This might be the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! My boyfriend and I got the pot stickers, egg rolls, black pepper beef, walnut shrimp, orange chicken and a pork dish. Which was far too much for two people but I have never been more excited about my leftovers. The service was also great. Everyone was very attentive. 10/10 recommend!

The food was very rich and salty. It seems like they see use the same sauce on most of the dishes we were hoping the food would be better after the change in management. The 1 ton soup seem to be soy sauce and water with just the 1 ton wrapper in every bowl.

First time I’ve ever had Chin’s. Heard good things so I finally decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed. The service was great and the food was delicious. Highly recommend the salt and pepper wings, the honey walnut shrimp and tangerine chicken. Will definitely be ordering again from here soon!

If you love Chinese food you HAVE to come here!It is AMAZING. We had the pepper beef, lo mein, combination fried rice, and the garlic chicken. I could not choose my favorite because they were all super tasty. The lunch specials are a generous portion and the service was great.

Their good is so good especially their pork wontons crisps. Food is always hot and fresh when we pick it up. When I did go to pick it up I waited for a bit and when I asked if my order was ready the waitress just hurriedly told me “go look for your name” and pointed at the rack of orders before going into the kitchen.

This is the worst Chinese food that I’ve ever had. It’s WAY overpriced as well. I have no idea how this restaurant remains open? Anyone who knows what decent quality Chinese food tastes like, would never eat here. This was my first time trying this restaurant.I ordered the cream cheese wontons appetizer, and was utterly shocked when I opened their small envelope wrapper to find the tiniest wontons! Honestly… this was a joke! Ridiculously overpriced for what you get. My shrimp lomein was greasy and unusually sweet, which it should not have been. It was truly horrible.Do yourself and your wallet a favor, and don’t give this restaurant your business.

Lived in Del Mar for years and always wanted to try Chins. Glad I did. Food and service were excellent. As a New Yorker, Im accustomed to great Chinese food. Chins food was right up there with the best of them. Highly recommended.

This place is completely dead inside. Went in around 1pm. No one was inside, one server, one mgmt staff present. Only about 4 total tables got occupied with customers during our lunch. Food is edible, but is definitely American chinese, not authentic Chinese preparation (read: a lot of sweet and syrupy sauces, lots of salt, little-to-no spice). If you understand this is Americanized chinese, it is an ok place. I just feel sorry that they get zero foot traffic in this location. They really need to move down the street towards 15th and Camino Del Mar...

Been to Chins many times this was my first time in Del Mar. The food is consistent. I usually get the lunch special. Its a lot of food and the price is good. My favorite is the honey chicken. Its supposed to be spicy but they make it super mild for me. The cashew chicken was the other dish. All of the food is cooked fresh and is tasty. I really like the cucumber thats included. The service was quick and pleasant. Im always happy to see consistently when going to one in a chain, if you havent tried a Chins give it a try.

My Fiance and I visited Chins Del Mar this Sunday evening. This is the second Chins location that we have visited, and both have been wonderful. The del mar Chins is small, elegantly decorated and intimate. The staff was warm and attentive and we were seated quickly upon entering. The Tangerine Beef, my favorite dish, is always perfect, and this time was no exception. We also tried the Cashew Chicken which was delicious, particularly the mushrooms. We walked away completely satisfied as we have come to expect when visiting a Chins location. Highly recommend for excellent quality Chinese food and service.

My girlfriend and I went to the Chins Del Mar location last night and had an amazing experience! We ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp and the Sweet and Sour Chicken and both were so good and the portions were so generous, we were able to take some home for leftovers. I like the food here- Normally I do take out but I dined in for the first time last week and everything was great. My favorite meal is the honey walnut shrimp, which is gluten-free. I also had a meal with shrimp and scallops thst was really good too. Ordering take out is easy- just call and give infopvrr the phone, then pick up on 15-25 min. My son and I like to get takeout from here and drive to the beach nearby to enjoy the view while we eat. They usually ask if we want forks when I go in, so if they dont and you want to, be sure to ask. Evetyone has always been friendly and kind here.

Sesame chicken is my favorite! I can say with every dish I have had here since Chin`s has taken over has been great! Only thing that is strange to me is the new phone order service they use, it goes to a third party that seems likes its off site and makes it feel sketchy, but I guess it does the job.

First time dining at Chins and it was excellent! The service was wonderful. We started with the por dumplings and they were the best Ive ever had. Then we had the Mongolian beef and the shrimp lo main. The portions were huge and we took home a lot of food. Just as good the next day. Highly recommend!

Tried to call in a pickup order. The person taking the order, who is not on site, got my credit card number wrong, had to call the restaurant to see if something I had ordered previously was still in the menu(it wasn’t), asked me if I wanted to give a gratuity (ahead of time, which I didn’t), and ultimately got my one dinner entre order wrong. They can sure learn a lesson about the meaning of “customer service”. I’ll never go there again. I sure miss China Cafe!

My husband and I don’t usually go out to eat for Chinese food but I had heard so many wonderful things about this place we decided to try it out. And boy I will definitely be coming back!!! The location is absolutely stunning. Loved the ambiance. The service was quick, friendly, and gave great recommendations. I’d recommend the Beijing Beef and the Shanghai Egg Rolls.

Used to be Double Happiness Chinese Food.Chins is a small franchise out of Escondido, (((North San Diego))). Pretty much same food, newly renovated inside. Prices a bit higher, but, Ill continue eating there and send guests from my hotel.

I had been wanting to try the old place. Then Igot the coupon for Chins and I will definitely be back! So many good options. The egg rolls were delicious. Wish my level 5 spicy Szechuan garlic chicken was a bit spicier. Szechuan (Mapo) Tofu was good. Also tried the Sizzling Beef and Scallop which was very flavorful. Cant wait for them to finish remodeling!

So disappointed in Chins Szechuan. Chins Del Mar occupies the location of Double Happiness, a longtime local icon of American Chinese cuisine. When Double Happiness sold to Chef Zhu a few years back, the American Chinese menu was augmented with some more exotic and traditional Shanghai cuisine. It was truly delicious! It was heaven... but heaven fell victim to covid 19.When Chins opened, we had hopes for at least a passable local Chinese alternative. Weve tried twice. Both times the food was tasteless, poorly prepared, and without character. The first time, I blamed it on teething issues at a newly opened restaurant. The second time, I just discarded my entree.Ive lived in Del Mar fort many years. Its so sad to see a restaurant fall from delicious to discardable. Ill not go back.🙁

Worst chinese food i have ever had. I got sick right after eating it . I ordered tangerine chicken white rice and chicken and snow peas tonight. Will never be back . High prices for awful tasting food that made me sick. Do not eat here . Red flag was nobody was eating here. It was a dead restaurant. Eat at your own risk! Update i had to go to the emergency room, I got food poisoning, this was the first thing I ate all day . So it was definitely this restaurant.

We just ordered three dishes: a chicken lo mein with level 0 spice, moo shoo pork with level 2 spice, and kung pao chicken with level 3 spice - and they all tasted the same! The worst kung pao I have ever had. All three had a light colored sauce and they were all very bland. We loved Double Happiness and were looking forward to trying Chins, but it was a big disappointment

Tried Chins for the first time at this location. The staff was really friendly. They recommended the Tangerine Shrimp, and my 8 year old ordered the Imperial Soup. Both dishes were packed with flavor. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the soup was light and flavorful. I recommend ordering an extra bag of the wonton crisps that came with the soup, trust me. My child was giving me dirty looks each time I put my fingers in that bag haha. The restaurant is walking distance from the beach which is a plus. I will definitely come back.
