I agree with the many positive reviews that praise the delicious food at this restaurant. The Indian dishes were especially outstanding, with a sweet and flavorful mango masala, a spicy and tender chicken vindaloo, and a satisfying vegetarian antipasto. Since Mr Khan is from Afghanistan, I am curious to try his Afghani cuisine as well. I also want to explore the Chinese menu next time. Well done!

This restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem! The exterior is not very inviting, but once you’re inside you realize that you may have discovered something good. They serve Indian, Chinese and Afghani food. Usually combinations of different food like that is a warning that none of them will be particularly good, but in this case, you’d be wrong.My friend and I tried some of the Indian dishes and one Afghani dish. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had panipuri, garlic & butter naan, chicken pepper masala, and koobideh kebab. Like I said, everything was delicious, but our absolute favorite dish was the chicken pepper masala was amazing!

Ordered take out, food was pretty good. Didn’t customize it, could’ve used more heat for my own personal taste. Wish I knew the dishes didn’t come with rice though. Garlic naan was also not buttery/garlicky enough .

Excellent food. We had Paneer Tikka Masala, Bindi Masala, Garlic Naan, Basmati, and some Puri appetizers. It was all great, and reasonably priced. Each dish had its own flavor profile just as it should. I know rice isn’t exciting to talk about, but this place had the most perfectly cooked rice I’ve ever had. Impressive! The chef was very personable and checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. I wish him and his new restaurant success!

I ordered the Samosas at Darbar Halal restaurant and they were so fresh and delicious. They were crispy and very very delicious. They are expert at any type of food. Amazing!!!!!!! We had the most wonderful birthday celebration here. We ordered like ten different things for the whole table to share and EVERY SINGLE DISH was beyond delicious!!! Reasonably priced, and polite and prompt service. Truly a hidden gem! Cannot recommend enough, 10/10, please go try their chicken (any of the dishes bc theyre all SO GOOD!!) Plus we had a blast. Super cute little restaurant!! Loved every bit of it.

I had such a good time here!! Not only is the food absolutely amazing, it is really affordable. ESPECIALLY when you consider how much food you get!! We had so many leftovers even with a large party. On top of that, the service was excellent and the interior of the restaurant is lovely. We also loved the constant stream of Indian music videos on the tv, they set a really fun atmosphere for our dinner. Overall it was such a fun time and I will be back!!

Darbar has the best Indian & Afghani food in the area. Literally amazing every time I go- it always comes out quick, delicious, and hot. Its fantastic for takeout, but also absolutely worth it to sit down as well. The restaurant is spacious and pleasant for a night out- its quiet, simple, and has a fun atmosphere. Management is super lovely and involved- comes round to your table to ask how youre doing, how you like the food, what you think. Awesome chai.And the real plus is that you get better food and service for less than you pay at other restaurants. Its criminal that this place isnt more popular !!

Ive gotten both takeout and dine in at darbar. I recommend the lamb vindaloo, the garlic naan is really good. The mango Lassi is really good here too, very yogurty. Parking is difficult so I prefer takeout, as the area around the restaurant isnt the safest.

Darbar has very quickly become our go-to spot for Indian food in the area. The food is always so consistently good, the service is fantastic, the dining area is so clean and inviting, and the prices are more than reasonable. We always make sure to get the Samosas, Goat Biryani, Butter Chicken, and Garlic Naan - the perfect meal for 3 every time!

The food here is incredible. You have to check it out, so flavorful! Indian, Chinese and Afghan dishes. We had the goat pepper masala and a delicious Afghani eggplant dish. Both were incredible and we will come back again many times!

The people who own and operate this restaurant are so proud and passionate about their food. Im so lucky to live within walking distance, but if I didnt, I would travel far just to eat here. The Kadai Chicken is to die for. My friend had the Chicken Majestic and the Panipuri appetizers, which were also amazing!

The neighborhood is off putting but dont pass by this gem.They have Indian, Chinese and Afghani food on the menu.We had a group of 17, half of which had never had Indian food before. Everyone loved it. The tandoori chicken is the best weve ever had. 1/4 chicken pieces that were very tender and flavorful. We had butter chicken, Manchurian chicken, chicken vindaloo and pepper chicken and chow mein, all of which were wonderful.The service was really quick for as big a group as we had.

Tried this place today and must say was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! We had hyderabadi chicken biryani, shrimp 65, gol gappe, chicken Manchurian… and everything was on point. What’s more, is they made us a mutton karahi as a special order, even though it’s not on the menu! It was amazing and I hope they make it a regular item!The service was very attentive and I enjoyed our meal here. Will come back if I’m in the area!

I ordered chicken Hyderabadi Biryani, chicken corn soup and butter naan. I had ordered parathas, chapati and Chettinad curry too but door-dash messed up the order and I didn’t receive those three items. However for the soup it was 3.5/5 but the biryani was 0/5 I was very disappointed and I had expected the biryani to be very good, the chicken in my biryani was not cooked properly too 🙁I actually called the restaurant too…as I was hurt 😞 as food is closed to my heart specially the biryani but the owner was very polite and listened carefully to the feedback. I am very impressed by the service but not so happy with the food. They are a new restaurant so I hope they do better.

We had an exceptional meal at Darbar Halal - what a gem! We started with panipuri which was crispy, delicate, and delicious. We also shared the chicken pepper masala and the koobideh kabab and both were truly outstanding. The naan (we had garlic & butter) was the perfect balance of crispy/chewy and was an ideal complement to the rest of the meal. The only downside was that we were too full to order more! The service was fantastic and we loved chatting with the owner/manager at the end of our meal - he was very gracious and friendly. I will definitely be back!

I recommend you not to waste your money in Elk grove Indian restaurants they are just waste of time. Their don’t serve good portions. If you really want the authentic then come to Darbar Halal Restaurant it’s a hidden gem in Sacramento.

We were craving indian food last night and I found this spot tucked away in stockton blvd. We decided to give it a try and we do not regret it at all. We tried the chicken tikka masala, chicken kadai, garlic naan, and spicy naan as well as rice. Everything was so delicious! First of all, the food is fantastic. The Afghan and Indian food is absolutely authentic and delicious. Large servings, great spice level, and the service couldnt be better. They also did a great job with the space - super clean, comfortable, and inviting.For those put off by the large menu and the mix of Chinese/Indian/Afghan dishes, I investigated (i.e., I talked to the owner). They have 2 chefs, one of whom cooks Chinese and Afghan food, the other Indian and Afghan. And the owner is from the province of Afghanistan that sticks out between Tajikstan and India and touches China - and apparently all three cuisines are popular there. So its not some kind of weird new fusion :)Im a fan. I still miss Boon Boon, but this place is wonderful and well be back for sure.

The spice rating system is odd. Level 2 is just a light spice, meanwhile the cauliflower appetizer that doesn’t have a spice rating is very spicy.The main reason I’m rating so poorly is because both of our dishes were very watery. Not much substance to them. The container wasn’t full either. I feel like we massively overpaid for the amount of the food received.

I visited this place at the beginning of March 2023 and I was a little disappointed. It was in a sketchy area. The very open room was not well heated so it wasnt comfortable. The decor wasnt cozy or inviting and the service was lacking. I dont think they understand what people in the States expect when they go out to pay good money for prepared food. Perhaps it would be wise to visit other highly praised restaurants to get some tips. They dont have to be expensive ones either.I know a lot of folks have praised the food in these reviews but I suppose that could be because they have never worked in any kind of dining establishment or dont do a lot of their own cooking or just simply have low standards. To be honest, the food wasnt bad but, it was not outstanding (not deserving of 5 stars). This type of cuisine isnt made to order so freshness is not an element here. It seems the recipes are about the availability of certain ingredients in impoverished environments with political turmoil so youll pay $16 for a Biryani (goat) which is just a large plate of rice cooked with spices and about 8 ounces of semi-dry meat (and plenty of bone fragments.) Its on a large oval platter intended to be shared but, in this case, fed only one.I also ordered an appetizer of Somosas which didnt come out until I had finished the Biryani and went up to the counter to ask about my order. It didnt make sense that they would forget my order when the restaurant only had 3 people in it! The Somosas were ok but I was expecting a much greener, no cream, cilantro mint chutney. Theirs was meh. A nice low alcohol lager or pilsner would have made this a better meal not to mention increased revenue per check but, I understand it is halal. I wonder what would happen if they went a little haram.Sorry for the novel of a review. I do wish them good fortune and hope they improve. They seem like nice people. I just cannot in good conscience give them 5 stars.

Being an Indian, its always been a struggle to find the perfect Indian flavors, and Im so glad this place surpassed my expectations.We recently ordered from this fantastic Indian restaurant, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best Indian restaurants in Sac thus far. The food we ordered was chicken karahi, lamb curry, raita, hyderabadi chicken biryani, and darbar special goat biryani, and each dish was an absolute delight.The chicken karahi was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful blend of spices that really enhanced the flavor of the chicken. The lamb curry was tender and succulent, with a rich and spicy sauce that was absolutely divine. The chicken biryani and goat biryani were both incredible, with perfectly cooked rice and a delicious blend of spices that really brought out the flavors of the meat.The portions were generous, and the food arrived hot and fresh, just like it had been cooked to order. The delivery was prompt, and the packaging was sturdy and kept the food in great.I highly recommend this Indian restaurant for anyone looking to order authentic Indian food. Wow! Just wow. We had paneer tikka masala and lamb curry with garlic naan. Everything was amazing. We couldn’t eat it all. It was just a little bit too much food but we’re not sad. We’re gonna have a great lunch tomorrow atmosphere is good staff are very friendly but it’s some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had I do recommend you try the Afghani food too.
