Accidentally with my husband got into this cafe when walking. We decided to stop for breakfast, and did not regret it! Very friendly and pleasant staff, good menu selection, delicious food and good prices. Separately, praise the design of the cafe, creates a very cozy atmosphere!

Amazing breakfast! Hipster-like vibes with great music, friendly staff, and delicious food. Plenty of seating inside, and out on the patio for a decent sized group. My fiancé and I went on Saturday morning around 9 AM and it was just us, which was quite nice. We both ordered the vegan tofu scramble and vegan waffle- it did not disappoint! Overall, I would easily recommend this place to friends! Good job!

I had a great experience at the Den Cafe. Juaquin assisted me and provide exceptional customer service. He recommended I try this iced latte mocha with cinnamon and it was amazing. I ened up getting the waffles and they were very good. Great service with great food!!

This was a great place to have Sunday morning brunch. We came at 9:30 and it wasn’t too busy at all. The space is open and there are lots of seats. The coffees were perfect and the food was even better. Scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly.They offer fruit and salads as a side, which I appreciate. We loved it here, and we will be back!

One of my favorite brunch spots in downtown Santa Ana. Food is always top notch at the gypsy den. Great ambiance and amazing staff. Everything tastes really fresh and the place has a nice relaxed vibe. They also have a great mimosa deal for brunch if thats your thing. Highly recommend going here.

Love this place! The atmosphere is so unique and lovely. A perfect brunch spot or place to meet with friends for coffee or drinks. The service was excellent, super friendly and the food was great. Went on a Friday during performances by so many different singers! Super cool being able to see all of them play as I ate my waffles! Service is really good too! The waitress was super attentive and kept coming back to make sure we were okay. Loved the Mayan Coffee and Latte ♡The cafe is decorated so well, and I love the vibe at night when its all dark with lights!When entering, you grab your menu and sit down where you like. Then, the waiters come to take your order.

Very quaint and unique coffee house. The decor is eclectic and warm.The food menu has healthy options as well as comfort food and dessert. The carrot cake is excellent! The food choices are suitable for vegans as well.They have open mic nights on Monday and Thursday which is a nice touch while youre there having a meal or enjoying an adult beverage.The atmosphere is warm and inviting. They have patio seating as well.This is a great place to spend a couple of hours just hanging out and relaxing.

Husband and I shared the crossaint breakfast sandwich which came with a side of your choosing. We were filled with that and our champagne. Would recommend and definitely go again.

A casual spot in the middle of #dtsa offering an impressive selection of drinks and entrees in what could be best described as an oversized Victorian parlor. Im talking about dozens of framed prints, paintings, photos, bookcases, wooden tables of varying sizes, crystal-looking vases, gilded candleholders, and threadbare rugs. Its a double-height space in an old masonry building with plate-glass windows. There is a small patio off the promenade.Their cocktail menu goes beyond the obligatory Bloody Marys and endless mimosas. I had a Rosedrop martini made with vodka and rose syrup. It was small, but it packed a punch and was absolutely delicious! Those with a sweet tooth will love it. My friend had the Lavender Fields which featured Bulleit bourbon mixed with lavender and orange bitters. They gave it a thumbs up.Smoked Salmon Hash is now my new obsession. The potatoes were a nice size like dice without the snake eyes. They were crunchy, smoky, and grilled perfectly. A generous helping of peppers and onions was in the mix - all topped by a sunny-side-up egg. I ate the whole thing. No leftovers! My friend had the tuna melt. You could hear the crunch in every bite. It was a nice size and came with a small side salad.I must admit the drinks were a little pricey, but YOLO, amirite? Ill stick with beer or seltzer next time, but there will definitely be a next time!

Had breakfast there on Saturday with a group of 8. Got there early, immediately seating. Decent food and drinks, but service was horrible. Asked for napkin twice. Also wanted hot sauce which waiter with nose ring forgot, so I walked up to the bar to ask for it again. Normally I can understand if the place was busy. I cant help but think the place would be doing much better with some extra attention to details. that might bring in more customers. Fresh vegetables, well cooked bacon, and nice bread. I didnt have a chance to eat the salad portion of the meal, but everything looked on par to be as good as the sandwich.Three meals, two of which had special instructions, all came out as described on their site and instructions were followed. While looking for vegan options in Santa Ana I came across the Den Cafe. Their menu is NOT all vegan, but there are several vegan options. I got a breakfast with several substitutions (tofu scramble with veggie bacon, no sauce) and was not made to feel inconvenient for needing modifications.Also points for decorating. The interior space is super roomy and homey, and the little patio is a great spot too. I recommend!

While the food is good, I found the live band to be overwhelmingly loud in such a small venue. I do feel like I have lost some of my ability to hear after that. I also did not enjoy that the servers were all standing or sitting at the bar and ignored the table me and my friends were at for a solid chunk of time. Were almost left due to lack of service.When we did get our order taken it did take a little while but that is ok, it all tasted good and was unique. I have no problems with the kitchen. Our server changed a few times but at the end of the meal we had to get up and remind them to take our check so we could pay and leave.I would have had a great experience if it wasn’t for the too loud band and the poor service.

Great food and ambience, but be ready to wait for it. This place is ideal for catching up with an old friend over a long conversation, because the kitchen takes their time, even when its not particularly crowded. We had our engagement party here back in mid March 2020 and I cannot tell you enough how helpful all the staff was.There was a mixup with our original arrangement but Nicole was on top of it and gave me a call and we worked out the details.I’m posting this super late. Right after the engagement party as I had time to digest all the energy from the party COVID hit full on and anxieties and fears sky rocketed.But I am taking the time now to mention how wonderful our waitress was and how engaging everyone was. It was a big moment but all our guests left full and happy. The Den Cafe created a great atmosphere for us all and I’m just so happy with our decision to host the engagement party with you guys. My home is in Washington Square, only 1.5 miles from The Den. My family is blessed to be near The Den because The Den is a gem: Breakfast Croissant Sandwich, Breakfast Burrito, or Spinach and Bacon Scramble. Lunch may be the Bread Pudding French Toast, Vegan Berry Waffle or Adobe Stew that is excellent. The Den is unique in several ways: an Historic Renaissance vibe thats a reflection of healthy food, vegetable/vegan, culture, and renewal. My son and daughter-in-law enjoy the variety of healthy and creative dishes at The Den. And The Den reminds me of the Age of Exploration and the Renaissance. Im a retired first responder, educator, entrepreneur, & musician. The Den reminds me of traveling on a B & B budget for 6-monhs from the British Isles to Scandinavia, over the Alps to Italy, Spain, and the Greek Islands. The Den reminds me of the small cafes, culture, and folk music in Scotland and Ireland where I sang Celtic/Gaelic and American Folk Songs. Thank you for the memories. Scott Duncan

I absolutely love Gypsy Den and have been going here for over 8 years. I am so happy that they serve plenty of Vegan/Vegetarian items and now BRUNCH!! Staff is SUPER friendly and incredibly attentive. Favorite items of the moment are, Saucy vegan chicken burrito and the Vegan Cookie of the day, which happened to be a delicious cinnamon chocolate chip goodness yesterday. The adobe stew is a solid choice, too. Cant wait to try their cauliflower wings and vegan tostadas with cashew cheese. By the way, the turmeric rice inside the Saucy Burrito is pretty delicious. Friend suggested coming here on Sunday around 1pm after browsing around Patchworks (arts/crafts festival). We were seated quickly. The menu was very simple, had about 15 items, no pictures on menu, just words. I consulted with Yelp pictures and saw some tasty items, but didnt see them on the menu. When the waiter came back, I showed him the pictures from Yelp, but sadly he said that they got a new head chef with a new vision so the former items are not available.I ended up going with the Everything Bagel, which included tomatoes, some type of fish, bits of hardboil egg sprinkled throughout, light arugula, over some kind of sauce, all on an everything bagel. It was definitely tasty, but mine had a little bit too much sauce.I also tried the fries with pork belly over egg dish. It was definitely tasty, but heavy. I felt quite sluggish and thirsty after this meal.Service was great. Different staff members came by to check on us. They kept on apologizing for being backed-up and slow, but we didnt mind since we werent in a hurry.Interior decor is interesting in a good way. My friend and I were seated in the back so we had lots of privacy to catch up since most other tables are out in the open and noisier. I probably wouldnt come back again with lots of different options popping up around the area.

Absolutely shocked to see there was a 5-star review from the same day we were there. They must have gotten all the attention that we lacked. I felt somewhat bad for our server, but the food was ridiculously slow to come out, and then 2/3 of the orders were wrong. She made some accommodations to try to make up for it, but another order of the disgusting Avocado Toast didnt really cut it, and only refilling an iced tea once in 90 minutes is totally inexcusable. As for the Avocado Toast, I suppose I shouldve asked what kind of bread they used, but these days I would just expect a dish featuring toast would use a higher quality bread. Pretty sure this wasnt even Wonder bread, just a generic store brand white bread that was either stale or left sitting under a heat lamp too long. And the menu said it was served with asparagus. They probably only used one spear to make ten dishes, it was hardly worth a mention! My friends basic eggs, bacon, tator tots and toast were the orders that were wrong. They asked for scrambled eggs but got very runny sunny side up eggs that neither would eat. By the time their scrambled eggs came out, the rest of their dish was cold. The place has such a cool vibe, its just sad that they cant produce an edible meal in a timely fashion.

I just love that they support local artists and musicians here. I came one morning and saw the ladies red hat society. I came another morning and saw a man working on his book. I came another morning and caught a beautiful acoustic set during an open mic. The food and drinks are very good as well. I love their ice-blended concoctions. I definitely recommend if youd like a mellow outing with a great atmosphere for conversation (unless you come during a musical performance, then you can just sit back and enjoy).

Water was sparse and our coffee that served cold was refilled once with lukewarm coffee.I can’t remember the food being spectacular, I had an scramble that was good, my friend ordered a vegetarian dish and a side of fruit. The only gripe I heard from that was over the tiniest fruit plate I’ve ever come across.I’d say check it out if you’re walking by and can’t go on any further before you refuel. Get a made to order drink, and skip the coffee.

Expensive! we ate there last night and the menu was stamped vaguely with only 7 items to Choose from. one meal (the short rib) looked like it said $13 and when the meal came it was smallll. tasty but small. bill came and it was actually $18. we also ordered chai tea and an espresso both of which were only warm and not satisfying we asked to get it reheated but maybe thry cant do that because the solution was to give us hot milk to warm it but it still didnt get it hot and it deluted the flavors. my uncle and I each ordered an open face rye and smoked trout sandwich which they served to us on one plate to share. would have been awkward if he wasnt family. it was good but not $13 good. nobody was full or satisfied at the end. luckily next door had some free samples of their cooking school to fill us up a little more. I gave it a generous 3 stars because we have been there before when. they had a real menu with decent prices and large portions. hate how they changed.

The Gypsy Den is truly one of the many hot spots in Downtown Santa Ana. The restaurant is located on Broadway next door the previous (Memphis) and across the street from C4 Deli.The atmosphere is very artsy and has a cozy ambiance. It also has a rustic feel to it but its a great spot to enjoy some coffee, grab a bite or drink with some friends. I recently came to the Gypsy Den with a friend to have a cup of coffee and a quick snack. We both shared the Hummus & Pita & the Grilled Vegetarian Quesdilla. The hummus was excellent and the quesdilla was freshly full of flavor. Since I have a bit of sweet tooth, I also ordered the Caramel Latte. The latte was good, just a tad on the sweet side. On my next visit, I want to try the dinner menu.Gypsy Den also hosts special events during the week. For example, Mondays are open mic nights and live music on the weekends. If you are in DTSA, Gypsy Den has to be one of your stops. Fun place!

After having been away from OC for a while (more than 3 years), all I could think about was getting my hands on a bowl of their Adobe Stew ...omgs, its AMAZING (especially with extra cheese and chips) a large pirate chai, and some Gypsy Fries....so I went in, and to my shock, surprise, and absolute elation....THEY NOW HAVE A BAR!!!!.....So of course I had to try Every speciality cocktail on the menu (I suggest the Laced Gypsy, Vickys Blended Sangria, and Danis Purple Rain......yeah, I drank enough to make friends with most of the staff, and then came back and made friends with the rest of them) The ambiance makes it one of my favorite places in central OC, and its absolutely NOTHING like the douchey, hipster infested one at the LAB in Costa Mesa. The musicians that are there for open mic nights (Tues and Thursdays) are almost All amazing, and eventually Im confident I will find someone, or a band from the Friday shows, that I can get signed. The staff is AWESOME. They have a tarot reader there the 1st and 3rd Friday nights of the month, and sometimes on Saturdays. And there is almost always a live local band performing on Friday nights as well, or occasionally a couple of DJs playing some very interesting sets.If you have a sweet tooth, I absolutely suggest the creme brulee.The people who were complaining that the service can be slow....well, I cant say they are wrong per se, but it is an art house cafe called THE **GYPSY DEN**, if you want to go rushing about and stressing out, then this place is NOT for you. TGD is for sitting down, ENJOYING your cafe francais and creme brulee, listening to some music, gabbing with your friends, the staff, or the ballerina/punk rocker next to you for a bit, and then enjoying a (few) glass(s) of Vickys amazing sangria.So, go on a Friday night for a reading, live music, and really good cocktails. OR go on literally ANY idle afternoon for a creme brulee and a cafe au lait and just enjoy the ambiance. As long as youre not trying to rush, there is absolutely NO WAY these people could disappoint you. They rock. The (pescetarian) menu rocks. The bar rocks. The Reader Rocks.
