Looking for Chinese food while shopping in Indio this week, we found this place. We were very hungry and should have read the previous reviews...Ignoring the looks of the inside we sat down and ordered Garlic chicken, and vegetables with noodles. Definitely got garlic, but the other dish was better described as vegetable with awful brown rice. All of this was served on Styrofoam containers, with the exception...I got a Styrofoam plate. The uninspired server said they have no dishwasher so we dont get real plates because the owners wont hire anyone to clean the dishes so they can save money. Too bad they dont want to save customers. This is a result of scarcity thinking. The dishes are attacked along the back wall where there are booths for additional customers. This is sad, as I dont like giving poor reviews, but maybe the proprietors will read this and make better choices.

Worst lo mein I’ve had in my life. I don’t even know how you can mess up noodles, but they were definitely over cooked & had a funny taste. I should’ve known by the smell of the place. The entire meal went straight to the trash!

The food is very good, but it is served on plastic trays for take out since the pandemic. Once it reaches its previous quality operation standards, it will reach a higher grade for now take out is best.

Great food and quick service. Came in late the other night. Was told it was too late to dine in (which was totally understandable…) and so we decided to take our order to go. We got a family meal and paid. Was ready in less than 15 minutes. The food was excellent and heavy portions. Will return for dine in soon. Excellent value… probably great for a family… we are just big eaters…

I really enjoy the rice and noodles from here. Ive ordered for take out a couple times and notice that the price on the food has gone up. Not a big deal for me however I know the price is a key reason a lot of people eat here.

Ordered Kong pao chicken which in this particular restaurant they add bamboo, I was unaware of this since the menu doesnt say much about the food. Bamboo is an acquired taste which I do not have. I asked the restaurant if i could send the dish back and they said they couldnt take it back since they prepared it and I took a bite and that I could get something else off the menu, but I still had to pay for the Kong pao chicken. I didnt get anything else, paid and left the food there. Thats bad business.

The food is always good here, the service, while pretty quick we were served on paper plates because they were short on staff they told us but there were at least 4 staff sitting and chatting at the other end of the restaurant and there were maybe 3 tables with customers... Like i said the food was good and served hot so Im not holding the paper plates against them, Ill go back!

The food was so delicious as always. The thing I don’t like is that they no longer serve the food in the glass serving plates. It looks like less food than last time I was there. plus u have to eat in foam plates. Not something I was expecting.

Man! I really didn’t want to do this because I’ve been eating here since Pak inn. But, this is probably the last time. Spent $60 taste like the food is really old or at least a day old. Definitely microwaved or or refried. The egg flower soup taste water downed. Damn I was sooo excited too. Egg rolls don’t even taste the same:(

Ive eaten here at China Star several times, the staff isnt always friendly and attentive, but the food has always been good (especially the Orange Chicken). I only write this negative review because recently we came to eat here and when paying I asked the cashier if she would be able to break a 100 dollar bill and she said yes, she went to the back room and grabbed some change. Found out the next day that one of the 20s was a fake!! I returned to the restaurant to explain what had happened and they refused to believe me. The waitress who served us and charged us looked me straight in the eyes and said I dont remember that. So the gentlemen I spoke to said he cant verify if the bill came from them or me so there was nothing he could do. So pay close attention when receiving change here they hold no respect for their customers.

Ordered Orange Chicken for $13 dollars... I am not even sure if that was chicken. Seemed like other type of dry meat jerky... Not too sure... Took forever to chew those chicken strips. I could not even finish the meal. Sauce is cloying and very salty. Will not go back again.The meal costed $11.95, with taxes it should cost under $13 dollars, but the patron billed me $13 dollars flat. Imagine if we took cents away from this business? They steal cents away from customers... with time that amounts to larger revenues.

China Star has the best tasting Chinese food in Indio! U will not be disappointed with the food Menu ....everything here is delicious...! The Shrimp Egg Foo Young is by far the best in the entire Coachella Valley! We cant wait till they open back up for Dine In !!! Myself aswell as My family all Love the food served here!!!

I love eating here for the portion and price. I normally pay around $30 for my usual and now it’s $48!!! The lady said taxes but I’m sure the price went up. I’ll go to PF Chang’s for that pricing.

Dont order from here! I ordered on line and showed up to pick up the order and there was a sign on the door saying closed on Tuesday, take out orders only. The door was locked when i got there. This is the first and LAST Ill come here. Total waste of my time!
