This is the best chicken sandwich Ive ever had. The fries were perfect, the hush puppies were delicious,the sandwich was juicy, crispy, the coleslaw and the pcikles were over the top. We went to this place after hiking in Malibu, and this was a great reward. Will be back on the way to LA on Tuesday. Great service.

I just saw that it reopened on Instagram. Stopped by to see if it’s good and it definitely was. You start your order on a machine & they’ll call your name when it’s ready.I tried a two piece Lemon pepper & Garlic with a one piece a La carte hot. They all tasted great, great quality chicken & breading wasn’t that bad. Their ranch and Cuckoo sauce was a great addition to the meal.The hot level wasn’t as hot as I thought it would be but it was still good and flavorful. The lemon pepper was also good but I think I liked the garlic the most.I’d definitely come back and it’s one of the only Hot fried chicken places with lots of other flavors.***update***I tried their new seasoned fries and they’re pretty darn good. More like tradition McDonald size French fries and they were cooked/seasoned perfectly.

Great chicken sandwich. Had the Original Cuckoo Sandwich with slaw on the side, garlic seasoning. It was delicious. The worker who took our order was very friendly and answered all our newbie questions. I would go here over the chains. I love supporting small businesses.

First time here and the food was fantastic. We got the Deluxe sandwich with garlic crinkle fries. Both were amazing! But sure why the a/c wasnt even on during 90°+ day so that was a bit uncomfortable. Great fried chicken sandwich and the medium hot spices were perfect.

Been wanting to try this place for a while, I wasn’t disappointed! Had the original grilled chicken burger with coleslaw.Pros: Excellent quality chicken, juicy and delicious. Oher ingredients and bun very fresh. Coleslaw crispy and flavorful. Giant A rating on the window, good music inside, not too loud, clear menu items. The girl at the register was very friendly and helpful, food was quick to arrive.Cons: I know it’s just a door, but the front door looks gross and it’s literally the first impression. There’s some kind of cardboard barrier at the register that feels impersonal. Like thick glass and bars at a bank. The touchscreen to pay wasn’t working. I think there was a tip jar but it was kind of behind that barrier and I paid with a card so they didn’t get anything. No napkins in the bag, no offer of condiments on the way out.Overall good, I’ll be coming back as it’s a great way to get some healthy protein for a fair price.Thanks!

Hole in the wall place for a crispy chicken sandwich. Service very friendly, and although it’s hard to find this place, the place itself is very clean and well kept.They have outdoor seating and grab and go drinks (non alcoholic). Don’t pass this place up. We will for sure be back.

Delicious no-frills Louisiana style chicken. Careful though! Even the medium is nearly too spicy for the uninitiated. Even still, the chicken is fantastic, thick, flavorful, and filling. Ill definitely be back!

Pre-ordered my food. As Id heard that it took them a while to bring out an order. My food was ready at the time I requested. I got the mild original chicken sandwich and a side of hush puppies. Mild was a little bit too mild for my taste. Overall I think that they make good food. I had a small bit of the reaper from a friends order... Not for the weak willed or faint of heart.

Great quality! There is alot of chicken with each bite (some places Ive been to seems to be more breading than chicken, but not here)! The chicken is juicy and not dry. Wings had plenty of chicken to them and were tasty. The spice level is on par with other places, maybe a little spicier at most. Mac and cheese is ok, needed some pepper--am going to see if they can add some spicey sauce to it next time. Sandwich was good and the piece of chicken was huge. Definitely worth checking out. There is a TV there for watching games too.

Order now! Absolutely delicious and authentic fried chicken/spicy chicken sandwiches. They used to have the best lemon pepper wings too, but sadly they had a menu change and removed a lot of items. If you want awesome fired chicken but dont want to drive all the way to valley, this is the place to go.

This is my go-to place to get chicken when im in the westlake-agoura area. some of the best chicken ive had! i like the garlic seasoned breading the best, and the cuckoo sauce has an awesome flavor too. only downside is, the wait for your food takes about 20-30 minutes, which can be annoying if you are hungry or in a rush. it doesnt usually go above that though, so just order in advance on the website if you are in a hurry! great place.

When Cuckoo Rooster first opened, I was so excited. They had the best fried chicken I’d ever had in my life. They didn’t have a lot of sides, but the chicken itself was so good that it didn’t matter.However- that was three years ago. I suspect the pandemic has been very hard on this poor establishment, as I just ordered chicken for dinner tonight. Not only have their ordering practices changed (they no longer allow dine-in OR walk-ins OR call-in orders; all orders must be completed on the Internet), but their food options are severely limited from what they used to be as well.I like dark meat. I don’t mind bones as long as I can have legs and thighs, but they no longer carry legs and thighs, they only carry breast fillets. Okay, I guess I will have a couple breast fillets. They had a few new flavor options, so I ordered lemon pepper and rosemary, one on each fillet.It was disgusting. The chicken seemed not as fresh, and the flavoring seemed to be a powder or oil that was added on after cooking and in both cases there was also sugar in the flavor. I don’t want added sugar in my food, that’s why I don’t go to the franchise fast food places. I couldn’t finish it, I had to pull all the breading off the rosemary chicken breast to even eat any of it, and I felt extremely nauseous afterward.I gave two stars instead of one because the staff is still very nice, and I am sure that these are not changes that the restaurant wanted to make but rather that they were forced to make because of supply side issues or other pandemic-related problems. But I am certainly not going to order food or eat food from here ever again, it was just too disgusting. RIP Cuckoo Rooster :(

I am visiting a friend in the area and craved Nashville fried chicken sandwich. I never thought that I would find a place as good as the one I frequently go to in NorCal. Cuckoo Rooster changed that! I had the medium spicy Nashville fried chicken sandwich - it was juicy, hot, perfect level of spiciness. My friend had the mild tenders and said that she was not prepared for good it is. From now on, I‘ll always stop by Cuckoo Rooster whenever I am visiting SoCal.

Please know they are only taking online orders for pick up.An enormous and delicious fried chicken sandwich and rosemary fries make for a delightful meal at home, cause you cant eat there.I had never intended to move to Agoura Hills, but sometimes all the planning in the world is brushed aside by the will of circumstance. Im grateful that there is at least one great hot chicken place in town, having left behind my beloved Daves Hot Chicken and Howlin Rays. This unassuming closet sized restaurant in a strip mall wouldnt seem to be a competitor to those titans of the Nashville hot chicken trend, but looks can and will be deceiving. The chicken is made with care and the portions are enormous. But the stars of the shop, in my opinion are the Cuckoo Fries which they do a horrible job of promoting and edifying on their website. They come in a variety of flavors, Rosemary, Lemon Pepper, Garlic, all delicious. Come for the chicken, stay for the fries.Parking is super easy and convenient. Plus, theyre right next to a supermarket, so you can buy add ons, soda and desserts there, if thats your thing.

Sooo delicious! Yes, the chicken really is THAT good. I dont know what they do to it, but it really is stand out chicken. They do not go easy on the spices, medium was the perfect heat level for me- spicy, but you could still taste the flavor. The chicken and waffles were superb. I will definitely be going back!

I originally was not impressed with the food when this place first opened. But Cuckoo has really improved since then. The chicken is excellent. Great spices and nice and crispy. The sides, like the hush puppies, are delicious. Very good value for your money. Not very expensive. I still wish they came up with a more original recipe for there’re waffles but they’re not bad. I truly hope Cuckoo Rooster is in Agoura for the long haul.

Cuckoo rooster never fails to satisfy our expectations! Only downside is we live in Oxnard and this locations is in Agoura Hills. Sometimes that does not stop us though! Definitely worth the 25+ minute drive. I would have to say the sandwiches are most definitely better than chik-fil-a and Burning Mouth (Oxnard collection, which is a much shorter drive). Cuckoo sauce and ranch tastes amazing and i always have to order extra sauces, at least 2 of each. I guarantee if the owner opened up a 2nd shop locally, it would not be a regret on their end! For the second time in 4 visits, they were out of their fried chicken breasts when we called for a to go order. We again were told that it would take an additional 50 minutes to prepare a new batch. I cant understand why they dont start a new batch when running low rather than wait until they are out. We ordered anyway but am not happy about waiting an extra 45 minutes. Had to wait an additional 10 minutes upon arriving when they said it would be done. The food was good but I will call in advance and wont wait again.

My buddy and I were coming through town after a job up North and decided to give this place a try. Awesome chicken sandwiches, but be warned, very hot actually IS VERY HOT. It is not fastfood chicken sandwich hot. My friend only took two bites and couldnt take anymore. He also got a Reaper hot tender, but didnt want to touch it until he gets home to put it in some pasta to try and calm it down a little hahaha. Fun to watch friends suffer.

Love that there’s fried chicken in Agoura, the people working there are super friendly, the flavors are VERY GOOD......BUT.....it took WAAY too long to get our food especially since there was no one in line when we got there....20 minutes to get 3 plates. Portions are generous but the batter is HEAVY.....ok if you live in the South but not here.I really hope they get the the prep time issue figured out, and maybe lighten up on the batter a touch......would love to see this family run business succeed, we need more like this.
