First time coming to this restaurant, was purposely looking for Uyghur cuisine. One note here: the first Dolan’s that comes up will lead you to the Roland Heights location, so make sure you know where you are headed to.The food here is really good. I loved the goshnaan, a must have. The yogurt desert is really good after a heavy meal.

My favorite Big Plate Chicken in LA, stir-fire chicken with potato, onion and fresh bell peppers. Always remember to order an extra noodle, their handmade noodle was really good, with flavorful spicy sauce, you can never have enough of it. I recommend bone-in chicken, the chicken was so tender and was easily separate with bone.And the other must have item was their Lamb, I cant not choose from boiled lamb or lamb soup, both of them were sooo good, I usually depends on the weather or my appetite.This is a very authentic Uyghur cuisine, they have other delicious dishes and I just mentioned my top 2.

Why have not been here before? I highly recommend everything.We ordered:- Chicken plate - amazing flavor, chicken was tender, potatoes were soft (but not super tender). Veggies were still nice and crunchy. The sauce, I want it on everything. We got it bone-in as I find this options in most situation to be more juicy (and dark meat).- Northwest rice noodle - a good spice kick, mix of veggies and beef were great. It satisfied my tasted buds.- Uyghur Goshaan - amazingly flaky and stuffed to the brim. It was great, until I dunked it into the chicken plate sauce and it became magical. Highly recommend the comboFor dessert we ordered honey cake and baklava; they were good, on sweeter side. A great way to end the meal.As to drink - the hot Uyghur Milk Tea was not my type of team as it was salty. My partner greatly enjoyed it though as it reminded her of Taiwan.

Everything was amazing!! The staff was pleasant and friendly. Definitely some of the best Uyghur food we have had in America. The spicy noodles with beef was very flavorful and handmade noodles perfect, firm not dry or too doughy. The diced noodles with beef was mild and perfectly cooked as well. The samsa was flaky and tasty for an appetizer, while the naan bread was delicious to soak up the amazing flavors left on the plate. There was enough food on each plate to split if you didnt want to try several different foods. We absolutely will return!!Update, we returned and found all dishes amazing. Absolutely consistent and quality. Tonight, we had pearl noodles and Big Plate Chicken. Such a fusion of flavors dancing on our tongue, so delicious. We recommend the special tea, it is calming and delightful. A++

Tried Uyghur food for the first time here with a few friends. Overall a great dining experience. Nice, clean interior and friendly staff. The fried naan was pretty good—almost like spiced croutons. Dumplings were solid too but the noodles were our favorite dish by far—very flavorful and fresh. I tried the Uyghur milk tea and really disliked it—way too salty. But a lot of other menu items look pretty promising. Prices were okay overall. Would definitely come back.

Ordered Big Plate Chicken (Small), Tiger Salad, and Lamb Kebabs. The Big Plate Chicken (small) will definitely be enough for 2-3 people. Its quite large already with lots of chicken. The noodles are a tasty consistency flavored by the spices from the sauce. The chicken was soft to the bite and leaves a good after kick from the spice. The tiger salad was a great medley of onions, peppers, tomatoes, and garlic. Its crunchy, refreshing, and has a toned down spice kick to it. The Lamb Kebabs are a minimum order of 3 and theyre very good. They strike a good balance between chewy and tender. Very juicy and the spice is more of a pepper spice than chili flake spice. Tiger Salad is definitely a great side dish here and Id recommend the others too or exploring more with the other menu items. Again, everything we ordered was somewhat spicy but pleasant. Service was efficient and very kind. The business did get packed by dinnertime, but parking space is adequate.

One of my favorite places around LA. To me, Uyghur cuisine is like a sweet spot between Turkish and Chinese.Excellent meat options like Tower Kebab (they dont need a 1 hour notice, that information on the menu is not true) and Uyghur Kebab, or if you are feeling like chicken, the Boneless Chicken Plate can be preferred. Uyghur Naan, Manti, and Fried Naan with Beef are good picks to order and split with your friends as side dishes.Dont forget to finish your lovely dinner with their baklava, and as a Turkish I can confirm that their baklava is good.And most importantly, wash it all down throughout your dinner with Dolans Special Tea.

This is a rare find in terms of Asian food.Uyghur food is similar to authentic Mongolian food (my ethnic background) but it is better spiced for the American palate. This restaurant serves up an excellent variety of traditional dishes and I ate until I could not fit another grain of rice. We had-lamb skewers (incredibly flavorful)-lamb polo (classic Uyghur fare)-vegetarian korma chop (chewey with a nice kick)-Uyghur naan with Uyghur salad (good appetizer combo)-the special tea (worth a refill!)If you have some money to splurge, I recommend trying a bit of everything like we did. You gain an appreciation for the wonderful variety of tastes from this culture.

Many traditional Uyghur dishes to choose from. Some of them are different from the local versions in Xinjiang (e.g., the samosa) but they all taste good. The female server is extremely friendly. Portions are a bit on the small side though.

(Via Eat the World Los Angeles) - Dolans has now been around for almost four years in Alhambra, but seems to be getting better and better as time passes. The San Gabriel Valley and everyone nearby is so fortunate that the relatively new restaurant survived the pandemic and has come out on the other side even stronger. The foods of Central Asia are not something that Los Angeles and nearby counties are blessed with much of, so Dolans endurance in the future is something to be tended very carefully.

The big plate chicken noodles are the star of the show, flavorful and house made noodle dough (machine pressed) was a perfect chewiness. The eggplant also savory and pull apart soft. The lamb skewers possibly a little overcooked to medium but hot off the grill with a spice mix thatll have you asking for more. The Dolan special tea is a spiced must get. The manta dumplings are like kafta mixed meat in a thin soup dumpling wrapping, yum. Certainly a must visit if youre looking for Uyghur food

Google Uyghur. Okay, first off I gotta say how amazingly good the noodles were. Wow. Havent had a noodle that good in a long time. Its perfectly made, perfectly chewy, and perfectly cooked. The lagman noodles were great. Loved the beef and veggies. The Manti were really good too, really liked the peppery beef and onion filling. And the cucumbers were great too, nice garlic flavor, not overly seasoned. They were the perfect refreshing side to the other dishes. Definitely want to go back and try more things.

This place was amazing on so many levels! I used to live in Xinjiang and ate this kind of food every day, and since I left I haven’t had anything like it. Dolan’s dishes are not only authentic but made very high quality with the quality ingredients and cooking process. I tried the goshnaan, laghman, polo, and lamb kebabs, as well as the special tea. The space is very open, not too loud, a great ambiance, and there is plenty of parking. If I lived close by I would come often. This is a very special cuisine that the world should know more about!

Authentic Uyghur food in SGV. Came here on a Sunday for lunch in a group of three, and we were all excited to eat some noodles. Free parking is available in the lot in front of the restaurant (note that the lot in the back is for the adjacent Noodle World). Credit cards are accepted. Indoor and patio dining was available. Two single occupant bathrooms are available. No alcohol. There were a couple of larger tables for big groups.Food wise, everything we ordered was delicious. The spicy noodles were my favorite, as the noodles are thick and chewy, and came with a generous amount of bell peppers and onions. It had a hint of spice and you can get it with or without beef. The goshnaan reminded me of a minced meat pie but with more aromatic spices. It came cut in 6 pieces. The manta came with the same meat filling as the goshnaan and are your standard boiled dumpling. We also got a pot of the special tea, which tasted floral and was a nice accompaniment to the meal. Note that it was served in paper cups so be careful because it is served piping hot.Overall, I really liked the food and would be back to try more Uyghur food (with some noodles of course).

Lets talk about itWhat we ate• Big Plate Chicken | bone in. They offer boneless chicken but bone-in tastes so much better. AND YES!, theres a difference. It says spicy but it wasnt. Its very doable. Underneath all the chicken, potatoes, and green onions, theres a bed of thick flat noodles swimming in their sauce. The noodles taste like wonton texture.• Braised Eggplant | Anything eggplant, I am getting it. Tasted so good! The flavors are different from what I am used to when ordering at a Chinese restaurant. Both cuisines are amazingly good.• Manta | Steamed dumplings filled with beef. Oddly, it tasted like lamb. Still good though. Add their sauce with chili oil to make the taste complete. The waitress mentioned it was good with their yogurt sauce. I didnt hate it but didnt like it either. Prefer without that.• Quyash Qatlima | beautifully made crispy pie, stuffed with ground beef, capsicum, and mozzarella. This was given with sour cream and that went well together. Including some chili oil as well. I could eat this up.• Dolans Tower Kebab | not pictured. Roasted lamb slices. We were told the lamb kebab tasted better because it is more fatty but, I do not regret what I got. While it did look dry, it definitely did a good job not making it dry. If you like Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Persian, Turkish, or Russian/Georgian flavors, then you will undoubtedly find this place a real winner on all counts.Dolans perfectly captures the artisanal, handmade noodle tradition, combining it with hearty, halal options, from chicken to lamb. There are also plenty of salad and soup choices for those wanting to preserve a KETO-friendly, low-carb, and/or vegetarian/vegan diet. First time visiting. The spicy fried noodles with beef are delicious, I did expect the serving to be a bit bigger for the price, and maybe a little more beef, but it is very tasty. Not really spicy just good flavor. The Goshnaan was also very flavorful. The Manta was not as flavorful as I expected but still good, definitely pour a bit of vinegar. The young lady was very nice.

Pleasant food adventure at the newly opened uyghur restaurant Dolans in Alhambra. Overall services was very friendly and attentive, recommendations from our waiter were all delicious. Ground beef soup was refreshing, juicy Manta dumpling, spicy yet addictive big plate chicken, and our favorite was the Samsa (baked bao). Definitely will go back to try more different dishes.

I think this one open recently. What I post here are very delicious. Still need to go more times to explore other items. The milk remind me of my childhood memory when my father brought back the dried milk from Inner Mongolia every summer. Nice salty milk. I wish I will have the chance to try the $468 whole lamb kebab. We got the boneless big plate chicken, fried noodles, dumplings and lamb kabob skewers. The big plate plate chicken was definitely big, and meant to be a shared plate! It very flavourful and spicy, we absolutely loves it but might be too spicy for children or those who are not used spicy food. The fried noodles and lamb skewers were delicious! I believe the noodles are handmade so definitely a unique texture! The dumplings were very unique as well, strong cumin flavour, unlike any other East asian dumplings. Overall, cant wait to go back!

This place didnt disappoint!My only complaint was there wasnt enough beef in the Fried Naan with Beef.Dolans Special Tea was heaven. Not sure what kind of tea it was but there rose flowers and honey in it. It was more than enough for two people.The Laghman was surprisingly tasty. The sauce had a smoky and sour flavor on top of savory and the hand-made noodles were perfectly chewy.The Samsa had layers of flaky pastry and the filling was heavenly.The Manta dough was just the perfect thickness and the filling complemented well.The lamb kebab was not over-spiced and was tender.There was music playing in the background (a mix of Uyghur & Uzbek) which set the ambience. The lighting inside couldnt been better (I dont like white lighting and TVs in restaurants).I especially like the decorations and furniture - made me feel like I was in a restaurant somewhere in Xinjiang.Over all, I would definitely come back here again, highly recommended.

Dolan’s was spectacular! We went with some friends and had an excellent time! There was a group sitting place outdoors, so COVID friendly. The food and service were exceptional—even for a Saturday night. No waits, no long delays. And the menu wasn’t abbreviated.Fried Naan was a little much with the rub they used but the Lamb skewers changed our lives. So good. So tender. The bone-in chicken was superb, as well. And on a nice, chilly night we enjoyed their “special tea.” Absolutely would return.

I regret to say that my visit to the Uyghur restaurant was a disappointment. The food lacked the authenticity and flavor that I was hoping for. It seemed like they had cut corners and compromised on the traditional preparation methods. The service was lackluster, and the staff appeared disinterested in providing a pleasant dining experience. I had higher expectations for an Uyghur restaurant, but unfortunately, this one fell short. I wont be returning, and I suggest exploring other options if youre looking for an authentic Uyghur culinary experience.

TOP Place to enjoy original Laghman😍😋! Highly recommend! My boyfriend and I visit Dolans Uyghur Cuisine very often and everything weve gotten here is sooooo delicious! The food quality is amazing, cozy and authentic atmosphere, all dishes are traditionally made with LOVE! By the way, they serve the BEST Langhman in California! Food was just Eatable.The Samsa in picture taste nothing like the one I tried in Xinjiang/Uyghur. Cold noodle was soggy, supposed to be all dente/ chewy.We tried different Uyghur food in California. I wont say this place has authentic Uyghur food.FYI search San Jose Uyghur and you can tell the difference.I saw a lot of POSITIVE feedback about their service, which wasnt happen to me.The skinny young waiter at this place provide the worst service I ever had. Their food is dreamy... dreamy as in perfection of flavors. We shared three dishes with my hubby and hands down some of the best food Ive ever had. I cant even begin to explain how delicious it is. The best way would be a combination of spices, some robust, some mild, coming together to take your mouth on a journey to places its never been and cant wait to return to. If you havent tried Uyghur Cuisine youre missing out. Dolans on the corner of Valley and 9th in Alhambra is the best Ive sampled. The lamb kebabs could be savored by a toothless man, the cumin beef, celery and black mushroom, hand pulled noodles were all perfectly executed subtle but with just enough spice. The tea (get the special) was flavorful and aromatic, naturally sweet from the cardamom and cinnamon. Comes in a generous pot. It was beautiful with the yogurt with honey, nuts, and raisins for desert. Ambiance was lovely, with live musicians playing traditional instruments.... waiters are friendly, helpful, in the background, and very efficient. Plenty of free parking in the back. Cant believe you can eat food this good without waiting. Just go.

The best lagman and manty i had in west coast so far.Especially fried version of it is a game changer, not too spicy, not too greasy. And a small plate of the boneless chicken plate is just huge, I would say it’s more than enough for 2 people and I would suggest get extra noodles with it since it has a lot of sauce and they don’t offer a bread. It’s our second time visiting LA and we keep coming back to this place to have a delicious dinner with no doubts.I didn’t like only one thing, they tend to skip phone calls, I wanted to place to go order couple times but they just ignored incoming calls. I kept calling while driving but had no luck. So beside driving 35min to there I had to place an order on the spot and wait another 20 mins, which could’ve been avoided if they would be more responsive.

We decided to dine family style to try all we could. Honey cake is delicious and dryer than most American style cakes so get some tea if you choose this dessert. Mmmm... I will be recommending this highly to my friends because the food was so good.The service the night I went were two waiters who also bussed and hosted. Food arrives piping hot and steamy, but we had a mixup where we were given a beef noodle instead of vegan. I ordered laghman noodles with beef wasnt edible, cause was cold as well for other one with spicy beef. Overall was pricy bc they served too much noodles along with tiny pieces of beef and veggies. Beside that I ordered the skewers of lamb was little bit salty, and steamed dumplings called manta was fine, but I will not recommend it to anyone .

Barely edible food, mediocre service. Kebab was so dry and burnt I thought I was in Sahara desert. Not quite authentic. Definitely spent too much time on propagating politics than enhancing food quality.

I expected to be better...Lamb kabob (served in a very long skewer stick! Min 3 -skewer to order) is tender. Meat our company s tasty, but the most famous Big Plate Chicken was a let down. My friend doesnt eat spicy version, so they offered less spicy option...De-bone chicken...It was deep fried chicken mixed with sauce and potatos. Chicken was dry w/not so much of flavors what so ever. I had much better ones.Food here is not cheap.

This was my first time eating Xinjian Uyghur food, which I have never heard of until just recently. From what I heard, Dolans is only one of two places in LA that serves this cuisine. My experience here was quite memorable. First off, the ambience is really interesting. A lovely restaurant that has a Middle Eastern style to it, which is fascinating to see in the San Gabriel area. Second, the food: it was very good. I loved everything, especially their noodles, which are chewy and housemade. I think this was definitely the standout here, which I got with the Big Plate Chicken and the Laghman. The lamb kebabs were also some of the best lamb skewers Ive had and I didnt have that gamey weird taste that characterizes American lamb. Along with that I also had the samsa, which are their little meat pies with ground beef and onions that was kind of like empanadas, which were made fresh in the restaurant.I would definitely go back here again. Again, the food was flavorful and fresh, and the spices are quite authentic. Hands down, some of the best food Ive had in months. Theres a quintessential flavor from traditional Uyghur cuisine that is rarely explored in American culinary circles. Everybody is a food critic of the web, but not all the food is worthy of criticism. Dolans food is exemplary.

Dolans Uyghur Cuisine recently opened, offering dishes resembling what youd find at a Mediterranean restaurant or northern Chinese restaurant. The beef and lamb dishes are delicious and cannot be ignored. The noodles have a good spiciness to them and bring good flavor. The samsas have good crisp and flavor. Before you leave, you must try the kebabs.

It was the worst dining experience of all: zthe waiter who served us was rude, she kept joking/chatting with the folks in the oppposite table instead of taking our orders on time and served the dish cold and responded rudely instead of heating it up😡 i mean after such a long time for an order, you wait for everything else like dishes to come, waitress to stop chatting and remembering there were others waiting to be served 😂 it was almost 6 months ago, but I will never go there again and I think it will teach the company not to employ disrespectful people, because they have been losing a lot of potential customers who asked me directly about my experience😔 i really wanted to say nice things about you guys but unfortunately as being a customer i was disappointed and frustrated😡

Dolans was fantastic, 5/5 stars!Before you even eat, the atmosphere is vastly different from most places in the area. The scenery is lovely and unique. Even the tea cups are very fancy looking. If I had to judge by appearance, I thought eating here would cost an arm and leg, but its actually quite affordable.One of the dishes is a large chicken platter, with noodles, and potatoes that comes in 2 sizes, which I cant remember at the moment. The flavor is similar to malat dishes, with spicy pepper and peppercorn flavors to give a numb sensation. Im not a big fan if peppers, but it matched the dish nicely.The meat filled naan and the samsa are both savory pastries. The former has more of a crunch to it, while the second is flaky. I recommend both. I had a preference for the naan, but the others enjoyed the latter.The kabobs were great as well. I got the lamb, which had a great chewy texture, and a grilled flavor that wasnt overpowering.As for drinks, we ordered a pot of the milk tea, which surprised us to say the least. It turns out this isnt the milk tea that were used to, having millions of boba places in SoCal. This milk tea is a variant which is known for its salty flavor. Its one of those thingsthat you need an acquired taste for, so it might be a good experience to try something overall.Like others have said, the food takes a bit to arrive, as they only start cooking after you order, so keep this in mind if you dont want to wait.

As a person that’s born and raised in Urumqi, I have to say it’s very very authentic. The lamb kebab is just amazing! Big tray chicken is fantastic. The manti and samsa are great as well! Oh you have to try the ugyhur special tea. It’s amazing and really warms up your belly! Yum yum!!!

I never waited so long in a restaurant like this. Bad service. No water just wait. No AC in the restaurant. They served a big table first, I guess it’s because that table would order more. What they did was just asked ‘are you ready’ then never talked to us anymore.

I highly recommend this place for trying the authentic Uyghur Türk food. It has unique taste of combination Türk and Asian flavor.Noodles are the best with its fresh and homemade style.And try tea with your meal.Big recommendation on all noodles and kabab.

I highly suggest one go there for lunch instead of dinner, in order to get faster service and a more quiet environment. I was the only customer there for an hour during lunch time. I returned for dinner and it was full. Some even allowed their kids to scream.

We found a strand of steel wool (from the wok cleaning pad) in our dish. I have to give a failing grade, and I believe it is a health code violation. See photo. We ordered the laghmen, portion was rather small. The gooshnang was good. The samsa was nicely presented, I could not help but compare it to the curry puffs at Chinese bakeries, however. The samsa was made with the same ingredient in more or less the same way but moist by comparison. Overall prices are a bit high.

Ask for recommendations on what to order. I liked the cumin but it was a bit spicy for my friend. Flavorful food and nice ambience. Portions are not too big. Dolan, pronounced with emphasis on the aan, is the name of the region in China.

Dolan’s Uyghur Cuisine highlights the unique crossroads cooking from the Xinjiang province in northwest China. (Mariah Tauger / Los Angeles Times) This is one of the few places in LA we can enjoy Uyghur cuisine. A bit spicy for me but overall tasty. This is first time I am writing a review about anything. We went for Mother’s Day dinner and came back very disappointed. All the food we ordered was extremely salty. We couldn’t taste anything but salt . Just couldn’t eat. Servers were polite. But service very spotty. I doubt we will ever go back.

Unique flavours! Its a fusion of Chinese and Mideastern food. So, noodles with sichaun pepper and lamb. Lots of cardamon, cumin, and other good stuff! Try the Special Tea and the Big Plate Chicken. If you have a large enough party, you can get an entire roasted lamb!
