Food and service were exceptional. We celebrated my husbands birthday here and it was for a party of 20. There was an hour wait on a Wednesday night. The servers were attentive, our orders came in a timely manner. The food were delicious, fresh and authentic. We got the $89/person tier and was worth it. The only down side is the atmosphere. It’s really smokey inside. Our party has to step outside occasionally to breath fresh air. The night after my visit here, I had an asthma flare up =\ Also, I don’t recommend this place for party with kids. Definitely not a kid friendly spot due to open flame, smoke, alcohol being served and no kids menu. *we didn’t have kids in our party* 2 stars for the atmosphere for the cool decors and unique theme and also great music!

Dope spot for wagyu enthusiasts. Service is lightning fast. Big ups to our server for being on top of everything. Food came out promptly. Everything was good or really good. The 90-minute time limit is more than enough time to eat practically everything on the menu like we did. I would definitely come again.

Very nice place overall, the atmosphere can be a bit loud, however the foods are definitely worth it. Meat quality are as they claim, A5 and Australian wagyu definitely not one of those stores that sells you the cheaper cuts for the A5 name tag. They come by very often to ask for next rounds, so youll definitely get your worth of food here. Also nigiris and stuff are a plus. I do recommend doing at least the gold or diamond though.

Dined at Chubby Cattle in Monterey Park and was blown away by the exquisite wagyu beef selections, especially the melt-in-your-mouth uni sushi. The ambiance is vibrant, though the music can get lively. Service was top-notch with staff expertly grilling our selections to perfection. Its a haven for wagyu lovers and a culinary delight Id recommend to everyone. Cant wait for my next visit!

I had a fantastic experience at Chubby Cattle. The food was superb, and the attentive staff consistently ensured we felt well taken care of. We picked the Diamond package and it’s worth every buck, which includes a set of toro sushi, it was the best Toro sushi I tasted since Japan. The high-quality meat made our Japanese BBQ experience truly delightful. Just a tip: bring an umbrella on hot days, as theres no shade while waiting in line. Lin was extremely friendly and went above and beyond.

This is a Japanese BBQ. 90 minutes all you can eat.The meet (beef and seafood) are fresh. Recommended all the limited dishes. Not recommended to try edamame and lamb chop at this restaurant. All other dishes are recommended.Really recommended for lovers with only one person love to eat raw meat. I am not a Nigiri lover, but my friend is. This is the first time the we could try Nigiri together since I could grill the fish to the cooked level that I want.

(11/04/2023) Very friendly service. It is a limited 90 minutes for AYCE. There is less waiting time for Saturday lunch. (Less than 30 minutes) Wagyu A5 is delicious, and the seafood is fresh as well. Recommended diamond combo ($89) because it has versatile A5 dishes for AYCE. This is a good place for AYCE Wagyu and it is worth a try. I would definitely come back again for more Wagyu.

I came with my girl friend and it was a good experience. We chose the $88 menu. Food is amazing, we had a lot wagyu, A5 chuck eye and A5 Ootoro are must try, and try wagyu uni sushi and sweet shrimp if you can eat raw fish, the meat platter was pretty, service was great, server grilled for us, overall vibe is good.

Hey y‘all! Just had to drop a quick note about my new fav bbq Chubby Cattle. Guys, this place is a vibe! The ambiance is super chill - perfect for a laid-back dinner with friends or a fun date night. The A5 Wagyu beef is out of this world, so tender and flavorful, definitely the star of the show. Overall, the quality of the barbecue is top-notch, everything was super fresh and well-prepared. The bbq experience is top-notch with a crazy variety of fresh ingredients to choose from. Service was on point too, thestaffs are so attentive and friendly. Genius! All in all, 10/10 recommend. I have been to many Yakaniku restaurants and AYCE Korean-BBQ in the US and Japan. This much Wagyu beef is not what the average human is used to. Be prepared for to much of a good thing.The first table to be seated upon opening. Gave a unique perspective to see how they get it all done. There is a list of the AYCE meats, then the one-time served items. Pretty much everyone always gets the Diamond selection. The pineapple and green mango soda is sprite, with a ton of syrup dropped in it FYI.I gave the food 4 stars because none of the meat is marinated, barely any sauce selection provided. Salt and 2 types of soy sauce. Just more liquid salt. No sriracha, kalby, ponzu, or even Heinz 57. Even though it is Chinese owned, it is a Japanese restaurant. Minimal on the flavorings and more on the display and texture of the food. The service is organized chaos. Servers are everywhere with no specific sections. Order from anyone with a tablet is what I was told. Great decor, Japanese design just like youre back in Shibuya, house music, and a chillin steer. Watching you eat his friends and family. With a big smile on your face and full tummy.XPOT and Chubby Cattle are on my one and done list. Great experience and indulgence of 🍖 selections. $400-500 is what to expect for 2-4 people.

Overall: 4.4/5 (dine in)Reservation is recommended for this place since theres always a line. Note that the Yelp estimated time and what the restaurant tells you are completely different. They also do a mass text to a few tables notifying them that their tables are ready but they give it to the first party that arrives. Terrible.Their AYCE style is a bit different. You choose the tier that you want and then they basically served all the nigiri and the most popular/expensive meat in a nicely displayed chest. They also had a few of the appetizers already set up at the back of the table (house made salad, kimchi, sesame tofu, picked radish).Our server was Jimmy who is really cool & a grill master. We were so mesmerized by his cooking and how he got the nice grill marks on the meat. Hes fun to chat with as well and helped us grill most of meats since he saw us struggling when he passed by our table. Each time he left the table, he reopened the meat box to show off that beautiful presentation.We got the highest tier which is diamond ($88/non-member; $78/member). We celebrated my Mom’s birthday here, and the atmosphere was great for the occasion. We tried the gold menu today, got the chance to give each menu item a try.The experience was pleasant - great food and exceptional service! Alex was thorough and he made many trips to our table. The different is Gold and Diamond has more choice for A5 Wagyu. Diamond is unlimited orders on Wagyu, more options on seafood and sushi.All the sets come with variant of appetizer, sides, sushi, drinks, and popsicle.I would suggest go with Gold or Diamond! Definitely worth more value. Overall the quality of meat is premium but oily. Seafood is nice. Sushi just basic.Btw, they prepare bib for customers. Definitely ome here early if you want to beat the crowd. I came around 5pm, and I got seated fairly quickly for a party of four. The meat quality here is pretty good. I would definitely come back. Service was great they always come and check on you if you want to order more meat. Theyre also strict on time so once you get there you should start ordering your meats. Best part they also have ice cream!

Came here around 1pm and got seated immediately. We did the silver tier, which covers your usual basic cuts. I have to say though, pretty much every meat we had was soft and tender. Even the serloin was easy to bite into! I also really loved the sesame seed tofu, to the point I think I ate like 6 of them. So while its more on the pricier side of all you can eat bbq, its also definitely higher quality meats, so you get your moneys worth. Its definitely worth trying out and Ill likely return some time in the future.

The waitlist can be quite long, so its advisable to become an NFT member with Chubby Cattle to secure priority reservations. Took my family to try this place out! I suggest going early to avoid long wait. Theres only an iPad for you to put your name and party size on the waiting list, I went there at 4pm, they re-open at 4:30pm and there was already a big crowd at the line. They only allow you to put your name down once its 4:30pm. Getting in is a bit hectic, but once you to go in, the whole experience lives up to the hype. We chose the diamond tier menu for $88. I honestly think thats its worth every penny. You get limited items like grilled oyster, lobster tail, uni sushi with wagyu, and a bunch of high-end wagyu need. Youre only allowed 90 minutes for the meal, so if you miss the first round when they open at 4:30pm, the next available table will probably be around 6pm. All the servers were super attentive and friendly. They quickly bring you whatever you need at the table, the food comes out fast and they will even help you cook a little bit. I saw a crew of 4 clean up a table in under 4 minutes, super efficient! Overall, I highly recommend for people to try this place out. I would suggest you come early so you dont have to wait too long!

I almost gave this place a 4, but after writing the entire review, I just cant bring myself to rate them higher than 3 stars. Here are the reasons:Lets start with the food. In short, very few things looked like what they were on the menu, and they were overpriced. First, the items labeled as limited were the only good things. This meant each person could only order them once. We were relieved that we didnt choose the diamond option because even the gold option wasnt worth it. For example, the A5 tender meat came as three paper-thin slices the size of a playing card, and it was limited. The M9 top blade and M9 sirloin were also paper thin. Even though they were all you can eat, they lacked the marbling shown on the menu. I began to wonder if they were actually wagyu meats. The miso sea bass was overly salted and heavily seasoned, while the squid was the worst and should be avoided at all costs. The scallops were limited to two thumb-sized pieces per person, but they were over-seasoned with garlic, which ruined the umami flavor. The side dishes were probably the only saving grace. However, even those fell short. The beef tartar was decent, and the flavor of the wagyu shank was good, but the steamed eggs stood out as one of the best items. The wagyu sandwich had overcooked and overly salty meat. The salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, and salmon carpaccio were delicious, but the two types of wagyu nigiri looked nothing like the picture. The thin meat wrapped around the rice instead of being placed on top like a traditional nigiri, and the meat was almost fully cooked. Overall, the quality of the food didnt justify the price.Moving on to the service, the wait was long. My friends arrived at 5pm and were told it would be a 90-minute wait. We all gathered back around 6:20 pm and waited outside for another friend. Despite arriving earlier than expected, the maître d displayed extreme impatience with us, insisting that we either go in immediately or give our table away. Although we didnt mind where we sat, her attitude was awful, which lowered their service rating to a 2. However, the rest of the wait staff were professional and friendly, raising the rating back up to a 4. However, they kept forgetting our orders. My friend ordered salmon carpaccio four separate times, and they only remembered to bring it twice after multiple complaints. They never once proactively came to change our grill; we had to request it. Taking all of this into consideration, I cant rate the overall service higher than a 3.On the positive side, the atmosphere and decor were great, with a modern and vibrant vibe. However, they enforce a 90-minute time limit, so you most likely wont be able to linger with your friends afterwards.

Additional comment on June 23rd:Two individuals experienced diarrhea after the meal. There were a total of seven people present, and two of them consumed Japanese sweet shrimp and oysters, which both led to diarrhea. Among them, one person had five Japanese sweet shrimp and two oysters, experiencing severe diarrhea five times from the afternoon until late at night. Although it cannot be confirmed whether it is directly related to the ingredients, both individuals who had diarrhea consumed the aforementioned two ingredients. The other five individuals did not consume Japanese sweet shrimp, and out of the five, only one person had two oysters without experiencing any diarrhea.Comment on June 22nd:Chubby Cattle in Monterey Park, I made a special trip to taste it and would like to share the following real experiences:The waiting time in line was extremely long, way too long. It seemed like the restaurant intentionally operated this way to create the image of a long line outside. (They started business at 12:00 PM on June 22nd, and we arrived at 11:45 AM. We lined up at the entrance, and there were already about ten customers ahead of us. After opening at 12:00 PM, the staff led customers into the restaurant table by table, with an average of 5-10 minutes per table. We had to wait until 12:40 PM to be seated, even though there were only six occupied tables inside while the entrance was crowded with waiting customers. There were only three waiters taking orders and serving dishes, and one of them had to go back and forth to the entrance to seat customers. The severe understaffing led to excessively long waiting times at the entrance.)The food was served buffet-style with a per-person charge. They had three set menus: $46, $59, and $88. We chose the $88 per person set, and the limited edition dishes were served quickly.Many of the unlimited dishes were unavailable. For example, three types of free juices were not available, cod fish was not available, and there was no cream ice cream (in reality, there was a large amount of cream ice cream in a freezer outside the restroom, so it was unclear why the waiter said they only had chocolate ice cream).The space was cramped, and the ventilation system seemed to be ineffective. The whole interior was filled with smoke, creating a smoky barbecue experience. After finishing the meal, we were completely covered in smoke and smelled strongly of barbecue smoke from head to toe.In conclusion, the ingredients and taste would receive a rating of 7 out of 10, but considering the waiting time at the entrance, the indoor environment, and the overall experience, I can only give it a rating of 4 out of 10. I dont currently plan on returning for another visit.

My friends and I came at around 5pm to get in the waitlist on a Wednesday night and were seated within about an hour. You get 90 minutes to order as much as you want as soon as you’re seated.We chose the gold menu and out of the different cuts, I really liked the tender meat, rib fingers, tongue, and brisket. Some of the menu items are limited stock, which means each person at the table can only order 1 serving of it. The scallops, which were limited stock, were delicious.Service was absolutely amazing. The staff was super attentive and kind. We even got a free bottle of soju and birthday shoutout/singalong for my friend. The decorations inside are pretty cool—samurais, swords, and a huge cow head wearing shades haha.There’s lots of free parking everywhere so you don’t have to worry about that.

WOW! What an amazing experience and food! Usually I dont like to jump in the hype train but for Chubby Cattle, I had to. I believe the wait 2 to 3 hour wait times and I also believe its worth the wait. Fortunately we went in a Monday and arrived 20 minutes before opening. As soon as 4:30 pm hit, they opened the doors and we were seated immediately for a party of 4.The atmosphere and staff were absolutely phenomenal. There are three levels to their AYCE option (Silver = $40, Gold = $59 & Diamond $88). We chose the Silver option and man oh man, it was so gooooood! Next time, we definitely trying the Diamond tier. Anything that says limited really means you get one serving of it per person and those limited items are delish! Everything else is also delish, everything is delish! Cant go wrong with anything. You can taste the quality of the meats and appetizers are not just any ordinary appetizers, theyre some quality yummy dishes.Service was superb, staff took away our dishes so quick, grill changes happen so often, they come by and check up on the table often too so be ready to order more. Always be ready to order because there is a 90 minute time limit and they are strict on it. Id say around the 70 ish minute mark, they gonna ask for your last order. I dont like the 90 minute time limit but I understand and everything is so fast that 90 minute is just barely enough time.- I highly recommend trying Chubby Cattle. If you can avoid the weekends that would be preferred, less of a wait.- Silver option was amazing. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant, and the service is decent overall. I particularly enjoyed the dishes that were limited to one per person, as they were really delicious.However, I was disappointed with the service when it came to ordering the unlimited meat. Despite placing our order with the servers, we had to wait for almost half an hour before any dishes arrived at our table. We placed another order, but only one or two dishes were brought out, and by this point, we were already approaching the 1.5-hour time limit. It wasnt until the last 20 minutes of our allotted time that we finally received the second round of dishes.

Went there yesterday during the soft opening, the host at the front desk is very nice and she smiles all the time, making us feels very welcome. Servers are so nice and fast, I tipped them 25% which is not what I normally do. food qualities are great!!! I was so surprised the price is too reasonable for Wagyu beef. definitely will go again, my favorite local BBQ restaurant now!

It has a great concept of selling an AYCE BBQ experience with premium options. The meat quality was good. However, it was one of the worst dining experiences Ive had. The tables are very small for large groups and the ventilation is horrific. Service was ok, but one server was absolutely awful. Pacing was incredibly rushed, and they implemented a 6 plate order max per order (its their rule whether you have a table of 2 or 7) which limited the amount of food we could order. We arrived at 4:25pm on a weekend and there was already a long line (we missed the 1st wave and got seated at 6:10pm). They don’t take reservations. It could be a decent experience if you come in a small group (2-4 people), but it was absolutely awful with a group of 7.Food- 4 starsWe ordered the gold tier and the items were a hit or miss. The M6 short rib, brisket, tuna nigiri and wagyu uni nigiri were good. We only received 1 order of the A5 tender meat due to limited supply, and it was decent (not the marbling and fattiness that you expect from most A5 beef). Everything else was standard (the M9 meats and seafood)The ordering system was incredibly frustrating. They allowed a max of 6 orders per order on the menu (this included appetizers, nigiri, meat, seafood and veggies), for a table of 7! So we basically could order 2-3 meats (the plates were pretty small), 1 nigiri, 1 appetizer, 1 seafood, and 1 vegetable plate at a time. This was an incredibly waste of time as we were only able to order 3-4 times before they showed up with the check. They even had a last call order when we were 50 minutes into our meal and they still enforced the 6 order maximum per order. We had to complain about ordering a bit more during last call since we were still hungry due to their ordering protocol, and they somewhat obliged with more orders at last call.Ventilation- 1 starThe building isn’t ready for an indoor BBQ atmosphere, as it was pretty small and poorly ventilated. Groups of 4 or more were seated near the wall with a weak vent. Smaller groups were seated in the middle of the restaurant without a vent, but they had high ceilingsWe were seated in the outer booth tables, which can seat 4 comfortably, but was packed with our group of 7. As mentioned, the vents at the booths felt like low-end home appliances. The smoke was awful as we reeked of smoke. She came back 20 minutes later (when we still had 20 minutes left and we literally just received our last plates of raw meat) to tell me that I had to pay right now. I understand enforcing their 90 minute dining rule to accommodate more guests, but I was disgusted by how they were forcing us out when we still had 20 minutes on the clock and our last order just arrived.Ambiance- 2 starsThe interior design was nice with a modern bar and great roof decorations. It would be a cool experience to dine in the middle of the restaurant with a small group. However, it was miserable being in the outer booths with a large group. It was like eating in a house of smoke with no windows with loud music blaring. Theyre going for the hipster BBQ vibe, but it felt like a torture chamberBottom LineI rarely write negative reviews, but this was appalling. Tried this new place during its soft opening. I was excited at first thinking it’s the same concept as the Vegas Chubby Cattle. But it’s actually Wagyu bbq (all you can eat). We still enjoyed it.There are 3 tiers $46/$59/$88. Meat quality is top notch as always. The higher the tier the more Wagyu options there are. We weren’t timed during our meal but I’m not sure if there’ll be time limit after the grand opening.I really love that there’re so many appetizer options. And even the appetizers are with high quality. The only thing we were struggling with was the soup. Their spoon was more of a spork (spoon and fork) so I had to drink directly out of the bowl. Each dish is usually 1-2 pieces but they come very quickly after ordering and servers are attentive. They check in with you and clear the empty plates regularly. Soft drinks are free too.The vibe is great. All servers are really passionate and friendly. Kindly note that they will NOT cook for you. You will have to do the cooking yourself, which we didn’t mind.Interior is modern and fashion. Great for social media. 20~30 tables in the dining area. The waiting area is limited. This place certainly lives up to its hype and is a great added gem to the SGV. And before I rave about their meat quality, i think its important that management is aware of their poor ventilation system. Immediately stepping inside, youre transported to a building thats engulfed with smoke. The lack of windows and proper airflow made it impossible to feel comfortable while eating. In fact, it was quite suffocating and I was not only battling the heat all throughout my dining experience but also caught myself wanting to leave partway just to catch a breath. This venue is small and so the tight space with the added lack of ventilation was absolutely horrible. When pointing this out to the wait staff, they kindly cranked up the AC. It helped a lot as I felt an immediate breeze. But seriously, please just make sure your AC is running on blast. I dont understand how safety code is even passed at such conditions.Aside from that, the quality is top notch. You rarely find meat quality at this caliber. I love the AYCE format and some of the limited items truly makes you want to order more of just those items on top of your already given choices.They have a strict 90 minute dining policy and they truly keep tabs. Expect a long wait of at least 2 hours on the weekend. Parking is plentiful on the street and underground in their parking garage. This is ideal for small groups, ideally 4 max to dine comfortably. Large parties will be split to different tables.Great place but this ventilation system really needs immediate attention. Expect to smell profusely like oil and smoke when completing your meal.

You have only 90 minutes to order but they take forever to bring you out meat you’re only allowed 6 protein at a time! And it’s stuffy and hot in the place no AC!!!! The food and atmosphere was fine. My only complaint was the hostess last night. She told us our table would be ready at 6:30pm for our party of 4. At 6:20pm she said our table was ready and asked if everyone in our party was present, when we told her we still had one more person we were waiting on she turned sour and pretty much told us to either get seated and start our 90-time limit or we will have to wait an additional 1.5 hours. Probably won’t be back, just wanted to go for the experience. The staff inside the restaurant did make up for the difference of the hostess/manager.

3/5Party of 3 adults and 1 toddler.We went on a Monday. Doors opens at 12pm. I was told to come by 1130am to make sure you get a table. We arrived at 1130am and there was already 4 people in line. By 12pm, there was a total of 24 people in line. We all got in.When doors opened at 12pm, we all got sat down right away. They were short staff. We didnt get to place our order not til 10min later.Food was amazing 8/10. We almost tried everything but we was stuffed. Not alot of side items to choose from but you are goin here for their meats 🤷‍♂️ so I was ok with it.Service was horrible 2/10. Server kept on telling us he was the only server. He was nice and tried his best. Owner fault for not making sure to have enough staff, especially paying premium for this. At one point when placing another order, I asked him if there was any more food coming. I just wanted to make sure so we dont waste anything. He didnt know and repeated he had too many tables to worry bout. Napkins, utensils werent automatically provided. We had to ask for it after the food. When every food came out, they didnt explain what it was or what type of cut of meat it is or how long it should cook for. The sauces on the table, we had no clue it is or whats the best dip for which meats. I know they were under staff, but paying premium price should be a good full experience. We wasnt the only table experiencing this. We looked around, it was the same exact deal with them.We ordered the platinum deal. Highest selection. $88. Our toddler was free. (Shes 4years old) under 5 is free but at the end we was charged half price. 🤦‍♂️one thing I shouldve checked the itemized receipt. Not sure if he removed that price. Total with tip was $339 (3adults, 18%tip)At the end, food was good but the experience on service sucked so bad I wouldnt go back. Great food, very polite staff (especially Betty) highly recommend it if you like all you can eat bbq. The meat and sides are nice. Personally Id recommend the skirt steak beef tounge from the meats and the carpaccio for the appetizers. All you can eat has a 1 1/2 hour time limit but you will most likely enjoy it like I had. That said it is approximately $46 per person at the time of posting for the silver option with the ther options costing more so keep that in mind when calculating costs.Tried the diamond option recently, Its pricey but well worth it, staff are very friendly and helpful offering tips on how to cook the seafood if you are not used to it. When ordering from diamond option they start with all the limited stock items first due to them being very tasty. Overall, I highly recommend it if you ever want to treat people to a more expensive but tasty and well worth it meal.

I understand busy restaurant (Chubby Cattle, Monterey Park Location) like this will be a long wait for seating, however not unfairly due to part size.I checked in the restaurant for a party of 2 around 6 on Thursday 4/27, and the front host told me the estimated wait time is 55mins. I think it is ok to wait. After about 55 minutes, the host told me we were the next party to be seated. Then I am waiting inside. After she told me, we were the next party to be seated, she bought in another 2 party of party of 2 seated. I didn’t ask why someone else seated before us, I just think they are party show up after been called before. After another 20 minutes, I asked the host, how long will be the wait it, and she told me will be another 20 minutes. Since she will need to combine “my small table” for the party of 5, which was just check in 10 minutes ago (not to mention they are told the host they are annual membership holder for the restaurant). I ask the host why she will need to give “my small table” to the large party, she told me they don’t have too much large table, they will need to combine it for them.I feel the restaurant treated me unfair, since I only have a party of 2, and the baby is free. This restaurant is AYCE, party of 5 spend way more than me, therefore, they don’t care if I left or not, they will have to take the party of 5 business. It is 7:30pm, and the host told me will be another 20 minutes wait, and I have to left since my 2 yrs old is hungry, and I have to go somewhere else to get her food. If she told me it will be 2 hours wait, I am good, and I can plan accordingly with my little one. Not like telling me I am the next to be seated, and then another 20 minutes and 20 minutes, and give my seat to some party that just come in. I have to leave the restaurant after 1.5 hours of wait and with my 2yrs old with hungry stomach.
