Daikokuya El Monte in South El Monte

Im a huge fan of this particular ramen chain, so discovering a new spot near my work was a pleasant surprise. The location boasts of a fantastic lunch special that makes it all the more alluring. The sushi is great. Fresh and flavorful. Its authentic taste is simply unmatchable. Between the gratifying ramen and the refreshing sushi, my lunch breaks just became the highlight of my day! This place is a must-visit for any ramen lovers, especially if they’re sushi aficionados too. The staff is very polite and attentive. Great music choice too.Can’t wait for my next visit and study sesh

It was terrible experience much lower than the expectations. I thought this restaurant should be good and good authentic as they have chain branch in little Tokyo… The truth is the dumplings are very sticky and oily. The topping pork belly was cold and no flavor ..hard to imagine. Don’t come if you want to experience the signature Japanese ramen.By the way, the draft asahi beer was good.

Let me start off by saying that this spot has definitely met the little Tokyo (original) Daikokuya standards. In no-way am I dissing the original spot but this place is it (mind you, you don’t have to wait 1 hour to get seated in this spot). I’ve been here multiple times and it is just delicious and closer to home vs LA. Hands down my favorite ramen spot and I HIGHLY recommend. Do me a favor: stop reading this review and go give it a try. I highly recommend the original Ramen combo bowl with their famous fried rice… it’s stupid good. The atmosphere is cool and the staff are on top of it when it comes to service.

The food in this store tastes the same as another chain store, but there dont seem to be many people there, giving it a spooky feel. There was a very cute black cat at the door, probably a stray cat nearby.

The food is ok, it seems they have changed the recipe from the one in Little Tokyo. Their signature ramen seems to be missing something. 3 stars for the ramen but 5 stars for the hot asian guy who served on us and the other staff member who waited on the other table who had so many requests. I wish they bring back the old recipe back.

The food here is awesome. Every time that I have been to this restaurant, I have been seated immediately. The service is top-notch!

There’s 3 options for ramen and many more options for rice / appetizers etc. For your ramen, you can add in “back fat”. It’s just fat that gets put into your soup. It’s suppose to make it richer but it honestly didn’t taste any different to me. The price is pretty high compared to other ramen shops. The portion was okay for the price. They do have a small parking lot in the back. I’m sure once it gets busy, it’ll be difficult to find parking but if you get there before 6. Parking should be okay. I’d recommend to try at least once if you’ve never tried this chain before.

This is a fantastic ramen restaurant. I got the spicy miso ramen and small pork cutlet bowl combo $20.95 and it was delicious! The portions are large and filled me up. Way less crowded than their Little Tokyo location. The staff is friendly and there is free parking in back.

Love this place. It provides a pretty good taste and feel of Japan. Everything on the menu is pretty good. The cabbage salad is delicious. All of their salads are good. The cold ramen dish isnt to die for, but its not bad either.
