Absolute hidden gem. Weve been travelling across the US for the past 2 weeks and this is honestly the best restaurant Ive been to, we liked it so much we came twice and we were only in LA for 2 nights!Incredible food, beautifully presented and really tasty, vegetables were perfectly cooked and looking round at other tables it doesnt look like theres a bad item on the menu! Huge portions too and at a reasonable price, highly highly recommend!

This place is the worst. I showed up a few minutes before they opened and the person setting up tables screamed at me that they werent open yet even though the doors were wide open. OK, fair. I asked Is it OK if I use the bathroom while I wait? Im late to my kids soccer game and Im pregnant. NO! You have to buy something! Thats why I went there! To buy something but they werent serving yet. I thought about going back but the restrooms at Starbucks, Jamba juice and Rite Aid were all closed and I thought I was going to soil myself and be starving so I just went to the game. I dont care how the food was in the past. This encounter was so nasty Ill never go back.

Good and tasty food. Friendly staff and quick service. The place is a little small and lots of customers packed inside. Too many small tables too close to each other. The place is noisy and loud. Its located inside the shopping Plaza, so theres plenty of parking space. They also offer catering, pickup and delivery.

Customer Service is NON-EXISTENTOne person walked in ahead of me. He submitted his order online/app, got his food, looked in bag containing his order, asked for condiments, took his bag and left. I stood at the counter for over 10 minutes waiting for them to take my order.While I was there the phone was ringing and they ignored it. It was still ringing when I left. All I wanted was hot and sour soup, which was probably sitting in one of the pots on the stove, it wouldnt have taken much effort for them to get what I came for.Heres my take: If you want to get food from this place, order online and come pick it up.There are several chinese restaurants in this area. I left and went to another Asian restaurant nearby.

Food was okay. When you hear a bowl get dropped on the floor and the response is laughter and the bowl is used to serve a customer. You then mention it to your server. And after everyone acts as if you are just complaining for no reason. Manager did comp part of the meal, but that was because I hardly ate it and it was supposed to be pepper steak but was more of an excess sauce with no flavor whatsoever. Dont recommend

Food, beer, and service were all 10/10!!! Proper table service and real legit food! Healthier than I would’ve expected, freshly made, and so delicious! Pretty good value considering the portions, my bf and I had beer, the city wok chicken with rice and a half order of broccoli, and it was plenty of food. And the service was seriously excellent! Super friendly and hard working staff :) will be back!!

Way back when when this restaurant was on Riverside Dr they were fabulous. So this weekend I decided to run by and grab some food hoping they were half as good as they used to be. Boy was I quickly disappointed. I ordered a shrimp and chicken chow mein, 1 order of 2 egg rolls, and an order of hard noodles. I received 2 chow mein orders that tasted like old, dirty shoelaces, 2 orders of 4 egg rolls ($17) and no hard noodles. I could barely stomach my shrimp order. Dry, no seasoning and tasteless. I was hoping my partners chicken chow mein was better, but no. MAYBE it was because the final NFL playoff game was on? Maybe the noodles were from the week before? Or even worse... Its their usual incredibly BAD Asian food. Dont go. Dont eat there. Dont waste your time and money!

I will not order from City Wok again. Last time I placed an order it was prompt and I had no issues. This time however was the opposite. I placed a delivery order and wrote in the comments for them to call me when they arrived so I could pick it up. While I was called when the food food arrived it took almost an extra 30 minutes to arrive and I couldn’t reach the restaurant. The phones just kept ringing before disconnecting much like another reviewer here said.

I have eaten at this restaurant for years, and the food has always been good. Today was not a good day at City Wok. I ordered spinach salad and the spinach was chewy, the chicken in the salad was chewy - I just threw the entire salad out. Further, the cashew chicken dish was also a problem. Sauce was too thick, everything was stuck together like it was thawed or something, and the rice was soggy. Get it together.

I tried, I really did. I came here with my family to have dinner. This was one of our old spots we decided to give a try again. Walking in we noticed the place was emptier than usual, but we thought it was just because of the date and time. When we ordered drinks, they came out mixed up, to the wrong person, and in some cases even the wrong drink. We ordered a wide variety of food, starting with the wokomole. Please dont order this. It tastes like bland baby food with a hint of ginger. The chips that come with it are pretty good though. The hot and sour soup was fine, but all the meats were either too dry or overloaded with sauce. We left with full stomachs, but werent too satisfied. Maybe sometime in the near future I will return here and enjoy my meal, but untill then, I am going to take a little break from Wok City.

Surprisingly good Chinese food. Was there late one night expecting it to be like Panda Express, but it turned out to be more like home style Chinese food. They do have pretty good street tacos too, which was a surprise. Staff there are super friendly and hard working. Ill be back.

My coworkers like this place so Ive eaten here several times. The staff is courteous and the food is hot and cooked quickly. I just cant seem to truly enjoy the flavors. Maybe its just my tastebuds, but if you lean more towards traditional Chinese flavors the pool is shallow here.

Ordered via Doordash and was very impressed! We were on vacation and were craving lots of good food but were too tired to leave our hotel after a long day of sightseeing. The food arrived hot and the portions were the most Ive ever seen for Chinese takeout but most importantly, it was all delicious! At the end of dinner everyone was full, happy, and thankful for the little fridge in our room to keep leftovers. I was a little skeptical since the prices were higher than Im used to but now I wish we had this place in AZ!

Our server was great!! Food was great, not the best, but still really good. My husband had the beef city wok, and I had the garlic chicken. Mine was so so. But his was super good!!!!! It did however give him some crazy lava time in the bathroom that night. He said it was worth it.

Love this little plaza. Been going there for 10 years. The Ralphs is a wonderful grocery store with street and lower level entrance, via elevator. The card shop has a wonderful plethora of cards and gift items. Theres a StarBucks, pharmacy and icecream store too.We always get a good meal at City Wok! I love the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and the Crispy Wings. The drinks are in large, old fashion plastic cups. You get plenty for your money!If the parking lot is crowded, go down to the lower level parking at the entrance off Vineland. Then take the closest elevator on your right to come baxk up to street level.There is a second level by way of an escalator. This plaza is just west of Universal Studios, down Ventura Blvd, just before Vineland.

Let me start This review by saying the food here is really good. That being said there are serious problems with customer service here. I came here to eat yesterday and encountered yet another problem. And they always seem to stem around one employee in particular.I did not get his name but he is a white male with a little bit of a scruffy beard and wears glasses.Every time I come here and order and he is the one taking the order I know theres going to be a problem. And guess what, I was right.I put my order in for an order of chow main and a 1/2 order of city wok chicken. I was told my order would take about 10 minutes. About 8 minutes later I saw them put food up on the counter near the bagging area. I thought it might have been mine but I decided to wait a little longer until I was called. Another 10 minutes go by and that is when I approach that employee to ask the status of my meal. He then went to that food that was dropped 10 minutes ago and started bagging it and then he asked me what exactly I ordered. It turns out he didnt even put the order in for the city wok chicken and I was told it would take another 10 minutes to make that part of the order. So my chow mein sat there for an extended period of time waiting for the chicken.So it ended up taking me twenty eight minutes to get my order. This type of thing is a frequent occurrence when having to do with this particular employee. Even when I walked into this place this day I saw him working behind the counter and I said to myself, s I wonder what the problem is going to be to day. This guy is inattentive to guests and obviously cannot multitask.Management take note: This is how you lose customers. You just lost this one.

We usually love this place, but the experience we had today was very bad. The waitress Faith was extremely rude. She never came back to check on us. I had to flag her down to get her attention to ask her to refresh our drinks. Instead of her actually refilling she had the poor overworked buss boy do it. I had also asked her for some napkins and I noticed she forgot. When I politely brought this to her attention, she was extremely rude and rolled her eyes. she also stated in a rude tone that I can ask the buss boy next time. As if It was below her. This place is amazing. One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area, for a really good value. When you first walk in the staff is really friendly and greets you with a big, Welcome to City Work, can i take a order please? You definitely need to try the City Kung Pao Chicken. The City Beef is super good, along with the City Sweet and Sour Pork. Stay away from anything Mongolian here though. Also please dont ask for any sushi here, it doesnt go over well. Definitely dont confuse it for City Sushi nearby, that place sucks. The owner used to have a small airline called City Airlines, hes really friendly, ask him about it he loves to talk about it.

Ate there Sunday night outside. Noticed the Server was wearing a mask, facesheild and gloves. In these 45 minutes, the Server took orders, made the drink odered, filled a bowl of rice, served items to tables, picked up money from money tray, gave back changed, sprayed money tray, tables and some chairs with the same rag. Server NEVER changed his gloves during my 45 minutes visit. Please observe this next time your there. Is this practice safe for the Server and his customers?

Not impressed. Food is similar to fair airport dining. 2nd time here because of proximity to hotel. Poor service the first time. 2nd visit returned to the hotel with take out and no way to eat it because they didnt include any utensils. It was time for my 3 to 4 mo service chk-up at Universal Nissan...while waiting for my SUV my service guy Sean recommended this place to me bcus I wanted some good Chinese food. And that it was. We had the chicken skewers appetizer and the meat was so tender and juicy along with the portion size, just enough for 2. Ordered the kung pao special shrimp, chicken and beef but being that we dont eat red meat we were generously served with more chicken and shrimp..also had vegetable spring rolls. I definitely would come back here when Im in the area. The food and the service was extremely exceptional. If I could give it a 10 I would.

I drive all the way from Simi Valley to Studio City for City Wok. This place is hella good, best Chinese food... I mean way, way, way better than PF Changs and less expensive too.The food is always piping hot and delicious. The ingredients look fresh and appetizing. I always order the City Wok Chicken, it’s a must have! specially if you love Orange 🍊 chicken 🐓. I also recommend the “🍤 Shrimp in lobster sauce” I had that tonight and hit the spot. I also like the Shrimp Chow mein it’s on point...The spot is always pretty busy but there is plenty of parking underground... stop by and get Got on the dishes suggested!Bong appetite

Blah. I had the szechuan veggie dumplings and the sauce was just cheap and thin...not szechuan in my mind more just soy sauce...and the veggie part was slightly less than unremarkable. Poor. Then I ordered Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. Meh. It totally tasted and looked like a frozen dinner from the supermarket. I personally dont enjoy spending restaurant prices to eat mediocre frozen dinners. My friends say there are good things on the menu but I got spanked twice by weak dumplings and the rubbery shimp in runny mucus lobster sauce.

This place is good if you know what to order. Ive tried many things on the menu and to me, the only good things on the menu are the City Wok Chicken, Sesame Chicken and the potstickers, everything else is hit or miss. Below are some of the things that Ive tried.The pad thai is okSpring rolls are basic, nothing speicalCrispy chicken wontons are okThe white rice that they give you can be suspect at times. It mysteriously turns hard if you leave it out for more than a few minutes which I find odd.The chicken fried rice is alright, it tasted pretty bland to meThe good thing about this place is that if you place an order online and pick it up, it is always ready in about 15 mintues.

Been meaning to write a review of this dump for a while....The food here sux.No meat in any of their dishes with vegetables yet stupid people seem to frequent this place. This is likely due to feed their hungry purse chihuahua. Gets 3 stars for feeding small rats in purses but one star for feeding anything else. Go to Green Apple further down ventura and get actual real white meat and large shrimp for the same price.

Best bang for your buck in california so far. San Francisco every place had a side of burning a hole through my wallet. Crab rangoons were very good and kung pao combo was good with steamed rice. speaking of steam the food needed to cool down for 5 min. staight of the line and into my belly! service trying to do alot with short staff, busy even at 730 pm. food came out quickly and water refilled with out asking. Get alot for the price. Great place for locals and traveling universal studios people like myself.
