Wake up call! After all of the goods things I hear on social media about this place, my wife and I finally decided to try it. We were sat quickly and the overal exterior and interior of the restaurant is very nice and modern. We started out with an order of potstickers. $11 for 6 small ones. They were bland and devoid of flavor. Plus the restaurant doesn’t even offer hot chili oil and vinegar for them! Those are both Chinese staples and should be on every table!We both ordered the lunch specials. My wife ordered the choose your own combo of Garlic fried chicken and paper wrapped chicken with pork fried rice and I ordered the Sichuan chicken with pork fried rice. Both were ample portions of food (good) and both combos were bland and without any type of Chinese food taste (bad). Seriously, Panda Express tasted better. No hint of garlic or ginger in any of the dishes and mall food court Chinese restaurants seemed like a five star cuisine compared to this bland and tasteless food.One thing that was good was the staff seemed busy and were normally available. However, they did not seem happy and never smiled. Probably because they are forced to eat here for their meal breaks.I have eaten at a ton of Chinese restaurants all over and this one is way down towards the bottom for taste and texture. I have no idea how they have won area awards. I guess this is the only Chinese restaurant in Stockton?Bottom line is go somewhere else and don’t waste your time with this place unless you just like to look at Chinese artwork.

Ive lived in Stockton most my life and have never dined in. On Monday, my hubby suggested we order from the Deli section. HUGE mistake. The Cantonese dinner for 2 came in these teeny containers that could definitely not feed two people. We ordered the sweet and sour pork- meat was extremely questionable. The almond chicken? Looked raw. I wouldnt even feed that to my dog. The garlic chicken was ok but hella greasy.Will never understand why this place tends to be so busy. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing? Or the deli cooks differently? Idk. Best believe I wont waste my money here again.

The steamed sole was absolutely outstanding, I have never tasted anything that compares to it. Their shrimp fried rice was flavorful and had lots of shrimp. I had the lemonade cake with lemon curd filling and was pleasantly surprised. Exceptional staff and food. We will be coming back soon!

We always go at this place to eat. We always dine in with family of 4. The food taste so delicious. The waiters are so friendly and polite. The prices on the menu are not to high.Always we still have some food to take home. I recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

I visited Dave Wong’s with some friends, and we ordered several items on the menu to share. The food was prepared as ordered with the exception of the Mongolian Beef instead of the ordered Broccoli Beef. The waiter quickly resolved the mishap by replacing with the correct menu item. The food was really good. The egg drop soup was prepared different than what I am accustomed to, but the taste was good as all. I would recommend this restaurant

My husband went in after a long day of traveling, he didnt realize they were closing, so he was preparing to leave when the gentleman that greeted him said no, you are ok what can we get you. Not only did they make him a dinner to go they also gave him a complimentary cocktail. They went above and beyond. Not only were they so kind his dinner was great! Would highly recommend!!!!

For quick Chinese food, we used to go to Sherman Buffet in Country Club ..generous n reasonably priced.But few times we went .. the Orange Chicken was hard to chew .. over fried or overcooked .. Sometimes a little sauce n fried rice was not good.So we changed to Dave Wongs Deli ..take out.Love their Sweet n sour Pork, Chow Mein n Tin Foil Chicken.Delicious, tender meat n nice sauce.We order the Combination plate.Theyre consistent.

Not only did my wife and i not get served, we waited over 15mins while sever after server walked past us as if we didnt exist. I wondered if they were prejudice because we were black. I couldnt tell. To top it off it was our 8th year wedding anniversary and wanted to do something different. We started with drinks at the bar then we were seated, after that it was all downhill so we left very unsatisfied and disappointed. My wife informed them of the situation and they gave her a dry apology and a refund for our drinks. Safe to say I dont think we will be coming back there again.

The quality, quantities and service of thebrand has gone DOWN.Called in my order upon my arrival I witnessed a customer that was requestingadditional condiments being denied. It had nothing to do with my order so I wasnt invested in the issue that pursued. While preparing to pay I requested hot mustard and hot sauce the cashier quickly told me no I only ordered 1 item. I asked again she denied my request, I had to ask for a napkin as well as soysauce and utensils.The item I ordered portion size has become smaller, half the size. The food had no flavor and it was cold!!!Find another establishment Dave Wongs Deli is not worth your MONEY. Dave Wongs is a Stockton staple that is a disappointment!!! If you cant live up to the reputation you had on Pershing Ave, then CLOSE!

Wongs is the first place i go to when I arrive in Stockton! The food is the best oriental Ive ever had. The sauces are all light and fresh. It was so good, my fiance requested to go back. We ate there twice in 3 nights. You cant go wrong with anything, but my favorite is the honey walnut shrimp.

It’s an intimate place to eat. I was expecting more the way people talk about this place. Especially since it’s always packed. The food is ok. I liked it had a freshness to it and not so greasy like most Chinese places. Our server did a good job except due to lack of communication we didn’t understand the menu. Don’t think will be coming back anytime soon.

This place is alright. Ordered fried Calamari, Chili Seafood and my partner ordered the Chow Mien. The waiter gave me some problems when I asked for the Chili Seafood because he insinuated that I would not like the dish and that it will be too spicy. I asked for very spicy and when he brought it out, it wasn’t spicy as he was making it out to be. It was almost like he didn’t want me to order it. Good environment and curtain rooms.Ps. Order what you want because your the one who has to pay!

I really enjoyed the sit down resturaunt vs the to go Deli area. When you dine in the food is prepared fresh to order and piping hot. The deli/to go section is food that is sitting in pans and prepared in bulk...just not the way I like my food.Wait staff in dining room super friendly! On the line staff short tempered and rushed...kinda mean. And the food was old, cold and not tasty. I went on a Sat night so maybe they extra busy that night. My suggestion if u want to try them...dine in the dining room!!

Chow main could have WAY more flavor, very bland. 5/10Foil chicken was a 2.5inchx2.5inch piece of chicken wrapped in foil. Was flavorful but too small and was not cooked ALL the way.Please see picture for “almond chicken”, idk what this is but this isn’t anything flavored chicken. This is a salad with chicken and almonds in it.

Best place in the valley for Chinese food. Everything I have had there has been great. Bbq pork with sesame seeds is a must try for appetizers. Fried prawns, Pork chow mein, sweet and sour pork, almond chicken, pork fried rice are all excellent choices.

The food was okay. Chicken tasted like it was sitting out a little too long. The chicken was not crispy it was a little hard. The hot mustard had an aftertaste. Hot sauce was not to my liking. Its not bad. Maybe I caught it on an off day. Ill try it again really soon. The prices are pretty good. They have pretty good portions.

This is an outstanding restaurant. The food is excellent - I dont think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Our favorites, Szechuan Pork, Black-Pepper Shrimp, House special Pork fried rice... we never have leftovers and roll out feeling happy.

Great food. Intimate dining yet still family friendly. While they have an open dining area, there are also over 10 private booth areas.The lemon chicken is most popular, and a great choice if you’ve a sweet tooth. Foil wrapped chicken is dark meat and cones out quite rich. The white rice is long grain and not quite sticky. It’s served and kept hot in a covered dish which is a big plus.

This is a second rate Chinese restaurant. Food while take out is worse than Panda Express and prices are way to expensive for the quality food. If you are simply looking for filler bland Chinese then this is the place for you. If you “think” this is good Chinese cuisine then you need too get out of the area.Food was edible but quality is second rate, basically over cooked, high fat, high sodium, high carbs and low protein count. I would not recommend visitors eating here and inform locals that your are getting poor quality food.

DAVE WONGS CHINESE - STOCKTON, CALIFORNIAThis is the best Chinese restaurant food we have ever had...and we are not unfamiliar with this cuisine.Several years ago, while driving through Stockton, I was riding shotgun with a friend who mention that the next time we were passing through, we needed to stop in to Dave Wongs so he could introduce me to some of the best Chinese food he has ever had. Of course, I had to tease him about it because come-on...the best Chinese is in Stockton?!? (He didnt say the best IN Stockton, but the best ANYWHERE is in Stockton, just so there is no confusion about how ridiculous this claim was.)Fast forward to the next year when we did time it right so we could stop in for lunch at Dave Wongs... Welp, sure enough, it was the best Chinese restaurant food Ive ever had. (...the best EVER Chinese food we have had, restaurant or otherwise, by far, is made by Chinese friends of ours at their incredible friends and family dinners, but when not celebrating with them, this place hits the spot.) No, this is not straight up traditional, like dim sum in Chinatown, but holy cow was it good. But sure enough, my wife had the same reaction to my raving upon returning home after lunch with my friend as I did to my friends raving a year before. Come on...I cant believe the best Chinese is in Stockton.Fast forward to this past weekend when my wife and I just so happen to be driving through Stockton... She lobbied hard for some other great local choices but finally caved in and will be the first to admit she is glad she did.Knowing how great the Garlic Fried Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Shanghai Ribs are from my prior lunch, we ordered the same so my wife could try. She also wanted a veggie (go figure), so we ordered the Wok Charred String Beans, as well as the Crab Rangoon appetizer.Our server extraordinare, Joudy, didnt even bat an eyelash at how much food we had just ordered for only two people, so we were already starting to like her. (I assume we arent unique in ordering everything on the menu that looks good.) She then asked if we wanted rice or chow mein to go along with the other dishes. I thought she was talking about a simple side, but when I said chow mein sounded good, she recommended the Szechuan Chicken Chow Mein, at which point I realized she was actually recommending a fourth entree (plus two sides) for just the two of us! ...Joudy is someone who clearly loves good food, so this recommendation confirmed our new bond with her. When she mentioned this was an item not on the menu but was her favorite, we were sold!Wow...just wow. Of course, all the regular dishes I had tried with Leland were great, but Joudys Szechuan Chicken Chow Mein was absolutely fantastic and might very well be the best Chinese restaurant dish I have ever had. And kudos to my wife for her veggie selection because the Wok Charred Green Beans were excellent, especially when mixed into the Chow Mein.Joudy happily packed up all the extra food for us and we ended up having it for lunch the next day at a picturesque picnic table alongside Millberry Creek in Markleeville, and there were still leftovers for dinner that night. And the whole meal was only $90, which is a total bargain considering it fed the two of us for three meals.If you are going through Stockton in the future, I highly recommend timing it so you can stop into Dave Wongs for lunch or dinner, and I highly recommend you order everything on the menu that looks good, and simply accept that youll be enjoying leftovers later.And definitely ask to be in Joudys section (usually in the lounge/bar) because she is one of the best servers weve ever had!

Service is great, the waiter kept coming back to refill teapot for us. Ambience is great. We had a large party for lunch but they got us a semi private table with curtains on the side to be a little more private. Food is ok, taste is not that great compared to authentic Chinese restaurant, but the lunch portion is very generous. The price is definitely very decent. Will come back again to try their fried chicken. Looks very good. I had the garlic prawns with rice, too salty but a very large portion of prawns. A pretty good size too.

My Mothers Day experience was horrible. I had called two weeks ago in advance for reservation for 10. It was very special to me because my mother is 91 and I know I dont have a lot of years left to celebrate Mothers Days with her. They lost our reservation refused to accommodate us instead they separated our party into two tables where we cannot all sit together and celebrate. Second the waiter did not come for over 20 minutes we did not even get glasses of water I had to go up to the front to ask if a way to please come to our table to bring this water. When I asked them to please accommodate us the man said there was nothing he could do he had other reservations. As I was leaving I told the young girl up front and the young man that they should was in charge that I was really disappointed and my service that day the young girl said okay thank you bye. And the gentleman was also very dismissive. Didnt know if I was treated that way because we were older or because we were dressed in our native American clothing. Either which way I will not be going back there.

Highly recommend this place for large gatherings. We had 27 guests and the versatility of the space allowed for us to have a private dining room. The food was fantastic, particularly the wok charred green beans, chicken lettuce wraps and lemon chicken. Portions were very generous and waitstaff was very attentive. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Decided to try this place since I got a recommendation from a family member, but I have to say we came out pretty dissatisfied and disappointed. Service was great though, waiters were friendly and attentive. But wouldnt go back a second time. About half of the items we got we did not like. Flavor wasnt great, it was just okay. Its pretty overpriced for the quality of food. I think next time Id rather just got to my local Chinese place. I wouldnt recommend this place to others when it comes to quality and taste of food. Service and atmosphere is pretty nice though cant say anything bad about that.

I went with two friends for lunch, Last time there in February I had Walnut Shrimp which was excellent but this time it was noon time so i thought i would try something different...I had the Lemon Chicken wSteamed White Rice it was excellent as well. This location is really unique, there are induvial rooms you can sit in. There are privacy curtains to separate the rooms. We made reservations for my bridal dinner. The wait staff was really nice and accommodating. We ordered a lot of different food, to eat family style. Everything was really good. The chicken lettuce wraps are awesome. Defiantly a nice place to with friends, family or a larger party. There is also a bar in the back.

On 8/3we decided to try the food at the deli. The place was very clean and the food smelled delicious. That was about the only thing good so far. The pork and shrimp fried rice was awful. Short grain rice that was bland. 😡 The garlic chicken was over cooked and had no taste no seasoning just a lot of tasteless breading. The only thing that was worthwhile that I had was the egg rolls. They were delicious, the best I have ever eaten so far.

Love this place. The best hot and sour Ive had yet. Weve tried quite a few places in Stockton and this has the best quality, hands down. I call it the equivalent of Erics Restaurant in Noe Valley (SF).Weve tried over 10 different dishes here, and loved all of them. Im a huge fan of the lemon sauce that comes with the crab Rangoon. Absolutely delicious.

I called and talk to the manager and she believed her employee instead of me. The employee messed up the order after I repeated it 2 times to her. First time there a couple weeks ago and it was a pleasant experience. We arrived late as our friends already got the table ready so we walk right in and with a little help of a waiter we found our friends. We got a booth behind the curtains which we like so we feel a bit more private. The menu was well described and we took no time ordering. I love their deli, we always buy here when we have family visiting. The food is good and the people are very nice. Just make sure you check that all of your food is there before you leave. Yesterday, I picked up a $180 order for my mom who had her siblings come and visit. She was missing around $30 worth of food. The thing is, when I arrived to pick up the food, a worker tells me she will check to see that my order is complete. She looks through it for a bit and then tells me everything is there, and I believed her. It wasn’t till today when I spoke with mom that she tells me that I forgot to order the shrimp and egg rolls, and that is where I knew I screwed up. Always check your large orders, even if they tell you that everything is there!

I come here frequently for a wonderful dining experience. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is fabulous. My favorite entrees are the walnut shrimp and lemon chicken. So I moved to the Central valley from the Bay area 5 years ago and Ive heard a lot about this restaurant and finally went and tried it for the first time this evening. The inside of the restaurant is very nice as well as the staff but lets be honest you go to a restaurant for the food. I went with two friends and we ordered lemon chicken, beef chow fun, shiitake beef and garlic fried chicken. The lemon chicken was way too sweet, the shiitake beef was overly sauced and although the fry on the fried Chicken was good they dont drain it so when you pick it up whether with a utensil, chopsticks or your fingers you see the grease ooze out and for me there was not enough garlic. I found it odd that the child fun which is a noodle dish this price two to three dollars above our entree dishes. However the worst part was when Ive been into a quarter inch long piece of metal. I brought it to the staffs attention and showed them and I didnt necessarily expect them to comp a dish or give us a discount but I thought they would offer to remake the dish that it came from but they did not. For me the food is not that good and is overpriced.

I have to admit, I havent been to Dave Wongs in a while. But my wife loves it and it was her birthday so.... I opted to make reservations for us. 11 in total, including kids. We showed up and it appeared to be business as usual. While masks were optional, staff was wearing them at all times. There was sanitizer easily accessable, if needed. The restaurant appeared very clean and tidy. We were walked to our room in the back. And here is the experience....Staff was kind and attentive. If there is a staff shortage in America, I didnt notice. Actually, staff was incredible and service was fast.The food was hot, tasty and came relatively fast. Portions were good and I had plenty of leftovers to take home.As I said, it was my wifes birthday and we had a cake they were able to keep in the refrigerator for us until we needed. When it came time, they had a candle for us to use and brought the cake out with plates and a knife to cut it.Overall, I must say I HATE dining in a group but eating here today was kinda nice. Im so confused. This place has a 4 1/2 star rating. Why? My son and I visited this place lastnight. $13-$15 for fried rice? $6.50 for 2 egg rolls. The whole menu is so grossly overpriced. But heres the kicker. The quality of the food is nowhere near what they charge. Those very egg rolls are $3.00 for 2 most other places. They are just cabbage filled. Ive never have had a bad meal or bad service. Jennifer in the bar area is the best waitress. start your meal megalith the bar-b-que pork you wont be disappointed. Food is delicious, restaurant is very nice, portions are very good and the prices were surprisingly fair or better than fair. Will be back

I like the atmosphere and the food is great! Our family favorites, sizzling rice soup, chicken lettuce wraps, fried asparagus, garlic chicken, fried rice and beef with broccoli. Yum! We like to go at non peak times ie weekdays for either late lunch or early dinner between 2pm and 5pm.

One of last good tasting Chinese food places left in Stockton. Service is great the atmosphere is always very soft and elegant. My husband actually did the lighting inside and out along with Papa pavlos along with Market tavern. All these locations are very nice places to eat good food with great service. Visiting is a most if your from Stockton or passing through.

Food was very tasty and served hot. Server was not attentive; took 15 minutes before coming to take order, did not refill water or hot tea, when asked to do do took a while before he returned. Restaurant was moderately busy and he could be seen just standing around. We would go back but ensure we did not get same server.

I have been going to Dave Wongs for over 40 years but I will never return. My service on my last visit was so bad they lost nearly 45 years of good will in a single visit. It wasnt just bad service and the cold food that took 40 minutes for them to finally get it out... this place has gone so far down hill it hurts to see it. Thanks Dave Wongs for ruining my lunch with my mother I have not seen in six months. You guys should be ashamed how you treat some people.

You should reserve ahead of time before going or you will be waiting even on a weeknight. Private tables available for reservation only. Drink menus in the bar area but if you know what you want just let the waiter know. Long wait for food. Huge portions enough to share. Waiter was courteous and knowledgeable. Waiter will box leftovers nicely for you.

This place gave my boyfriend and me food poisoning. They refunded our money yet aggressively argued that it wasn’t their food that made us sick, even though it was the only thing we ate. The pork was so spoiled that I immediately spit it out after taking one bite. I wish I ate the pork before I ate the rice, then I would’ve just thrown it all out. I’ll never come here again.

Visited Stockton for the first time in a long time and remembered how good Dave Wongs was in the past. Upon arrival there, we found the parking lot packed which is always a good sign. We ordered potstickers, chicken fried rice and lemon chicken. All of these dishes were delicious and served by the most polite and pleasant waitress weve ever met. We ate in the sports bar so we could watch some basketball games. Also it was packed in the main restaurant. We topped it off with a hot pot of tea and had plenty of leftovers to take home. If youre looking for some truly outstanding Chinese food, this is the place to go. It is clean and in the easy-to-reach location off March Lane and I-5. They also have a take-out deli, which is equally tasty. I thought the pricing was reasonable, given the quantity of food you get and the quality.

Dave Wongs has came back from being closed during the year of Covid, we miss this place. That being said service is busy but unorganized . Food is coming out the kitchen, its getting packed up, but sits on counter until they call you by phone while you wait in your car. Employees are so busy bumping in to each other getting orders ready that no one calls you to pick up food. My $50 meals was not hot nor exciting to eat. It was on counter not under hot lamps for who know how long after packed. I told my self I wouldnt return for a while do to upsetting circumstances . BUT....I went to grab lunch with a friend who insisted we go to wongs and I waited inside and made sure I ordered something not pre-made under lamps and it was delish. It came out fast,fresh,HOTT and was set aside for 2 mins I asked if my order was ready and she quickly turned around and handed us our meals. If I had waited in car for a phone call I would had the same incident. Dave Wongs aint hella cheap you want a quality meal for its price. Dave Wongs was not ready for all the anxious customers to hit their doors once they reopened. New challenges everyday. Today its a 3 star .

I think there are other good Chinese restaurants in town, and sometimes the waiters gave a bit of an attitude. You will never get a bad meal here....but you might get a better one elsewhere.

This is Stocktons finest.. Im from the Bay Area. Oakland and SF so I know good Chinese food. The food is ok..very small portions stuffed in aluminum tray. The kitchen help dont wear nets so watch out. Its like a factory in that kitchen. I never receive food thats freshly prepared..why I dont know. Money is green so there shouldnt be a problem. The deli used to be on Pershing & Yokuts. Always loved the food. But since it moved solely to the March Ln/I-5 location, quality & portion size have diminished. Went in for early dinner once, lunch twice on the weekends during my visit for work. Sat in the lounge area all three times. The bar is comfortable seating with big mirrors above the bar that are tilted so you can see whats going on in back of you. Nice booths in the lounge also.

Not sure why some website says this restaurant has vegan options. They dont even know what vegan is. I explained it to the waitress, but the cook staff still got it wrong and they had to make it again. It wasnt worth eating it when it came out because I didnt trust them to do it right. Then I told the guy up front about what happened, and he didnt even offer to take it off our bill.

Dave started as a waiter at On Locke Sams Restaurant which is still in downtown Stockton. He brought everything excellent about this wonderful restaurant to his own and at a northern, more convenient location! He learned his trade well! People also love their attractive and friendly bar. The spare ribs are must haves. Get them for an appetizer and enjoy! My favorite dish was probably the Mongolian beef but the lemon chicken was a pleasant surprise. Staff is very friendly as well
