There is alot to like about this place. We had the Clam Chowder and Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. The clam chowder had great flavor. The bread bowl was good. We wanted two bread bowls, but for some reason, they only had one left.The service was friendly and professional.I would have preferred a real spoon, over the little plastic spoon, but not a big deal.They also have a fish market in the back, with great selection of fish and seafood. All the fish and seafood looked great and fresh.Prices were reasonable. I will post some pictures that show the prices.I recommend this once little place. We will be back.

Been going to Cooks for more than 20 years. Everything is fresh and reasonably priced. Everything that weve eaten has been really good. The last time I got the Halibut fish & chips.They also have a fishmarket if youre looking for something to cook.

FRESH! Comforting! Reasonably priced for great quality!Definitely one of my top favorite places to eat. I’ve been coming to this location here and there for 18 years!My favorites: prawns & chips, cod, calamari, oysters both fresh and fried, fettuccini Alfredo. Just to name a few.Always super good. I inhale my food within a blink of an eye every time leaving my friends in complete shock. Yeah that good! Lol

Where else can you find a cup of cioppono for under $5? Tasty tomato filled with chunks of fish and shrimp. Great fish and chips too served with tartar sauce. Also, hot sauce, lemons and malt vinegar available as well. Fast service and easy parking in the lot.

Casual atmosphere with 5 star quality food. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Clam chowder is excellent and had the best Crab sandwich Ive ever had. My husband had the Alaskan Halibut fish and chips and the chowder. Also top quality.

Walked in on a Friday night for take out. No line and ordered beers while waiting and our food was done before we got a few sips in! Staff were great and told us not to feel rushed. Ordered calamari, clams, oysters, and clam chowder. Would definitely come back and recommend.

Been going here for over 50years. Last few years the food has been completely terrible. Thought Id give it a try one more time the other day and the cod was dry, hard and tasteless. Just confirmed how bad it was, and that I will not venture to try again. The reviews reflect my terrible experience. Come on Cooks, you can do better!

Brought these Jumbo Prawns home and air fried them to perfection. Thanks to Cooks great quality seafood, we enjoyed a delicious meal. Wonderful selection of seafood at the butcher station of Cooks. Next time we will have to visit the Cooks restaurant right next door.

Another spot I have missed due to being land-locked in the box state of Colorado. As delish as I remember! I had the cod and prawn combo. Thick, juicy prawns, a nice- sized piece of cod and fresh fries- fantastic! I enjoyed the patio dining. The restaurant is clean and service is friendly.

My mother and I decided to go to Cooks Seafood for a late lunch and ordered a cup of Clam Chowder and a Grilled Halibut lunch platter to enjoy outside. Although the waitress was friendly and the Clam Chowder was good, the Grilled Halibut was overcooked and dry. This came as a surprise to us, as the restaurant has received excellent reviews, including positive feedback from our friends.

This place is sooo good. Im so happy that I found such a nice fish & chips place that gives you a good portion with such a decent price. We got the salmon burger and the fried cod with the coleslaw. The fish was fresh and juicy and was cooked perfectly. However their fries were just meh. Service was good and food came out pretty quickly. I would definitely come here again!

I have loved this place for over 20 years. The quality of food has dropped, the portion are smaller, and prices are higher. This was my first time getting cat fish...it was poor. I normally get halibut n shrimp. I be back one more time for my regular. If its the same I am done with cooks.

So their fried cod is the best thing there for sure! Its really good. All their soups are kind of bland they leave a little bit to be desired. Fries are large steak cut fries made from real potatoes. Ambiance has definitely leaves a lot to be desired, but its a very good place for your just your traditional fish and chips the prawns were good except for the breading was a little thick on those. I highly recommend the cod. Definitely skip the coleslaw it just tastes like cabbage, no flavor.

It was a drizzly day so a hot cup of clam chowder was a great start... the fish and chips were delicious! I got the halibut, it was perfect! The fries chips have a great seasoning and the Coleslaw isnt overwhelmed by vinegar... definitely try if you havent yet

This place has always been my favorite fish n chips place in this area. Their Alaskan halibut fish n chips are my personal choice. The location is both a very casual restaurant on one end and an excellent seafood market on the other. They also have very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant prices are higher than fastfood places, but the quality of their seafood is well worth it. I have always had a positive experience here, and Im sure you will too!

Great restaurant for fresh seafood. We love their halibut fish and chips with coleslaw. Their tartar sauce is great with it as well. We’ve purchased crab from them and it was delicious. The people working at the counter are always helpful and kind. It definitely smells like seafood inside but they have some tables outside if it bothers you.

Our experience at this restaurant was inconsistent with the reviews we read before going there. This is a go up to the counter and order place. Then find a table and the food will be brought to you. We ordered the wild salmon and fries. The salmon turned out to be deep fried. It was ok but not what we were expecting. The fries were very forgettable.

Had Petrale Sole. You can have fried or grilled which I chose, Clam Chowder and Steak Fries. The Petrale was fresh and flavorful. The tartar sauce was best I ever had and the Clam Chowder is a 5 out of 5. The outside patio is very pleasant and sheltered. They also have a fresh seafood market next to restaurant. Give it a try, you will be happy you did!

Had a weird craving for a fish sandwich and was going to get a fish fillet at McDonalds but a combo meal was $10! so searched and found Cooks.They had a combo for $9.99 with amazing batter fried cod and a pile of steak fries. The cod on the sandwich stayed crispy despite having sauce and toppings on it and the meat underneath was tender. I cant wait to try the dungeoness crab sandwich.

Great fish and chips. Sort of pricey... But then again thats the area and you do get a healthy amount of food. Both the halibut and cod are great. Not sure if the halibut is that much better than the cod to make me want to pay that much more. Also the fresh fish for purchase is delicious. Bought some fresh salmon to make sushi and it came out fantastic. This place is definitely one to check out!

Weve been going to Cooks for 3 decades and love the fish and chips. Very fresh cod or halibut thats always done well and prepared to order. The batter is crispy and not too dense. The chips are thick sliced and are good. I prefer mine a little crispier. These are kind of soft, almost as if done in an oven but theyre not. For me, about 30 seconds longer in the fryer would probably do it. Tartar sauce is made in house and good. The portions are filling and a two piece fish with chips is just right. The staff are friendly and efficient and many customers appear to be regulars. Not surprised.

I went to the fish market last week and asked for smoked haddock. they went to the fridge and quickly pulled a piece of fish, packed it. when it took it i realized it was frozen and i asked if they had fresh one. the answer was negative. given it was packed and paid for i took it. I defrosted it at ambiant temperature .... uneatable. it had been frozen for so long that it was basically a sponge. full of water. the fish meet was totally burnt by the long freezing.The more I think of it, i realize they knew it had been there for a long time. In any case a professional would never sell this as they would know exactly what happens when fish has been frozen for too long. treating customers like this is unacceptable.

The market is awesome. Freshest seafood with sushi grade options. We often get salmon, tuna and salmon skin (to fry) and make our own hand rolls at home. I never go anywhere else for my seafood. Service is also friendly and helpful.

I would like give this place 5 stars but I cant. Most of the food is very good and your going to pay for it because its quite expensive. My problem is the fries. They are rarely cooked long enough in the deep fry. They are never crisp. They give you a lot of fries but they are as limp and soggy. They are these big steak cut fries that need to be cooked longer. Its a no brainer and they continuously get it wrong and it pretty much ruins the meal. Besides they should get away from the big fries and find a much smaller option. But the fish is usually very good. Fat pieces of halibut is sure is delicious.

Apparently this place used to be pretty good. The food and service we experienced was passable, but not exceptional. There was no indoor seating, just a few tables on the patio. The fish for the fish&chips were from those triangular frozen filets you get at the supermarket. The chips ware hot but not really crispy. Only slightly better than a fast food drive through.

Update...Was there about a mth ago and Dine In is now available. Food is good and portions for price are reasonable. Will continue to eat here. Help was nice and accommodating.....OLD Rating: If I could give it zero I would ...there are basically 4 seats outside....but they advertise Dine In .. I cant give a rating on the food as I was so discussed that the thought of eating fish & chips in my car was not a vision I enjoyed. Ordered a combination plate to drive all the way home to find out there was no fish. Called the restaurant back to see how we could get the correct order. First off got disconnect twice. Called back and the owner named Tony told me oh this is the busy time of the year and he would deal with this on Monday. Seriously???? This is New Year eve and you act like we are lying about missing fish. Owner Tony had the nerve to say he had to watch video cameras once again as if we stole fish from them. So here we are as one big happy family with no food, no refund, no compensation, no resolution, and etc. What should of been offered was a refund or come back in for your 5 pieces of fish. But when you so money hungry and dont know anything about customer service this is how things are dealt with. They have indeed lost a customer. You can have those 5 pieces of fish after you watch your security cameras and have a great 2022. Thanks Cooks!

Their fish and chips is the best Ive had in the U.S., and its not overly salty. I, too, drive far to pick up food from Cooks - take a utensil and vent each box to keep it crisp on the way home (in reference to other reviews). I used to dine at Cooks more than two decades ago. Its changed a lot since then. The staff are courteous and parking is easy. This restaurant is also very clean. It has a dining area and also a seafood take-out counter for people wishing to cook at home. The seafood in the counter appears to be fresh and of good quality. I think its a good place to buy your take-home seafood.The restaurant is less than impressive. My partner ordered fried prawns and fries, and I had scallops and chips (fries). We were unimpressed with the food as it was greasy and reminded me of a place like Long John Silvers. It wasnt at all quality like their food of years ago. I also had a salad which appeared to be pre-made, but it was really cold and didnt look or taste fresh.I dont like to write anything negative about any business, especially one that isnt part of a chain or larger corporation, but to do otherwise would be dishonest to potential customers. I hope the management takes a look at their food quality and make a few minor adjustments to improve taste, appearance and overall customer satisfaction. The Cooks of old was really good. It can be that again.

Fast takeout service. Friendly cashier. I came up from San Jose upon several raving recommendations. Perhaps I set my expectations too high. A few parties waiting there before it opened at 11:00 am. Got my fish and chips. Smelled so good in the car on the 1/2 hour drive home. Thats when I got disappointed. Not crispy. I will definitely go back and eat right there in the huge parking lot! We are regular customers who order carry out about once a week.I had to knock off a star because the last time we ordered, the batter was dark and overly crispy and I thought okay, but the fish will be tender and flaky. Wrong. The fish was chewy, rubbery, and had a slightly unpleasant fishy taste. It may have been leftover from lunch and refried. Yuk. This has happened before, but rarely. Will try one more time. I hope this didnt happen to the customer in front of me who traveled 130 miles to experience their food.

This is a really great sea food spot, we got the prawns with cod and steak fries. The prawns were absolutely delicious! The cod to be honest was not bad but it just didnt have much flavor to it. The fries were really good too. Im not sure if they make their own tartar sauce but it was also really good and seemed fresh made. We have went back several times for more prawns and fries.

Nonetheless, ordering was a breeze and we got our food within 5-10 minutes.Clam chowder - nice and creamy with big chunks of clams.Halibut fish and chips - the fish was cooked very well with just enough breading. Personally Im not a fan of thick cut fries so I only ate a few pieces. My companions, however, finished their entire plate.Id highly recommend Cooks Seafood. If you love your fried potatoes and seafood, this is the place to go. Overall, this is a good casual food place. Nothing fancy, just plain old good fish and chips. Yes, GOOD FRIED AWESOME FOOD!The place is full but not crazy packed on a Friday evening. Serving was quick and the cashier who took our order was nice and accommodating. You have to fall in line to place your order, get your number, and find your seat. Pretty much a find your own seat or have company save one for you while someone places their order.We got the halibut and chips (fries) and the oyster and chips. There is nothing much to say about battered and fried seafood except that they are super satisfying. Dip them in ketchup or their tartar sauce and your all set.They have a considerable selection of beverages. You can chug your food with beer, old fashioned root beer, IPAs, fruit juices or soda.Although a minor thing for me, just note that this shares the same space with a fresh seafood/wine/sauces shop. So expect a very faint fish smell to waft once in a while. It did not bother me much though but I just thought this observation is worth mentioning. On the brighter side, you could do some seafood shopping after dinner.We will definitely come back.

Eating here was a bit of a mixed bag. Pros: The fried fish was absolutely amazing! Fresh, flaky halibut with crispy batter. The bowl of clam chowder was decent too. However, everything else we tried fell flat despite the good reviews online. The fries were thick cut but very greasy. The scallops were old, over-fried, and slathered in grease. I wish they used the same batter as the fish for the scallops, this would have helped immensely.The decor and atmosphere remind me of an upscale dairy queen where they bring food to your table after you order at the counter. The decor is a bit cheesy and gaudy, but I do give them points for trying. Valentines day was approaching and they had added some fun decorations to their usual nautical theme. The restaurant does have a huge parking lot and the service was pretty quick. I dont think Ill be coming back any time soon but if I do return I will only order fried fish (with no chips or sides).

Ive been going here with family since I was little. Our Uncle Ralph worked here a long time before he passed away (early 1990s) and was my dads favorite place before he passed away (2017.) Not only are the memories and place dear but the food is always delicious and hot. The catfish and chips has always been our family favorite. We love the old photographs of fishermen on the walls and nautical decor. Thank you Cooks Seafood, we will continue to go there and enjoy.

If youre in the area and want to eat at a place that feels like it should be on a pier hanging over the ocean, go to Cooks.From the outside, Cooks Seafood resembles a hole in the wall diner but looks are definitely deceiving. This place has the best fish and chips around. And the clam chowder is the real deal.The chowder has fresh clams, nice amount of potatoes, and is super rich and creamy. Weve tried Cooks Seafood several times because we dont want to make a judgement based on only one visit. Were giving this restaurant a two star rating only because the employees are so very pleasant. As to the food, two stars is far too generous. The coleslaw and other sides would rate three stars, however, the fish and chips couldnt possibly rise to a two star rating. The fish is cooked at far too high of a temperature resulting in a burnt taste on the outside breading, and the fish is oily and luke warm. The chips (fries) are simply a greasie mess, and should be banned by the local health department.Last nights meals were on par with our two prior visits, in fact, most of both our meals went in the garbage can. In their efforts to get the food out theyve sacrificed the taste and quality of the food.Weve eaten in restaurants in all parts of our great nation, and many other countries, and have eaten fish & chips many.times, and our rating is honest and fair.We wouldnt recommend this restaurant.

Messed up my ordered, refused to refund my hard earned money and didnt even get a single apology out of the three people I spoke to...Its not like they had people out the door or enough going in the restaurant to mess up a simple shrimp sandwich that I had been craving forever. For a fast food place, the service is tops. It follows a casual dining concept in which order first, place the given number plaque at your table, the server brings the food to your table. Usually, these formats dont traditionally provide good service. At cooks seafood, you get good service. At the ordering counter, the server recommends plates that are popular or to your liking. When food is brought out to the table, the server asks if you would like more tartar sauce. Towards the end of the meal, the server asks to clear away any rubbish. Normally, I clear my own table.The fishnchips is the popular choice. 3oz of thick cut fish of either halibut or cod. I had halibut. The fish is fried but its not oily; batter is crispy but lacking flavor. To brighten the flavor there is a lemon wedge, vinegar and a tub of tartare sauce offered.Theres no soda machine. Youll need to buy a can or bottle of your favorite fizzy drink.

I enjoyed this place if youre feeling a seafood meal this is a great place to go I had the salmon fillet sandwich with fries it was excellent the atmosphere was very pleasant and serene with outdoor seating would be an ideal place for a quick bite or a date the service was great and fast because we were very hungry

The fish was definitely fresh. I am use to hand battered fish strips not rectangles that look store bought. $12.00 for fries and 2 (4×2) of fish.

Its so nice when you pay for your order and wait for almost 25m and see that everyone got served there food and then when you check what happened to your order they say oh sorry we lost your receipt probably and will mak a new order for you...... Like really what type of excuse is that and the manager can only say Im sorry do you want refund or still want your meal this place is a joke first time to go there and definitely the last time

This was my first time trying Cooks so i ordered the two piece Halibut with chips and wow the pieces was about three inch thick like biting into a chicken breasts and you can tell it was fresh i will be back using my Terminator voice

Some people dont like this type of dryer fried halibut, I do, theyre prawns are also very good, its a classic American type batter, I know many of us are used to a more Asian type here in the bay area, but you will not find that here.

Ive never been to the restaurant side, but the fish market is amazing. Knowledge staff sell live shellfish, sushi grade fish, and basic seafood cooking ingredients. Its not cheap, but you absolutely get what you pay for.

Excellent food with great service. Very busy, but the staff is very fast. What a seafood market and restaurant should be. Can be expensive, but if you love halibut and crab, you should already know that.
