.

Chiba is by far the best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. Been coming here for years, since before they came to this new location. I didn’t see the owner this time but the food is amazing and eating here again was quite nostalgic. I recommend to anyone that wants delicious food and great service and a great price

I had a hankering for sushi Ive passed by this place Bunches of times I finally stopped in the manager is very nice person the patio is not a bad place to sit the staff are very courteous nice and helpful if youre a sushi or a Japanese food lover this is the place to go the food the sushi was unbelievable I did get some pictures this time lol 😀Come early make reservations if possible its well worth the wait but if you come early at 6:00 theres parking in their parking lot but he can get a little full.

This place was recommended by a friend that is Japanese so we figured we should probably give it a try. Turns out this place is really awesome. We had to drive 30 minutes to get there but it was totally worth it. Really authentic Japanese vibe and great sushi. There are hundreds of sushi restaurants in LA but only a few that are really great. This is one of them. Give it a try

This is got to be one of not so many restaurants that actually serve freshest and quality ingredients. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up stuffed myself. I ordered mostly just nigiri and an eel avo handroll and shishito as an app. My fav gotta be ikura with quail egg(must try). Their choice of toppings on sushi were a bit different from what I used to but they worked. Overall an unique taste and experience. If you like nigiri, this is the place.The service was great and my server was so polite(maybe a bit too polite cuz I couldnt really hear what he said haha) apart from that hes knowledgeable and professional.The price is a little above average but it is expected for this type of quality and service.The only reason I give 4 stars is that I found a good size fish bone on my Tai sushi. Which is understandable because its a fish nonetheless it has bone and accident happens. Ive been eating sushi for many many years now and sushi is my favorite food so I will have sushi every week or even twice a week. This is actually the first time I encountered with bone in my sushi. I hope that this doesnt happen to other customers because it might not be easy to deal with..trust me.

Always a great place to get fresh, top of the line fish. The sushi/sashimi is so delicious. Im a Toro guy so the maguro toro and salmon toro with caviar is by far the best sushi I have ever had. Amaebi is sweet and delicious. The dining food is top notch. Get the karaage chicken. Super flavorful. Ive come here many times and everytime, I not only get the best fish anywhere but the service from all the servers is grade A. I will always continue to come here and if youre in the area, stop by and get lunch. Or gather some friends and have an awesome dinner. Regardless of what you want to eat, Chiba will never disappoint.

An unassuming Sushi restaurant located on a busy Sun Valley street is not really what your initial impressions are going to be. What youll find will be surprising.With updated and modern touches, this Sushi restaurant is a touch atypical. The decor is inviting. There are two separate bars where patrons can sit in front of the chefs. The dining room is situated around and feels a little noncentralized. There are adjacent seating that doubles as outdoor seating just beyond the glass. Service can also be a little worrisome if youre placed in the corners of the dining areas. Comments on how this could accommodate larger groups are certainly seen here.With a reasonable lunch specials menu, this place can be quite a hidden gem with its bento boxes. Sashimi and the 3 types of teriyaki are excellent. The Tempura isnt a light panko variety, but it is still very delicious.The Niguri is also very fresh and the rolls here are excellently prepared. Unfortunately, I found this place on a list of affordable sushi spots and found the contrary. Expect to see $8 Niguri orders and they are nowhere generous.The saving grace of the meal is how fresh their seafood is. The Spicy Tuna Cut Roll is also a star at this place for they have a perfect balance and blend of spiciness and heat. If this is one of your go-tos you must order this here.

I expected a bit more than we had here tonight. Service was very nice and pleasant, but very slow. Food came out in waves, bento boxes for 2 of the 4 people came well before sushi, and 2 people eating while 2 were watching was not great. By the time the sushi finally showed up, the bento boxes were done and we got to watch them eat, just not great execution. We also waited 20 mins and finally flagged someone down form the bill as no one ever came back to check up on us.The sushi here seemed both fresh and at the same time overzealous, too. The lobster roll and baked scallops rolls had a lot of extra garnish and little flavoring added that took away from a really fresh tasting roll. Just keep it simple!This is a nice place on a very busy street, too. Eating outside we were met with 3 different times emergency vehicles flew by with sirens on full blast. Obviously thats not the restaurant s fault, just beware if you venture to the patio. Inside has a very strong seafood smell, to be expected at a sushi place.Overall, good was pretty good, service was slow but very pleasant. Wait time for food was below average and eating at separate times because of how food was brought out was very disappointing.

The main Host (gentleman) is always super courteous and has great hair! Jansen is a phenomenal sushi chef and the wait staff here are almost overly accommodating they dote on you so much! Chiba is somehow an absolute experience and cozy at the same time. And they give you the dopest calendars for the new year! To say they make you feel like family is a vast understatement. They are always worth the wait.

I have to say this is one of the best sushi places I have been to. And I just went to Japan 3 months ago. So all sushi has become just okay to me. But the quality and freshness of their fish is excellent. The flavors they add to each bite was on point. You do not need to use soy sauce because of both those 2 things. Everything was perfectly balanced. For the quality and the amount we ordered the pricing was well within reason. They have things on the menu I have never heard of before. The service was incredibly fast, professional and friendly the entire time. And it was pretty busy. There is more than 1 sushi bar to sit at which was nice. I was served by Lin and he was an excellent chef, very courteous and easy to talk to. I dont even live in the area. We just came from the burbank airport. We will definitely be coming back AND recommending this place. 10 out of 10 I highly recommend checking this place out. I only wish we lived closer 😂

The best unagi I have ever had. And Ive had a lot of unagi. Order Omakase, you wont regret it. For less than 70 per person, you wont find a better sushi experience. Also to die for: blue fin tuna, sweet shrimp, and anything they put on your plate. Highly recommended for the sushi fanatic.

Went for dinner here on a Sat. PM, and I absolutely LOVED IT! Some of the freshest fish I had since my trip to Japan. Conner, our server was amazing and funny. He was knowledgeable and did a great job serving us and the rest of his tables. Im sorry I dont live closer so I can frequent this place more often, but I will be back for sure! As a someone who works in the restaurant business, I am pleasantly surprised with this establishment regardless of its location and lack parking. 2 thumbs up! 👍👍

Hands down one of the best places for sushi around. I walked into the doors approximately 5 years ago. I love sushi, the problem was locating a restaurant that served fresh & delicious sushi. The atmosphere, food, and service keep me returning.Extensive menu, not just sushi. Everyone is friendly.I never encountered a problem until today. We waited for the last cut rolls to come out, I flagged our waiter to find out where the rest of the food will arrive, and the waiter said we were done. No more food was ordered. It wasnt what I wanted to hearHe went on to say, we never ordered the rolls. We go into this restaurant just for this specialty item. We were the first to be seated, no noise caused our order wrong.One mistake does not wipe out the best sushi place in town. A must try and do not forget to make reservations!

Good food and sweet server. I havent been to Chiba restaurant for about 20 years. It is much better than I remember. I like this restaurant better than the many Korean owned sushi bars in Burbank. Chiba has much more of a traditional Japanese feel and taste. I found all the fish to be good, but I wouldnt say great. I go to Japan often, so my standards are skewed high. I especially liked the black cod. Really tasty and cooked perfectly. Well be back.

I finally ordered from here!Their Natto Maki roll is amazing! I wish they had a few more Natto options for us Natto lovers. I love Natto rolls but also love natto by itself or with raw eggs. Natto options are hard to find in LA and it would be fun to see what the chef comes up with.The baked salmon roll was so lovely and one of the best I’ve ever had. Their yellowtail was fresh and soft.We will be ordering from here as much as possible.

I havent been here since the 1970s or 80s. It is still there with a brand new building and is has grown immensely. I went with old friends from high school. We had a wonderful time. We came on a Monday for lunch. Plenty of parking with their new location. Everything was fresh, and delicious! A must stop even 400 hundred miles from my home - lol! This place was great when it came to the food and parking. However, the service wasn’t great. We had been seated and not given any menus. So after not having a waiter come to us for about 30 minutes, I asked someone else for a menu. After receiving the menu, we waited about another 30-40 for our waiter to finally come serve us. Now it didn’t end there because after that our food took about an hour. Everyone who had came and sat after we were seated had been served and already received their food. It seemed like most of the people there were regulars and since we were new, I guess we weren’t a priority. Little disappointed since the food was good.

Legit edomae style nigiri. The joint gives me Nipon vibes. I had the omakase and every piece was exceptional. I would get the 10 piece $30 special if I was to go back again which is what my Sushi chef recommended. It comes with all the greatest hits. I also liked the cucumber and diakon sunomono they give you as a starter. Unlikely location but worth the trek. Better than a lot of whats on Ventura. Highly recommend

Weve been a patron of Chiba for over 30 years, back when they were on Saticoy.Sushi master Shig is a happy, and humble purveyor of of an art, and living, passed down from his father.I highly recommend that you check them out. I think that youll agree, they are the best sushi in the San Fernando Valley.PS: Youve got to try the spicy tuna on crispy rice cake. We tried it for the first time last week, and we were completely surprised that wed never tried it before! And... if you arent a fan of spicy tuna, our fantastic waitress told us we can order the crispy rice cake all by itself. Yup!

Chiba is our go-to sushi restaurant in the Valley! We’ve been to many, but Chiba is consistently good with reasonable prices and kind staff. They accommodate the kids, sometimes give them something special and the sushi is always quality. Spicy tuna roll can be found anywhere, but they pile it high here. The sashimi was excellent tonight and always is. We make a point of going here every time we’re in LA!

What a secret gem this place is in the valley. It’s on lankershim in the hood ! Top quality sushi in a very dominated Hispanic neighborhood. There’s variety everywhere I get it, but I didn’t expect this type of quality to be here and there’s a good reason for it. Y’all had the best tacos in the area ? This is the best sushi in your area.Parking: they have their own lot but I bet this place can get just. There’s street parking but that itself can be a challenge.Food: I got just a scallop and mushroom roll. So yummy. My friends had others too but I forgot what the name was.Service: quick. This could almost be called a hidden gem as this unremarkable location houses some pretty good food. However, slow service, loud patrons, and an unattractive interior make for a generally lackluster experience overall. If a good atmosphere isnt a requirement with your food, youll be fine. Otherwise, you might want to consider takeout instead.

Been coming here for years and they have the absolute best sushi. Its not your typical speciality sushi roll spot, you can definitely tell the sushi here is authentic and made with high quality grade fish. My favorite is the Crunchy Shrimp cut roll. The hospitality when you could still dine-in was wonderful and very welcoming. They are still operating for to-go and pick up orders. It was a breeze placing my order on the phone and picking it up. Definitely recommend ordering food here if you’re craving some good sushi & to support your local restaurants and businesses!

I have been eating at chibas since I was like 10 and I’m 26 now, anyways yesterday I went there with my mom and when I came home to eat it the chicken was raw and my mom got food poisoning so bad she still has it but she’s sleeping right now . It was awful!!! I’m so disappointed

Ive been coming here for many years. The sushi here is top notch, excellent fresh quality. Everything from sushi to rolls are really good. Theyve got a huge menu of hot food and appetizers as well. Really good lunch combinations to choose from.The staff always remembers me and the service is great. This is probably one of the best sushi places in all of Los Angeles.Family owned and operated. Extremely consistent. They have their own parking lot so parking is very easy. I highly recommend trying this place out.

We had a great experience at Chiba last night. We made a reservation for 8 people and the table was ready for us when we arrived. No waiting. Had a great meal and terrific service from Connor. This place is hands down the best sushi spot in the valley. Ive been to many but only this place makes dynamite the way I like it. In the clam shell and oh so fresh. We ordered a lot of rolls as well and appetizers. Had an almost divine culinary experience.You should definitely consider this place before other sushi spots. The spicy tuna was a puree that left any semblance of tuna back at the dock. This place is a secret treasure. The sushi is so fresh melts in your mouth. The customer service is also on point from the valet person to the servers. They all deserve a 5 star.

Arguably the best sushi in the SFV. Must try if you like high quality sushi. Albacore sushi is top notch. The spicy tuna salad is especially good.

Chiba is a San Fernando Valley Iconic restaurant. It has been serving the North Hollywood neighborhood in which it sits for 40 years. In that time Chiba has established themselves with the fish houses and brokers in both Los Angeles and Japan and the grade and types of sushi they offer is some of the best found anywhere in the world. You add to that the pride and service of The Chiba family and you have one of the finest sushi experiences in LA. You can be sitting at the sushi bar and on one side of you are the guys who just worked on your car and on the other side is a rock star drummer you saw at The Greek the night before all enjoying the amazing food and preparation that is Chiba.

This place was great. Giving it a 3 for service. Service was great. The food not the yummiest Ive had. The spicy tuna wasnt spicy. Parking is horrible. Good thing for valet parking.

One of the best sushi joints in Los Angeles. If you have ever had sushi in Tokyo or Hokkaido and want that taste of Japan... then go to Chiba. It is family run and second generation.

If i were to say what the biggest regret in my life was, it would be not going to this place sooner. The chefs and wait staff are kind and hard working. The food is to die for. Seriously. Id probably attend some druidic ritual and volunteer to be the sacrifice if it meant keeping this place on the map. Good news is that this place is in no danger of disappearing. Cant wait to see there new spot open up. This is a resturant ran by those who love it. Dont pass it up. Try the unagi, youll cry tears of joy. Im getting sentimental just thinking about it.

Hella over priced for what you get, fishy smelling when entering. Which is most likely what gave myself & a few other friends terrible food poisoning. We were charged for things we didnt receive, & when questioning it no one could speak English. WTF?
