Solid, well-made, fresh Chinese food. The homemade noodles are a treat. Very nice people. Very comfortable neighborhood feeling. AND… they are still using the old-school cardboard boxes — which are compostable — instead of plastic take out containers.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in Berkeley. All the dishes we have had here are excellent, and weve probably tried many of them over the years. The specialty dishes are where the restaurant really shines, and the zha jiang noodles are a must. Sesame bread is treat, though eat it fresh. Great place to dine-in.

How can anybody not enjoy handpulled noodles? I ordered the spicy garlic pork noodles--the pork wasvery tender cooked in the spicy brown sauce to perfection. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the tea was definitely a nice touch. Would definitely come back again!

We came here as a party of 4 for lunch. We appreciated that the restaurant checks for proof of vaccination. We each got one of the handmade noodle soups and they were great! Our server was friendly and overall it was a good experience.

I tried the Zhajiang hand pull noodles and preserved vegetables Lamb hand pull oodles. I would definitely recommend the Lamb noodles. The Zhajiang noodles were a bit disappointing it didnt have enough soybean paste and the pork were not chopped thin enough.

Ordered takeout twice in one week here. Delicious garlic noodles and hot & sour soup. They were able to make the noodle dish vegetarian for me and it was delicious. The women behind the counter provided great service and were very sweet.

Not good. Beef noodle soup is a classic Chinese dish and one of my favorites. They advertise it outside their restaurant. It was not good. The broth was too sweet or too salty, just not right. The meat was difficult to chew.

It is not Dalian food nor is it traditional northern Chinese food (不是东北菜), but it is also not your common Chinglish food that we often see in the US. It has some minor differences. Nonetheless, the food is rather good and the service is well. However, they do not give you chopsticks unless you look Chinese apparently.I ordered the eggplant dish with pork.Sources: I have been to northern China several times and my wife is 东北人

191104 updateVery disappointing and insulting. I ordered Jiajiang Mein and the sauce was too less. I should have taken a picture when it first came... so I asked about more sauce, and then they just put some oil-ish on the plate, without actually putting more sauce. Ill never visit here.190202 updateI visited this place again about two weeks ago and forgot to write an updated review. I had missed the jiajiang mien sold here, which was the reason of my visit, but it ended up with some frustration. The menu was too salty and not as tasty as it was. Price was still too high for the quality. If you are not out of budget and you want some quiet place to have dinner then its fine. But if not, definitely not recommendable. For the quality, Great China is better, with similar price. For the quantity, Heat Cafe is more recommendable with a much more reasonable price.First review:Not bad. But a bit more expensive than it is supposed to be.

Great hand pull noodle menu. Tried the garlic pork brisket noodle and beef noodle soup. I would give 5 stars to these two dishes. However, the tea smoked duck was too fatty with little meat on the bones but the buns were good.

So, I only got two items from this restaurant. I got pot stickers and my sis got the chow fun her they were both good! The chow fun had bok choy and other veggies and it was really tasty! I want to explore their menu a bit more cause it was good!

The noodles are really authentic, but I suspect it is spicy for many people. The noodles are more like sichuan noodle with spicy flavor. I hope there are more noodles for one dish. And I am surprised there aren’t many people every time I go. This place is underrated.

The food here was super tasty! Id definitely recommend getting the schezuan fish! Also, service was pretty good. Finally, the portions were a lot bigger than the other reviews let on especially the noodles which come in a pretty standard bowl for noodles at a reasonable price for the Bay Area.

As a Berkeley native, this is my favorite local Chinese restaurant. With a pleasant decor that is a cut above the usual, Da Lian has tasty, fresh, and well-prepared dishes that are not greasy but sparkle with flavor. I recently introduced a friend to this restaurant for dinner and he just loved everything we ordered, so I would gladly recommend it to anyone. Great place for lunch, too.

Excellent handmade noodle dishes. And the usuals, eg honey walnut prawns and snow peas chicken were delicious..not overly sauced nor too salty.Often a nice quiet place to dine with relaxing ambiance. Tables are spaced well apart. We will resume our visits and try more dishes. Located well in NoBerkeley...the site of the old Yangtze River back in the 60s!

Unpretentious Northern Chinese food. Very tasty, if you like spicy food this is the place for you, though they are happy to cater to a milder palate. The vegetables are always cooked perfectly, the proteins are well butchered and prepared. They will replace any protein with tofu, excellent place for me and my vegetarian boyfriend!

Not everything is perfect, the mu shu is bland and the sauteed green beans can be a little bland too. Everything elsse tasty tho, potstickers my fave, also like the garlic chicken alot. Appreciate that the sauce has less cornstarch than alot of plaaces.

Dalian as a coastal city in Northeastern China doesnt have many distinctions, they tried to broad their menu by representing the whole northeastern region but did not succeed. The outcomings are just salty and greasy Cantonese dishes with somewhat northern twists imitation, which I and my guest didnt enjoy so much.
