My first time here after hearing so many good things from my husband since he grew up eating at this place. We got the combo which was the noodles, rice with beef and a salad. I got their house special noodles which is the daikokuya noodles. Overall K thought it was ok. The noodles were a bit starchy. But the broth was creamy just enough, although I felt like there wasn’t enough char shiu meat in my noodles, just very little and thinly sliced. We also got CA rolls and they were very good. I’ll try other dishes next time.

I order two combinations for 3 people. Each combo included their signature ramen, a salad, and a side dish. Our picks were the chicken egg bowl and the pork cutlet bowl.The salad was pretty good. However, the ramen was a bit of a letdown. The two bowls we received were inconsistent. In my case, my bowl was piping hot, but the noodles had an odd floury texture. My girlfriends bowl was lukewarm, and her noodles were chewier than mine. The ajitama, a seasoned egg, didnt quite hit the mark either.While the bowls were a step above the ramen, the sauce they used was a bit too sweet.We waited for approximately half an hour before getting a table. The indoor seating options were limited, but luckily, theres outdoor seating available as well. On the bright side, parking seems to be quite ample.

Food was excellent. I was really surprised about the quality (I ordered the famous Daikokuya Ramen). It was accompanied with good and attentive service.The local was not really good. To reach the restaurant, we needed to go through a parking area where dangerous people were waiting inside of their big cars.

A very good ramen experience. The ramen was full of flavor and the ingredients were high quality. The shop is somewhat small, as typical ramen shops are. The service was very quick and our food was ready in less than 5 minutes. The shop itself is tucked away but has ample parking in the sizable parking lot provided.

In terms of vibes, it’s not very high quality. It’s not trashy but it’s a lot different from the other Daikokuyas in the area. The outside eating area is a hodgepodge of different tables and chairs. While we were eating, more groups came and it was kind of awkward as they were just waiting around us, as we are seated right outside the door.When we were ready, the server took our orders by memory, and then later gave us the wrong item. They also came with a rice bowl when the other server already brought us one, so it seems they’re a bit disorganized.I had a daikokuya ramen with kotteri flavor and a small katsudon. It tasted good, but ramen is a very competitive scene so this was standard ramen. It has 2 pieces of cha shu, one whole soft boiled egg, green onions, and Bamboo shoots. The katsu was dry, but the egg on top was silky smooth. It also came with a small salad that tasted pretty good.

I got the daikokuya and pork cutlet combo. The salad that came with the combo was really good. The ramen overall was okay.I felt the soup was too heavy and did not have much flavor. Had to add red chili peppers to give it flavor. The noodles were well cooked and was good.The pork cutlet was soggy and undercooked in my opinion.The place was small and not much room to move around. Luckily there was no wait for lunch, but it definitely can get busy quick because only about 15-20 can fit inside.My buddy and I parked on the street, but I can see parking being a issue as well.

Had a dinner on weekday. Be waiting for seats for 10 minutes. Friendly staffs and efficient service. We ordered two bowls of ramen and they were delicious, not oily & not too salty. Fresh made noodles. The soup in the ramen bowl was warm (prefer hot temperature).

Best place for ramen with thick. Juicy, succulent flavor. Periot! I got me the spicy ramen with some corn 🌽. Had the pitcher for 3. And it was refreshing! Also we ordered the daiko ramen combination comes with salad eel teriyaki, and ramen. I cannot stress how delicious it is here. This is it!

Noodles so good I didn’t even wait to take a photo before digging in! Just be prepared to wait a bit for a table as it’s a small restaurant and it is very popular.

I just happened to be in the area for work, but felt I should write something after such a good lunch.The ramen is great! Almost a creamy broth, the egg was tasty and cooked perfectly soft. The new black garlic oil topping is also quite tasty.Its a cute little hole-in-the-wall place, limited seating, but very much worth a visit!

Im actually editing this review, the Ramen was not that good, the noodles were chewy and hard at the same time. Not to crazy about their fried chicken, but the lunch menu is reasonable, the downside is the waiting time, this place is tiny. But you can go online on their waiting list to save time!

Came here before the lunch rush (11:45ish) on a weekday. It was pretty empty but had a steady amount of customers coming in. I ordered the Ramen combo with includes a half size ramen with salad and a pork cutlet bowl. I think I was ordering with my eyes; I arrived hungry. The portion on the ramen was huge. I barely finished the bowl. At first I thought they accidentally gave me a regular portion instead of half portion. (I confirmed with the waitress, that was in fact the half portion). Lets just say I didnt even touch my pork cutlet bowl and had to take that togo. One thing I didnt like was the small salad that came with the order. They put too much dressing. I think I would be content with 50% of the dressing it came with. Overall, the food was good, but kinda steep for one person for lunch (including tip I paid $25. For lunch)

First off, Claudia(our server) was exceptional! Thank you so much for catering to our needs with your professionalism and attentiveness. I ordered daikoku ramen with kattori and extra pork! It was so yummy! Ive been to plenty of ramen spots and this is the only one thats consistent and better than all the rest! No competition exists through out the country! Absolutely exceptional! Their takoyaki came out quickly and hot. They added a tad bit too many fish flakes, but thats such a trivial matter that it hardly warrants any concern. Finally, my ramen was part of a combination plate with salmon sashimi and a salad. Both were exquisite; the sashimi was fresh and had a nice layer of fat to it. The piece practally dissolved in my mouth! Thank you for your exceptional cuisine. Ill be forever faithful to this place.

Talking about something positive first:Pros:1) I liked their combos, added only $4-5ish you get to try more options. A great deal.2) Pork was tender and well cooked.Cons:1) The broth was on the salty side2) The texture of the ramen. It tasted like the ramen you can buy in any supermarket.3) The service, it was slow and not very polite. The elder lady who served us at the front door had some attitude problems, and she let walk ins got their food first. I counted at least 4 groups of people, who came after us, but got their food before us. I wonder why? We waited like 30ish mins to have our food done.All in all, good location but nothing really stoop up. Would I come back? Naw.

In my opinion, Daikokuya ramen is the best ramen in LA! Definitely as good as the little tokyo Daikokuya too. The wait was 1 hr 30min with my group being 7th place. Go in early, scan the QR code to get in the yelp waitlist and roam around, definitely wait the wait. I love the taste of the Daikoku ramen, which is their signature dish. Its really rich in flavor and very filling, specially with the large amount they give. Their toppings go really well together. The pork in the ramen is a bit bland, but the broth makes up for it. The noodles are a perfect size. The pork rice bowl is also delicious. Very flavorful and satisfying. The karaage is also delicious. I would get the gyoza instead, since it is a lighter appetizer.

This is my go to local ramen place whenever Im craving some authentic, flavorful, and filling food. I highly recommend you get the combo with your ramen I always get cutlet with egg and rice.The ramen is really customizable you can add tons of extras! I always add corn, seaweed, and spicy miso bomb! Also do not forget the sides they have a great variety I usually go for a sushi roll or takoyaki. They also have dry options if youre not feeling soups like rice bowls topped with teriyaki chicken. They also have great beers on tap so if you wanna wash it all down with a refreshing cold brew youve come to the right place.This place is small and intimate but the limited seating combined with its popularity means coming in during the lunch rush or the weekends could leave you with hefty wait time, especially if you want indoor seating. If you dont like waiting or you arent crazy about the cramped seating I recommend maybe calling in and making a phone order for pick up

We tried this place after seeing some videos of small hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Japan. This place definitely had that sort of vibe.Inside is kind of small. Maybe 8 counter seats and 3 tables that can seat maybe 10 people. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because I felt like the decor was lacking something I still cant put my finger on.The food was mostly pretty good. The house ramen was decent. I felt the broth couldve had a little more umph to it. The oyako don and katsu don were very tasty. The fried rice stood out the most. Very flavorful.If I was to go back, it would definitely be for the fried rice and oyako don.

Long 45min wait for a party of 3 since the place was quite small and busy. The spicy miso and daikokuya ramen was really good (noodles was al dente and the soup was rich and flavorful) but they messed up the egg (it was over cooked and quite bland). The pork katsudon was meh. It wasnt crispy, was quite bland and contained too much rice. The takoyaki was good and so was the Sapporo draft beer but it was quite small (small volume glass mug was used).

Food comes out very fast. Although I hope the customer service can be slightly better :( The waiter did not recall the order to make sure our order is right. So I ended with extra ramen when I said I just want one. She insisted that I told her otherwise and gave me attitude and said they already did it. She then started being sassy, so I just agree with her :( Please train the lady staff with blue hair. The rest were very nice!

I love it here! Not only is the ramen insanely delicious but the service is quick and they are so nice and friendly. Yes the wait can be long sometimes up to an hour but it is a small place and they are doing their best with this covid stuff going on. It is so worth the wait.

I was super excited to check this place out since there were positive reviews. On entering this place it was really stuffy and it reminded me of a muggy locker room smell.I decided to order the combo to try the pork katsu which was not crispy and served on a bed of rice with onion. The salad was shredded cabbage doused in island dressing .The star should be the ramen and the first spoonful of the broth left this sweaty dank aftertaste. The broth tasted like the smell of the place. I’m not sure if this poor ventilation and the cook ware need to be aired out but there was this lingering foul taste.The ramen was good consistency. The egg fist ooze and was a little over soft boiled. The broth doesn’t compare to Silverlake Ramen. Overall, I didn’t finish my bowl and was disappointed and probably won’t come back for their dishes

I ended up going to Daikokuya twice in consecutive nights (I genuinely enjoy a good ramen and those are hard to find where I live). The food was great in both occasions and there were a lot of people waiting to go into the small restaurant. I have been to ramen shops in Tokyo and Daikokuya looks the part -- it is not the most sophisticated ambiance (in fact, it is small and mostly poorly decorated). On the other hand, it is easy to see that the main focus is on the quality and freshness of the food (just like in traditional ramen shops in Japan). Service was great both times and the food was quickly available. I definitely recommend this place.

I was surprised to see not one, but two vegan ramens featured on this short menu - I opted for the spicy one figuring that it would be the more flavorful, but can attest that both the spicy broth and the white broth vegan ramens (lol) are very flavorful. Significantly better than any vegan ramens Ive had around LA. So get the word out, because this place rules! Its a little hidden but once inside the tiny, low-barred interior feels similar to a hole-in-the-wall noodle bar in Japan. I cant wait to take more friends here!

The ramen here isnt too bad. My wife got the regular non fatty broth ramen and I got the spicy miso ramen. I prefer the spicy miso more than the regular one. The regular broth tasted like beans sprouts. My wife thought the fatty broth was too fatty for her taste. The noodles were done nicely, great chewiness. Ramen is just so much better in person, dining inside or outside when the soup is hotter and everything just tastes better. However, the ramen here was definitely promising enough even for takeout that I’d love to try it again when I can dine in. What can I say about Daikokuya that has not already been said. To date they have the best ramen Ive ever tasted; which is saying a lot because Im very picky where I eat it. We arrived 30 minutes before closing but the staff was still very friendly and polite; offering up recommendations to the best experience. We got our food to go as we have an energetic 5 year old we need to put to bed. Definitely will be back to check out the ambiance and enjoy some more ramen.

My friend and I liked it a lot, & hes very critical. The noodles I loved, because it was like 10 seconds early from being al dente (I like firm noodles). I ordered the spicy miso & friend ordered tonkatsu (I think), & we both agree that our pork is very delicious (not js salty-ish). The place is small, & we waited about 30 minutes. But it looks look you can put yourselves on the waitlist thru yelp, which is a really nice feat.

My late night go to spot for ramen. Open late at night. Even if you get there right at closing they still serve you which is awesome. Pretty good selection and they have the best squid legs. They have some sushi too. Also didn’t know this but they have lunch specials which are half bowls with a side. Parking can be messy though since it’s like in a shopping plaza so I recommend coming early or late at night. Great place though.

So far Ive had the various ramen dishes from these Los Angeles area Kopan, Dashiwa, Ben-ten, Slurpin Noodle. Daikokuyas broth wins out. Especially if you can take the richer kotteri flavor (no extra charge), which uses added soup extracted from the back fat. At $13.50 for the Daikokuya Ramen, it is more expensive than the other other places, but you do get a better flavor.

Been to this location just once, past 8pm and it was still very busy. We had to wait in line and didn’t mind the wait too much as we always had delicious experience at the WeHo location. Their overall pricing has gone up, but it’s reasonable since the inflation and Covid must have taken a toll on them as it did to any other businesses.Got our usual ramen, spicy miso and tonkatsu. The spicy miso was missing the chasiu pork and when reported to the server, she kindly informed the kitchen staff and brought out a dish of chashiu pork slices a bit later on. To our surprise, pork slices were COLD and not pan-fried. Based on my experiences, hot ramen soup always came with cooked-then-freshly-pan-fried chasiu pork slices in it. I get that they’re busy, but serving not completely prepared cold pork for hot ramen soup was just a huge turn off! Also both ramen didn’t taste as good as the WeHo location. I liked that they were less salty (than WeHo) but the flavors were lacking. I just felt like the ramen broth were not cooked/prepared properly.Based on just one experience (may be it was just a bad day, IDK), we left disappointed. It didn’t uphold the quality of Daikojuya that we credited it for. The quality control seemed to be lacking.

Broke the first rule of Daikokuya: came with a large party of 5, and had to wait a premium but knew full well what to expect.After being seated, I knew immediately what to get: Daikokuya Ramen Koteri combo with a Salmon sashimi bowl.The salad came briskly and after engulfing it, the salmon bowl was soon to follow.The main star arrived in a timely fashion. Heard about this place from a co worker the place is small lots of Asians I think chinese or Koreans Im Japanese. The waitress seemed rushed not in a pleasant mood from the start food had good presentation I ordered charshu pork a bit salty and the teriyaki flavor was like soy and sugar. My co worker ordered sushi which had 6 pieces or bites. Paid 27 bucks with 8 bucks tip so total 35 and when I gave it to the waitress she didnt even say thank you. I usually dont give low stars but this place I would not recommend or go to again cause it seems like they dont need the business. Waited for over 30 min at a cold night.There was a couple having a conversation after they finished eating and paid. This love bird wouldnt leave. I just think that the servers could have nicely asked them to move aside for the next customer. Horrible experience. I am not sure I will be going there anymore. Daikokuya looked like a pretty popular ramen spot out in Monterey Park, so I decided to give it a try. The shop is not big. There are only a few tables and the rest of the seats are alongside the kitchen. On a Saturday night, all tables were already filled, so I had to put my name down and wait for a party of 2. Not sure how long I waited, but it felt like forever.Finally got seated and we decided to get the homemade gyozas, Spicy Miso Ramen, and a Daikoku Ramen combination, which includes a small pork cutlet bowl and a side salad. The gyozas were good, but I didnt see anything special about them. The ramen broth was very rich, but expected to have a little more flavor and spice. The ramen had a good texture to it. I felt like there wasnt enough toppings in each ramen bowl. I would pass on the pork cutlet bowl. The pork cutlet wasnt crispy and there wasnt much flavor to it. Haven’t been here for years after the pandemic. Today just swing by and give it a try. There are lots of flies inside. In my opinion a electrical lamp will resolve it but they don’t take any action on that. During eating, they land on your arms or food. You need to prepare scattering them. Actually they already landed on your noodle while the chef put it on the counter before the waiter pass to you. According to another customer, they saw cockroaches before. Today’s Chasiu pork taste bitter for some reason. I don’t know what’s wrong but it just have a bitter taste unusual. Hopefully it is not some pesticide by accident. I will not come in the next five years most likely.

I used to dine here all the time when I was living in the area. I havent been back at this location since I moved away two years ago. Just few days ago I was in the area, so I had to eat this again. It is sadly to say their soup base has changed. It wasnt as good as before. Service was amateur (they were still somewhat polite, so I wont use the word bad.) The original Daikokuya in Little Tokyo is my favorite ramen spot in L.A. Just a dot in already vast variety of ramen shops in the area, this particular chain has always had loyal customers and good food to back that up.When I found out that there was a Daikokuya in Monterrey Park a few years back, I immediately decided to check it out and it has not disappointed so far.The regular Daikokuya Ramen is their staple but they have other things on their menu that are always worth a taste. Their variety of sushi ranges from California rolls, Specialty Rolls, Tuna rolls, etc.Overall the pros of the place is that the food is always good, the service at both Monterreys location and Little Tokyo are great and will always accommodate your needs.If there are any cons it would only be the wait times. Right now due to COVID, they are requiring you to check in through either Yelp or just going in person but the times will range between 25-60 mins at most in some cases.

I tried this place on my birthday and it did not disappoint!! The staff is super friendly and attentive and the ramen is just extrodinarily delicious. The meat is cooked to perfection so it almost melts in your mouth! You will not be disappointed

Food was mediocre and lacked flavor. Restrooms were unattended, lake toilet paper, paper towels and extremely dated. Just didnt feel clean and healthy.I do not recommend to is place.

Good late night ramen destination; less crowded than the little Tokyo locale. I had the traditional ramen as a combo with the salmon sashimi and a cabbage salad. To start, the salad was over dressed. It was okay tasting, but a bit too much dressing. The ramen was good, but the salmon sashimi - not so much.Next time Ill skip the sushi and sashimi offerings and focus on their core competency, the ramen. The noodles were cooked just right and the pork was tender and flavorful.My wife had a half serving of ramen and an order of tonkatsu. The tankatsu was really good and cooked just right.Ill be back, but specifically for the noodles.

Expect a long wait as the restaurant has very limited seating available. Friday night wait can be up to an hour during the night. One of the best ramen spots that Ive been to that serves Tonkatsu Broth Ramen.

Really great place! I have had few ramens but this place has a “vegan” ramen! Though, I am not certain that the noodles are vegan. Tofu nuggets FTW! BIG DRAWBACK: it kind of smells. Like bad bathroom, mop the dining area then the restroom without changing water. To be constructive it may need a deep cleaning! Diakokuya! Please act on this because I would give 5 stars if it didn’t smell. Tile, behind ovens, degrease, discourage “used” paper in the restroom trash can because I can’t eat there and use the restroom. Customer service is Good. Long waits, but worth it. Try the pork rice!

This is pretty good ramen, but I prefer the downtown location for some reason, although hardly ever a line here. I prefer some other ramen shops more but this is a great one. The fried rice is also amazing.

This little ramen shop brings japan to the states, the shop is unapologetically tiny and the soups are wonderfully rich and the noodles are elastic but not tough. The lunch specials with small rice bowls on the side are perfect if the bowl wasnt enough for you, definitely try the unagi don.

The actual restaurant gets 5 stars for good food and service, but terrible location. Parking situation is abysmal, good luck finding a spot even driving down several levels at any popular dinner time, and theres usually a wait at Daikokuya which in cold weather standing outside for an hour is no fun.

Ramen! Get there just before closing - order the combo ramen & catsu ~ load up on ginger. You should finish the ramen in less than 10 minutes and never, ever drink the soup (its only meant to keep the noodles warm)

The customer service needs to improve, the cups were not washed properly,food is ok not the best the prices are too high, I wasnt satisfied and the server wanted tip and they didnt even check on us, we got the food and extra items when we were half way done.

****MANAGER***** MANAGER*** READ THIS, Im a REGULAR at this location, its being 2x revently, I happen to be eating while your waitress are counting $$, and its like time stops, even your kitchen personal just hangs around, since they stop taking people in, taking orders, etc. I have NO idea why they do this while busy, (rush) makes No sense at all! Patrons waiting outside, no turning tables, while I was being seated, another customer was complaining about this,How come they dont get seated, they have open and ready tables, the waitress greeted us and updated us, telling us there will reset and then seat us., dont take this wrong, they are great waitresses, but having to count $$, both at same time! Great spot to try out i didnt know about this spot till my friend told me about it, its incredibly delicious i fell in love with the food and the friendly customer service thanks also happy hour is a big must beer is at a great price, you wont regret trying this place out the only bad thing is the waiting for a table but after that wow just wow the quality of the noodles and the broth is just to die for.
