Kalbijjim is one of those meals that I dream of so it’s always such a treat to finally get some. Daeho is popular for a reason cause they do the dish well for a larger establishment that’s starting to get more locations.I really enjoyed this San Mateo spot, it’s a lot larger than you think it might be but there will still likely be a wait so I’d be prepared for that by either going in earlier or checking the Yelp waitlist. Our hostess took our order before we got seated because it would take 20ish minutes to prepare anyway and that was how long it was to for our table at that time. I really liked this because when we did get our table, all we had to do was wait for the food to come out and it was pretty quick. It also helps that you mainly come here for the top few items and they have a decent selection of other Korean stews etc. as well but the menu is relatively small.Go for the purple rice option! I also recommend extra rice cakes ☺️They also provide you extra bowls for sharing soup vs sharing the kalbijjim as well, this was so thoughtful. Really enjoyed my dining experience here.

Overpriced for the quality and taste. Braised short rib with oxtail Galbijimm ($82) with extra cheese ($5), they torch the cheese on top of the short rib on a bed of vegetables. Not that much meat, and one taste of the sauce, you can tell the over load of sugar. You will feel off after eating this because it is just so sweet and not worth the price. The seafood bibimbap only had TWO shrimps. No idea why it’s called seafood bibimbap with two pieces of shrimp. The presentations of the foods are good, looks cool. But the taste is not it, better to spend your money on better food. The total for the two entrees comes out to $145 after tips. We had leftovers since the cheese, meat, rice was super filling, it is $1 extra for the packaging of leftovers.

Went here for lunch, and this place is nice. When you enter, you have to scan a qr code to see the menu.Once youre seated, there is another place to scan the qr code for the menu. It was pretty busy, but the people who work there have a system. They are pretty efficient. They give you water right away with your own pitcher.Once I placed my order, I looked around, and it had a modern yet sleek, classy type of vibe. Very minimalistic in decor. If anything, they had pictures of featured items they currently have.I received my sides right away, along with my mango makku. Never had before, but it was good. It was sweet with the perfect amount of bubbly. It didnt taste like a beer. Im definitely going to look for this on the supermarket. My kalbi bibimbap came sizzling piping hot. I couldnt help but dig in. I loved the assortment of veggies. I was a little disappointed there wasnt that much beef. Im not sure why, but I was hoping for the kalbi short rib with the bone. The fatty pieces wouldve gone well with this. The food was amazing. I definitely cant wait to come back when I have people with me to try the braised short rib soup or beef tartare.Service was fast and I highly recommend this place.

My favorite restaurant in the Bay Area. Feels very authentic—with heavy metal chopsticks, cups, etc.The beef on the Kko Gal Jjim falls right off the bone. Make sure to get cheese—they’ll torch it in front of you. “Regular” size should be enough food for 3 people-ish.Bi Bim Myun also comes highly recommended. Tastes much lighter than the Jjim, so it was a good balance.

Get here early for dinner if you can to join the Yelp Waitlist - there is almost always a wait here. The waitlist determines when you will join another line to preorder your food before being seated and then the service is extremely quick to bring it out to you after you are actually seated. Its usually pretty crowded and loud both with people and workers running around inside unless you go at lunchtime.Daeho is well known for their Kalbijim but I think that the soup they sell, particularly their bone broth based soups are amazing. My favorite is the ox knee bone soup. The portions are generous and could be enough to split into two portions. You season it yourself with salt and pepper on the side and it is served with pickled onion and jalapeños and green onions to add to your soup. You also usually get to choose which type of rice you want, purple (which has more texture) and white. Each location of Daeho that I have been to so far has had pretty consistent food which I think is really important. The side dishes are usually good as well, I like the chives and kimchi in particular. Overall Id say Daeho is on my list of places that I will visit over and over in the Bay.

The beef rib is so good! Must get the cheese! Its very filing and heavy and a bit on the sweet side so you wont be able to eat much of it.The purple rice is good too.

Super busy place for weekend dinner, but luckily they have waitlisting service from Yelp and you can time your arrival to join the wait-list ahead of time to minimize wait time. Order is taken at the time you check in for your party. Make sure you study the menu or photos ahead of time. All the dishes we had were genuinely flavorful and well seasoned. The braised beef rib soup with medium spicy is just perfect. The milky ox tail soup is rich and free of grease. The cold noodle is a bit sour but adds a good balance to the saucy short rib dish.

Be mindful with the yelp check in, once you get the text you should like up to order the food and they will bring you in after. The service was great and food came out on less than 10 mins. The spicy level is not that bad so with mild it was barely spicy. The beef rib soup was salty but still flavorful and the beef was tender.
