2023-12-08 15:54:09Expensive Chinese food and smaller portions. We came here for dinner, so we ordered a full-size bowl of Oxtail noodles soup, and it was delicious. The full size is like a half bowl of Pho (Vietnamese noodles soup). Dont waste your money on the drinks. I got the classic black milk tea, and it was water down. I thought this was California, and you cant go wrong with milk tea. I was wrong. The server was slow, and we only saw him twice for order and brought the food to us. We have to flag him to get the bill. I cant imagine during the weekend if this is what you get for service.

2023-09-06 00:06:41Amazing Chinese food in Long Beach. Highly recommended and will come back in the future. The staff was very friendly and kind. Tried scallion pancake, chicken and pork XLB, string beans with garlic, chicken dan mein noodles, fried rice with pork and pork and shrimp dumplings in chili sauce. It was a feast! Everything was delicious and I was glad I came for dinner. Great location too.

2023-05-26 03:35:11Had a great experience at this newer restaurant. Quite busy, even for a Thursday night. We got the dungeness crab fried rice that had actual chunks of crab. The three cup chicken was great, the chicken was cooked well with a light sauce that was just a little spicy. The dan mein noodles were large hand made noodles that you could see in the kitchen from your seat. Fun experience and great food!

2023-02-14 20:18:51Great location, and glad for options if you can’t go too far for XLB. Enjoyed the XLB (more broth than “the others”), short rib fried rice. Also ordered chicken noodle soup & popcorn chicken. Overall, flavors are distinct but disparate, the food tastes good but would taste better to me if everything played together as a team. Def will come back to try crispy dumplings.

2023-10-27 02:31:48My to go experience: ordered steamed chicken dumplings and fried pork dumplings. I was told it’ll take 10-15 mins, after 25 mins of waiting I’ve asked for an update and I was told second item was coming… Restaurant was almost empty. 🤷🏼 When I finally got my order fried dumplings were already cold and of course not crispy, but spongy… steamed were somewhat warm. Sauce came with fried dumplings was way too salty… Portions are not very big, so an adult man need to order I think 3 portions of dumplings. Waitress was friendly, but I won’t come back.

2023-09-20 14:14:34Great place for lunch since they started offering smaller lunch portions. The vegetable Dan noodles need to be down in full size though, because theyre so delicious. Sal and pepper tofu and the sprouts are also top favorites.

2023-08-17 07:15:13Food was quick and delicious! We got one order of pork soup dumplings, bc it seemed to be what this is known for. Honestly, it wasnt anything new or spectacular, in my opinion. A little bland almost. But I like the chili oil, vinegar and soy sauce on the side. We did however also get the 3 cup chicken, and short rib noodles and those were absolutely amazing. So good and so much flavor. The meats were nice and tender with good balance of vegetables in both dishes. Even my picky boyfriend said he loved it and thats rare. Highly recommend those two dishes. Ill have to come back to try the mapo tofu and other dishes.

2023-11-25 00:56:08Move over ding tai fung. The soup dumplings here are really delicious; try the spicy pork ones…slight kick with serious flavor. Beef roll was a perfect starter and is one of the best I’ve ever had (and I order it anywhere it’s on the menu). I have yet to order anything on this menu that wasn’t worth trying again.

2023-07-30 00:48:48This was a takeout order (ordered in person). Staff acknowledged me in 1 min. Ready in 20 mins I was told and 20 mins it was. Everybody was friendly and didnt keep me waiting. So in terms of service for takeout... It was excellent.Food, not on the same street. The food took a bit of a left turn for me. Vegetable Dan Mein was 5 *, but the pork & shrimp soup dumpling was 3* and the mapo tofu with pork was just 2 * ....both just meh. Prices were reasonable... So all in all it was a 3 * experience.

2023-06-25 05:20:40Beautiful and delicious lunch experience at Dan Modern Chinese today! Delightful, sunny atmosphere on the patio. The spicy pork soup dumplings are 10/10 perfection! We ordered a second round. :) So happy this restaurant opened at 2nd & PCH. We can’t wait to go back for dinner and sit inside and try a different ambiance.
