Came in and was greeted by Jolene. Super nice and explained the menu, levels of hotness (no spice up to reaper), etc. We both ordered the #3 with cheese but with different heat levels. I opted for mild and did the fries. BF ordered medium and upgraded to cauliflower bites. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese.While we waited for our food we looked around. The place was clean, lively, colorful and inviting.Alan brought our food out and was just as friendly as Jolene. Our food came out hot. Just the right amount of spice. The chicken was crispy. This is a great place to get fried chicken. Even though it was a little pricey it was worth it.

One of the best chicken restaurants/fast food in the industry. Our family loves Canes and Chick-fil-A and we all agreed this was the best. I went with two piece without fries (mild and wished it was spicy). Chicken was tender and juicy. The texture, outside coating/batter, and temp was perfect. Lastly, if you think Thomas Keller’s chicken is the best, you might change your mind after having Dave’s. The chefs learned from Thomas and took it to the next level!!

I went to Dave’s Hot Chicken earlier this afternoon the food was absolutely delicious I ordered a slider combo with the fries and I was devouring every single bite their fries are amazingly seasoned and have so much flavor. The cashier which took my order greeted me with a smile, her name was Ruth, it was a warm day today so I asked her what milkshake she recommended me and she told me the Oreo one was one of their top selling items, IT WAS EXTREMELY DELICIOUS AND CREAMY!!! I dined inside the restaurant, it was nice and cool with AC, the tables are nicely spread apart so you don’t have to worry about listening to other customers and Ruth came up to my table and asked how everything was now THAT is what you call great service, you don’t have employees coming up to your tables in other dining places. I would like to thank Ruth for her amazing service… I WILL DEFINITELY be coming back soon.

As soon as I walked into Dave’s, I got welcomed by Ruth and she also took my order. She provided GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and made sure I got my order made correctly, pickles on the side because I don’t like pickles but my husband does lol. The coleslaw was fresh and tasted amazing.

My partner and I came in after a long day of driving and wanted to get a meal. We were low on money at the time after paying some bills and thought we could afford a meal for two. After my card declined we both walked out to discuss what we were going to take off the order. Then the lovely cashier came out and told us that she paid for the leftover charge for the meal. She was so sweat and caring. We plan to go back next weekend after we get our paychecks to give her the biggest tip. One act of kindness made our whole week.

I’m from Sacramento and am staying in SLO on vacation with my family. The Daves I went to in Sac was no where near as good as this one. Some of the best hot chicken I have had. The staff here are killing it to make a whole family sized order of food as good as it was and I highly recommend stopping by to try some of the food here. 4.9/5.

Out of towner review:Delicious hot chicken. I’m a bit of a spicy chicken nut and Dave’s slapped. Staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable.Two major issues I experienced that forced my hand to give four stars:1. The food took 20 minutes to receive. I was a walk in and to go order. Not a ton of people in front of me. Food took way too long to receive.2. I ordered a two slider meal, Reaper and Mild. They swapped the two, had them in the wrong boxes. If somebody didnt like spice and experienced that, they would not be in good shape. That is a liability issue too.Overall, I would 100% go back to Dave’s Hot Chicken. Enjoy!

It was ok. The reaper was not very spicy neither was the extra hot. We’ve tried the location in Indio CA as well as one in LA. Both locations were awesome! Just seemed very light on the heat. They even make sure you sign the reaper waiver. For us no waver should have been required. Overall the restaurant was nice inside and out. We’ll try again in a few. Give them time get the spice down.

I wanted to like them more after seeing their fun atmosphere and the origin story printed out by the soda machine. The mac-n-cheese was like cooked elbow noodles with a cheese sauce poured on top-more cafeteria like to me, but at least not kids kraft mac-n-cheese. The chicken itself would have tasted pretty amazing were it not for the thick coating of spice on the outside. It was like it was fried and then dipped back in the spice rub? It was overpowering and the bread from the slider helped to disguise it somewhat especially of you dip it in the sauce. The excess spice was too much for the chicken to spice ratio.

All it takes is one bad experience. Today, November 21, 2023, at Daves Hot Chicken, I waited over 20 minutes, watching people who ordered after me pick up their meals. This was after already waiting in line for 5 minutes. The cashier was very apologetic, mentioning that this delay was abnormal and that no one knew what was happening in the back. Despite being extremely polite, when I asked for a fountain drink on the house for the long wait, the manager, who was also the cook, refused. (I dont think they had one tonight.) This prompted me to ask for a refund. Had I received a medium fountain cup, which costs virtually nothing, I wouldnt have felt compelled to write this review. It was a terrible experience, prompting me to never return. I am now waiting for my refund.

I had the mild flavor and it was tasty and salt didnt overpower theflavor. My husband had hot andmedium and he preferred hot. Theslaw has a great taste! The picklestaste kosher and perfect crunch. This Daves is new in town so we thought wed try it. There wasnt a large selection to choose from, which was somewhat of a bummer. We did try both of the main options. I personally preferred the slider over the tenders... great toppings. The range of spice was great, we didnt try the spiciest option, but Im sure its extremely 🔥. No, its better to measure time in Before Daves, and After Daves.I had the pleasure of consuming Daves two days in a row at this location, and as soon as that hot, flavorful, crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, chicken kissed my lips and slipped into my gullet, I was a believer. First off can we talk about how excitable Andres was, he provided the BEST customer service experience we had during that day. He was thorough in his explanation. This was our first time there and we discussed what we wanted so I was just expecting to order and get my food but when we stepped up to the counter and he asked if it was our first time and started to give us a run down I didnt want to interrupt because I was enjoying listening to him.I got the reaper and whew its the culmination of ALL the spices. Havent had a chicken sandwich like that before I even had to sign a waiver for that sandwich. My hubby got the hot he loved it and it was soooooo good. I was very excited to try this new place out. I absolutely love chicken sandwiches. Well I was very disappointed. Portions are good. Fries are ok. I got the #3 slider with chicken tender on the side and extra hot for spice level. For someone that loves spicy food this wasn’t very spicy. It was extremely salty, way over seasoned. All I could taste was seasoning. Like a salt lick. I couldn’t eat much of it. My wife got hers with no spice and that was a bit better but no flavor. We also got a side of mac n cheese. Neither of us liked it. Tasted weird and was really runny. I had high hopes for this place but oh well.

TL:DR Highly recommended.Daves Chicken is definitely up there in amazing chicken sandwiches. Chicken is very tender and tastes great with the kale slaw they have in the sandwich. The fries are amazing along with Daves Sauce. This was my first time at this location and Alan the General Manager helped me. He was very friendly and even told me a brief history of the company. Elizabeth is literally the most amazing employee in any business that I have ever encountered. She is always so welcoming she knows all of her regulars and is literally what I need when I’m having a rough day. All tenders is what they serve here.Their Chicken Sliders are great and you get to choose your level of heat on the meats! Be sure to asked for extra special sauce.The tenders themselves has a nice flavor, juicy, and its hot to order. The bund are soft and has a hint of sweetness and its warm, which compliments the slider which is also the size of a regular burger!Their Mac&Cheese is horrible. Good chicken sandwich that was moist and tender. Good variety of different heat levels that you can mix and match to what youre in the mood for. Actual white meat chicken instead of a patty. The fries and Mac n cheese are good as well. If youre in the mood for a spicy chicken sandwich its a pretty good spot to satisfy your craving. It doesnt feel like fast food, as it does take time to make your order when you place it.

The staff was great, location clean and food arrived quickly. We ordered extra hot and reaper and signed the waiver. It seems like the waiver is more of a gimmick since it wasnt as much hot as it was... unpleasant. Reaper tested like the extra hot flavor but covered in cayenne pepper power so the texture was grainy and tasted a bit like dirt. On the other hand, the extra hot chicken had well blended seasoning that was actually tasty while delivering some heat. I would love to see them carry ranch as a side instead of the pink mayonnaise.

Very poor service, but great tasting sandwich. Big portions too.Regarding the service, I came in for my first time to try out the sandwiches and just walked away feeling kind of sad. I’m not trying to be mean, but while I was getting my order in, I couldn’t hear and understand the cashier very clearly. I apologized and asked if I could actually do “no cheese”, which she got very upset with me over by saying to me, “you told me yes” and shook her head the whole time while she tried to figure out how to cancel my order and start a new one on the iPad. She got more upset with me because she didn’t know how to cancel my order and I just felt a ton of pressure from her to say that it’s ok and that I’ll buy the cheese, until she asked another worker to help. After paying and deciding to leave a small tip for her trouble, I apologized again and she said nothing and handed me my receipt.I left sad, but I did enjoy my lunch back at the office. I’d probably go back just because the sandwiches are that good, but interacting with that cashier was very tough for me.

Once upon a time Panda Express had an item on their menu called Szechuan Chicken (Yes, this is a review for Daves chicken, but it requires buildup). The Szechuan chicken was my favorite item. Hands down. Period. And THEN Panda removed it from their menu. It felt like I had been served divorce papers by the love of my life. I emailed Panda corporate every day for weeks begging them to bring back the Szechuan chicken (true story) but those furry black and white bears paid me no heed and to this day the item has still not returned. I ordered online and picked up my food. I went in, got my order and went back home. When I opened up my bag, it was not my order, it was a door dash order and my ticket was on the outside. It was no big deal, but when I went back, the cashier got my order again, but my tamper proof seal sticker on my bag was broken. After I got my food, they took the food back and placed it right back on the shelf where all the door dash and pick up orders are placed. I do not think that this is very clean and I am also unsure if someone had grabbed my food and brought it back due to a mistake. This is an extremely unsanitary practice and please be sure that your food is sealed properly. They need to do something about this, who knows how many orders have been tampered with due to mistakes and people eating out of the food containers that didnt belong to them.
