2023-10-16 06:47:37Honestly such a hidden gem in Hawthorne. Love the place, good customer service and little to no wait time for your food to be done. The food is amazing honestly, at this point Ive tried more than 3/4s of the menu and the quality is great EVERY time. I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for something new.

2023-11-08 22:08:55Wow .. so disappointed.. chubby rice used to have some of the best flavorful fresh Chinese food in the neighborhood what the hell made them change to a now overpriced hibachi restaurant ?? Who will ever know but it was a very poor business move. The first time I found out about this I walked out since that day I specifically wanted their Chinese food which no longer exists on their menu just steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies and fried rice with the plates ranging from $20-35 which was a HUGE price jump from before being $10-$15 for a nice portion of food. I decided to give it a try and honestly I was disappointed i spent $30 for the ribeye plate I was given very lil meat but a TON of fried rice enough to serve 4 people and some veggies I rate the whole meal a 4 it’s edible but when comparing to other hibachi restaurants it measure up pretty low and for the price you’re better off going to Benihana’s for lunch having a way better ambience better tasting hibachi and and more than likely will be paying less than going here to chubby yaki. I won’t be back .. unless they bring Chubby Rice back

2019-01-17 03:13:23Since it was a rainy day, I decided to order take out and try a new place. This one is easy to see from the road IF you are going westbound. If you’re coming from the east and don’t know the landmarks in the area, you will miss it. The lady who helped me was very friendly and nice. Now, on to the food. I ordered spicy shrimp fried rice and boooooy was it spicy. Enough to burn your nose hairs off, but still delectable. I bought my husband Mongolian beef with brown rice and steamed veggies. He says it was really good and seasoned great (which is a major plus). I also ordered the cream cheese rangoons. Those were pretty good and had scallions inside. I didn’t care much for the dipping sauce which was made from Coca Cola. I would definitely try other food items in the future. We didn’t get any fortune cookies, so I’m not sure if she forgot or if they don’t offer it.

2023-10-30 03:35:45I drove by and saw that they are changing the name of the restaurant to “Chubby Yaki.” They are still closed but the signage has changedETA: I have been here since they reopened. It’s the same owners. From what the employees said, the grandmother retired and the granddaughter has taken over. Unfortunately, I won’t be back because the food is just not my style. I’m not a fan of the teppanyaki places that have popped up in the last few years simply because the dishes always have too much rice when compared to how much vegetables and protein that they give you. My plate was more than half rice, I divided it into two and it was still too much rice. These are easily 2,000+ calorie plates. It also seems like these places all charge higher prices because they give you these huge portions…of mostly rice. I was a fan of chubby rice for the healthier options and sides.

2017-06-05 06:12:24Best unknown Chinese spot Ive been to. Its a discreet place in an even more discreet plaza. The restaurant stands out in quality. Ive been here twice and will continue to. Dumplings, Mongolian beef and even the fried rice are stellar dishes. Awsome service, great decor and decent pricing.

2023-11-14 00:24:56There are some people that say that prices are too high but it is well compensated with the amount of food they gave you. They may have changed the food menu but the food is still delicious 🤤 and it is worth to have it a try. They gave you enough food for lunch to feed two people!!!

2018-10-09 19:45:13Good times .🤩Very happy here . 😀The service is super cool and happy.😄The parking is kinda small and squeezy but happy. 🚗😄The menu is standard issue Chinese menu but happy 🥦🍿🍚🍤🥟🥡This place was a simple affaire very quick in-and-out in and casual. 🏃♂️🏃♀️Just plain simple no fuss just get you done. 🙋🏻♂️Proportion sizes are fair for the money dont expect a lot but get enough. 🐲You can order several dishes and share.🤔

2018-11-21 23:32:26For value, taste, and wait, Chubby Rice offers a healthy platter of various meat and veggies dishes. The panel of sauces is a must, with interesting flavors like cola and Sriracha. There is a parking lot, but it can sometimes fill up.
