Restaurant has nice ambiance and a great menu. Decor was very cool. Menu items are very promising. Lot of good reviews all over social media.Food is OK. It was very bland and missing the flavors on most of the items. Blackened chicken tacos was missing seasoning. Naanza was okay...Drinks felt very watered down.Staff was very overwhelmed tonight. I needed to wait for a long time to checkout and leave.

I had the most incredible dining experience at Desi. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, creating a cozy and elegant ambiance.But the real highlight was the food. Every dish we ordered was a masterpiece. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. I particularly loved the Paneer Bowl; it was unlike anything Ive ever tasted, and I cant stop thinking about it.The service was outstanding as well. The decor of this place successfully reflects its cuisine. The pepper chicken was unnecessarily spicy, and could have been toned down, and the samosa chaat was bland. The lava cake with its chocolaty middle was perfect! Service was very quick, and the servers were attentive,and helpful.

They have great vegetarian options and the food is pretty good. The deconstructed samosas and paneer tikka masala are great but the portion sizes are pretty small for the price. Our naan was also very burnt. This is a casual sort of place but the service took way longer than it should. It took almost an hour between ordering and getting our food.

We went there very late on a Saturday and hoped the food would be good. It was excellent. Loved the decor of the place. Modern with a hint of indianness!Had golgappas, blackened chicken Tikka plate, dal makhni plate and chicken kathi kababThey were all yum and were made to be relished. The plates were a good size and so was the kathi kabab roll. Overall, loved it and would definitely go back to try the other dishes.

We came here for dinner, ordered gol gappe, Tikka chance on me, tacos, desi chicken bowl, pepper chicken w. Paratha. The appetizers were good but the entrees lacked a bit of flavor. Especially the desi chicken bowl. The chicken was surprisingly flavorless. The rice doesnt have any flavor either. The salad doesnt have any dressing so it was bland.My friend had chicken biryani and tacos they said their dishes were good. So I would recommend the appetizers dishes and chicken biryani.

This is casual dinning place. Came here based on recommendation from a friend. Would recommend a visit if you are in the neighborhood. The location is wonderful, right around downtown Campbell which is usually bustling with energy and joy. Taste a Chance (modified version of bruschetta) is worth exploring. Great ambience, place to stop by for some quick eats. We had Pani Poori, Chocolate Lava Cake, Chicken Pepper Curry with Paratha, Bhel Poori. The Lava Cake and Taste a Chance were great.

My experience resonates with that of most reviewers here. Service is really slow, kitchen backed up for up to 75 mins. They would forget about people’s orders. We observed this as soon as we got there so we just ended up ordering drinks and appetizers. Tried the 3 flights item on the menu called Tashan, less quantity for the price but good taste. Drinks we decent too. Want to try more items on the menu but not sure if I can wait that much for my food.

This place has a really nice modern yet casual vibe. The food is a delicious fusion of Indian flavors mixed with global influences. I loved the Tikka Chance on me. Their Gabru bar has amazing cocktails as well! Highly recommend their Fundoo Mule. The servers are super friendly too!

Amazing taste and nice presentation. Loved their take on desi dishes. Bites and appetizers are okay and felt let down. Entrees are really yummy and unique. There are a lot of vegetarian options on the menu. I might come back to try more. The price is not that crazy. If you are expecting a typical desi restaurant with a standard menu and portion sizes with extreme spices, you may not connect to the out of the box presentation they offer.One big let down is the service. We dined on a Friday night, and the restaurant was almost full. We got a table right away as we reserved in advance. We were hungry and wanted to order, but we had to wait a full 15 minutes before we gave up and started waving our hand to order something. As we overestimated the portion sizes we wanted to order more, again the same story, no one in sight for almost 10 minutes. QR code ordering didnt work either. I am hoping it is just an understaffing issue. Anyway, if service is improved, they can do wonders, especially in such a prime location. Rooting for this place!

I came here for the first time to try more contemporary Indian food. There was a good selection of foods that were presented very nicely. We sat at the bar so not sure how table service is. The food was good, the bar staff were nice and the whole place very clean, even the restrooms were particularly well kept.I like to see that we have now some choice for Indian food as thats been lacking in the area. I did like the contemporary twist on items but would have also like some regular fair as well.They had some good drinks too and bar seem to be quite well stocked.Update: I came back for brunch one Sunday. It was not busy when we got seated and served. It did not feel as welcoming as my last visit, especially since it was slow. I had to ask for the Sunday special menu which we were not given - but I had seen on their website. We ordered food and beer. The food was very well presented but it just tasted very mediocre. The chicken was soft, and not very flavorful. Deconstructed samosa was good albeit a little pricey. The fries were good … overall the food as regards taste was very average.The actual restaurant is very nice otherwise. I think a better time to come would be evening when it busier.

Went for a weekend dinner after reserving through Yelp. The place has got ample parking right in front. Got seated right away, and not at all crowded for a weekend. They have outdoor seating as well. The place has a cozy and dark ambience and is a great dinner place for a quiet get together. They do have a bar with great options.We ordered the Tashan, Blackened Chicken Tikka bowl, Dos bros tacos with amritsari fish, lamb galauti and rasmalai gajar halwa sandwich for dessert. Took a while for the order to come, and we had to wait a bit.Tashan (5/5) comes under flight of 3 vegetarian quick bites and it had the paneer tart, verde cutlet and curd rice poppers, 4 pieces each. The flavors aren’t strong but I loved the texture and the uniqueness. The paneer burji was small and not much to say. Verde cutlet was really good and curd rice popper seemed like eating fried curd rice with a bit of pickle.Blackened chicken tikka bowl (4/5) was also good. The saffron rice, chicken, salsa, veggies and pickle was all yum!Dos bros tacos (4/5) was filled with Amritsar fish in thin roti. There were three pieces and lots of filling. I loved the flavor of the fish, and there were other options like chicken, paneer and pulled jackfruit.Lamb galauti (5/5) was an unexpected addition to our order and what a superb dish it is! The lamb melt patty was rich, but again the flavor was not that high. But the patty along with the cream and pickles and the mini naan was a great treat! Well I see some latest reviews and I am a little surprised. May be it’s a timing thing. We decided to a have a very late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We actually arrived at around 3 PM. We got a table for 5, as expected the restaurant was empty. We ordered some cocktails, beer, starters and come large plates including Sarson ka saag and butter chicken. Everything was good. The staff was pleasant and they mixed some good cocktails as well. Nardeep the bartender, made some awesome drinks and Sriji was on top of things to ensure we had everything we need.. My favorite was Sambusa Trio: Chicken, Lamb, PotatoIt is an infusion American_Indian Casual Restaurant. The food is great and drinks are great too. Their bar menu called GABRU Bar, they have very innovative and amazing coktails: MC Sheer which is whiskey with saffron and it was awesome.I gave it 3 stars because of the service. It was slow and they didnt bring food for all party at the same time. However the manager was nice and offered us some complimentary appetizers.

Found this restaurant really interesting from outside and wanted to give it a try after looking at the menu! But unfortunately it was a disappointment! It was empty when we first entered, and probably with 5 other piece by the time we left! The food wasn’t great! It’s overly priced. Portions are too small and it’s not worth the money. The curries weren’t even enough for 1 person. The bowls are a good size, but on an overall rating - it was absolutely not something I was expecting! The starters are also hardly of enough quantity for the extreme pricing! Surely a good try if you wanna try some contemporary Indian fusion with ambiance - but not worth it!

Food is awesome but I will say the quantity is less according to price.. they have shortage of staff. Food was delish, but service was not. When we arrived, there was no FOH staff out. Eventually, someone came out of the kitchen and saw us waiting. He went back into the kitchen and proceeded to yell someones name several times for them to come out. We waited nearly an hour for our order at lunch time on a Friday. We were told at ordering that one of our dishes would take 20 mins, which was no problem. But then the waitress came out awhile later and said that dish was ready, but another dish was being held up for some reason, so we continued to wait....and wait. We were one of only 3 tables w diners, and a table that was seated after us got their food before us. There was also some sort of alarm near the front door that beeped loudly every 30 seconds or so for the duration of our lunch, which was unpleasant.

4 stars for food, 3.5 stars for service, 3 stars for cocktails. This new place has fun and trendy sounding dishes and cocktails but the drinks dont hold up. They were okay and a little watered down. They also forgot our starters completely and brought out entrees. The food was good and flavorful. Id get it spicy next time. We have vegan dishes and they were tasty. Incredible place! I went here with my partner and we loved the incredible care that the staff put into making our experience better and it felt like we had almost TOO MUCH food which was great and I loved the chalupa tacos with the great naan and fillings and the milkshake was great. The mango dessert at the end was quite unique with the vermicelli and fish eggs as well. I also had the seasonal sea bass which was pretty unique with the coconut curry and overall I was so full at the end.

Indian contemporary food sounds tempting!Ambience is great and gives the feel consistent with the theme of the restaurant. Coming to the main agenda, dishes are named uniquely and also presented well.However that is where the great things come to an end sadly. I wish I could rave about it, but not.Appetizers1. Gol Gappe - comes with 3 flavor of waters but lacks flavors by a mile.2. Poor Service. Main course was decent. Dessert and tea was good. When we first entered the waiter didn’t even bother to ask if we wanted dine in or take to go. Usually in a dine in we pay after eating. I was planning to take to go also. I was just having my tea and there the waiter appeared with the bill. We went to the restaurant today and we ordered the verde cutlets, bun maska and chai and paneer kathi roll with salad. I loved all the items specially the Verde Cutlets. The idea of serving these cutlets with hummus was just fab. It was tasty and healthy at the same time. And the pink sauce they served with it also added to the taste. The Kathi roll was also great, the paneer sauce that they had inside the roll was very tasty and the roll wasn’t oily either. Overall, I was super happy with the food and the service and the prices made justice to the quality of the food. I’m definitely going to visit this restaurant back!

Fresh and exciting perspective and must visit restaurant in Campbell Downtown. This was my third time. Great Cocktails from Gabru Bar at desi with its street eat flights. Hospitable and quick service. There’s definitely potential for this place. They really tried to create a unique twist on Indian cuisine. The drinks were really good, however the food def needs improvement. All of the food came out luke warm, we asked for the chai to be brought out first, but the waiter ignored our request, the gulab jamun creme brulee was not properly made. Crème brulee is a custard made with eggs and needs to be properly cooked, this one was not and I now have excruciating pain in my stomach that won’t go away. Don’t order this if you don’t eat raw eggs. Towards the end the hostess came over and asked abt our experience since we were 1st time customers, hopefully they make some changes

This was our second event at Desi. We threw our wedding after party ( cocktail party for ~50 guests) at Desi and it was absolutely lit. The fusion food and cocktails were excellent, all the guests loved it, everyone was talking about the verde cutlet and the desserts. The manager helped us through our party planning process. We actually needed to reschedule the event date due to some emergency circumstances, and the owners/ managers were very understanding. We also felt that the rates were reasonable. The ambience was perfect for our event. I would surely recommend desi for any event if the guest count is ~50-60.

I would give a 4 star for food but service is really slow. Our first snack plate came 45 mins after ordering. For a fine dine grade, I would expect a better service. The waiter for our table was overloaded (I guess) and she didnt bother to drop by to ask if we needed anything. Lacked attention to detail and table was never cleaned up to make room for more foodWe tried Tashan plate with panner bhurji tarts, gujia empanada and Verde cutlets. Cutlets were really good and so did empanadas. Kids Nanza was also yummy with Tikka sauce (stole a bite from my kid 😋). We ordered butter chicken kulcha chalupa tacos, lamb galauti and tikka chance on me (paneer tikka).We had to wait more than 30 mins just to receive these 3 items and it was not even a rush hour. Having to wait for so long just for 2 appetizers and 1 quick bite is ridiculous.There are far more better Indian food options in Bay Area. The food at desi was bland, no flavor. My husband and I were pleased with the taste of the food items we ordered. The food had the right amount of spices with well balanced flavors. We took the paneer burji tarts, Verde cutlets, curd rice poppers for starters and the Desi sliders with samosa and pindi chole kulcha tacos from the quick bites section. For drinks we had the cal indo shake and saffron thandai. All the items were enjoyable, but my personal favorites were the cutlets, kulcha tacos and the cal indo shake. Ambience was simple and clean. Ordered the pani puri, pav bhaji cornetti, pindi chole tacos, samosa sliders and the dal makhani w/ sourdough naan.Location - The location is good with decent parking. They have patio seating as well.Food - Overall positive. However, some items could have been better. Pav Bhaji Cornetti looked great, taste was below average, definitely lacked spice. Pindi Chole tacos also looked great, taste was average. My recent experience here was disappointing. The table setup was inconvenient, the servers constantly passed by with dirty dishes and service was also neglected. We found the portion sizes small for the price, and the food quality didnt match what the menu promises. Unfortunately, my husband and I fell ill afterward, and that raised concerns about hygiene and quality of the ingredients used here. We wont be returning or recommending this place.

Great new Indian restaurant in Campbell. There aren’t many Indian places here so I was really excited about this place and they are actually really good. They aren’t authentic in terms of the menu items but the taste is pretty authentic. I had been there right after they opened and had a few qualms about their food but when I went the second time they had corrected all of it. We even got to talk to the owner who was looking for some feedback which is very important for a new restaurant. They have good vegetarian options and starters.

We ordered Fries but unfortunately that was served late - well after we had finished the kathi roll. And they did not come with any sauce. Evidently they serve mint Chutney with it, but did not have it, so we had to make do with ketchup.All in all, we felt that while they had a great vision and spot-on flavors, they need to get their service and pricing -to-value provided aspects improved to really make it. The sauce was the best, and chicken was tasty. The rice I had at other Indian restaurants had more of a yellowy color to it with bits of spice. On the other hand, the rice here tasted plain (like basic steamed rice) even though the menu said safron/spinach rice. And for around $20, the portion didnt fill me up. Half of what was in the bowl was just fluffy salad with strong vinegar taste. My wife ordered IMPOSSIBLE CURRY - (vegetarian), and it tasted alright, not that flavorful as youd expect from Indian food. Overall, the food at Desi Contemporary was good. The service and atmosphere were not.My main complaint is that one is required to scan a QR code and use their website to order when sitting at a table for dine-in. In general this is annoying, but the particular implementation of this system at Desi Contemporary is atrocious.To start with, one is immediately presented with an ad when going to the website defined by the QR code. This obscures the actual menu and ordering options. Once one clears this hurdle, one can begin to order online - passable. But when it comes time to check out, there is no clear option for dine-in. Rather, one is given the option of delivery or pickup. Within these options, its not possible to choose ones table number. Customers have to put their table number in the notes section.Even worse, one doesnt get a receipt when paying this way unless one asks the staff.So, overall the food was good. The service and ordering system are abysmal - I strongly recommend against dining in until this system is removed and actual table service is present.

I came to this promising new Indian restaurant for lunch around 1pm during their soft open.Staff was very friendly and the dining area was nicely decorated.Music was playing a little loud, and some equipment was beeping loudly every 10 seconds non-stop; very annoying. Please fix.This is a contemporary menu - not traditional. So youll find interesting things like tacos, guacamole, quinoa, and fresh veggies on the menu.I ordered DIY, where you choose a main dish, rice, veggies, and dips for $14. This seemed to be the most affordable lunch meal item. It was tasty and fresh. Side sauces were very flavorful.I was really hoping to find a simple, affordable weekday lunch special having dal, rice and curry of choice for around $9. At $14, cost is $19 minimum with tax and tip. At this price point, I wont be able to come as often as Id like.I recommend you give it a try. Its great to have more options near downtown.

We visited during the soft opening and the experience was fairly ok. Desi has a great location close to Campbell downtown with a contemporary Indian vibe to match. The appetizers were tasty and very well plated. The staff was very friendly and nice. We did feel that the place still needs a few practice runs before its ready for prime time. We ordered an item and learnt much later that it wasnt available. The paav bhaaji tasted like Indian buffet food. The fish tacos were served in small naans instead of taco shells and were very soggy. In addition they lacked flavor and were quite bland (fried fish in a naan bread). Given the soft opening i would be willing to give them another chance and am really hoping that theyll be able to shine next time around. I believe this place has the potential to be a marquee indian restaurant in the south bay, but only time will tell

Indian fusion is hard to do. They came pretty close to doing it right. The dishes were mostly prepared in Indian style but served with a twist- and that twist is good for trying out once. Where they missed the mark- one, they insist on serving the dishes as described (bowl in our case) with no option to serve the paneer on the side. Two- that lonely star of vegetarians- paneer was terribly chewy. And three- the sauce/ketchup (pictured) left red stains on the fingers! The reason they got the three stars instead of two- a reasonable kaanji.

Happy hour is awesome for a good deal on drinks ($8) and select food items. Highly recommend this place! We stumbled across Desi in Campbell and the menu caught our eyes. We are so glad we tried it! Their street food, appetizers and wraps are yummy. We loved it so much we catered their food for my birthday few weeks back and our friends loved the food too. Especially their appetizers and drinks - Huge Hit! They have some unique drinks, it’s most likely their best offering!Apart from food, 5 star for their staff as well. I worked with Archana for catering order she made sure everything was done well And followed up next day. Their packing for food was excellent, I don’t think any Bay Area restaurants can match their customer service and attention to detail on food/drink packaging. The food tasted good but the portions were very small. We are not used to paying $17 for 3 samosas and the lamb samosa was half the size of the potato. And who serves a main course of butter chicken with no rice? Its just about one cup of butter chicken, a tiny sad salad, and one piece of naan for $$. We asked to sit outside and were told that they couldnt give us a table because they dont want to clean it so we could sit inside if we wanted. My boyfriend bussed the table for us 🤣 And while we were waiting for the check. Someone sat in a chair and it collapsed underneath them. It was shocking. The server said its happened three times before. We had been looking forward to trying this place. The whole time we were there we couldnt wait to leave. We wont be back. We do not take feedbacks, should be their highlights in advertising. Specially the kitchen manager. We were party of 8 with all having the same opinion on various dishes but the kitchen manager or chef took it very unsportingly. The owner was trying to be helpful, but looks like the full staff incharge does not have the same policy. I wonder the restaurant was empty on a Saturday evening, all the other restaurants around there were packed with people. Decor is good, the bartender and server was good. But the person at the end ruined it all to the next level. Main course needs a lot of attention, tandoor items need some attention. Service of staff facing the customers need training the kitchen manager or chef who ever he was in particular. A friend who recommended this place, has been there twice in the past was a part of our group also agrees to everything i have mentioned above. Try the frys and drinks if you really want to visit this place.

Amazing food in a warm family-owned business. They have so many inventive things on the menu, and everything is always super fresh. Their naan is awesome…we can never decide between garlic and habanero cheese, so we get both. Their homemade sauces are also very tasty. We mostly order takeout now with the pandemic, but the inside of the restaurant is very cute and modern. I’m so happy to have this Indian restaurant in our neighborhood and wish them many years of success!Please try to be understanding if any restaurants have slow service during this time, it’s incredibly hard to hire and retain restaurant staff at the moment. When we have dined in, we’ve always had very good service here, including during their opening week.

Ordered chicken biryani which came cold straight from the refrigerator. Didn’t expect to be served cold food for $20! Simply asked them to warm up the food at least which they did by adding some white rice and probably warming up in a pan.Kadai chicken was fine but my kids found it spicy and finished all water. Asked twice for water refills but servers did not serve any. Ended up going in and asking for water by the bar. Uniquely Original fare that tastes good! We love the menu and variety. Everything, right from decor to menu to taste of food, feels unique. The owners have put a lot of effort into curating all of it to make sure its just not another Indian restaurant in your block. I love the bowls, the gulauti kabob, the samosas..and Pehla Nasha(cocktail).. to name a few. Parking is easy, has plenty of outdoor heated space. Celebrated a birthday here with friends and family recently. Desi proved to be totally the right choice in every single way . The food and drinks were fantastic! Desi has a very interesting menu of tastefully reimagined contemporary Indian food and drinks. We tried them all :) and they were all awesome. From the small bites to the dessert course everything was so delicious. Modern Indian food combines with excellent presentation and friendly service for an excellent offering. Dishes are large with lots of vegetables, drinks are excellent and large as well. Desi is comparable to modern places like Rasa or what Dosa used to be in San Francisco but without the Michelin aspirations. The decor is reminiscent of Curry Up Now hence the complaints about price. This is definitely not fast casual but not white tablecloth either. Its definitely a bring the kids, bring the grandparents place. Both indoor and outdoor seating are good. There is a premium on taste and presentation. I couldnt quite say what region of India. Somewhere in the north though.

Let me be clear, while I’m giving this restaurant 2 stars, it’s purely for their food.We arrived at 6:45pm to eat outside and the “host” was confused about our reservation but ended up sitting us outside like we asked at the most uncomfortable table I’ve ever sat at. The chairs were so low and there was no leg room plus the table was too high for how low we were sitting-this was the least of our worries. Someone brought us waters quickly and then 5-10 minutes later we were greeted and ordered our drinks and food but the server didn’t write anything down. We decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she has a good memory. 10 min later she came back with another person who had an iPad to confirm our order. We had to correct a couple mistakes but no big deal.Our drinks came and they gave me the wrong order but because I could already tell this was going to be a train wreck I just drank what they gave me-I found out this was a smart decision. We then we’re served an incorrect order which the server insisted that we ordered and made it seem like our fault for the mistake. I tried to be gracious and ask them to use the paneer from the incorrect dish and just put the tikka sauce on top but they took it back and we wouldn’t see them again for a while. This mistake was corrected 30 min later by a luke warm paneer tikka and served by itself in a tiny pan, without the naan, biryani or my husbands order. We did receive these other items about 30-40 minutes later after repeatedly asking servers and the manager when our food was coming out. All who never got back to us on the status of our order or cared to get us anything in the meantime while we waited…and waited. We were here for 2 hours by the time all our food came out. No one came to our table to apologize about the wait, ask if we wanted anymore drinks (our cups were empty for a while) or come to see how anything was going even though our food was taking ages to arrive.Unfortunately, it just seems like this place is understaffed and extremely under trained/disorganized. Despite our horrible experience, we remained patient and kind to the staff because we knew this was likely not their fault and still tipped them well all things considered. We will not be returning here.

Believe the negative reviews!My husband and I prefer bland Indian food. Can’t eat spicy foods, like at all. But we do enjoy good Indian flavors. When a few reviewers mentioned here that the food was bland, we thought maybe this is the place for us. Were we mistaken! The food was outright tasteless.Yogurt rice balls were basically five 1” balls of hard dry deep fried rice. The dal makhani tasted like warm butter. And the gol gappe were unbelievably sweet. Like sweeter than your typical dessert sweet. In all honesty though, the naan was pretty good.I don’t care much about price if the food is good. For much smaller portion sizes, the prices here are similar to eating at Taj Campton Place cafe in SF. Absolutely not worth it!
