The service in the beginning was a little rocky and pushy but soon after they were very attentive and very kind. This was the best Chinese restaurant I have been to since leaving the Bay area.I got to enjoy their preset lunch options. The sesame chicken was far better than the Mongolian beef, but I can assure you there will be nothing on the menu that you will not like. Their hot and sour soup, egg rolls and wontons were amazing. I was so impressed with their hot and sour soup that it didnt need extra seasoning- you know extra chili oil and soy sauce- it was amazing all on its own. I will for sure stop by every time I pass the area. Its super easy to get to with a bunch of parking. Theres no excuse to not try this place out.I can guess pretty soon. This place will get super busy if it doesnt already. I just hope they take reservations!

Had a stopover for lunch at this place. The lunch combo was great. Sufficient for one person with good quantity and great taste. Price is also good for $15 per person. Would stop again for sure. The best was that the interior was very well maintained, and the service was awesome.

Very decent Chinese restaurant with modern decor and pretty tasty food. We tried their special luncheon which came in a bento box. The fried wontons and egg rolls were very crispy and the fried rice was tasty but a little too oily for our taste.

We drive two hours to Paso Robles just to eat at China Gourmet. Well run, consistent, with the best homemade dumplings (potstickers) we’ve ever tasted! Great clean spot for pickup, or stay and dine-in for a “date night” feel.You can tell, locals love it. Must try!

We really enjoyed this place. I ordered a really nice chardonnay and we had the war wonton soup as an appetizer. We also ordered walnut prawns and sizzling black bean chicken. Everything was wonderful including the service. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Definitely a hidden gem. It was a little expensive but you can get package dinners that will make the cost of your meal like going to any other Chinese restaurant.

Ive been here twice in the past week and everytime the food is amazing this time we got the Luncheon Special from 11:30am-2:30pm. I got the Sesame Chicken and she got Shrimp Chow Mein. The food was amazing, the waiters were amazing and ontop of our drinks being empty and wanted to make sure we were having a good time. We are extremely satisfied everytime we come here

Sorry, I had to give two stars. I ordered the Shrimps fried rice, food came out within 2-3 min. The fried rice is kind of cold, it meant the fried rice has been already cooked or cancel by somebody. The plate is small, the price is $16.95 +tax and tip. I will not come back.

They accommodated a party of 10. Food was placed on a round Robin in the center of the table for convenience. Drinks were always full. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. The restaurant was clean and well decorated.

We did not have high expectations looking for an eatery that was open on Thanksgiving Day while on our way to SLO. The place was pretty nice and the food good. We had beef chow fun with black bean sauce, Yang Zhou fried rice and fried wanton and all tasted yummy. The interior looks relatively new and would definitely return if in area.

I used to eat here a lot pre-Covid, at one time it was a very good restaurant. Sadly, not anymore, this has to be the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, even the fried rice was bad, oily and fishy tasting, I could not eat it.Save yourself the trouble, trust me, you’ll have better tasting Chinese food at Panda Express across the street.

One of the few restaurants where I can say, everything is fantastic. We passed around 9 different dishes among 6 people and barely had enough left to even bother taking home. Food here is great. HOWEVER...buyer beware because the rice does not come with the entree and this is not stated anywhere in the menu. The server asked us if we wanted steamed or fried rice. We said fried. We were shocked when an additional 14.55 charge appeared on the bill. Thankfully, my wife and I chose to split an entree or we would have had two nearly 15 dollar charges for rice. We complained to the server and manager who were very terse and short in responding that rice does not come with the meal. It is the only chinese restaurant I have ever been to where at least steamed rice doesnt come with the entree. Steamed rice is 3.50. We will likely only do takeout from now on as the food is good. But, paying $30 for fried rice to eat it with is not in the cards for me. We will cook steamed rice in the rice cooker and enjoy at home!

Went last nite for dinner.. had to be in town for a death in family.. The servers were very attentive, helpful and patient.. The food was delicious.. My husband was impressed on how clean it was.. even bathrooms…. And he loved their tea!! I was very disappointed in my first experience here. The young waiter was incredibly rude and wouldn’t let anyone finish their order or let them know how we wanted to split the ticket and for a to go order. He also threw down the plates of food and made it very awkward to enjoy the meal with him watching us eat while on his phone. It was not just with us but the same way with other customers. I also was not able to get a side of rice it was charged as a full meal. I will not be coming back to this restaurant.

I havent come across a better Chinese restaurant (in regards to quality, dedication to customers, and cost-we always have plenty extra for my husband and I to have lunch/dinner the following day). The staff is gracious and caring, always adapting to our requests, delivery time is usually much shorter than initially quoted, and the food is beyond amazing. Its our regular go-to. I heard about this place via a friend of mine. We were discussing a potential location to dine, and this was his option. Admittedly, I was unsure of this establishment due to the nature of the my friends description. That being said, upon entering, I was truly blown away by the sheer class and elegance this restaurant holds. The interior dining area is beautiful, well decorated. The service was fabulous, and the food itself was some of the best cuisine I have had. It was clear my worries and concerns were proven wrong. This restaurant is amazing, from the friendly and accommodating staff to the absolutely incredibly delicious food. As most who come to Paso know it’s hard to find a late night dining option. China Gourmet sat our group of 10 and provided us with a most memorable dining experience. One great point to keep in mind when you visit is that they have a remarkable wine list. This place is Amazing! The service was quick and efficient, super friendly and accommodating. We had originally gone to the buffet down the road but the prices were 25 dollars a person and with teenagers that hardly eat that would have been a waste of money. Here at China gourmet we ordered three combos and shared it all and it was more than enough food for 4 people we ended taking some home. Everything was full of flavor!! We will be going back again!! So I decided to continue my drive to Paso Robles for Chinese food. Not only had the place been remodel, the food was better than ever. The staff was excellent. This restaurant Carrys on an old school tradition where the owner is almost always present and greets each guess as they come in. They make you feel like you are at home. If you live in Paso Robles or the surrounding area and have never been to China Gourmet, you dont know what you are missing. If you are visiting, you must go before you leave.

China Gourmet’s food is not only delicious but also they went above and beyond to help me when I was hosting a cocktail party and my caterer did not show up on time. They worked with me to feed 60 people. Our guests could not be more excited for their Spring rolls, cream cheese wontons and different meat skewers. I can’t thank them enough. Oh god. So nasty. The egg flower soup can best be described as a warm bowl of pus. The rest of the food represents the minimum effort to make something edible. The only thing worse than the food is the service. The waiter did not know what was in any dish we asked about. We had to repeat what we wanted multiple times. When he dropped the food off at the table, he mumbled something completely incoherent and until I put my credit card on the table after choking down that slop, we never saw him. If I was starving Id go hungry rather than go there again. Unbelievably bad.

My family and I dined at China Gourmet on June 22nd, 2021. From the moment we entered until the moment we left, everything was as good as we could have expected. Service was attentive and professional, but not intrusive. Quality of food was excellent; extremely fresh. Plus, it was brought to our table quickly; we didnt have the long delays that are sadly typical at many restaurants these days. Also, importantly, the restaurant was spotless. Let me start by saying this is the BEST Chinese restaurant in the county! My wife and I have been going here for years and were quite sad that we are unable to dine-in anymore (due to Covid) and experience their amazing service. But they have really stepped it up, with their delivery service and Togo orders! The soups are piping hot, and the food is still full of the amazing flavors it has always had. Tuesdays are my Fridays and there is nothing I love more than getting home from a long work week and enjoying a nice dinner delivered to my doorstep. Highly recommended!!!!

Found this place on a whim while looking for a place to eat dinner here in Paso Robles. I had the pork egg rolls and shrimp fried rice. I was surprised to find that the egg rolls had no veggies. It was just pork. That was a first for me but it was tasty. The shrimp fried rice was also tasty. I took home the leftover fried rice. I will probably come back again. Im picking up food for a friend who has COVID, I come in say my friends name and two people there did not want to hear the name they continue asking for phone number and what the order was. Im picking up food for (name here). CHECK or thats what he said his name was, very disrespectfuly called me Discriminating names because he didnt understand the name for the order. Very poor customer service, CHECK didnt want to give me the food, because it was not paid for, he held on to the bag like I was going to steal it... he never said the order is $9.95 he just held on to the bag after handing it like how do I know if the order was paid for. Just say the order is $9.95, and move on. But CHECK wanted to hold the bag with the food inside and treat the customer poorly. Then if it wasnt enough he took my $20 bill and gave me change back with the UNPAID receipt back. I politely asked for my PAID receipt and he did not want to tender it. I suggested to practice good business ethics and he LAUGHED. This GOURMET CHINESE restaurant is no longer on my to go list. We shared fish, beef broccoli, crispy chicken, walnut shrimp, and pork, along with bok choy/mushrooms and pan fried noodles. The dining area has been beautifully remodeled, they have nice new menu, and they brought in local wine experts to pair with their menu.Their menu doesnt explicitly say vegan next to anything, and theres always a chance that there could be eggs, butter, fish sauce, or some other hidden animal product. When I called them after finding out about it at home, the manager said he must have misheard the order, but that all I had to do was move items from one dish to another and there -- problem solved! I finally ordered the honey walnut shrimp and it came very quick. It was alot more food than I expected and it was amazing. The meat s undercooked and soggy, very low quality food.The desert bar looks like they picked it up from the dollar store. Dont bother with this place, your not missing anything but a upset stomach.

My wife and I just happoned to stop here for lunch on our way to Yosemite from Hurst Castle and felt it was an excellent choice. Great food and service - all very fresh - and for an average price. I would recomend this as a lunch or dinner stop for any in the area.

Our family loves this place. Everytime we go the food is excelent, service is superb. The manager and his staff is always friendly and very attentive of our needs. My kids are such picky eaters but here we always come together with no issue at all. They have the best general tsao chicken!!

Terrible experience. So I call and tell them specifically “can I get a plate with chow mein and he says what else so I say can I just get orange chicken on the other side” he says okay and I come by to get it and he has 2 plates full of orange chicken and a big thing of chow mein. So I tell him I did not order this I just wanted a plate and he proceeds to take my card and puts it in the card scanner and charges me for all the food. I told him no I did not need all of that food and I live alone. He proceeds anyways and charges me. The thing is that I told him before he put my card in that I Was not going to buy at and charges me. A simple we do not do plates would have helped when I called. Charged me 45 bucks for a what should have been 15 tops.

Im not that impressed of the food. Ive tasted better Chinese food than they served. Sweet and sour pork tasted plain, mostly battered than meat, and dry ( even after using the sweet and sour sauce). Mongolian beef is mostly onion than a beef and tasted bland.

The food is good but I would not get delivery from them. The man on the phone was very rude and was rushing to get off the phone. I could barely get the order out before he hung up, giving me no details about the order. He said he couldnt deliver orders under $20 when I have had the exact same order delivered about 10 times before. Then he got mad at me for asking for my change once I did pay for it.

We met close friends for dinner...we shared a family style dinner with Mushu pork and potstickers to start off the night, and then Mongolion Beef, Walnut Prawns and Kung Pao Chicken that was absolutely incredible. It was plenty of food for four people... our Mushu pork pancakes were filled for us which was a really nice treat, and the service was excellent! Yum Yum Yum!

I am not from this area and I come to visit my best friend that lives in Templeton all the time. It was Chinese New Year’s day we decided to have Chinese food for dinner. We came to this place it was excellent!! Great staff, Great atmosphere and great food!!! The person who greeted us even wish us a happy Chinese New Year’s!!! My husband and I had lunch here today. He had kung pao beef and I the hunan beef. Both were delicious, the steamed jasmine rice fragrant and the salad fresh. The reason I only gave 3 stars is that the egg roll and wonton tasted like they were fried in rancid oil. We both ordered the egg flower soup, but it was tasteless and thick---too much cornstarch! Such a simple soup is supposed to have a delicious broth. Not so here. I asked for the hot and sour soup instead, which was quite good. I would come here again, but not order the set lunch. Instead, I would choose separate dishes and steamed rice.

I have eaten at literally hundreds of Chinese restraints, and this one is tops. The wonton soup was done perfectly, with a rich flaverfull broth and perfect vegetables. The potstickers were huge, and all the dishes were wonderfull. The waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes, and the owner was friendly and fun to talk to. I am definitely going back many times.

My daughter and I were driving through and wanted to find some good Chinese food in Paso Robles and we came across China Gourmet. They had very good reviews & the menu looked delicious so we placed a to-go order for Curry Singapore noodles with tofu and Chow mein noodles with tofu. The curry singapore noodles were out of this world- very good flavor & just spicy enough! And the chow mein noodles with tofu were the best chow mein we’ve ever had with a hint of garlic flavoring & perfect texture. The tofu was amazing too. We 10/10 recommend this restuarant to anyone looking for good quality Chinese food. In addition, the staff was super friendly & welcoming.
