I loveeeee Coya! The lomo soltado is absolutely deliciousss, such a unique flavor. Never had Peruvian food before but this place definitely has me hooked . I always crave it, fresh & tasty every time! The service is always very friendly & prompt!
I came by while visiting San Luis Obispo for the weekend and I ate at Minustra the night before. Although Minustra was good, I think Coya food is much better. Lomo Saltado was really flavorful, steak was tender and rice cooked perfectly! I didnt take pictures cause ate them up before I remembered, too busy stuffing my fat face.I also got the ceviche and a pork tamale and I devoured them too! Coya will be the first place I go to next time Im in town. Good job Chef!
I have been to this store 2 - 3 years ago when I believe there was a Mexican food stall inside. I heard good things about Coya so I decided to try it out since I was in town again. The food was very good. I ordered the Pollo A La Brasa special and it had so much flavor. Catalina (who runs it) was very accommodating and friendly, and even let me have a small desert on the house. Also excellent. I will definitely come back here again.
I’ve had Peruvian food twice. 1 was Mistura which was an amazing experience and the other is now this place. I paid 28bucks for a pasta dish that was mediocre at best and 2 empanadas that seemed as though they were incomplete menu items. The service was good. The food was mid. I probably won’t visit visit the restaurant again but I do appreciate the balance of healthy fresh veggies used in the meal.

Delicious Peruvian food! We got the Lomo Saltado and chicken chaufa. We had planned to go but one of the tables opened up so we ate in the market. The table next to us was eating the ceviche and it looked so good I wished I ordered it too. But our two dishes were plenty for the two of us.
Fantastic and traditional Peruvian food. All fresh ingredients cooked right in front of you. The lady who works there is absolutely lovely and let me practice my Spanish with her. Go down to this place and get yourself some great food! Try the Inca Kola soda as well! It’s amazing
I can’t recommend this place highly enough. The first authentic Peruvian food I’ve had outside of Peru and at very reasonable prices. I was so excited to find all of the most popular dishes that I missed so much! The owner is incredibly kind as well. Very pleased to find authentic Peruvian food in SLO. Don’t pass this place by.
Its a small indoor shop of a liquor store which has a small kitchen right in middle of it. Everything comes as order freshly cut and cooked right at the spit. I bought 2 chaufa beef and a Mister Lomo. Let me tell you. Shes an awesome cook and tasted great all around. Now, was it worth the price. Heck yah it is. Every bite was memorable and savoring. As for drinks I had a Inko Cola and Passion Fruit. Inko Cola tasted like a lightly version of a coke and Passion Fruit had its own familiar taste. Tasted freshly made compared to your store bought Welch or from a Hawaiian grocery store.
The food here was fabulous and the hostess was kind and helpful. I got the ceviche, which had the most wonderful balance of flavors. It was extremely fresh. Despite everything being super fresh, I didnt have to wait long at all before my food came out.
The food was great. I was craving something that tastes homemade and found this place. I am a Peruvian food lover and I can tell this place is good. Catalina tries her best to keep the customers happy with her service and food. I would highly recommend this place!

Simply fantastic. A wonderful place, the food was authentic and the owner was very kind and welcoming. I had a mixed chaufa rice with chicha morada. It was almost like being back in Lima or. Santiago, but instead I was in San Luis Obispo, right at Mitchell Park.This place is truly a jewel, better than a lot of places in larger cities. This isnt really a restaurant unless you call a place with 2 tables and 8 chairs within the heart of a convenience store, a restaurant. But, why let that bother you when the food is good?The lady who runs the kitchen almost single-handedly is very passionate about her cooking. She will sure chat you up into trying out her special recommendations. But let me assure you that her stuff is good.I had never tried Peruvian cuisine before, yet I loved every morsel I ate at this place.
I have been to COYA at least 5 times now and every time it has been just fantastic. Everything I, and those I have gone with have had, has been excellent. My favorite is the Chaufa and my wife likes the salmon quinoa salad but the sandwiches and other dishes are excellent as well.I hear the seafood paella served on the weekends is outstanding but I havent had the pleasure of trying that yet.

Omg!!!!You may think you know what beef noodles taste like. But until you try them here …..flavor explosions in fresh beautiful noodles and veggies in a bed of wide noodles totally different from anything else I’ve had statesideIgnore the “ ambiance” and “decor”. Just take off your high hat and be ready for the food to amaze you.

Reviews are generally really good, so maybe Im a one-off. The flavor was great but the beef was very fatty, I can overlook that because its very American of me to not like chewing meat fat! Im only moderately happy with the food because the skin of the empanadas had the texture of having been microwaved and that was really disappointing.
Ordered the Chicken Chaufa, absolutely scrumptious. Catalina made it right there, and it tastes awesome. You can tell it’s authentic!
Terrific authentic dishes. Its in the liquor store and as such take out is probably the best option. Why there is a grill in the liquor store I dont know, but this place is well worth the visit.
Ceviche mixto was fresh and delicious with a perfect portion size.

The food is so fresh and lovingly prepared by the most wonderful chef you will ever meet. Everyone in our party that ordered loved what they got. Both the Chicken and Pork sandwiches are very good as is the lomo saltado.
The food was so good and authentic, my grandmother is Peruvian and I know she would love this place! Its sweet, tucked away, and definitely a hidden gem in SLO.
Absolutely delicious and made right there in front of me. The price was steep for counter service, but I guess thats the case for most food in SLO. They do have some more affordable sandwiches I plan to go back and try though! Id definitely recommend checking out COYA, but be prepared to splurge a little when you do.
I have never been disappointed with any of the options Catalina has on her menu. Very tasty and prepared with love. Lomo Saltado, Chaufa and her famous peruvian ceviche are all made with great ingredients and passion.
Amazingly authentic and delicious Peruvian food freshly cooked by the owner, who was born in Peru. I knew it was going to be good when I walked into the Sidewalk Market (COYA is located inside) and saw an assortment of Peruvian food items I had only seen before in Peru; the owner imports them to make sure the food is the real deal with the real spices. My first bite of the lomo saltado (like a beef stir fry, classic Peruvian dish) transported me to my time living in the country. The owner is incredibly friendly, the prices are cheap for what you get, and the service fast. I cant wait to try more dishes. Highly recommended for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner to picnic in Mitchell Park or take wherever youre going!
Im Peruvian and I can tell that the food is same exactly as Peru, it’s so good. Catalina, the owner, is so warm and amazing ! Definitely is a must to stop in SLO.
Highly recommend the lomo saltado- unassuming spot but don’t let that dissuade you. stopped here for a fast bite on road trip back to Los Angeles. You can eat at the nice park across the street and wash it down with a iced tea or ice cream from the tea shopping sector down the street. Haven’t had Peruvian food in a while and this hit the spot!

Stumbled upon this place inside a deli and the chef was so lovely and inviting. Ate indoors and tried the tilapia ceviche and beef chaufa. The ceviche was perfectly spiced - she even let us taste for spice before finishing the dish! Capped it off with a passion fruit creme brulee that really hit the spot. Would come again for sure!

We were visiting the city for our honeymoon and found this place. Near our hotel it was the best decision, it is inside a little store but the lady was so nice and friendly, the food was delicious, I loved the chicken chili and of course the grilled chicken is juicy and delicate. We tried to go 2 days later (Wednesday) to taste it again before heading to the next city on our trip but unfortunately it was closed. I hope to return to this city on Friday before we leave the area and eat homemade Peruvian food again

The ceviche and Tallarín were standout dishes, and I was truly impressed by the chef preparing everything herself right there. Aside from the menu she’ll also prepare smaller treats like tamales, desserts, and the like. Great option for take out and food travels well.

Cooked with authenticity, food was fresh, flavourful, and pure home-cooked comforting. Seating area small but intimate and informal. Just a great neighbourhood oasis. Thank you!

2023-11-27 22:01:16My request to leave off the onions and sauce on the side was denied. Clerk insisted she would not do this. When the sandwich arrived it was piled with oily onion and the greens were drenched in oily dressing. I ate the meager portion of salmon after blotting it with a napkin and everything else went in the garbage as my digestive system can not tolerate all the oil. I will not return.
