I love eating out. I found this china super buffet by coincidence during a quick visit to san Diego, fine place which I didn’t know before. I spent a lovely evening with my 2 friends and there kids, A huge set of different items of foods from all over the world, superb dishes and an efficient team and an impressive chef. We put this place in our phone list and we will definitely come back soon. We highly recommend.First time there. Very good buffet for the price. a huge selection of food, and specially for seafood lovers in different dishes, BBQ ribs, fresh salads, fresh fruit... and more.Again, for the price this is a great buffet.

This place didn’t look like the online pictures. False advertisement no crab legs like stated on the online add. 🙅‍♀️ most of the food was cold and the presentation was bad most was dry and old.. The flavor was not good and the service was poor. There’s better buffets in the area for a better tasting food and better price. The waiter also delayed with the check 🙄 and was expecting a big tip!! 🤨 I would not recommend this place. I will not return either…👎

Honestly I like this buffet but I always question how clean the entire place is... We are always swapping away at flies when we eat here. The food stands look decent but dang, the flies always get to me! I honestly dont think this place is very clean... Thats why it gets a 2 star review.

This place gave me food poisoning. Was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. From the moment my wife and I walked in all we could smell was mold and rotten fish. We wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, bad idea. The hot food was cold and the cold food was room temp. Not fresh at all. Not to mention the service was horrible. Waited 20 minutes for a water. Couldn’t give less than one star.

Was a good atmosphere, I went around 6pm the wasnt a lot of people. The food was ok, but the waitress she never refilled our drinks, and she waited too much to remove the plates from our table. However, when we go to pay, she looks mad for the tips, the tips are dependent on the service, and I dont liked the service. Im not sure come back again.

4.5 starsI enjoy this buffer since I discovered September. I dont give it 5 stars because this visit fruit was not good. Today there were fruit flies on the cabbage and Pineapples of the Mongolian bbq. Other than the fruit flies on those two items... there is row after row of choices for anyone to enjoy! Update: no longer have a lunch buffet price but all day dinner pricing which is a bummer, I like to go their for lunch for the lunch pricing.

The food was fresh and there where plenty of seafood options. The sushi could have been better and I passed on the crab legs that swam in water the whole time. I can say the sauce was not overly sweet on most of the meats, I really appreciated that. Overall the food was tasty, the coconut shrimp was on point.

At $16 per person, we got what we paid for.We had moderate expectations knowing it was $16 per person. But we left mildly disappointed. If you enjoy very salty Chinese foods - over cooked in bulk - this place is for you.Environment - This place has a dated looked with Chinese stereotype decors. It is January 2022 and Covid is rampant. This place became jam packed as we’re halfway through our lunch! No table available. We left fast!Staff - not friendly but not mean. Smiles would be nice.Tables - clean-ish. Wads of paper napkins 5 inches high left on top of metal napkin boxes at every table.Foods. The few sushi selection is all nigiri; thin/small sliver of fish on top of fat rice balls. It’s okay. The Chinese food selection is abundant. Frog legs, welks, deep fried chicken wings, etc. Stir fried noodles made to order but wait your turn in a 20 minute line.I should really give this place 4 stars for the Chinese food selections BUT they pulled the “All You Can Eat” for $16 trick by making the foods super salty so that you drink a lot of water to fill your tummy. Had the foods not so salty, definitely 4 stars.

Food is decent. But what is not okay is how the waitress charged us for 8 drinks when it was just 4 of us. The drinks was 2.50 each just last month when we went there but she charged us 5 dollars for the two adult beverages then 10 bucks for two kids small drinks like seriously? Then when we told her about it she didn’t understand what we were saying and just continued to charge us and give us receipt as that was gonna justify the overpriced drinks. Not to mention that the bathroom is DISGUSTING. They don’t properly clean the floors or toilets. It’s a shame that they don’t take the time to care for their customers especially ones that tip every time they come like I do. I don’t recommend this place unfortunately.

This was my first and last time at this establishment. The sushi was the only thing that was eadible and it was just ok. The rest of the food was just not giving me anything special. The coconut shrimp were so chewy and cold. If Im going to pay $17.99 for a buffet before the drink it needs to be fresh and taste right! Not impressed at all.

Like any place, this one has its pros and cons. Its been one of my neighborhood go-to spots since they first opened their doors, and they were worth 5 stars across the board for many many years, but I believe their massive popularity sadly changed all that in the last 5-7 yrs. My current rating is solely based on my most recent experience last week for dinner at 5pm on a Sunday.Food: I always start w/soup & sushi, and both were as great as ever. I would even add that their new sushi chef is a wonderful woman, who graciously pointed out that shed just made a fresh new platter of the roll I was about to serve myself. 👍👍 By contrast, however, many of the dishes at the buffet were the opposite of fresh, and had clearly been sitting there drying up since the lunch crowd left. Most notably was the Coconut Shrimp, which was like little coconut fried rocks. 👎👎 The same could be said for the half-shell mussels and the green beans. 👎👎SERVICE: Great, as always. 👍👍PRICE: Went up in the last month. Unfortunate, for sure, but given how inflation has hit every aspect of life, I guess it was to be expected. 😞ATMOSPHERE: This has consistently gone way down. Admittedly though, its thanks to the declining quality of customers who have, among other things, trashed the bathrooms and ruined the once pleasant ambience. That said, however, the proprietors have some blame as well, and the large screen tv forever on a sports channel is certainly part of it. On this occasion though, their tv had competition, as customers were watching their own shows on their own gadgets at full volume. Unreal, but thats the world we live in today. 😞 👎👎 Gone are the days of a relaxing, delicious and reasonably priced meal at what once was my favorite Chinese buffet. Sad.

Upon arrival at the Chinese Super BuffetMy mother, my two little brothers and I witness a racial profiling by the staff. There was a women who was African American waiting for a table despite the tables be free and ready to use. The staff did not give her the table. She waited for about 30-60 minutes tops for a table. But the staff did not give her a table. But gave us a table because were Asian? The food was horrendous the fried rice wasnt even fried rice it was rice with add vegetables to make it like fried rice. The rice as was was mushy felt like Im eating porridge for Christ sake. The coconut shrimp didnt have enough sauce it was dry dryer then the Sahara desert. The Kung Po chicken was salty. The atmospheric was good. The service was horrible didnt ask us if the food was ok or anything. So Im rating the place a 1 star.

When I go to a Chinese buffet its because I like egg drop soup so I do expect to eat something thats homemade. At the China Super Buffet I got a rude awaking . The egg drop soup I got was straight out of a CAN .I left there with BUBBLE GUTS ! Not good ! So with all this it makes me think this place serves nothing fresh, but food out of a can. So this is not worth the price . Ill never waste a dime there again . If your thinking of going re consider .

Been going here for many years, and its just going down hill, food is good but miss the peanut butter chicken 😔. Went to make what my daughter calls custom noodles and the area where the fixings for them was full of fruit flies we decided against that lol the food was hot and the Ham, chicken sticks and terriyaki chicken was good but it just doesnt seem to be as good as what you pay for anymore.

Weve been a regular at China Super Buffet for many years especially because the La Mesa one has more to offer than El Cajon. I think with COVID its been changing some of the dishes because theres no more ribs, just pieces of rib in the same sauce but, since the slices are so small they get as hard as rock. The deserts have changed and I know its to save money, along with the entrees, so theres fewer heated dishes or that were supposed to be heated or at least have been for the years weve been going there; just cold. I honestly, dont know if its okay to keep meats and seafood at room temperature. I was really surprised when my sweet and sour chicken was cold and we always go about 2 hours after opening so that we know its all fresh and hot.The sushi is still wonderful and they also have the cook there to make your special meal. I hope that doesnt change.For the cost of the buffet its still a real bargain; sushi alone is so expensive. But, my favorites arent there anymore, so, well probably venture to new places.

It was a night to remember and brag to your friends about! They had many different chinese food to choose from. They also have a chef right there that will cook and fry up your food if you bring the fresh vegetables and meat that you want cooked on the spot. Sushis were excellent! They bring you your beverage filled up in a tall drinking cup extra large. They also have many fruits and desserts to choose from. You really have to go there on an empty stomach because after leaving there your stomach is so stuffed from all the great food you ate. The interior of the place was very nice and detailed with fine china decor everywhere! I would recommend this place for any family or friends who want to eat out at a Chinese buffet all you can eat! Good food and tons of it! The space to walk around was lacking, there was always someone bumping into chairs or or other people. The bathrooms are not very clean. There was toilet paper and seat covers everywhere and paper towels were not stocked. Service was great. Our waitress kept or drinks full and cleared our plates often.

Very nice decor, love the arched entry ways and crystal Chandlers! Went on a Sunday around 5 pm, super busy but they had a pretty quick turnaround time for getting people seated, even larger parties of 4-8 people!Staff were friendly and constantly on the move to clear plates and refill drinks!The buffet area had a lot to offer however was a bit tight; with as many people that were there - it was a dance to get from area to area, offen 2 to 3 of the 6 trays (pure buffet table) were empty or just barely anything (food went very fast, just couldnt cook fast enough to keep up with demand on certain items), a few items the majority of tray were burnt (which wasnt a bad thing necessarily, I like my spare ribs a bit more cooked). The food that had sauces were well flavored, they also had sauses you could add to your selections. Bonus, they have a Mongolian grill set up as well!

To start off there was no plates.... 10-15 mins for plates to come out ....Ice cream broken and than when they made it work it was watery and had no favor.A lot of the food was running out and the ones that wasnt taste like its been there all day.Nobody came to check if we need refills on drinks or anything. I asked for a fork and the lady said okay and never brought it.Than the lady came up to us telling us to pay now, and I was like okay. This buffet is usually well stocked, with hot fresh food, and they have a good variety. My go tos are fried rice and cream cheese wonton. Their fried rice is pretty good but the wonton is on sweet side so it is not my favorite Chinese buffet in the world. Also most of the recipes are heavy on the hoisin, I personally feel it makes them taste the same. On the bright side, the chocolate fountain, fresh sushi and Mongolian grill, steak, a bevy of fried foods and soups, multiple seafood options and crab legs to name just a few. My kids ask to come here over and over again for the crab and sushi.

Good food but at what price? Almost every time I go there, there is a 30 minute line. They say there is no room, yet half the building is empty! with tables and chairs! Family gathering at this place is a common choice for us. Weve been coming here for maybe 20 years and its consistently good food at good prices. Called ahead to arrange seating for 20 was no problem. Took a bit of time to wait, but only about 15 minutes when I got there, so had the best conversations before we entered. Always have plenty of food and choices for a great meal. As usual, quite a crowd, but everyone is considerate and just a few kids are a bit too excited about getting their favorites and soft-serve cones as desert. Certainly well be back for the next occasion!

I went last night and I was very disappointed. Servers are ok but the food was not fresh, flies are all over, on the sushi, and on the desserts. The workers seemed aloof, they dont care to shoo the flies away from the food. The restaurant didnt look clean, tables and seats and floors look dirty. They need to rethink how theyre doing business. Sushi was a bit too fishy tasting for me, but it is a buffet after all. There is a huge rat running through the dining room when we ate there couple weekends ago. They tried to give me a $10 discount and it was not even about the discount. I felt sick after leaving the place. It was disgusting and it shows the standards of cleanlinesss is subpar. The place smells old and dirty. I will never eat there ever again. Save your money and find another place to eat. The food government agency need to do an audit of this place and shut it down before someone gets sick.

Waited for more than 45-60 min. Person said she thought it was only two. We were 3. And she kept passing 3or more people ahead of us. The food didnt taste like before in 2019. This time food was very greasy, (oily?)some sweet bread rolls, squeezed one in front of the receptionist and like a sponge lots of oil came out. She said they had to soak them in oil to fry ! For 16.50 a person you don’t expect much. The food looked like it was there for days. The seafood looked so bad that you just know your gonna get food poisoning. For 2 adults and 1 kid it came up to 50 dollars. Your better going to 7-11 and getting there old pizza or even McDonalds and spend way less for honestly better food. The people working were rude and gave dirty looks and smirks knowing that there food is gross and dirty. The plates were dirty, the silverware was dirty. Honestly very disappointing. If you actually have taste buds don’t eat here

We almost didnt try this place because of the bad reviews, but honestly was very surprised! Service was good, they never let us leave a dirty plate for long in the table, refills were timely and food was great! A few dishes were kinda cold, but thats nearly every Buffett. Most of the food was cold, and the service is not good. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the food, I tried their pork chops. I couldnt even bite through it. I love salt and pepper chicken wings, however, at this restaurant they tasted like somebody dumped a whole salt can on them, almost not edible.They open at 11:00 am. The food is absolutely HORRIBLE. I went recently when the finally reopened. The chocolate from the fountain doesn’t taste like chocolate and the fish was chewy. It was GROSS. Better off going to a takeout Chinese food shop. The service, well, there was none. Ive had a few rude servers before but let it slide because I figured they might just be having a bad day. Used to come here a lot with family, but not anymore. I came in yesterday for lunch and the staff sat us in a large booth when we were only 2 people, and under the ac vent. It was cold but didnt complain or ask for different seating. Then after maybe 30 mins there eating, we went to grab food and when we came back they had given up our seats, without even asking us first, because a bigger family was coming in. They had a lot of small tables and small booths available when we got there so there was no point in sitting us in the big booth in the first place.Then when I went to pay and didnt leave them a tip because of this, they got mad and just snatched the receipt. Very rude customer service. Only good thing here is the food, but its not worth putting up with their attitude.

For a buffet, the food here is good, but the atmosphere desperately needs to be improved. For one, the carpet needs to be deep cleaned, if not entirely replaced. The last time I was here, there was an odd, unclean smell to the place which killed my appetite. If you have a wide range of ages in your party this place is great! Also looked good for large groups - lots of tables. My 93 year old friend enjoyed the cheese covered seafood (clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops). I hit the sushi bar hard. There’s even pizza and chicken nuggets for kids. I didn’t try the red wine, but I can tell you they fill the glass to the top. I heard a waitress tell a customer there was no beer, so I pointed out a Corona & everyone was happy. Tonight when we walked in we were waiting at the please wait to be seated Podium and people started coming in behind us and the supervisor or manager was standing over by the register with a waitress and we waited about five minutes before the people behind us went over to get a table and she started to see them before us, even though we were there first. Once you have had three plates they keep coming to your table and say Thank you. It is almost as though they are thanking you into leaving which I find hilarious. Also chicken with a peanut coating that I love. The evening meal offers King Crab Legs.Service is very attentive. There are three young women servicing the area where I usually sit. The food is good but they put bigger groups as a priority for seating. Its understandable to seat a group of 10 to seat them as soon as a big enough table is open but a group of 5, who came much later than us (A group of 3) gets to sit first? I dont think thats quite fair.

Been coming here maybe 3 times a year for a few years. quality, service, decor and food has gone down hill tremendously. the manager, some long haired doesnt give a damn about anything, does not cater to the unahppy customer!!!!!!!!!!!! came in to dirty table (corn kernels on the table- and, not from our dishes!! )mgr said he talked to the waitress and she didnt see it when we were seated!! well- the kernels were by the paper napkin holder... far away from her eyes! bathroom (womens) disgusting!!!!!!!!! looked like they hadnt been cleaned in days!!!! mgr said we only clean at 11 am and 2 pm.... too busy to look other times!!!! not worth the trouble, time and awful service and attitude.....i wish i could reverse the charge on my visa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This would be two stars if not for the fondue fountain. Its a nice small novelty, though really, they could do better. Clean it up a bit, freshen up the fruit, add a bit more variety to the things you can dip. Most of the food was quite awful, there were only a couple things that were actually *good* and warranted going back for seconds, or even finishing what I put in my plate to begin with.

2nd time going. My friend and I will be finding another Chinese buffet from now on. The first time we kind of understood while they werent going to be putting out much food again because we an hour before they close. This time we got there almost 3hours before they closed and their food choices were still as horrible as my first time. When I asked if they were going to put out certain items and one of the items was coconut shrimp. You can literally see and taste that it was thrown together. When she came and told me there was some more coconut shrimp on the bar,The shrimp was cold the sauce was still running as if they just took it out of the jar. The coconut flakes werent even cooked. I will not be returning back there.

Usually come on Sundays for the all day $14.99 special. It’s crowded but this is expected. Food is good, generally stick with noodles and the meats. Crab legs and the lobster rolls are a must. The sushi is made fresh. But the best part is the Mongolian grill. Limited dessert options (just want chocolate chip cookies) the only negative would be your beverage being refilled may take time.

My only two issues with this place is the staff assumed I knew how to order/ pick what I wanted. I walked in waited a few and was walked the a table then handed a meal ticket, I did not know what this was for or what to do next so I walked all the way back to the front to ask. Found out they seat you then you pay after, nothing anywhere indicating any of that. Second issue the waiter only came by once to see if we needed anything. After waiting 40ish minutes for a refill of cola I just walked into the waiter area and refilled my drink. While walking back to my seat I wondered how hard is it to notice when someones drink is empty when all the waiter needs to do is remove dishes refill liquids and bring the bill. One of three things dealing directly with a/ the customer. Other than that the place was pretty good I will go back again but wont give/ pay a tip if Im doing the work of the waiter.Went back today for dinner, the service was awesome and the food was great.

Not sure where to start... we came in as a party of 5 and were sat at a very small table that was not even cleaned from the previous guests with food and dishes still on the table. Drinks were not brought for ten minutes and when they were they were the wrong drinks. There is a good selection of food but most of it was cold. Went to the womens bathroom and there were two stalls one was covered in feces and the other had garbage all over the floor and urine all over the seat in the other. There is also a odor of feces in the restaurant. A kitchen worker entered the bathroom used the facilities, did not wash her hands and proceeded back into the kitchen. This place is a health code violation waiting to happen, will definitely not be returning.

I am a senior citizen, and I usually come for the crab legs. Last night, there were children, from the same big family running amuck, all over the restaurant. One almost knocked me down, and I told him, it was not a play ground, and that he should be walking. I also said something to the much older girl, who was running with him. I go into the restroom, and the girl tells the mother that the boy is running in the restaurant ( not her if course) and the mother looks at me and says some pretty nasty stuff to me. When they are leaving, the woman throws something at me and it lands in food. The next thing I know, I am surrounded by 4 men, and 3 women. Management did NOTHING. We wanted to leave, we could not, because the entire group was waiting for us in the parking lot. Finally, I called the police, and God Bless La Mesa PD, for coming, walking us to our car, and making sure, no one followed us home. I will never feel really safe there again.

Our favorite Chinese buffet restaurant. It offers excellent sushi and has a terrific Korean grill. It offers at least 4 different soups. And then there are 6 different steam tables each of which offers at least 10 different entrees that are always fresh and delicious.The restaurant decorations and art are very beautiful and deserve a walk aroud. There are amazing cork carvings. Huge paints themed with Chinese themes adorn every wall. Many look like originals.The price is very reasonable compared to similar restaurants and service is exceptional. If you like Chinese you have to try this restaurant!

I love this place, but my family seems to just like it.I love the variety. From carve it yourself roast beef, to frog legs, to crab legs, to a chocolate fountain, to wok style cook it for you while you wait, to fresh sushi, this place has it all. We love the wok style all you can eat, but the meat is diced so small, that once cooked, it seems like you didnt get any meat. I am sure this is by design, just like the mongolian places that have the very thinly sliced meat that is then frozen and curls up to occupy a lot of space. The wok at the China Super Buffet also has shrimp, tofu, and vegetables. I am sure I am missing a meat, but cant think of what it is. They have a good variety of the different types of sushi as well. They serve Coke and not Pepsi, so that is also a big plus to us coke fans!All in all, I do recommend this place!

This is the grossest restaurant Ive been to in san diego. The salmon was mush, the chicken wings and egg rolls were tasteless. I put a lot of items on my plate only to take one bite and decide that they were inedible. Granted, buffets are pretty gross as a general rule, but even so, this place was bad. The chocolate covered strawberries are one of the only redeeming qualities. If I ever go again, Im going to just load my plate with chocolate covered strawberries because everything else is barely worthy of being dog food.

Good selection of food for the price, friendly efficient staff, is surprisingly decent looking on the inside. The bathroom was kinda cramped but relatively clean. Would love a better selection of sushi but for 15 bucks (drink included) it was great.
