Just went here for the first time! Jose was super friendly, welcoming, and attentive, giving the place a feel of a new establishment committed to creating a good experience.I got the veggie breakfast burrito, in which they eggs and hash browns had the perfect texture and there was a nice mix of flavors.I hope they do well!

Jose and his mom have a wonderful restaurant! Their cooking is nothing short of authentic! We had the chicken tinga enchiladas verdes (green) plate along with birria tacos and churros. My favorite was the tender juicy birria and the delicious rice and beans. I would eat everything we ordered again. They have generous portions and are very reasonably priced! Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit. Your tongue will thank you. Ps. Aside from the great food, Jose is an attentive and communicative host.

Absolutely delicious food, great for vegetarians! We really enjoyed the super quesadilla and sopes with chile rellenos, and we appreciated our host’s hospitality in talking to us and giving us samples of their refreshing drinks and amazing fresh salsas. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!

Mama Cholitas Kitchen is my favorite Mexican restaurant in all of SF, bar none. And thats saying a lot, considering the number of Mexican restaurants in this city.The food is delicious and sophisticated. You can clearly see the love that went into each dish and recipe. My favorites are the super nachos and chicken wrap (very light yet filling).The owners are incredibly friendly and welcome feedback. Theres a secret too. Its not on the menu, but they will make tamales to go. Its a once a week thing and youll have to order about a dozen at a time. Great for a dinner party in the backyard.If you havent tried Mama Cholitas Kitchen, I recommend you check them out!

A family member brought me here. The food was absolutely delicious and authentic, not bland nor overly seasoned it was literally perfect (it honestly reminds me of grandmas cooking, and we all know thats hard to beat!!!). I had the quesabirrias, as you can see my mom tried to take my last one. It was that good! She had the green enchiladas, which were also yummy 😋 I had a Jamaica water (hibiscus) and I loved that it wasnt overly sweet, just refreshing. We also had churros for dessert!! They were so hot Right out of the fryer!The service was prompt and attentive; we had a party of 7 people and we had spent a total of 40min from the moment we sat down to the moment we paid the check. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves authentic Mexican food. BTW they deliver through Doordarsh!!!!!! Im getting lunch from here delivered!!!Ps. Sorry for the half eaten food pics, I had the urge to write a review halfway through my meal.

The food was delicious. Their mole is the best Ive had in the states. They were also so hospitable, giving us a few samples and checking in on us. Its a family business and I met the grandmother, son, and nephew. Not to be missed.

Just came in for a simple chorizo and egg burrito and I was blown away. To start the mango habenero salsa that comes with chips is amazing. Then the burrito comes out weighing at least 2 pounds and loaded with chorizo, bacon, egg, and hashbrowns. On top of that they asked if it was my first time and offered me samples of 3 other dishes. Everyone in the restaurant checked on me and said good morning. This place is my new spot for sure

Just wonderful food with the best flavors. Our new go-to family Mexican place. Amazing flavors, super clean, great service. I usually hate habanero but their homemade habanero dipping sauce is sublime - every one of their sauces were homemade, authentic, complex, subtle. Portion sizes are not just right: satisfying, not too big or heavy or greasy. Jose really knows his food. I’m excited to try the whole menu. You can order tamales with a days notice - delicious! - good for parties. Family friendly. Good menu options for eating with children.

I spoke with Jose to help me cater a party of 25. We needed a blend of vegan options as well as regular meat items for tacos. Everything was great. The green vegan rice was a hit, and the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned.I will recommend this place to everyone I know, and hope that they continue to thrive in the community.

Lovely addition to the neighborhood. The family who runs it are incredibly nice and the food is delicious and comes out quick. They’re very proud to make authentic Mexican food, as well as Mexican American taqueria fare as well. Will definitely be coming back for more.

I’m so happy we came here! This was all of our first time, my dad is a very picky eater and he loved his shrimp plate so much he even told the staff that. The service was very impressive and attentive and the food was great. They gave all of us plates of samples of the food too. Very lovely restaurant I definitely recommend

I really dig this place. Theyre first time restauranteurs making some family recipes. The mole was spot on. We also got the birria burrito, which was tender and delicious.Service is great, super welcoming. The place is super clean and they had a tv playing MLB playoffs.I will definitely be back and its a welcomed addition to the neighborhood.

Jose and his team catered a fabulous lunch for our daughter’s baby shower, held at Bare Bottle brewery (fab venue) in Bernal Heights. Everyone raved about the food - we had delicious green chile enchiladas, chorizo nachos, the mole chicken (soooo good), the best refried beans in the Mission, and yummy home made tortillas for our taco fixings. They took great care of us!

Truly a gem. This is the newest and best Mexican spot in the neighborhood, and trust me, there are a lot. Super sweet and welcoming owners and DELICIOUS food. We got offered chips with three salsas (their tomatillo is so fresh! And a mango habanero that was not too spicy) and a sample of the chicken tinga, mole, and birria and each sauce was distinct and flavorful without being overpowering. We got the special of pork tamales- masa that was actually seasoned throughout and not at all dry. They also have breakfast burritos and tacos. Will be back many more times!

I love Mexican food… and this is the best I’ve ever had! Authentic, delicious, different from the typical Tex-mex. Jose was a consummate host, even providing samples to ensure we ordered what we would truly enjoy. We enjoyed his pride in his family history. It’s reflected in the food.

Ive been searching for enchiladas like my grandma used to make and up til now have been let down with the local options. I am so happy to finally find a place that hits the spot! Plus its family owned and everyone here is super kind and welcoming. Absolutely awesome Mexican/Salvadoran restaurant. I had the Quesabirria Tacos with their incredible beef filling and onion and cilantro on the side. My mouth is watering just thinking about them; SOOO GOOD! My wife had the Enchiladas, beef also, with their dark mole. Scrumptious! The empanadas were even bette a juicy and succulent combo of beef and cheese. Another highlight was the Cucumber/Lime Aqua Fresca which was very refreshing when paired with the spiciness of the food. The service was great, the food even better and we cant wait to go back. Fortunately we live very close but even if you dont it would certainly be worth your while to give Cocina Mamma Cholita a try. We will be regulars.

A friend brought me here while I was visiting. I’m from Az and know good Mexican. This was some of the best! Because we were with a group, I got to sample a lot of the item. The birria, green enchiladas, mole enchiladas…all were delicious. Their beans and rice passed the test too.

As we entered, the ambiance was immaculately clean, warm, and inviting! We were offered complimentary nachos and salsa on the house as we entered! And wow, everything was so freshly made. I loved the mango habanero sauce✨✨The restroom was gender-fluid and neutral which was thoughtful and inclusive. It was also so cute and sparkling clean!The talented chef offered us cute sampler plates which really helped with ordering. I spontaneously ordered empanadas and my boyfriend wanted the mole. Everything was just perfect. The food was made with so much quality and care that it was soothing to the stomach. We’re most definitely coming back when we’re in town!

Ive been coming to this Mexican restaurant for years, and it never disappoints. The carne asada is always tender and flavorful, and the guacamole is made fresh to order. The chips and salsa are also delicious, and the margaritas are the perfect way to kick off a night out. If you havent tried this place yet, youre missing out!

We found a new favorite Mexican restaurant! This is not your typical taqueria. Run by a mother and her son, they cook their family’s traditional recipes from a region outside of Mexico City - We ordered the Birria (a regional beef stew) based on our server’s recommendation and it was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Stopped in here because it’s new and the yelp review is great. The owner is very nice and walked me through the menu. I was feeling indecisive so he made a sampler of the birria taco, chicken sopes and a beef empanada. What a nice offer! The food was excellent. Then he brought out some rice and mole. His recipes are based upon his grandmother’s cooking. Highly recommended and go support a new restaurant!

Seriously the BEST Quesabirria tacos in SF! This place just opened and man... everything on the menu is so good. Had a party of 6 and we ordered atleast 3-4 rounds of birria tacos. The consome is sweet soulful juice in your mouth, and the meat had such a perfect flavor and tender balance to it. If you love birria DONT SLEEP on this place! Definitely a new Mission favorite.

Mole was delicious with a hint of spice, homemade. Rice fluffy and flavorful. Beans on point not from a can, homemade deliciousness. The salsas were perfect and flavorful just enough heat. The atole de Pinole was delicious warm and sweet. The horchata is a must. You could taste the delicious toasted morro seeds and the sweetness is perfect not overly sweeten. Birria tacos are delicious not salty or greasy. The consome is just right not tomatoey or salty.

Excellent restaurant, made me feel like back in Mexico. The flavors and the dishes are so tasty! The mango-habanero salsa is delicious!! The enchiladas are amazing! I couldnt stop eating! And the chorizo soups are so good! The service is remarkable even offering the delicious desserts like the custard! You need to try it!
