Love the vibe here and food is fantastic. Kimchi fried rice with spam was our favorite! The chicken wings were also crispy and delicious! I personally would prefer to order some with sauce so I’ll try that next time. Price was affordable too. The booths were a great way to enjoy our meal and I think I’ll bring my toddler back because it will be nice to have the booth to kind of isolate us haha. Am planning on coming back.Waiters were nice and helpful too.

My group of friend came here after an A’s game. It’s a great place for a late night gathering. We had some great Korean food and soju. It’s a go to place for us for late night social gatherings.

Arrived to Oakland Airport around 9:00 pm & wanted a casual restaurant for post flight food & to catch up with a friend. Dan Sung Sa was the perfect spot. I was drooling at all the items on the menu. Went with the bulgogi bibimbap - quality ingredients, big portion, & very tasty. Was served bon chon before our food came out as well. Staff was super friendly and really liked the inside decor. Cant wait to come back here & try everything else on the menu!

Don’t be deceived by the “is this a strip club?” exterior, this tiny but mighty Korean spot is a tasty hole in the wall on Telegraph Ave. the service is fast and the dishes are huge. I ordered the spicy seafood soup and it came in a swimming pool size bowl. Great place to go before going out and about Oakland 😁

I came with my friend after work around 11pm, and it was busy but not too much. The place looks discreet outside but inside, it looks totally different. Maybe they were a little bit understaffed because my server was in quite a rush. Banchan was good, we ordered spicy rice cakes and spicy fried chicken wings. The rice cakes were a little sweet but still delicious. Chicken wings were good. Easy, fast, no frills service. Only thing I wish for was more vegetable sides options, but next time I will ask to them (maybe its not on the menu?). Also music was a little too loud. Thanks for the good time and tasty dinner.

Overall: 4.4/5 (dine in)We went to Dan Sung Sa in LA and it was pretty different. The LA locations main menu was yakitori which I dont believe the Oakland location has. This location had much cooler vibes and great throwback music too. We came around 10 PM and got the long middle table so we had plenty of space. The service wasnt that great though, and they brought out the wrong item.Cass Fresh Cold Brew Beer XL ($14): Oh my goodness. When this came out, I was shocked by the massive sive of this beer. It was the equivalent to a 2 L soda bottle! I dont like beer either but this one wasnt bad since it had a bit of the coffee taste. Its a great chase for soju as well.Spicy Rice Cake With Ramen ($19): This is one of the best spicy rice cake I had. They usually taste the same but this one stood out. I think the sauce is what was different. The flavors were just really good. The rice cake & ramen were the perfect texture. This was probably my favorite dish of the meal.Korean Short Ribs ($33): Solid short ribs. Great portion, meat to fat ratio, & quality. This was a close second to the spicy rice cake with ramen.Regular Fish Cake Soup With Jinro is Back Soju ($22): This was under the Double Feature section of the menu in which each food item is paired with a drink but theres a limit of 1 per table. You can choose regular or spicy for the fish cake soup. For the drink, you can choose 1 bottle of soju or beer. We got the Jinro is Back soju which is pretty strong. The fish cake soup was okay. I wasnt a huge fan and didnt think it was worth it but my friend loves it.Garlic & Soy Chicken Wings ($24): This looked good on paper but it was not that great. The marinade was off but I like the toppings and sides that it came with.

Great place to hang out with friends while eating, drinking. Loud music! ZERO STAR for giving us brown yellowish water! definitely from coffee coz we were tasting it. I asked my bf, do they add coffee flavor to their water? But they don’t coz when we asked for a second pitcher.....it was clear and tasteless! So I don’t trust on how they do food! How did they ended up giving us dirty pitcher unless they just grab it from dirty dishes. Overall, we are not coming back. Food is a little pricey for it’s location.

We ordered short ribs, pork belly, and bulgogi. They only came with 4 little banchan:- kimchi (subpar)- some kind of jelly strips (bland)- cucumber (decent)- radish (good)No refills on the banchan and only 1 small bowl of rice for the whole table. The meat took forever to come out and was a bit dry.Corn cheese was way too sweet, not your typical savory kbbq corn cheese. Tasted like they mixed it with a lot of sugar and no real cheese.Portions for the meat and sides were small for 4 people and a bit expensive for the price. Maybe if the food came out at the same time, it would have been better. We were there for 3 hours waiting on all of our food and still left hungry.Wouldn’t recommend to go on a weekend night as it was packed, loud, and service was extremely slow. Find an unlimited kbbq spot if you want to eat Korean meat and traditional sides for a better price.Korean fried chicken (soy garlic) was actually not bad, crispy and decent flavor, but the chicken was literally missing in the middle of some of the pieces when they brought it to us so I’m not sure what happened there.Garlic fries were thin and dry, definitely smelled like garlic but you couldn’t taste it on the fries at all, which is a bit odd.

Used to be my go to place for years but recent couple times were nothing but disappointment . Theres only one server lady and shes surprisingly rude and disrespectful. Every time she tried to take our order, she showed that nasty unprofessional attitude that need not to be shown in front of the customers. Her behavior was disgusting and extremely inconvenient for us to even face her way and I believe the way she treats the customers could lead up to a dangerous situation one day with some other customers that arent having the best mood. Last nights experience was what finally set me off to write this review, her rude behaviors include aggressively trying to take back the plates that arent finished yet, showing attitude while taking orders( acting impatient and angry) she had that fight me if you dont like what Im doing tone, ignoring the customers, bad hygiene ( she could really use a hand soap or gloves ) . I hope this lady would learn some manner before she cross paths with the wrong customers.

Been here a few times before and I will keep coming back! Have never had a bad experience or bad food here. Everythings very rich in flavor. You will not be disappointed. Its almost like being in Korea but with American customers. Always order the soju cocktail: itll get you drunk!! Im not 100% sure what happened but I thought this place was called Porno Bar like in my picture but Google maps and Yelp have it as Dan Sung Sa. Either way, they still have porn on the walls and the quality has not changed. Im happy with it.

Careful with Street parking outside; my car and my friends car both had their windows smashed in between 7pm and 10pm on a Wednesday and we parked just around the corner.

My favorite Korean spot in the Bay, and not just for late night (although that’s a lot of fun, too). Highly recommend - I love taking friends here when they are visiting from out of town. One of the most authentic Korean places Ive had in the Bay. I sat at the bar since I came alone, but the booths all look very private and cozy! The tofu soup had just the right amount of spice, and the side dishes served with the mains were very good. The kimchi was a great balance of sweet and spicy as well. On top of this the servers and bartender were all very kind. I will definitely be frequenting this spot in the future and bringing friends. Great service, great ambience, and great food; easily a 5 star rating for me.IMPORTANT NOTE: please do not listen to any and all ignorant people saying the water was dirty and brown yellowish from coffee or any other uninformed claims. Its barley water; any Korean will tell you that serving barley water is a surefire sign of a restaurant being authentic Korean, AND the stuffs super good for you. They also offer regular water too, just ask.

Mostly bummed because foursquare listed this as a top place for happy hour in Oakland and they do NOT have happy hour - heads up! This is one of the best places to grab late night drinks and greasy Korean food. Everything I have tried is delicious. The staff is friendly and accomodating. It looks a bit skectchy like a dive bar from outside but I love the atmosphere once inside. There are definitely frequent car break ins so be cognizant of that. Given that, I love taking people here that are unfamilar with Oakland after hitting a few bars. It has a bit of an underground charm to it.

Food and service is surprisingly good. Kimchi pancakes are excellent, as is the mussle soup. Large menu with both dinner items and Korean bar snacks. Interior is decorated with Korean pop and music posters. Eat at the cozy counter or get a booth. Not easily found from the roadside, look for the mysterious sign in Korean script. The various Soju cocktails are excellent. Pitcher of beer available with various specials. Typically loud Korean music playing. Not for the faint of heart, but well worth it for the adventurous.

I really like this pace, used to be called the porno palace or something like that. They still have the porno fries on the menue. Though all the cheese and soccer sauce usually gets the better of my tummy. The food is delicious just make sure you have plenty of time as it can take a while for dishes to come out. Good selection of Soju, saki and light fizzy beer. Servers always seem to do their best, to it can be loud and very crowded at times. Portions are more than I can usually eat. Ive had Dan Sung Sa several times before and last night, I have to say, this was THE place to go to if you do not want to go bar hopping yet want to get your drink on. Its located on Telegraph, not too far away from Downtown Oakland so this is also a great place to pregame. Came here to hang out with friends and celebrate and we started off with strawberry soju.In the review guidelines it states one shouldnt use profanity in the reviews so I would like to point out if this restriction wasnt implemented I would throw in some words; freaking fantastic would have to do for now. You couldnt even taste the soju because the strawberry was the perfect sweetness. The green apple soju was aiight. We got 3 pitchers of the soju, which came out to be $40 a pitcher each. We also ordered four bottles of beer, didnt know how much each bottle cost.The food we ordered was two orders of spicy chicken wings, corn cheese, two orders of chicken gizzards,two orders of kimchi fried rice, and noodles. Everything was stick-to-your-ribs delicious and flavorful. The chicken gizzards was unexpected, it tasted great, but when we ordered it a second time it tasted differently. The noodles came with rice cakes and those were chewy and spice and oh-so wonderful. The spicy chicken wings is one of their most popular items which no doubt holds that spot; crispy, sticky, and bursting with layers of flavor. The corn cheese complimented the chicken, and the kimchi added another dimension to the meal. The melding of the soju and food was like a ballet dance in a dark alleyway; beauty in a shady place.The total cost of food and drinks came to about a little over $300 between 8 people. It can get expensive if you did the math. The way I see it, you have a really solid dinner and drinks all conveniently in one place where there is seating for big groups and its not overly crowded. A big plus, its has a wonderful relax atmosphere to enjoy each others company. For Oaklands nightlife this place has to be in the books, if not its totally in mine.NOTE: Street parking only

This is my favorite spot in Oakland for dinner and drinks. Always great food (favorite is the kimchi bipimbab) and fun atmosphere. Been coming here for years. Every time I get sick of the food (cuz Ive had everything on their menu), I always end up fiending for some eventually. Try the whole fried pigeon (real chicken). I call it pigeon because the chicken is real and not mutant horomone-pumped chickens. Try everything, really. But remember this is more bar food than restaurant so keep that in mind.
