After traveling to the region for our honeymoon, we can honestly say that Clean Slate was the highlight of our week long trip.Beautifully presented in a quiet corner of Solvang - with plenty of outdoor and in door seating. Our server Joey was absolutely incredible. Friendly, Kind, Genuinely interested in us as customers and SUPER knowledgeable about the wine and food avaliable.The wine tasting was fantastic- with a great range of Red, White, Sparkling and Rose wines from the local region. Joeys recommendation (Bocce Ball Volo Shot) was our absolute favorite.We didnt plan on eating there, however after spending HOURS enjoying the company of Joey and the other staff and the incredible wines - we did - and boy we werent disappointed. GORGEOUS food and vegetarian options of dishes if required.We were even given a few complimentary drinks for our honeymoon celebrations - as well as Joey giving us his recommendations for things to do in the local areaI wish I could give clean slate, Joey, and everyone there more than 5 stars. An absolute highlight and delight.

Re write. The tapas dish we ordered was amazing. However the three small crostini’s don’t really provide the ability to finish the dish. So naturally we asked for more and we were immediately offered crackers vs just offering more. Mentioning anything about it being extra just felt like being nickeled and dimed. Just was off as if frustrated with us and based on your response to my original review maybe it was us at the large table and you turning people away since we were sat. The original server is where the coldness came from. If you Jason who brought the extra crostinis was extremely personable.There’s lot of great reviews on here and in all fairness we didn’t get to truly experiencing all that your restaurant has to offer. Someday…Really was waiting 20 minutes for 3 toasted slices of bread pictured with this review or even crackers offered originally is what was frustrating only because the dish was delicious and we just had to wait to finish it.We weren’t having a bad day. Maybe in retrospect after your largest table was offered to us (we didn’t ask to be sat there) and we only wanted drinks before dinner there was some frustration, all of which we mentioned prior to being sat.Sorry you had to turn larger parties away but that wasn’t on us. Turn the 3 people with dogs away next time on your busiest weekend or don’t sit us at your largest table.I was harsh in my original review for something so trivially small and after thinking I even contemplating deleting the review. However the tapas was amazing again and wine we had. I changed everything for a better reflection and appreciate your response not many places respond.

We happened upon Clean Slate on a recent visit to Solvang. It was getting toward the end of the afternoon and we noticed the wine bar on the map we’d gotten at the visitor center. We were looking for a glass of wine and maybe a snack. We found it at Clean Slate! We enjoyed our visit very much and would recommend you stop in.First of all, they have a whole bunch of wines available by the glass. More importantly though, if you don’t know exactly what you want, these folks are happy to pour you a sample to see if it’s to your liking. And at least in our case, they even opened a bottle or two just so we could get a taste. Eventually we settled on a couple glasses.Our server was Joey and he was very knowledgeable about the wines! Not only that, he was just plain enthusiastic and genuinely interested in making sure we found something to our liking. We’d go back just for the great service.We were there on a Thursday which is “Indian Inspired Menu” night. For our snack we had some freshly made hummus. Very good.

This place was a GREAT experience. The staff is super friendly and make you feel at home! Great vibe! Good selection of wines and the spot is cool for people watching and just chilling in a corner of Solvang that doesn’t feel packed with tourists.

I recently visited Clean Slate Wine Bar, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The wine selection was fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed sampling their offerings. The highlight of my visit, however, was the host, May Apple. Her warm and welcoming vibes added a special touch to the evening, making me feel right at home. I cant wait to return for another great time at Clean Slate Wine Bar!

Had such a nice experience at Clean Slate. First time and definitely coming back. Our server was Emily. Super kind and knows her stuff when it comes to wine & food. Shes a winemaker and her wine is on the list! So cool! Ordered her Syrah/Grenache and it was so delicious. Oh and the food is not to be missed! A hidden Gem in Solvang.

Amazing wine selection by the glass (more than 20 wines from the region and slightly broader CA)… the staff will walk you through it all, share their suggestions based on your palate, make you sample the different open wines. They are very kind and friendly too… unfortunately we will have missed having dinner at the place but food looks yummy too.

Some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered. Everyone here was absolutely lovely and the food was amazing. My boyfriend is gluten free and I’m lactose intolerant and they were beyond gracious and sweet helping us adjust their shrimp dish for us to enjoy. 10/10 recommend the local shrimp poboy and rice beer.

My husband and I had a spectacular time here! We were on our honeymoon and Joey made us feel so special!!! He really made our visit here so unique. The wine was delicious, the staff were super knowledgeable and friendly. Their small plates are TO DIE FOR. Absolutely incredible, Id give more than 5 stars if I could!!! We felt really welcome here, on our first day in Solvang. We only had one drink before exploring the town and had the charcuterie to accompany our drinks as we were just a bit early for the evening meal. Very friendly folk, although a tad expensive for what we consumed.

Cool place but it will cost you. Had a cheese and meat tray. It was ok. So a mediocre cheese and meat tray with 2 cheaper glasses of wine. 63 bucks. A bit over priced. Dont go before 4:30. The cheese tray is all they offer. Cheers.

After being in quarantine for over 5 months, I drove all the way up to Solvang from Chino Hills to escape for a while with my boyfriend. I was hesitant in wanting to partake in any patio experience due to having to take my mask off, however, the way in which this beautiful wine bar has set up their patio makes their guest feel very comfortable. We were greeted by Jason and he presented us with a menu along with a list of their wines. He took the time to get an idea of what our likings were and explained that he would try his best to meet our wants. We ordered a flight of wine and with each new wine Jason brought out he would take a moment to provide us with a little history about the bottle, the grapes, and the person who created the wine. When I got to our 4th wine, this wine was not my favorite taste. Jason without hesitation provided me with another option without it counting as one of my flights. If I could provide this amazing Wine Bar with more than just 5 stars I would. Jasons professionalism and attention to detail was superb. Especially during COVID restrictions and regulations, he ensured that his customers felt safe and protected. Our seats were separated within the 6 ft requirement and every table had its own hand sanitizer. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and I cant wait until I am able to travel to Solvang again to enjoy another glass of wine.

Excellent service by literally all of the staffs!The service was the cherry on top of this beautiful, lovely-decorated wine bar with 50 wines by the glasses!Our host was very welcoming from the beginning and did extra step for us to move our table in the middle of the meal and all of their staffs were extra friendly!Foods were superb as well - Must try their flatbread and Mushroom salad!I can literally give unlimited stars for their service, food, and ambiance!Would definitely re-visit in the future!!!

Stopped in to try some wines. Had one tasting & a mulled wine (which was perfect on a rainy day). I wish we were hungry as it smelled wonderful in the restaurant & the plates going to others looked fantastic. Also a shout out to the personal & outstanding staff. We went to Solvang in November and were searching for a wine tasting experience and found this place. On an initial look, it looked like a cozy, small joint with not a lot to offer. But, thank god we found this place. Easily one of the best wine tasting experiences Ive ever had, (including Northern California, Italy and France) and the tapas/small plates were excellent. We had the time of our lives and Id love to come back here very soon.

Honestly cant remember the last time Ive written an online review, but I also cant remember EVER having the quality of service I received yesterday. If more stars were possible that would definitely be the case, but 5 will have to do.My wife and I arrived in town yesterday and while walking around decided that Clean Slate would be a good place to stop for a drink and snack. That decision would turn out to be a great one.Our server, Nina, was one of the friendliest servers weve ever interacted with. She offered plenty of advice not only on the plates and drinks that were offered, but on things to do around town. Altogether the whole staff was incredibly friendly and personable.We ate the Patatas Bravas and the Poblano Flatbread, and they were absolutely delicious. Our server, Nina, was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu and was happy to offer suggestions and point us toward drinks we ended up lovingComing here is definitely worth every penny, and some. The food, drinks and atmosphere are great but the outstanding service is just the icing on the cake. The owners of this business must have phenomenal taste in food, drink, and the staff they hire. We willl definitely make it a point to stop by whenever we visit Solvang, and you should too.

Melissa and Jasons passion for great food and wine is evident and they are eager to share their excitement and knowledge with everyone. They have an extensive selection of wines by the glass from local producers and the tapas are delicious. This was our first visit to the Santa Ynez Valley, but it wont be our last! We stumbled upon Clean Slate our first evening and Jason & Melissa set the bar very high for the rest of our weekend.As if the exceptional service, food, and wine wasnt enough, Melissa is a fellow Louisianan. Wow this place is amazing! We turned up on a Saturday night with no reservations and were greeted at the door by the owner. He had a table cleaned and ready for us immediately!Once we sat the chef and co-owner Melissa welcomed us and described her process for acquiring fresh ingredients at the local farmers market and creating the menu weekly based on whats seasonal and fresh.We felt like wed just been welcomed into their home for an amazing meal, what a great start!The menu is small-plate tapas-style which is perfect for trying lots of different things. We started with 3 items but quickly added a 4th and 5th because everything was amazing. The standouts were the Spanish tortilla, meatballs and flatbread. The rich, smoky marinara was to die for!We had to try the brownie for dessert, it did not disappoint!Wed been drinking wine all day so stuck with a local beer for dinner but their wine menu looked great too!If youre looking for an intimate dinner with great service and incredible food to match this is the spot!!

My girlfriend and I took a little getaway trip to Solvang not too long ago. We were trying to find a good looking wine bar to relax at. When we saw Clean Slate, we were immediately taken back by how quaint and inviting it looked so we decided to stop by. Naturally, we were both hesitant to dine there due to the pandemic, however, the set up was perfect. Seating was al over 6ft apart and each table had its own hand sanitizer. Outside patio dining was limited to only a few guests at a time and indoor dining was closed so the place wasnt crowded at all. Due to the fact that the wine bar was only taking a few customers at a time, I was nervous that we would feel rushed and we wouldnt get quality service as a result of the restaurant trying to get as many customers in and out as possible. That wasnt the case at all. The owner, Jason, sat us and took care of us throughout our entire experience there. He took the time to get to know us, ask our personal wine preferences, and so on. As amateur wine drinkers, this was huge for us! The menu would have been pretty intimidating had it not been for Jason. We were able to order a flight with confidence. Each wine that was brought out to us was accompanied by a history of the grapes, vineyard, and winemaker behind the bottle which was fun to hear about and allowed us to enjoy the wine a bit more. By the way, each of Jasons selections was right on the money! I loved each and every wine he brought out. Beyond the amazing service at Clean Slate, the ambiance is terrific, and the price is totally reasonable. Would definitely recommend to a friend! I cant wait to make my way back here :)

I had personally wanted to visit The Clean Slate for two reasons. One, the wine. The Santa Ynez Valley shines with originators in viticulture, and places like this illuminate the best and brightest. Secondly, the owner Jason had come to my rescue several times when I was seeking bottles from brands that couldn’t normally be accessed outside of a wine club. He did me the favor of recommending and sourcing unique varietals and exclusive blends in response to my wants and needs. Even better, he evoked a sense of devotion and dedication for local winemakers that made me want to explore all the contours of the surrounding map of AVAs, from Los Alamos to Happy Canyon. The whole experience left me wanting more. When my parents came to vacation in Solvang, we put The Clean Slate at the top of our list of weekend destinations. You might say that we had high expectations…and those expectations were blown straight into the heavens! Jason set us up with a top spot where we could see the hustling and bustling of both the bar and the kitchen. Though it was a busy Saturday night, everyone in sight was attentive and amicable—to us, and to each other. The servers were knowledgeable, the beers and wines were innumerable, and the Loubud brut rose that we ordered was impeccable. For a bit of spark to light up the quiet nights in Solvang, I highly recommend a visit with the cast of characters at The Clean Slate.

We stopped by at Solvang to do a little sight seeing during the COVID and stumbled onto this charming little corner. It was just the right bite we wanted as it had comfy shade and wine for my gf. We chatted with the owner and shared with us how they just opened up a month ago and simple wanted to give this amazing business out support during these times. Refreshing and tasting! Rarely do you find a place where as much as you might try, you can not find a wine you dont love. Couple that with some of the nicest most genuine service, even on a busy Saturday night and you have a must go location. This spot will be on our must visit list whenever we are back in Solvang.
